We've been meaning to try this place out for a while and finally got to try it & apparently the happy hour was all day Friday. It wasn't as great as we heard it to be. It was just okay for us. The most memorable dish was some dish with beef lol. Tom yum beer had no notes of tom yum at all :/ I was so excited to try it. Service was also really slow...

Came during a weekday right before lunch time. Although they were not full, it definitely got busy at peak time. Not able to tell if it was a slow or regular day. So if you want to ensure no wait time, before noon is your best bet. Restaurant has a nice decor, big tables, huge restrooms. Sat comfortably with plenty of space for multiple dishes. Food wise, everything was pretty good! Price is in the mid-low range. Not the cheapest thing you'll find downtown (most dishes start at $21), and by far not the most expensive one. Considering the quality of the food and service? This is a good deal!

Order: Tod Tod Platter: Pork belly, calamari, garlic chicken wings, beef jerky and tom yum fries. jerky, pork belly and the fries were the highlight of the dish. individuals in my party liked the calamari. jerky was sweet, just a little bit smoky with a chewy texture. pork belly was more fried than roasted? but the skin was not crunchy. for both of these, it can be tough meats. Fries were tangy than spicy, from lemongrass or lime. Lao Royal: Tilapia, duck curry, papaya salad, Lao sausage, beef jerky, wings, vermicelli, sticky rice, leafy greens and herbs. the individuals in my party loved the tilapia, lots of meat, tender and not dry. duck curry was more soupy, pieces of duck were soggy lacking flavor. sausage had a yellow appearance of a curry that was not expected. Enjoyed the sticky rice and had to order another one. Happy hour is from 5:00-7:00 on Monday-Saturday, and all day on Friday. Drinks, appetizers, and oysters are part of the deal. Menu can be overwhelming so there are 2 preset entree options at the top including 1 appetizer combo. Server provided recommendations for the food. Elegant dining experience with colorful lamps, big area for patrons with lots of tables and so bar seating with TVs. good place for a casual hangout.

This place was recommended to us by a kind person at SF Moma. We wanted to eat non Indian vegetarian food. Their menu had many options listed as vegetarian. The service was prompt and friendly. The decor was beautiful. The food was hot and delicious. The servings were pretty big. We had the eggplant and spicy basil tofu. Both came with rice. Yummy food.

Went to try this place for Happy Hour but they unfortunately didn't have any oysters that day. We ended ordering full priced entrees that were absolutely amazing! I loved the duck curry and I've never had a clear curry before so that was a great experience. We were able to get vegetarian spring rolls. I liked how the wrapper was so soft and the addition of the avocado. The Tom Yum beer was also a great experience. My only issue was the lack of understanding for guests with dietary restrictions. We were looking for items low in sodium and oil because of a heart condition but the server simply said everything is premade. She didn't work with us to find a solution or offer any recommendations to help us order. Super pretty place with great food but just be wary for those with restrictions.

I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. I have such good memories of this place, but they didn't live up to my expectations this time around. I came to this restaurant 6 months ago, and had such a blast. Great portions, such beautiful interior and great energy all around. It left me wanted more. I couldn't wait until my next visit. Fast forward to the other day, I'm raving about this place to my friends saying we have to go there for lunch. No parking, it's near downtown. But It's right off Montgomery bart, a few blocks. It's a large restaurant, very accommodating for big parties. There were multiple parties with 8+ people. It was quite crowded, but they had us seated in 10 minutes. Now this is where my gripes begin to take place. First off, happy hour. Happy hour is from 5-7. I ask my waiter at 6:58ish about ordering for happy hour. She tells me 1 second. She literally waits in place. Then when the clock strikes 7 she comes back to my table to inform me that happy hour is over. I understand it ends at 7, but it was literally 7 on the dot, she could've made the exception and not been so punctual. If she would've come when I asked her, I wouldn't need these accommodations. It's like she was waiting for the clock to strike 7 just to tell me I couldn't get anything off the happy hour menu. Also my waiter had a little bit of attitude. Next, the portions and the prices. This place is a great example of how shrinkflation has impacted our restaurants. Now you might think there is nothing wrong with the portions pictured, which I understand if it's your first time coming here. But it wasn't mine. One of the big reasons I was pushing for us to come here was the portions I had 6 months ago. I initially came because I had this chicken dish called the Gai Tod. The portions were unbelievable. It could feed at least 3 people. I want to emphasize, this place isn't cheap. Most entrees are nearing 30 dollars. I highlighted to my friends, that the prices didn't matter because the portions were so big, that it was totally worth the cost. You could imagine my immediate disappointment when I received my plate. When I came here 6 months ago, the Gai Tod was 3x this size. At the absolute least maybe twice the size. 4-6 pieces of chicken and much more rice than you see on my plate. Now I all I receive is 2 pieces of chicken and sticky rice the size of a medium size egg. I could play hot potato with that thing. Mind you all the prices remain the same as they were 6 months ago. If the dish was leaning towards lower to mid 20s I'd allow it. But $28? Nah. Which was the price of all of our dishes. ALSO. THE DRINKS. I have a picture of a drink I got 6 months ago. I'll let the picture speak for itself. They might look bigger than they actually are but even so on top of that they were filled to the brim with ice.Now for the finale, my friends dish. I asked my friend if he would ever come back, he said no. I asked why, and it was because of his meal. He told me his dish, the noodle dish pictured was not worth it to say the least. The broth was ok, but the noodles were overcooked. With the noodles being 3/4s of his meal, I don't know what to tell you. Furthermore they gave him 3 meatballs for that big meal and the rest of the meat was quite lean, not what he was looking for. On a positive note, he said he liked his drink ( the pink drink.) My other friend enjoyed her pork chop rice plate. To be frank, my food tasted great. But I don't think it's worth repurchasing. I think this place is a dependable option for delicious overpriced food in a beautiful interior. The lights are gorgeous and even the bathroom is beautiful. But I don't know if I'll be returning.

Ive been here twice and I want to love this place! But not everything on the menu is a hit They have a great happy hour menu if u can make it in time, and I recommend going the family-style option because some dishes are very small. Highlights: - spicy crispy rice appetizer: this was a hit! it is VERY spicy though as someone who can tolerate alot! But its a great sharing size for a group of 2-4 people - the fried fish is crispy and delicious with a great sauce. But there is not that much meat on the fish itself - the tom yum is a bit watery and does not have a strong flavor, but it comes out on an open flame and is very shareable - the curry rice portion is super super small for the amount of curry that is provided. We had to get an extra rice. The curry is not super spicy and did not have as much depth of flavor Overall, I would come again but just for the crispy rice appetizer!

This place absolutely exceeded my expectations. The place is primarily Vietnamese but you would find Thai flavours. Such a wide variety of items in here - and everything is finger licking good. I absolutely had a feast here. I got Chicken Friend rice and it was good - not the best but above average. For the table fish platter was also exquisite. I can't recall which fish was that but it was really great..it also came up with so.many other item such as chicken wings. The seafood sizzling tom yum probably tasted the best. Thoughly enjoyed it. The Belgian beer they server was one of the best. In isolation probably every food I tried, I can find a better and slightly tastier version but a single place delivering and maintaining above average food quality over such a wide spectrum is rare. The ambience and environment was great. The place became super noisy later in the evening but it was so much fun dining out here.

Food: 3/5 Service: 3/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Portion to Price: 3/5 Overall: A good option in fidi/downtown. The extended review... Food: Khao Nar Ped - 3/5 - A good healthy portion of duck over rice. Taste was standard fare. Service: 3/5 - Friendly staff. Ambiance: 4/5 - A well decorated setting with ample seating. Portion to Price: 3/5 - Pretty standard fare.

Happy hour platter

LOVE this place!! It's honestly so rare to find Lao food that feels this high-quality and truly authentic. Everything we tried was packed with flavor. Their happy hour platter deal is such a steal, it comes with oysters, sausage, chicken wings, and calamari, and the cocktails are only $7 (beers even cheaper). Amazing value for how good the food is. The vibe is always lively, and the staff are consistently warm and friendly, which makes the whole experience even better. Pro tip: go with a group so you can try more of the menu. I also love that many dishes come with fresh leafy greens so you can wrap everything - it adds the perfect fresh crunch and makes the meal even more fun and delicious. Definitely one of my go-to spots for great food and good vibes! My favorite dishes are the platter, fried rice, crispy spring rolls with leafy greens, papaya salad, and so much more :)

I came with a friend on a weekend night on the later side and there were not many people inside. It's a nice environment right in FiDi, and the plates are beautifully decorated for sure -- but I unfortunately didn't really love the food, We got a coconut curry which had good flavor but the meat inside was a bit too sinewy and also it was small portion size-- we kind of finished it in a few bites. As you can see, the leaves take up half the plate. We also got a bamboo salad and was excited to try it but I honestly couldn't eat much of it, was actually very spicy and also the raw vegetables on the side wasn't the most appealing. I assume some other things on the menu are better but definitely wasn't our day. My friend and I both agreed that the service was friendly but the food was so-so and overpriced for the sizes

We came here on Friday night for dinner. We had a reservation, so we were seated pretty quickly. Service-wise, our server was very friendly and our food came out pretty quickly. The ambiance was lively and loved the decor. We ordered: - "Tang-Mo" Watermelon Peanut Salad - I was initially skeptical about the combination, but I ended up really liking this! The juiciness and slight sweetness of the watermelon, really played will with the sightly sour and flavorful sauce, which made it taste very good! - Garlic Wings - It was pretty good, crispy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside and flavor was good, but nothing too out of this world. - Khaw Kai Noodles - The noodles were delicious and after adding the sauce, it really set off the taste very well. The chicken was also delicious and flavorful. - Spicy Thai Basil Chicken - Flavor-wise, this was delicious, but when we got it, the dish was not very warm or very spicy, which was a bummer. Overall, we had a great time and will be back in the future to try more items from the menu!

"Pad Mee Lao" Prawns Noodles (G)
Amy G.

We came for lunch midday on a Friday and were sat instantly! The space inside is huge and the ceilings are so tall, it was the perfect place for a nicer lunch to catch up with coworkers. I was a little worried based on other reviews that the portions would be small for the price, but I was pleasantly surprised when our dishes came and the portions were MASSIVE! The rice dishes came with 2+ cups of rice and my Pad Mee Lao Prawns was enough for 2.5 meals. Flavor was great as well - nothing mind blowing but I was definitely happy with what I got. And on Fridays, they have happy hour all day. We didn't get anything off of the happy hour menu, but I would definitely try coming for happy hour next time.

Ask the Community - LaoTable

Is the menu for lunch and dinner the same, or does lunch have a smaller offering?

How busy on weekdays?

I went on a weekday and the place was not busy. If you have a large party I would recommend calling to make a reservation.

Is it easy to find parking?

There's a parking garage across the street in an alley.

Does Lao Table have Keto friendly options?

Absolutely! They have many meat/poultry dishes (over veggies, for example).

Is kids friendly?

There are no particular efforts from the restaurants to entertain kids. Most of the diners are adults. The food has a kick, which might be a little bit too spicy for kids.

How bad is the wait time for lunch on weekends?

If you make a reservation you are all set and it isn't hard to make one even the day before. Great restaurant!

Do they still have the $1.00 oyster happy hour?

Yes! Every Monday to Friday 16:30 to 19:00.

My friend and I were in the SF area and decided to give it another shot. This time, we went shortly after they opened for dinner at 4 PM. We arrived around 4:15 PM and waited about 15 minutes before getting seated! NOTES: * No designated parking lot, but there's street parking available. I can see parking being difficult to find during rush hours. * Small, cozy dining area that seems to always be packed! * We were a party of two but were seated at a table with another party of two because seating was so limited. Something to keep in mind if you prefer having your own table! * If you're planning to visit, I'd recommend going right when they open to avoid the longer wait times. WHAT WE GOT: FOOD: Khao Pad Mun Nuer with Soy Cured Egg Yolk: 5/5 This was SO good! Loved the flavors, and the beef was delicious and tender. The rice itself was also packed with flavor. Everything came together really well. Would definitely get this again! Kai Toon Lava (Tom Yum Base): 4.5/5 The workers let us know they had run out of the original base and asked if we wanted to try the tom yum version instead. Glad we went with it because it turned out to be delicious! The egg was silky and smooth, and the shrimp paired really well with it. Would recommend! Burnt Butter Kaya Toast with Coconut Ice Cream: 5/5 This was SO good! My friend and I were already pretty full after the two entrees, but we kept seeing other tables order this and had to try it for ourselves. No regrets! The crispy toast paired so well with the creamy coconut ice cream, and the pandan flavor tied everything together. Definitely recommend saving room for dessert! DRINKS: Thai Tea: 3/5 Ordered this because I noticed almost everyone else had one, so naturally I got fomo LOL. It was alright, but nothing too memorable. I'd probably just stick with water next time. Lychee Iced Tea: 2/5 My friend wasn't a fan of this one. The flavor was different from what she was expecting, so she wouldn't order it again. OVERALL: 4.5/5 I hate to admit how good this place was because now I want to come back, but the wait times are a little too much for me LOL. I'd definitely return for an early dinner right when they open, or bring a friend who's visiting from outside the Bay Area to show them "a spot." The food definitely lived up to the hype. Now I understand why this place went viral!

In this area you only use to see people wearing suits only on a Sunday but now you see people wearing suits on a weekday walking around. It's located on Florida ( not the state) street and it's called Farmhouse Kitchen Thai cuisine. On a Fleet Week and SF Tech week stroll I landed on Florida ( not the state) street. When it comes to Thai food I always like trying dishes with seafood. Most restaurants by the water serve seafood that can be bland and stale in SF. Some try to squeeze the life out of a lemon and lime and it still tastes more sour. One thing you can do to change the taste is to put some different flavor on it. Farmhouse Kitchen Thai cuisine offers a seafood plate called the Run Juan Seafood Sizzling and it's exactly the seafood answer for Don Juan . The Run Juan was a bit spicy with the spicy curry paste and jalapeños with and it came with an assortment of different seafood which included shrimp, scallops, calamari, and Manila clams. It wasn't salty like some in SF. I also had the Tom Kha soup which was not too sour like some in SF. I was looking for the purple rice but they had the blue rice which is good to have for Fleet week in honor of the Blue Angels. I washed all down with a purple colored Anchan Limenade. Some things in the Mission has changed and those days are "gone"but one thing won't change is the love of the Mission and for San Francisco by "Don Juan" because the Mission in the city still has it going "on" so go the Farmhouse and enjoy a Thai seafood dish called "Run Juan" Walking the streets of the Mission at night back in the days you had to be "cautious" because the ones who got targeted were the "softest" the Farmhouse is located on the Florida street where the "loft is"and lots of people demand for Run Juan but I am not currently running for "office"

I came on Sunday around 5:30, and was seated immediately. The steady influx/outflux of customers never made it seem too quiet, even though only half the restaurant was utilized. If you decide to come here, I recommend avoiding the Thai staples like Pad Thai and Tom Yum, and ordering at least 1 dish from the "From the Chef" section. This place feels more authentic with more unique offerings compared to your regular run of the mill Thai place (they are mostly government sponsored anyways). I ordered a Papaya salad (Som Tum Poo Pla), a Shrimp Paste Fried Rice, and Roasted Pork with Crispy Pork Belly. For starters, the Papaya salad with a bigger price tag is not for the faint of heart. There is a load of fish sauce, and combined with anchovies, makes for an...acquired dish. I was told by my server that it's pretty authentic, but it's a little too authentic and reminds me of Natto or Beijing tofu juice. The Shrimp Paste Fried rice is a must order; the spread is very instagram worthy and gives me vague paella vibes in terms that it's shareable and good for parties 2-4. I did not see this dish at other Thai restaurants I've been to, so I'd consider pretty unique. Just be mindful that it's on the sweeter side, and the chilis on the side are very, very spicy, so allocate accordingly. The Roasted Pork with Crispy Pork Belly was by far the star of the show. The skin was super crispy, and the pork itself was super tender, melt in your mouth feeling. The flavors and seasonings were perfect, with just a hint of basil to elevate the entire taste. A true adventure for the taste buds, and a must order as a shareable. Service was super friendly, and my waiter answered all my questions with a smile, and even gave us his recommendations since we wanted to stray away from the basic thai food orders. This place is a must come to if you're looking for true authentic Thai food from a chef that has pride in his work. I can't wait to come back to try their other unique dishes!

They told them their table was almost ready. So assumed our table was almost ready. I was wrong. The group behind us in line and the one that tried to cut BOTH were sat before us! This was upsetting as we were there before them and were really hungry at this point. Finally we were sat down. I wanted to order crispy chicken fried rice but they were out of crispy chicken. Not really the restaurant's fault as it was getting closer to the end of the night but that definitely had me feeling even more bummed :( And when the food finally came out, some of my rice was cold :( I feel upset because I have been recommended this place many times but the food and front desk service really fell below my expectations. Our server was nice so nothing on them! And the decorations were really fun! But yeah probably will not come back here.

Cute spot that's fairly priced and with good food? That's a triple threat! Came here for dinner…read morewith work friends and split a few dishes. We trie the crispy rolls ($12), papaya salad ($14.50), drunken noodle ($17.25), pad see ew ($17.25) and choo chee salmon ($23.95). The crispy rolls were vegetarian and came with a side of sweet chili dipping sauce. It was a standard roll, nothing to complain about but not something I would go out of my way for. Papaya salad was fresh and came with lettuce leaves as well. A solid app to split with a small group. I didn't try the drunken noodles as the group wanted beef in it, but I heard it was good. We decided to get tofu as the protein for the pad see ew, and it definitely hit the spot. However, I'd say the choo chee salmon was the winner. The curry sauce was super flavorful and had hints of coconut. Salmon was cooked well, and it came with some veggies that soaked up the curry. We didn't ask for rice on the side since we already had 2 carb dishes, but it would pair very nicely with white rice. Service was good. They checked on us and made sure we had everything we needed. I wish they had all the thai spices and sauces though. Usually at Thai restaurants, there's four different condiments, but this one only had a homemade spice concoction.

There is a good amount of seating, but the tables are quite close to each other (your neighbors will be eavesdropping). We ordered the smoked salmon toast and a florentine benedict. We decided to share a mimosa flight, spring rolls, and ahi scoops. Even though it wasn't brunch, they still allowed us to order a brunch flight, and they were so polite and helpful throughout 4.8/5. The inside is tiny, but quite stunning, clean, and gives a lot of opportunities for insta-worthy pics 4.9/5, I only wish there had been an actual photo wall. Now to the food. The crispy spring rolls were cooked perfectly, and seasoned well. The clear noodles and veggies were so yummy. I asked for soy sauce because that's what I prefer over sweet sauce, but honestly they needed nothing 4.8/5. The ahi scoops had the best seaweed salad on it that I have EVER had, the wasabi cream on top was the show stopper, and I don't even like wasabi 5/5. We shared the flight and was more than tipsy from two drinks each, flavors on point champagne delicious 5/5. Overall

Had Blackwood on my list for a while as I was looking for new brunch places to try. The premise of…read morea thai fusion brunch intrigued me and I was hoping it was would surpass my expectations and previous experience with Peacock Pansy (similar brunch spot). The reservation system was a bit odd with no designated time slots, but rather you put in a time yourself online. The system turned out to not work very well as I originally booked a spot for 2 at 11am and then had to call to move it to 11:40am (weird time). Turns out when we got there, my name or a close spelling of it was on the list for 12:40pm. This wasn't a big deal to me since it's easy to mishear on the phone so we moved on from that. The restaurant was decently booked and we sat inside. Now for what my partner and I ordered! Unfortunately nothing called to me strongly so I went with the very basic choice of 2 eggs plate with ciabatta toast and rainbow potatoes. I added in chicken sausage for $3. 5/10: The toast was unbuttered and honestly tasted stale. The potatoes were nice and crispy, but unsalted and quite plain. The eggs were nice, I got mine scrambled. Sausages were okay, I think I actually ended up with the pork sausages rather than chicken. My plate was $26 and I can confidently say it is not worth close to that unfortunately. Brussel Florentine Benedict 6/10: My partner was intrigued by the ton yum hollandaise sauce. There was a hint of it which was nice. Benedicts were okay, nothing special. Coconut oat matcha 8/10: On the sweeter side, but enjoyable! I liked the toasted coconut pieces on top and thought it was a nice drink. Premium matcha wise, I don't agree necessarily, but hey it was an enjoyable drink. Drip coffee 0/10: My partner loves a drip coffee and not in a snobby way. From diner coffee to honestly plain old regular slightly brunt coffee, thats her jam. This coffee was just burnt. Not sure what happened but it was $5 for a completely bitter cup of burnt coffee. Not great. Fun side note: As we were ordering the table next to us called attention to their dish as their waffle was completely undercooked and tasted bitter. The wait staff was apologetic about it, but seemed to either not understand or insist it was "too sweet" not undercooked or bitter. The table was very polite about it so honestly it was not the best look for the restaurant. It was simply feedback and I don't believe it was taken very well. Regardless, just a fun note to throw in! We will not be back unfortunately. There are many lovely brunch spots and restaurants around the city and sadly I don't think this one is worth a try just because of the cost for the quality, but I always tell myself its always worth to try in case you do think differently!

While we were in San Francisco, we decided to visit New Thai Elephant for dinner…read more That was a great choice. Food was amazing and prices were reasonable. Surprisingly, their menu prices were a bit lower than most restaurants here in the OC and their servings were huge. We had: papaya salad, pad see ew, beef stew noodles soup, mango shrimp salad, roti with curry dipping, and a seafood salad, which I forgot to take a photo and didn't realize that until we were almost done eating. Service was good. Absolutely a must try if you're in San Francisco.

So that sucked. 1st let's admire my Thai Ice Tea. This was so adorable & I felt bad drowning him in my tea ha 2nd - my co-worker said this was the 2nd best Pad Thai he's ever had. They grill the tofu so it's got some crunch to it. Which totally elevates the Pad Thai. My Panang Curry with duck was excellent! Decent amount of duck just a few bones. Great little kick on the spice BUT not so spicy that it makes you regret life choices! Delicious will order again. The only thing I'd complain about is that my rice wasn't sticky. I prefer stickier rice - but this rice is perfect if you don't have a preference. I don't want fully unwashed mush but I like a little more starch. My other co-worker ordered Roasted duck over rice - he said it was tasty & would order again. We did order chicken satay and the chicken had good flavor BUT the peanut sauce was just ok. I'd order it again to see if it was just an off day for the sauce. It's a small restaurant & filled quickly at lunch. Many Asians eating there which told me it would be good. Restrooms were slippery so be careful but clean. Overall I would come again!
