Two stars for the very nice woman who overcooked my food and took my order. I ordered the half and half plate. Teriyaki chicken, and teriyaki beef, with the fried noodles as a base. The beef was cooked to the point of shoe leather, the chicken was bone dry, and some pieces were burnt. The fried noodles flavorless, with hardly any veggies in them, the Mac salad was loaded with black pepper and not authentic. The meats are obviously precooked, and reheated when an order is placed. A complete waste of $12.00. Very disappointing. read more

My boyfriend and i visited Lani's yesterday as he has never tried Hawaiian food and their spicy chicken dish is in opinion, the best in town. We shared a plate of Peles chicken and had almost consumed all of it when we flipped over the last piece and I noticed the last piece was almost completely raw. When I returned to the window the woman working was hesitant to return my money and I think was concerned I was going to warn the other customers in line. When explaining what happened to our close friend she commented that it had happened to her once there as well.. Salmonella is no joke. We were both violently ill. I understand that they are cooking to serve in quantity and promptly but honestly they need to be more thorough. We will not be back read more

Super cool setting at the BeerGarden in Eugene. Laid back vibe. Nice place for a family dinner, date night, quick lunch bite or even a large group. There's a large patio area, that's covered and heated during the colder months...so it makes enjoying some Lani Moku Grill extra nice under the beautiful Oregon sky. The food was fine but too much mayo on the Mac salad. Left me sick. traveled all the way from Eagle point just to have Hawaiian food from here and we were starving after driving through a rainstorm. they told us it would be a 15 minute wait which was fine but then it ended up being 40. Had lunch over at the Chad location and was a bit disappointed compared to the other day at Beer Garden. The mac salad had too much mayo and the kailua pig was quite a bit too salty. Will try again but hopefully they can be a bit more consistent. read more

I had heard tale of a plate lunch food truck that served authentic Hawaii type plate lunches. Previously, I thought Kalani's was the only worthy "local grinds" available in Eugene. Not that aren't other restaurants that claim "Hawaiian Food" and are even pretty good. But being from Hawaii, the bar is set pretty high for me. Lani Moku is tucked into a little corner of a larger establishment in Eugene (see BeerGarden reviews). I sought it out after hearing from other Hawaii expats that it was "broke da mout" ono. I wasn't disappointed. Kalua Pig and teriyaki chicken mixed plate with macaroni salad took me right back to Rainbow drive-in and the happy memories of food from home. Not to exclude those more health conscious than I, they offer an Asia slaw salad that is amazingly reminiscent of what my mom used to make, or regular salad for the uninitiated palate. Rice or noodles and you're all set for a taste treat that will remind you of home in all the best ways. Added bonus, you can grab a beer or cider from the bar to enjoy with your local grinds. Born and raised in the isles so I know what local grinds are. Grew up in a kitchen due to my family owning a restaurant throughout my formative and adolescent years. The Pele's chicken is NOT something that would be on the menu of any local food eatery. It's actually a disgrace to use the Pele's name that way. Mae Ploy is a THAI sauce not Hawaiian. Lani Moku is a step up from Hawaiian TImes and Kalani's, but doesn't come close to being considered a local grinds. Tried giving them another shot a few months ago but came away dissatisfied with the end result. We asked for Chicken Katsu, the cashier said "we're all out, but we do have Pele's chicken" then 20 mins later they are out of Pele's chicken but they have chicken katsu?!?!?! Not to mention the numerous times they've run out of rice! Sorry Lani Moku, won't be coming back unless there are a few changes made. Even then I think I'd rather go to EDKH where they know what Aloha is. read more

Lately I have found that they are so inconsistent with service and recipes, usually I go for the Kalua pig plate but it was so salty I could not even finish it. We experienced Lani Moku during a wedding as they catered. I was pleasantly surprised, as were some of my relatives that are native to Hawaii, that the dishes prepared were ono delicious! The garlic chicken, teri beef, spicy Mac salad and rice were the main course. The combination was excellent. I especially loved the Mac salad and loved it more than Zippys! It just had a little bit more mayo, pasta was tender and just a little spice. We had two helpings at the wedding. Whatever you guys are doing, I am very impressed that Eugene has some aloha going on! It's the kind of place you go when you're drunk and don't mind some odd accompaniments. Dinner rolls for sandwich bread, that kind of thing. Not that I mind, but it comes off as somewhat cheaply put together. I know that it's just a food truck, but I feel that they could offer better food if they had better ingredients.
