3035 W Montrose - They went out to address my apartment panel because there was a constant buzz. He replaced the speaker and amplifier. A couple days later, the same constant buzzing, which means the door is unlocked. Sent someone else out, and they charged me again, for the same issue not being resolved. They then decided to quote me 2k for a new panel and say, that "should" fix it. So I paid almost $400 for them not to resolve the buzzing. They sent someone else and charged the same thing to not resolve the issue. I asked to speak to an owner, but no luck. They keep telling me the service guy will call me back. Then they send me a quote for new panel but not sure if that's the issue. I would NOT recommend them. read more

Nonstop Locksmith was excellent! Other locksmiths I called wanted to send a technician out to evaluate the situation, order parts and then make a return visit. Really? Nonstop answered my phone call promptly and scheduled an appointment right away for the next morning at one of my investment properties. Their service call was $79, which was less than others I called. Nonstop also recommended all the locks be re-keyed instead of replacing each to save money. How about that? Jose was the person I scheduled the appointment with on the phone, and Robert was the technician who came to the property to re-key the locks. Robert gave my tenant a heads up when he was heading to the property, called me to let me know the total cost and took my credit card over the phone when the job was completed. I had a wonderful experience with this company yesterday, when I lost my rental car key for two hours on the day I needed to return to the airport. The company dispatched the request to a mobile automotive locksmith, Frank, who called me promptly and made plans to visit me at the home address J gave him. found my key about just minutes before Frank was due to show up, so I called Frank back promptly and asked him to stop by so I could give him a big tip for his troubles. He was super friendly but politely declined the offer. Overall I had a super positive experience with both this company and with Frank himself. read more

This is one of the BEST places to get keys made in Albany Park. The finished keys are always cut perfectly, even if they're copies of the originals. Some of the smoothest keys I've ever used... I can't believe they're not butter, but obviously they're keys. They have an incredible selection of unique keys (e.g., childhood cartoon characters, every local sport team, an array of different country flags, tie-dye designs, and--my favorite--The Simpsons). The intercom system at my condo building wasn't functioning properly so I called Non-Stop Locksmith to get an estimate. The receptionist informed me that the service fee for a tech to come out and diagnose the problem would cost $55 plus $140 an hour per technician. (Total $199) Honestly, that seemed a bit steep, but I'm not familiar with this kind of thing so I didn't question it too much. I talked to the other unit owners and we agreed that we'd go with Non Stop rather than continue to vet other companies. (I'd called several repair companies and the rep for Mircom, but it wasn't very fruitful) Majdi came out to take a look at the intercom. The intercom we have is the Mircom TX3-200-4U. He diagnosed the problem within the hour, but had trouble getting in touch with the gentleman at Non-Stop who runs the parts department. It turned out the microphone in intercom was broken. Majdi needed to find out if the microphone was in stock or if it could be ordered. He couldn't get ahold of his co-worker so he told me someone would follow-up with me. Honestly, the guy in the parts department being unavailable when his assistance was needed was a bit of a turnoff, but I shrugged it off. (Majdi called him several times) Majdi was very helpful and kept his word when he said he would follow-up regarding questions I had regarding the intercom system. He also took the time to show me and one one of the other owners how to navigate one of the intercom features. His customer service was top notch. The $199 fee didn't count towards a potential final repair bill so my condo association decided to authorize Non-Stop to order the microphone so they could complete the repair. We didn't want to waste $199 by going with another repair company. I first contacted Non-Stop in mid October. After the initial service call, I reached out a few days later and told them to go ahead and order the necessary part. They sent me a a final estimate of $427 and said I'd have to pay half in order for the necessary part to be ordered. I didn't hear from them after that initial service call so I them a few days later to get an ETA on when the part might be in. The person who answered said he'd get back to me after he checked with another employee in the parts department, but no one ever called me back. I had to call 2 or 3 additional times before I could get an actual answer. The tech first came out on 10/22/21. I received the final estimate on 10/25, authorized the repair on 10/27 and it was completed on 12/1. There was a delay in ordering the part due to Covid. In hindsight, $630 to repair the microphone in an intercom system seems a bit high, but it is what is... it works and that's the important thing. Overall, I was happy with Majdi's work and professionalism. The office staff could work on being better about customer follow-up though. Despite that I'd use Non-Stop Locksmith again and/or refer them to others. read more

I originally contacted this company because I was desperately trying to figure out how our condo board would get access to make Mul-T-Lock keys. The prior board had passed them out, and the new board had no idea where the key code was to copy more once a tenant lost both of her keys. After contacting at least 20 to 30 different locksmiths, plus Mul-T-Lock headquarters explaining our hands were tied (and finding out later that one locksmith who claimed they didn't copy our keys really WAS the company that did), Nonstop Locksmith was the only one that would allow me to prove that we were legit. With paperwork in hand to confirm we were legitimate board members, they were able to copy our key and also contacted the headquarters, too. (Shortly after, our incompetent and terminated property management company said they "didn't know what that box was for with the code on it" but never bothered to mail it to us or even tell us they still had it. So we finally did get the box after I had to track down that property manager plus the one before that.) Alexander was the locksmith I worked with, and he was EXTREMELY professional, helpful and funny, too. When I found out that they fixed doorbells and their rates were decent, I contacted them again. The one in my building had terrible audio, and other owners had doorbells that didn't work either. I was elated to do business with them. While I could go through all the details of them having to visit five different times due to rewiring, two condo owners who refused to stay home (or answer their door), weather damage in two bells and station replacements, what I will say is I grew extremely frustrated. But through it all, with one technician (Manuel), one manager (David) and one field manager (Rodney), we were finally able to get two of three doorbells in operable condition. The last one still has wiring issues, but that has zip zero to do with Nonstop Locksmith and everything to do with residents refusing to let them in to replace the wires. Rodney especially was patient, professional and did try to explain what the problems were. Although I did leave with more questions than answers with Manuel and David during the first few visits, physically standing there and watching Rodney work and listening to them cleared up a lot of confusion versus a summary at the end of hours of work. In all fairness, David did give me a chart to show his progress. Still, I'm a big fan of not hounding contractors while they work, but I finally did realize that wasn't going to work in this case and decided to stay put and just quietly observe. Shimon, the owner, stepped up to try to get all of our doorbell problems resolved, too, and called three times, too. While I certainly wish we could've been a one-and-done, in an older building with wiring issues that happened long before I moved in, this turned out to be a much bigger job than I expected. But I am relieved that it is (mostly) done and totally done to the best of their capabilities. Thank you! read more

The latch on my child car seat I installed in my rental car would not detach. The release button on the latch broke. I drove over to Non-Stop and asked for help. An older man with a thick accent came out. He had a good look at it and tried and tried to finesse it, using a screwdriver and needle-nose pliers. When that didn't work, he was able to yank it off the ring the car seat latch was a attached to after several tries using all of his weight and muscle. The brute-force effort saved me an extra day of car rental charges. When I asked how much I owe him, he graciously waved me off. Thank you! Apparently their technician set up our system so that if someone rings the doorbell, they get in the building. Massive security risk and violation and and I have no way of overriding it. I guess they want me dead UPDATE: The owner did call back and set up Rodney to come out this morning. Rodney is a great tech - he actually knows the system and is just a nice guy. It sounds like the prior tech didn't tell anyone he hadn't disconnected the system when he couldn't get the doorbell to stop automatically letting people in. Whether he knew or not, IDK. Either way, it's a problem that he either didn't know or didn't care. BUT, Rodney is great and the system seems to be working now and best of all, the door is locked as it should be. A lot of issues could have been resolved (I suspect) if Rodney had been the only tech I had had to deal with. I probably would be happy with the company if he was the only person I dealt with. So, if you do use nonstop, ask for Rodney - wait longer to have someone come out if you can get Rodney. I would give Rodney 5 stars. I would give this other tech negative stars. Overall, it's difficult to know how to rate a company that has a superstar tech AND also one that is not technically knowledgeable about the product they are selling/servicing and leaves problems without solutions (and blames the customer for problems that relate to his lack of knowledge of the product it seems). As a customer, you don't know who you're going to get. A stressful encounter with someone who blames you for things he doesn't know and leaves problems (sometimes big problems) for you to discover or someone who knows the product inside and out and can trouble shoot quickly...those are two very different situations and experiences. (I also don't really like the product we purchased for the building - the Comelit unit seems to have a lot of issues. Perhaps we had a lemon or perhaps there was another issue that Rodney might have addressed today...but I have spent wayyyy too much time thinking about the building intercom system over the past year and would not purchase the comelit system again. Online instructions are mostly nonexistent and the smallest things can cause major issues.) read more

They did a decent job on the actual work but their bookkeeping is terrible, so be warned and save all receipts meticulously. First use they said I never paid even though the check cleared my account. I had to get my bank to call them to prove it did even though I sent them a screen shot. I tried again figuring time passed and people make mistakes. Then I get an email that I never paid AGAIN when I paid at the time of the visit! I guess they count on people forgetting and paying twice? What's up with that? Definitely not using again now. We used non-stop locksmith a year or so ago when we moved into our new home. Had them rekey a few doors and they also provided an estimate on replacing some panic bars. The technician was amazing and really easy to work with. The office was responsive and the whole experience went smoothly. Because of the initial experience, I reached out again to get an estimate on replacing a couple doors and upgrading the panic bars (finally). I set up an appointment and Thomas came by on August 9th at 10:00am to give me an estimate. I stood outside my property on August 9th and watched as Thomas sat in his car until 10:10am. That's when he finally got out and approached me (I was standing directly behind his car clearly visible in his rear view mirror). It was a little annoying that he was 10 minutes late and that he didn't seem to notice that I was clearly standing outside waiting for him but like I said...we had had good experiences with this company in the past. Thomas was nice and knowledgeable and told me he would provide a quote in a few days. I followed up three business days later. No response. I followed up again on August 25th (a Saturday but I had just remembered I never heard back). This was eleven business days later. I copied the initial email I had reached out to who had then connected me with Thomas (nonstoplocksmith@gmail.com). I got a response from the gmail address 15 minutes later "I apologize for the delay in receipt of your estimate. We do not perform estimates on Saturday. However, I have included Thomas on this email, and will reach out to him on Monday as well." Thomas had already been on the email. The employee who had responded was the one who had been copied in. They did not seem aware. Nor did they seem to have noticed that the email they were copied on clearly showed that I had been waiting on an estimate for 11 business days. I responded "I understand that you do not perform estimates on Saturday. The initial visit to provide an estimate was on August 9th (a Thursday). I followed up on August 14th (a Tuesday) but didn't get a response. There have been eleven weekdays that have come and gone since the site visit." The next response came very shortly after my reply "I am truly sorry that you have not received your quotes, that is not customary for our procedures here. I have forwarded your request to upper management, and am awaiting a response." It is now Tuesday. Monday has come and gone and there was no response from upper management and no response from Thomas. read more

One week ago at this time, I was locked in my apartment locked out on my balcony. Yes, this is possible and happened! My husband and I recently adopted an adorable pup, Ralph, to mark our first wedding anniversary. As a new addition to our family, we're still getting to know each other. My husband was out of town last week. Ralph and I were just about to settle in for the evening. I stepped out on to the balcony and closed the sliding glass down behind me. Ralph, in what I imagine was an effort to join me, jumped up on the sliding glass door. On his way down, Ralph hit the door's lock with his paw. Locked in and out simultaneously! I never heard of this place before but I guarantee you one thing... I will never forget them! On one of the most coldest nights just after a major Chicago snowstorm, I had locked the spare key in my van, along with my main set of keys in the ignition, while the vehicle was running. I was frantic to get some help but with such frigid temps nobody was up to helping unlock my van using the old wire hanger method. We couldn't find a durable wire hanger since Joan Crawford banned most of them long ago. Seriously it was a no win situation this night. I was referred to Nonstop Locksmith.... and I was so happy!... Most locksmiths you call in emergencies are, in my opinion, con artists ready to rip you off... Most only take cash because they want to pocket their loot, minus paying legit taxes... and most would easily walk away because you don't have enough cash or a credit card.
