I'm always on the lookout for good Jamaican food, so I was excited when I saw Caribbean Eatz was close to my house. Could this be my new local go-to Jamaican spot?! Ummm, no way. Unfortunately, it fell way short in my humble opinion. Whenever I find up a new Jamaican spot, I have to order my favorite dish to see how they compare to the rest. It's all about the Jerk chicken, rice and peas, cabbage, and sweet plantains. I usually like to throw in a spicy beef patty too. When I got home and tasted my meal, I was really disappointed. Nothing tasted authentic. The jerk chicken wasn't spicy or flavorful. It also had a funny plastic smell to it. The cabbage was bland and the rice and beans were the strangest I've had. It was like a darker version of that Indian Basmati rice with a few beans thrown in. I'd say the beef patty was easily the best part, and that's not saying much.. The whole meal just struck me as disappointing. I'd rather just hit up Sanford next time!

Love having choices like this in our area. Sometimes the jerk pork is on the dry side but still good with all the sides. The jerk chicken is always on point. Super friendly couple own and run the restaurant. We try to go here whenever we can, and will continue supporting this business.

When I arrived at the end of the parking lot where the truck is situated, (diagonally across the street from Justin Square), I was met by what seemed to be a family-owned and run business. Pops was in the back of the cool-looking truck smoking some meats, Momma was taking orders and serving, and Junior was was helping out. If I am correct, then Jam Rock Country Style Jerk is even more endearing to me than it already is! Ok, onto the food. So of course I have to always order my favorite go-to meal: Jerk chicken, rice and peas, cabbage, and cornbread. The small order was $10 or you can go for the large at $13. I also had to order order a beef patty and a pineapple Jamaican soda. I must say, everything was IRIE! This makes me very happy because I will be a "regular" here, so they better get to know me :) The jerk chicken was smoked well and you could just taste the wonderful smoke and spices. The rice and peas were good, not hard or soggy. The cornbread was good and I was happy to have been given a pretty large piece. The cabbage was also good. I haven't eaten the beef patty yet but it looks really good and authentic like I loved back in NYC. I really have no complaints. What put this experience over the top for me was when Momma asked me if I wanted ox-tail gravy over the rice! Ummm...YES, and MORE please!

I was getting together with some friends and we ordered from Negril. Luckily, a couple of my friends are Jamaican and they helped steer me to some new faves! Food I'd highly recommend: - Brown stew chicken meal with rice and peas, fried plantain, and stewed cabbage. This dish is rich and has the potential for leftovers if you're not starving. For the uninitiated, Jamaican rice and peas consist of red kidney beans and rice that's cooked in broth, coconut milk, and tons of aromatic spices. This isn't your white rice and green peas type of situation. I could have eaten this rice on its own, but add in the brown stew sauce and WOW. Also, I love the cabbage side because it adds a vinegary note that offsets the rich stew. Note: The chicken is cut up and includes bones. - Coco bread: This is a Jamaican style bun baked with coconut milk. It's especially good when paired with a patty in the middle (yes, the coco bread around the patty! Carb heaven!). - Festival: Jamaican festival is a sweet fried dough made with cornmeal, flour, sugar, salt, vanilla extract, and milk aka a dumpling. Yes this is as good as it sounds- especially for soaking up brown stew gravy! I was BLOWN away to see an entire veggie section of the menu (for online ordering) featuring soya veggie chunks (a soy based option with the consistency of chicken). That's a HUGE deal for those of us with vegetarians in the family. Overall, delicious Jamaican food that I'll definitely order again!

It was a Friday night and the restaurant was busy. It felt like others were also coming in for one last visit, which added a bittersweet feeling to the evening. I ordered a pina colada and a pineapple coconut martini. The drinks were perfect. Cold, smooth, and exactly what I remember. I will truly miss the drinks here. They have always been one of the highlights. For food, we ordered beef empanadas, coconut shrimp, and the honey butter crispy chicken sandwich. The empanadas were not quite as good as I remembered. The filling was more soupy than before and did not have the same bold flavor I used to enjoy. The coconut shrimp was solid and consistent. The chicken sandwich tasted like it may have been cooked slightly too long, making it a bit drier than expected. Service was great, especially considering how busy they were. The staff handled the crowd well and remained friendly and attentive throughout the night. While the food was not as memorable as it once was, the experience and the drinks reminded me why this place was special. It is always tough to see a longtime favorite close. I went with yellow rice, red beans, and sweet plantains. My wife ordered the chicken combo with a side of yellow rice and yuca (her first time trying yuca!). The lady helping us (pretty sure it was the owner) was incredibly friendly and patient, guiding us through the menu like old friends. We paid, grabbed a table, and dug in. My wife took one bite of the rotisserie chicken and declared it the best she's had in ages--juicy, perfectly seasoned, and falling off the bone. No surprise there; we spotted those massive rotisserie ovens spinning away, so chicken is clearly their specialty! She then tried the yuca (boiled and crispy-edged, I assume) and loved it--said it was buttery and addictive. Her yellow rice had tasty chunks of different meats mixed in, and she couldn't stop raving about the flavor. I mixed my yellow rice (a different style from hers) with the red beans on the plate--pure comfort food heaven, rich, savory, and perfectly balanced. The sweet plantains? Outstanding. Caramelized just right, sweet but not overpowering, soft inside with that ideal crisp edge. Every bite was perfection. The place had a great vibe too--clean bathrooms, lively Spanish beats playing, and a casual, welcoming atmosphere that made us feel right at home. We're already planning our next visit to try more dishes (that mofongo and rotisserie chicken platter are calling our names!). If you're craving authentic Puerto Rican BBQ and sides done right, Lelo's is a must-stop. Highly recommend--5 stars all the way!

I ordered the jerk chicken with rice and peas, cabbage, and plantains. I also added a beef patty. Service was quick and friendly, and my food was ready without a long wait. Let me just say, this is what authentic jerk is supposed to taste like. The rice and peas were well seasoned and balanced. The cabbage was cooked perfectly, tender but not mushy. The portion sizes were generous, easily enough for more than one meal. The jerk chicken was the standout. It was seasoned to perfection, bold, spicy, and full of that signature smoky depth that defines true Jamaican jerk. The heat level was right, the flavor layered, and every bite delivered exactly what I was hoping for. The beef patty was decent, though not as memorable as the jerk.
