Visited on a Monday night, a night many other places are closed. A lovely room and an attractive menu. Waitstaff spoke English and there were English language menus, although I was quite prepared to stumble through in broken Portuguese.
Alas, the evening was something of a disaster. The staff were brusque to the point of rudeness, although we tried to be very polite with por favor and obrigado/a. Although I appreciate a leisurely meal, the service was slow even by this standard. The staff or the kitchen honestly seemed overwhelmed by the number of patrons. Perhaps they were understaffed, which might explain a lot.
They were out of a number of items on the menu. There was an added fee for the bread and olives that arrived at the seating unasked for. The wine was decent but overpriced even by restaurant mark-up standards.
It is rare that I write a review; when I do, it has to have been a remarkable evening, one way or the other. And so it was. read more
