We had a situation where a set of our keys were stolen along with other belongings, so we needed to get the locks changed fast. I called Laredo Lock and setup a time for Sergio to stop by when I got home from work. A few hours before the appointment he called to confirm (which was great) and he arrived when he said he would. I dropped in hoping Laredo could resolve my issue w/a frozen lock on my bike carrier mounted on exterior spare tire (preventing me from using my spare). Laredo's locksmith was very responsive and professional. He first tried solving my lock issue via lubricant and gentle pursuasion of the key. When that didn't work he cut off my frozen lock without damaging anything. Their service was quick & Laredo's price was fair too. read more

I had Laredo out to re-key our building's front door and replace the buzzer box. Sergio was very conscientious and obviously takes great pride in his work. He was a little late for a couple of the appointments (20-30 mins), but both times were because an earlier appointment took longer than expected, and he called to let me know what was going on. Helped my husband get back into our place when he locked himself out, then came back to change all of our locks when my husband realized he had left the keys in a cab. Really personable group of pros, I would use them again in a heartbeat. And to the one star reviewer below, I would advise checking out the full story before making assumptions and then giving a lousy review to a company that I am guessing you never even used. There are good small business owners in this city who rely on honest reviews to make a living for themselves and their families. Making them suffer for a situation you know nothing about and wasn't their fault in the first place is hurtful to our community and the good people in it. read more

We called them to come fix some locks that were sticking badly. We clearly know nothing about locks because apparently all they needed was some WD-40. The technician wouldn't even charge us anything for making the trip out and now our locks work perfectly. We're so impressed by their customer service, they will always be the ones we call. read more

Just bought a home, and wanted to get the doors re-keyed (never know who might have a 'spare' key!) I called our old landlords' locksmith, and then I called Laredo because they were close. Laredo was about half the price as the other guys, so I scheduled a time. (Part of that difference was that I was close, so they cut a bit off their 'per visit' charge.) They were there right in the middle of their window (they said between 4:30 and 5, and the guy showed up at 4:45). They did a great job rekeying the lock, they were quick, courteous, and knew their stuff. The next day, I locked myself out. (Stupid me!) I called them again (so glad I had my mobile on me with the ph# still in memory!) and they came in about 20 minutes, and they gave me a break on the price because they had just done work for me. 5 minutes of work and they had the door 'picked'. Great service. As promised I came there twice. Once when another locksmith said the lock was too old an already compromised by previous repairs and nothing could be done Al repaired the mortise and it's still working after 100 years. Today he repaired another mortise lock by finding a cam and making a cylinder work . He goes the extra mile that other locksmiths won't. Fair and reasonably priced. They are my go to locksmiths! I needed keys changed to a door lock and needed copies made. After meeting with another locksmith and had a weird feeling to my stomach, I had walked in Laredo Lock to find out if the first locksmith was telling me the truth or if I was being scammed. I spoke to Oscar and he was so helpful. He clarified the difference between these two keys that the first locksmith said were so different, and because of the difference of the cut of the key, the first locksmith was going to charge me $9 for each copy of the key, and I'm not even going to go into what he was going to charge me for the entire job. However, I found out Laredo Lock charges $2 to make a copy of the same kind of key that the other locksmith called a "specialty" key. Oscar took the time to explain to me the difference between keys and the cost of the job with no additional hidden fees, unlike the first locksmith. I felt so comfortable and the cost to have the work done was so reasonable, I made an appt. for them to come out the same day to change the keys for the lock. I wrote the itemize cost down on a piece of paper and my info on another, however, after all the talk, I didn't realize I took both papers with me. When the time of the appt. came I met Sergio and he told me that I had took the paper with my info on it. I'm so lucky Oscar remembered the address, otherwise they would not have had any way of contacting me. Sergio was efficient and professional. I'm so pleased with everything. Al was great. I had a couple uncommon jobs another hardware store / lock place said they could do then couldn't (make a key for a old school motorcycle / moped, and get a key to work for an old 1900's mortise lock). Al nailed both jobs and gave a price I thought was beyond fair. I'm glad to have this place in my neighborhood and would recommend them to anyone who needed a job done right or that required expertise beyond copying a key, although I'm sure they would do a nice job on that too. read more

I cannot rave enough about Laredo Lock. My key had broken in the lock on the door to my apartment late at night. I called another Locksmith who said they'd be "at least 20 minutes" and 30 minutes later kept promising "10 more minutes." They also told me it COULD be as low as $40 to come out and then $65+ depending on the level of difficulty, which didn't seem too legitimate. After an hour (shame on me for waiting this long!) they eventually revealed they were still working a job 30 minutes away... I promptly called Laredo Lock. They answered immediately, asked me questions to gauge the situation, gave me the price on the spot (a reasonable one, too), and said they's be there in 20-30 minutes. He showed up 19 minutes later and swiftly extracted my key. He stayed to make sure my spare keys worked. He was incredibly professional and had remarkably high character and transparency. He warned me to the ways of emergency locksmith scams and I'll never go to any one else in a pinch again. read more

The net summary of my review is I highly recommend Laredo Lock Company. Sergio, the person I worked with, was fantastic. He replaced all the locks in my apartment building and, in my opinion, went above and beyond. I obtained 4 quotes to replace the locks in my building. What I learned is all quotes are not the same and not to rely on price alone without making sure it is an apples to apples comparison. A couple other companies came in lower, but did not provide any details on the products they were installing. Laredo did. When I tried to do a like for like comparison, the other companies' quoted prices increased significantly. There are, to my understanding, 3 grades of locks and different manufacturers offer different quality products. I think Laredo provided good quality products and matched the right grade to the right application, interior and exterior. I learned a lot from Sergio, which I did not from the others until I asked. Two of the other companies seemed more like marketing machines. Laredo seemed like down to earth people. They have a nice store front and I think several technicians. I also met Al in the office and talked to Oscar on the phone. Both were nice, friendly and professional. The locks were replaced last week, so time will tell. That said, so far my experience has been great. Sergio said what they would do and he did what he said. That's what counts to me. read more
