This restaurant is definitely not cheap! The service is okay i suggest them hire more nicer waiters. This visit would have been my second time to this place for lunch. I enjoyed the food so much first time that i decided to take a coworker there for lunch. We walked in around 12:30pm and were seated right away. The presentation of this place is great. It's clean and the girls that are the hosts are super nice and friendly. We waited for about 25 minutes to get our order placed. The waiter decided to take orders from the opposite side of where we were seated. The reason why i write this is because we were seated before everyone else. He should have started with our side first. When placing my food order i asked for a soda. The soda was brought out to me immediately which was totally fine. After waiting another 35 minutes for our food my soda was completely watered down. I asked to get my soda replaced by the waitress who brought our food out. She took my old cup but never returned with a fresh soda for me. Being in time crunch and our lunch break we had only 10 minutes left to eat. I couldn't find our waiter so i decided to go to the bar and ask for my soda. In the bar there was a waitress name Allison/Allyson not sure how you spell it l. I asked her if she can give me a fresh soda. She looked right at me and with an attitude turned her head and started taking an order from the guys sitting in the bar who already had food in front of him. I could not believe she completely looked at me heard me and didn't acknowledge me at all. This is unacceptable! she ignored me and didn't even apologize or try and take my order after seeing me waiting at the bar for 5 minute or more. I am Beyond shocked by this kind of customer treatment. This is not okay at all. Train your waiters and waitresses to be more alert and understanding of people's time and needs. Sad to say i will not be returning to this location again or recommending it to any of my clients. read more

LaoTable - Dessert: fried bananas and three ice creams. Wonderful and way too much for three - Laotian Near Me - San Francisco, California

Big fan of Laoation food and had this place bookmarked forever. Pros- Nice ambiance (nicest I've been to for Lao) Great service Cons- Average food Extra pricy items Shared: papaya salad, was just average. Crispy rice salad, was just like a kim chi fried rice and was extra sour/salty. Didn't stay crispy and was just mushy Crispy German pork knuckle- description was not accurate. It was soft and mushy and not crispy at all. Total for lunch for 2 people was $80 without drinks. Unfortunately food was just not great. read more

Stopped here for lunch on a Friday, and needless to say, the place was packed! Our 2-seater table was converted to fit the 3 of us, with one chair awkwardly placed between our table and the neighboring one. I liked that many of the menu options could be made vegetarian or vegan by omitting oyster sauce and eggs. The portions were huge, and we had to get boxes for leftovers. I got the Mixed Vegetable Wok, which comes with jasmine rice. The dish contains broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, and tofu in a thin sauce. The vegetables were lightly sauteed, and the sauce was sadly underwhelming; I would have liked it more if it had a stronger flavor or more spice. The Fresh Coconut water was sweet and refreshing, and the perfect accompaniment to the main. Service was quick and efficient, given the busy period we were there. read more

We come here a lot for team lunches. They used to be really slow lol but have gotten a lot better. The basil chicken has been my favorite order so far. I've gotten their style of pad thai before and it was pretty good too. The Vietnamese coffee is crazy sweet - sweetened before the condensed milk is added even. Really nice plating and decor. read more

We were wowed by the experience here. It was a Friday night and we were looking for a place to eat in our new neighborhood. When we passed by this restaurant, we were surprised by the number of people eating inside. We checked out another place but ultimately decided to come back here for some Laotian food. We were greeted and promptly seated. The space is beautifully decorated with high ceilings and top 40s music, giving it a trendy / modern feel. Lots of people at the bar presumably for HH. We shared the wrapping vegetable crispy rolls, which you assemble yourself (similar to lettuce wraps) but better! We also got a bowl of the tom-zaab beef which was delicious. Really tender beef similar to tom-yum but had more of a sour profile. We also got the crispy sticky rice salad with fermented pork sausage. Everything was delicious and we were definitely full after sharing these 3 dishes. We decided to peek at the dessert menu and couldn't resist the coconut sticky rice option. It was a coconut filled with coconut ice cream (with chunks of coconut) and 2 chunks of sticky rice wrapped and steamed in banana leaf. Overall, this was definitely one of the best more memorable meals we've had in a while. $100+ for 2 people with drinks. The only thing that wasn't really memorable were the cocktails. Next time will opt for a beer or a glass of sparkling wine to cut some of the spiciness. Can't wait to come back and try out some of the other items on the menu. read more

Make reservations for this place because it gets super busy. Everything we ordered was delicious. The cocktails are not very strong, but are tasty and pretty to look at. Gets very loud inside. Waiters are hard to understand because they have heavy accents. They're nice tho with good service. read more

I was in San Francisco for vacation and looking for a good thai food near the place i stay and this place is 10/10 for me

I took my team here for lunch. The restaurant is really modern and clean. We had great servers and the menu were pretty solid. All the dishes came out were meeting or exceeding our expectations. Definitely don't miss out the pork belly and the crispy rice salad. Refrain yourself from ordering the familiar dishes that you find in other Thai restaurants. LaoTable - Pork belly - cooked to perfection.. moist and flavorful - Laotian Near Me - San Francisco, California

I came in on a busy weekday lunch hour. Seems to be very popular for corporate lunches, but I was just here by myself. I had great service at the bar, but here is the big problem: the food is very mediocre, especially considering the price. I had the beef pho and the steak entree. The pho had an ok amount of just one type of beef, and a whole plop of noodles. The garnishes were unremarkable and the flavor of the soup was not special. Highly overpriced compared to much better pho I've had in the past. I was hoping I would be saved by the steak, but it fell flat just the same way. The quality of the meat did not stand out at all. I'd come back again, but only if my company were paying for it. read more

U HAVE TO eat it with the lil coconut crispy thingy and lettuce that it came with! It's like BUTTA BABEE!!! 3. Iono bout Linh's drink but my Lao Soda was THE BOMB!! It was made of kifir vodka and watermelon juice. Got me tipsy as hell! 4. Garlic wings was good but we didn't bother too too much with it cuz we had wings at a Chinese restaurant earlier. We had the happy hour platter, which included oysters, Lao sausage, calamari and garlic wings. We also ordered pad mee Lao noodles. Sausage was very tasty. Loved the lemongrass flavor in it. Calamari and wings were well over cooked. Not to our liking. Oysters were not shucked all the way. Had to use a fork to scrape the oysters off from the shell. Service was over bearing. We felt rushed to eat and get out of there. We had several servers coming by every 10 minutes interrupting our conversation and taking our drinks and food away even though we were were not done. It was so annoying that we had keep telling each server that came by we were still nibbling on our food and sipping our drinks. Thought it was very pricey for what we got. read more

Stopped by after work for dinner with a friend. Great Thai place with really good dishes that go beyond just your regular pad Thai and had a lot of fun cocktails too. Sea bass had bones. Almost choked on one. Be careful. Short rib was very dry, not fall off the bone as expected. Everything was salty. Does the chef taste things before it goes out? I wanted to like this place. Recommended by friends so my guess is they had an off night? There was a party there so maybe the real chef took the night off. Irregardless I would say they are inconsistent. Don't go at night but maybe during lunch when there's more traffic and less likely to p*ssoff so many people. I wouldn't recommend. Price is not cheap. Can I make a suggestion give 30% discounts at night if you can't deliver consistently. Lots of restaurant's are doing that. Needless I won't recommend or will be returning. Plus hostess hassled me when picking up my order. Kept asking are you this person. I showed her my app with the exact order item by item. What are the odds I picked the exact 4 dishes not spicy. Anyways I was going to cancel but she finally gave it to me. How disappointing to walk 4 blocks for this. We are it regardless since we were all super hungry. Best of luck. Recommend only going during lunch. Don't take out and don't go at night and don't go if there is a party hosted. read more

Got a good lunch and service. However I asked for wine by the glass that is on happy hour and they brought me a different glass twice the price. Waiter was nice about it but this lady manager later came back and accused me that I did not order right wine. She was rude, unprofessional, and ignorant no class. She asked me what I ordered and then say it was fine but started to chew up the server. My experience was nice up until that moment she ruin it. Otherwise is good food but overpriced. read more

I think the only restaurant for Lao / Thai in East Cut area but thankfully a great one! My goto is the chicken red curry and pineapple fried rice. read more

Food: (1) LAO fried rice with chicken wings: It's a large dish, has a very good flavor, and comes with 3 crispy wings and bits of green beans (2) Pineapple fried rice: This is amazing and also a larger dish. I'm not generally a huge fan of pineapples, but loved them in this rice, which also has chunks of chicken and onion. (3) Red Curry: Very good (4) Tom Yum Soup: Good, but not my favorite here. It's smaller than some of their other dishes. (3) Jumbo "Tom-Yum" Hot Pot: Not a big fan of the flavor nor the noodles, but they do give a large amount of fresh seafood. My friends seemed to like it a lot. Prices: A bit pricier, as a fried rice dishes start at $16.95. However, the portions are large and the atmosphere and service are worth the price. Service: Extremely friendly, accommodating, and quite fast. Atmosphere: So very nice inside: beautiful furniture, nice/spacious layout, and comfortable temperature and acoustics. Location: In the middle of Soma. Very convenient for after-work dinners. read more

Yesterday night this place was packed. There were at least 15 or so people waiting during the dinner rush but thankfully we had a reservation. Meh I don't really get the hype about this place. I went for dinner one night and went in with high expectations given what other people have said. However, it was not that great especially for the price that you're paying. I got the me ka ti which is rice noodles with a chicken coconut stew. The proportions of everything in the dish were so off! It seemed like there were more peanuts and bean sprouts than noodles and definitely not enough chicken (there were only a few pieces!) read more

My friends and I are visiting from out of town. We came here because we saw all of the great reviews on Yelp and wanted to try something different, and none of us had ever been to a Laotian restaurant before (but we've had home made Laos food). First off, the interior design is beautiful! We were greeted promptly at the host station, but after that - it was down hill from there. After we were asked how many people were in our lunch group, we were seated shortly afterwards, but NO ONE came to check on us. My friend asked twice if we had a server and when another employee asked our server to come see us, he rolled his eyes at them. Our server barely greeted us or asked us if we had any questions or anything. This was our first time at a Laos restaurant, and having a server informing us about the menu would have been nice. When our food came out, it was brought to us by someone else besides our server, and not once did anyone come to check on us. Luckily, the food was good, but in my opinion - extremely overpriced. The bill was about $75 for one entree, a beer, and two appetizers. Also, I ordered the cup of Tom yum soup but their server put in the bowl (cup is $8 and bowl is $19). I didn't realize what I got was the bowl until after I saw the bill. I didn't realize what I received was the bowl because it seemed pretty small. But I didn't complain since we finished it all. Needless to say, I don't think I'd ever come here again nor would I recommend this place. Yes, the food is good, but not worth the price. Any mediocre Thai restaurant would suffice for a fraction of the price. This was also a disappointing experience considering this was the very first place we visited during our San Francisco trip. :( I'm giving this place a two star for the horrible service and pricey food. I will say that their Tom Yum was very good and so was the beef stick we ordered just in case anyone needed help deciding on what to order. read more

One of the good places in the city for Thai food. Prices are slightly on the higher side, but the quality and quantity of the food is good for those prices. I like their fried rice, red curry and panang curry. If you are going with a large group, it is better to make a reservation as the place is always busy. read more

Presentation is nice, inside is pretty with cool decor, and people are nice. Food is above average but not amazing. Garden fish has sticky rice and it was kinda hard. Other dishes we ordered came with Jasmine rice and those were also on the hard side. So the rice overall was disappointing. The fried tilapia was pretty good though. Went great with the fish sauce. The skewers were a tad dry and not too flavorful. The beef jerky seemed a bit out of place. Lamb curry was probably my favorite dish. The curry had really nice flavors and it was creamy. The lamb was a bit strange cause texture and shape made me think of chicken but you definitely get the lamb aromas from it so that was good. It was also pretty tender. Pad mo poo was too salty. It has so many ingredients it's a little overwhelming. The pork belly is cut into thin slices (basically looked like Chinese cha siu). Definitely need to eat this dish with plenty of rice. read more

Should be $$$ in terms of price. (Yelp has this as $$ as I write this.) Why? Dinner for two is $60, without drinks, appetizer, or dessert. Duck curry -- a pretty simple dish -- is $24. We went for dinner and to try the oysters. They don't even shuck the oysters for you! They're still stick to the muscle and they don't include a knife to cut it with. When we asked for a knife we were brought a dull butter knife. To make it worse the third oyster I tried I nearly puked. It tasted NASTY I couldn't eat anymore after that. I also had grilled calamari. This was very tough and flavorless. It smelt like wet dog and didn't taste much better. Stay far away from this place. We were one of the early birds and had a reservation at 5:30. Arrived at 5:15 and got seated immediately. As we waited for our food to arrive, more and more people came and then eventually there was a wait list. Definitely recommend getting a reservation! Service was nice but not as attentive. Food was perfectly spiced and I am half Cambodian so it brought back a little bit of mom's cooking as I was feeling a little home sick. I am coming back - tomorrow! Had the "Tum Marg Hoong" Papaya salad - one of the best salads I ever had. It's spicy though but the flavors are amazing. The chef that came up with this dish and the different ingredients in it is a genius, no other way to put it. If you don't like flavor, stay away from this salad. I could probably eat a whole bucket of this thing. Note that the salad comes "deconstructed" in a way and you can either wrap in lettuce or just mix everything together. Either way try to mix as much as you can to get the max flavor out of this and did I say that the pork cracklings there are just genius? The add the crunchiness, just what this salad needed. The place looks awesome, good for a romantic date but also for a casual night out with good selection of music and even a few TVs above the bar, actually WAY above the bar, I bet after a full football game you will need to see a chiropractor... Food has San Francisco price tags, this is not going to be your value night out for sure. But the food is worth the price. Service was ok nothing special but definitely not bad. read more

My favorite spot for a group lunch during the week. They serve delicious, inventive, and widely varied dishes that are beautifully presented and cooked with fantastic flavors. Book a table on Yelp because they can get packed. I'm a big fan of the Lao fried rice and khaw kai noodles; the portions are large enough that you'll have something to take away (or you're going to need a nap afterward). If you're into the chicken-and-rice trend that's hit SF lately, order the khao mun gai and don't skimp on the sauce. Atkins dieters will find a handful of protein-and-vegetable dishes at the pricier end of the menu. I've heard good things about the pho but I've never ordered it, since there are plenty of other places to get that in the City. The one lunch challenge at Lao Table is speed of service. It's not uncommon for some dishes to come out several minutes before others, so practice your politely frustrated "please get started without me" speech. When they're slammed it can also be hard to get someone to bring the check, so if you've got to head back for an after-lunch meeting, ask to pay as soon as the food arrives. read more

I'd give 4-Star on their food. Decent amount and well cooked. I had their papaya salad which is a bit spicy for me but I can live with it. Their honesty is 3-Star because they trick you by offering you the $1 oyster and then they told you you can only start with half dozen and once you finish you can order another one. When you finish the first plate they tell you immediately sorry we are running out of oyster! Seriously? Your happy hour is 4-7 and at 5:30 you told us you are running out? Then why do you continue serving oysters to the table next to us who arrive later? Where do those come from??? Plus, it's way too pricey, especially considering the service you get... read more
