WARNING: Be cautious when ordering the raw oysters, here. The server had a "I don't give a F attitude" when I had my first bite of half-dozen raw oysters. The one oyster I started to bite into was the WORST tasting I've had in a long time. It was gritty and tasted like it had died, before it was caught. I asked the server to let the manager or cook know this, as I was concerned for other customers' safety. She gave this look like it was me who was the problem. No manager bothered to come to our table, to ask me about it, either. She also scoffed at my reaction when she said that the Alaskan King Crabs market price went up to $92 / lb - which I thought was way overpriced for a place like Red Crab. So, I got the snow crab legs, which were excellent, as well as the boiled potatoes. The generous amount of butter had an off-putting flavor, but still went well with the crab legs. The corn on the cob sucked, as it was soggy, from clearly being kept in a warming oven or pot for too long. The cheesecake was small, but really good, although I did have to ask about desserts when the server was ready to give us the check. She was also slow in bringing out the dessert and updating our check, but nicer towards the end of the dinner. This is about the 5th time I've been to Red Crab - and just this location. They need to work on food quality consistency, better training on the servers, and take seriously when a customer nicely complains about raw oysters, that don't taste fresh and clean. read more

When we visited Lake Dora, we came across this restaurant while going to Publix. It has to be the best Cajun boil I ever had in Florida. We had the juicy special with extra two pounds of Crawdads which had scallops, clams, mussels, lobster, crab, red potatoes and corn. The spices were amazing and the chef cooked it to perfection. The crab I ordered was pretty good. One piece of corn, one piece of potato. That was fine with me as I would rather eat the crab. I wish I'd gotten the medium spiced sauce. The others in my party were not as happy. Clam chowder was good and portion was good. Fried scallops dinner was ok but would not be ordered again. No coleslaw was available. Chicken po boy was pretty poor and bland. Shrimp pasta was not great. She picked the shrimp out and left the pasta. The service was good. The ambiance was nice and pleasant. read more

Went here with my sister to have lunch to celebrate a five year long battle with cancer that I finally won! We've been to other restaurants like this and this one was by far the best! The food was all freshly cooked and not overdone at all. We each got the Thursday special which has 1 lb snow crab and 1/2 lb headless shrimp. We both added sausage and a lobster tail to our meals and I added 1/2 lb of blue crab to try. (It is a celebration after all!) Everything was Very flavorful and cooked to perfection! Obviously we both had plenty left for another meal (or two!) The people that work here were very nice and our waitress was very attentive and friendly. We drove by this restaurant several times as we were traveling to and from our hotel and decided we had to stop by before our vacation was over. Came in with a party of 6 around 9:30. The restaurant was almost empty,with maybe two or three tables occupied. The host did some calculations to see which table was best according to how many servers she had on the floor. We were seated soon after and it turns out she was our waitress for the evening. She quickly took our drink and appetizer order. It was hard to decide what meal to order, as the prices were extremely exaggerated for the food that was listed. I finally decided to go with one of the cheapest combo that listed 1 potato, corn, a lb of shrimps and added dungeon crabs. The food came out quickly. It was a bit on the bland side and I requested salt and pepper. The waitress brought some salt packets and mentioned they had no pepper. My sister had the same meal I did and the rest of the boys had chicken tender and fries basket and fried catfish and fries basket. Everyone has the same complaint about the food not having any flavor. Several customers stopped by to make orders to go or pick up orders to go while we were still dining in. The service wasn't too bad but it could have been better. The food just needed a little salt and it would have been much better too. I want to mention that the Red Crab Juicy Seafood is in a strip mall. Therefore, there is plenty of parking and is easy to get to. But don't look for its own building. I went on a Tuesday evening and I was seated immediately. They have both tables, booths or a bar. The menu had a number of options, but not too many, letting me know they specialized in certain things. They provide a bib, gloves, and wipes, which was greatly appreciated. They also brought to my table a bucket to throw in skins or shrimp legs, etc. when ordering (I got the scallop, shrimp with no head, and sausage platter that comes with little potatoes). They brought my meal in a large bag tied up and a metal plate. I dumped the bag of goodness onto my plate - very unique. I appreciated being able to order from "no spice" to "burn your face off"! The food was tastey. The server was responsive. I am only providing four stars, though they were wonderful, because if how I got my leftovers. Unfortunately they dump what you didn't eat into another plastic bag with all the juices and spices. Now, I realize some may like that. But it did not appeal to me. I mean where do I start... with the positive stuff I suppose! The place was clean, staff friendly, and it wasn't busy for dinner on a Monday. The overall flavor of the boil was decent can't complain too much. Now to the negative, my gfs food came out hot, a luxury I didn't get to enjoy. My food must've been sitting because everything in my boil was cold. I have a slight suspicion this establishment reheats their boils because neither my nor my gfs potato's were soft or very flavorful. The corn clearly wasn't soaking in the boil for long either, you can tell when you suck the cob whether this is true or not NO FLAVOR only seasoning on top of the corn. My girlfriend also had a hard time getting hardly any crab meat out of the snow crabs, the meat wasn't sliding out of the shell, another indication that they aren't cooking their food properly. I ended up with a bad stomach ache after. Now I may have just had one bad encounter but I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone in my inner circle, if you do try this place and have seen this review then good luck to you and your bathroom! read more

Overall very tasty. We had a bit of everything and enjoyed almost everything. You get to choose a "sauce" and spice level. We went with house flavor and medium spice. Medium was not too hot, just enough to know it was there. Would repeat the choice. We did get a rotten potato in the mix, no way they could have known, but everything else was great in our seafood meals. Only low might be the clam chowder.... it was ok. Our first time here. My husband and I split the weekend special and added some blue crab. We got garlic butter mild. Seasoning was perfect. Just a little heat. Corn and potatoes were great. We cut up the potatoes and let them sit in the sauce as we tackled the seafood. The shrimp was my favorite. The lobster was also good as well as the crab legs. This was our first time getting blue crab like this. Flavor was good but we would get more shrimp or crab legs next time. I got a Margarita. Seafood and portions were great! We had fried shrimp with fries. Shrimp were large and lighty breaded and fries, hot and delish. Steamed clams served in their "Juicy sauce" we're steamed perfectly and the spices wonderful. Corn I was just ok (probably from frozen) so a little over cooked. Ted potatoes hot and good. Service was very good. Had to knock'em down a star for cleanliness. Windows and sills need a good washing as all as napkin holders. Bathrooms, a step above a gas station. Both areas very fixable if the manager would pay attention to the details. I truly hope the kitchen is cleaner. Go again? Second time eating here and we decided to get the seafood steamed/plain, butter on the side. No seasoning or "butter". Snow crab was not fresh, stuck to the shell and was not sweet.
