So, on this day, I was craving Jamaican-styled oxtails. I ordered delivery via a third party app. First the positives, the food was packaged well and the portion sizes were very, very generous. The oxtails were served with "rice and peas". (I had an option of white rice.) The rice and peas were very tasty and well cooked! No hard peas or undercooked grains of rice. A side of potato salad was also included. This was an unremarkable mixture of tender potatoes and mayo. Nothing special. But where my heart broke was the poor, poor representation of Jamaican-styled oxtails. Truly, my feelings were hurt by the untrimmed, fatty, tough oxtails. I was ashamed of the lack of flavor or seasoning. What a disrespectful way to treat such cuts of beef. There was no love in the food. What I received, from what should have been a comforting dish, was grief. Too much Browning made the dish look and taste unappetizing. I pray that my meal was a fluke and not the norm. When I got to my car, I opened the box and everything looked amazing. I tried the greens first and they are good. I could taste the butter, so please don't tell me how many calories or sticks are in it. They were also very tender but not mushy and if they're from a can, I could not tell. You can see from my pictures the perfect coloring on the oxtail with no char and upon my first bite they were extremely meaty and flavorful. I will not show you an after picture of just the bones remaining LOL. I love the fact there wasn't too much browning seasoning or whatever seasoning is put in that gives it a very strong burnt taste. It didn't I have that at all from what I can tell and the flavoring of the meat shown through. I was sent it to try some other dishes but wanted to keep it safe since I was driving an hour away. I am so pleased that I was finally able to make it to try their food and definitely plan on coming back when I'm back in the area. When I read over my post making sure everything was correct I had to change my verbs to past tense because yes I was writing about this dish as I was eating it because it was that good. The only thing I was not a fan of was the rice which was really mushy and I'm hoping it wasn't from the other day but that's the feeling I got from it.
