The bike that I purchased here has been good to me thus far, however, the staff seemed more concerned about selling me various misc. items as opposed to giving me advice on what I need as a beginning mountain bike rider. Purchased a $80 bike lock, however, the staff never checked to see that this Kryptonite lock will actually fit my frame. I was concerned upon initially purchasing the lock and inquired about my concern. They stated that it will work perfectly. After attempting to put the lock on for a few hours, I gave up. I called my buddy who owned a bike shop in Flagstaff, AZ at one point and he came by one weekend and checked it out. He stated that they should have never sold me this lock as it was too big for the frame! When I attempted to return the lock and receive a credit it for it, the manager told me that due to the box being open, he couldn't return it. After stating my claim that it wasn't my fault that his staff sold me the incorrect lock, he got an attitude with me and told me "O well!" Are you serious?! I firmly recommend that anyone stay away from purchasing anything from the Scottsdale location. Also, the manager needs to learn how to be professional and cordial. He was not empathetic whatsoever to my situation and was willing to say anything to circumvent the need to help me. Thanks a lot Dave! I hope your owner knows how well you do your job! Maybe you should take a few lessons from Jim (Manager at Tempe Location) on how to be professional and empathetic! I mean, customer service is a huge part of building a successful business. Customers are the bloodline to your business and trust me when I say, I was not satisfied with your demeanor. read more

The guys at Landis helped us fix our botched assembly job. There were two guys working on our bikes and they were friendly, professional and helpful! They didn't nickel and dime like we were afraid of. They even put on our bottle holder and pedals for free! We were literally shocked at how low the price was to fix our bikes and now we know they are super safe. We LOVE Landis now and would recommend this store to a friend in a heartbeat. We won't be going anywhere else for our bike needs again! read more

Great bike store. Staff is knowledgeable and work hard to treat every customer like a friend. Do not risk buying a bike online when you have a local store this good. The bike will eventually need work and you'll wind up here anyway. Highly recommended. read more

Landis Cyclery - Black canyon trail. First significant ride on my new bike! - Bikes Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

Mostly I go here because it's the closest real bike shop to where I live. Still... the people who work there are all bike enthusiasts and are a wealth of knowledge. Their prices are typical for a LBS (local bike shop) IE a couple bucks more than online. On the upside, you receive your goodies right away and the level of service is good. Just today I bought some new Maxxis Hookworm tires at Landis, came home, put them on.... went out to hit some local street riding spots, busted some air.... and mashed up my back rim. Sigh! :) I was hoping to get a night ride in. read more

Great neighborhood bike shop and they really know there stuff. Same family has been in business since 1912 and in that location since 1957. Very helpful staff and low pressure. Say hi if you see see us riding around. read more

I went here looking for a bike to commute to school. The person who waited on me, Dylan, was rude to me and other customers. Not welcoming, instead curt. He needs to improve his customer interaction. Also, to test ride the bike, I was restricted to just the parking lot. Dylan said this is because of liability issues and they can't prosecute if it's off property. It's not like this at any the other bike shops I visited in the area or out of the area. Customer service is lacking. Other than that, the place seemed pretty good. read more

The best bike shop in town!! We were treated very well by all three employees working and received quality work for a VERY small price! They even threw in a free water bottle for good measure. We had a great experience at Landis :) read more

I got my super cute pink cruiser from some little Asian guy's storage rental in California a couple years ago. It's a cheap but great bike. After realizing how convenient it is, my husband wanted a bike too. He wanted a similar style to mine, but obviously a men's version. We set out to look for one and the first place we stopped was Landis. We certainly didn't buy a bike from here considering the crazy prices that you can charge for cruiser bikes these days, but we did enjoy browsing here. They have a huge selection of all kinds of bikes. The price range starts a bit higher than say, Target's bikes, but I'm sure the quality is amped up here. The staff all seemed very friendly and helpful here, but I don't have a lot of experience. This definitely seems like a great place for bike enthusiasts to go and talk to people who actually know their stuff. read more

Gorgeous day today. This is why we live in Arizona. Dusted off my bike for a ride around the neighborhood and discovered a flat tire and a pump that would not do the job. Threw it all in the Jeep and headed to Landis on 7th Ave and Indian School. The folks had it up on the rack in seconds, and within ten minutes I was heading back out the door ready to begin my ride. Landis is local and a great place to look for a new bike and repair an old one. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Biking is outside in the fresh air and sunshine. What could be a better way to spend a spring day? read more

Amazing service and they fix my bike everytime something breaks fast and detailed.

Took my wife's department store bike in for a gear adjustment this morning - they made some simple adjustments and lubed it up and I was good to go - no charge. Of course I'll be back! read more

I used to go into this location as a kid, and i loved it. everyone was so nice to me and wouldnt hesitate to offer suggestions to help me improve. one time, they talked me out of buying a new kickstand for my mountain bike because they said it might fall. but more recently, i feel very ripped off every time i go to landis. I was charged 40 bucks for them to install a bike computer(the mounting was already in place) and it took them ten minutes and three zip ties. and even more recently, i went in for brake work, and they said they were going to do an entire brake job and they were going to replace all of the brake cable housings. when i got it back, i realized that they had only replaced two of them, but bumped up to cost of each so it was still the same ammount of money. it is sad that this place is now about profit versus genuine customer service, and for that reason, i will be taking my bike elsewhere, (slippery pig, etc) read more

Took in my leaking 29" Specialized 2bliss tire with a sidewall tear. They set me up with a tube on the spot and added more fluid to my rear tire at no extra charge. These guys are attentive, nice and very helpful. Even the dog lying on the counter is chill. Highly recommended! read more

In search of new bikes my husband and I went to three Landis shops, testdriving several different bikes. If one shop didn't have the size or style we wanted to try, they brought it in from another shop or built us one from their inventory. Every staff person we dealt with was courteous and very knowledgeable. We watched them deal with other folk, each and every one with respect. We are happy with our purchases and extremely pleased that we found such an amazing company. read more

Just bought a cruiser so I can run the roads and I hit a few bike shops before I made my decision. These guys are priced as good or better than anywhere else that I tried, and the team there was super nice and helpful. I think that the guy who owns it also works there, whether he was or not the guys were super friendly and very well informed. Cars, bikes, and electronics are something that I need the guy who is selling it to me to know much more about than me and not make me feel like he is using his knowledge to sell me more than I need and that was the feeling I got from these guys. read more

10% Off to the disabled brothers who had their bikes stolen!!!!? who originally spent $1100 for bikes they could hardly afford. Wow! how generous of you!!! If the bike business in Scottsdale is as lucrative as I think it is from reading your reviews, then a 10% discount offer is a slap in the face to those disabled folk in our area!!! Thank God a GOOD SAMARITAN came forward to buy two new bikes for the brothers! Your business might have gained 'The Human Seal of Approval' had you extended a more substantial solution!!! Good Luck in your business...you won't have my business, that's for sure!!!! Shame on you Landis!!! read more

I went into this shop with a road bike that I assembled brand new out of the box. I was just looking to get two wires crimped and some electrical tape to finish the handlebars. Twenty minutes later the guy tells me I need a whole new cable because the wire was to short, I need a tune up. So I ask how much including the electrical tape, he starts quoting a price of upwards 60 plus dollars also the needed to keep the bike for two weeks. I took the bike to Grey Matter they taped the handle bars fixed the derailleur, crimped the wire to it and oiled the chain. When I went to pay the mechanic said, I only did ten minutes worth of work so 10 bucks. I had my single gear shipped directly to GM and they assembled it for 45 and they would've assembled this one for 65. Never again will I go into Landis bike shop, I only came here because of their line of Shimano clip pedals. I'll just buy online. Supporting your local businesses doesn't mean trying to rip someone off. read more

For Valentine's day I bought my gentleman friend a banged up vintage road bike. Romantic, no? I'm a little leary of bike shop guys...Like Dave B. mentioned, I'm used to getting the sort of smug, hard-core cycling enthusiast attitude from local bike shops, but these guys were anything but smug. They were very straightforward and honest about whwat needed to be fixed, and the price on the repairs was definitely fair. It was obvious that they enjoy what they do, which is awesome. Even better, they helped me unload the bike when I brought it in, and then loaded the unwieldy metal beast into the backseat of my car again when I picked it up. I'll definitely continue to take my deteriorating vintage bikes in when they need to be serviced. read more

After calling 8 medical supply companies nobody had a fucking tube. We drove by Landis and thought what's the worst that could happen? The guy working came out and said he could take care of it for me, he filled my tire with goo and fit the new tube abd aired it up for me. Thanks for the help and how quickly we were in and out. I'll definitely head here for any bike or tire needs. read more

My real gripe about this shop is that they don't carry enough in the line of women's mountain bikes. They say that they do, but they don't. Wait, wait, I know, you're saying to yourself "Ian, you allegedly have a penis, why are you griping about there not being enough women's bikes? Are you tucking and riding again? Naughty, naughty Ian!" No, dear friends, I am not going all James Gum from Silence of the Lambs on a nice pink bike while riding at night looking for big fat fat girls to make skin dresses from. Trust me, I'm not. One of the things I enjoy in life is being able to have my intimate partner (or girlfriend) come do the outdoor type activities that I love so much. One of my favorite things I can do with my girlfriend is riding bikes. However, she's short, and has t-rex arms, so I needed to find a Women's Specific bike for her. Landis advertised that they had a whole section, but when we went in to find her a high end scoot to come play on, they had NOTHING. What they did have was suitable for paved trails and around Tempe Town Lake or for bar rides. Not for trail riding behind her favorite fat man. Normally for this I would give a place 1 star, I hate it when a place misrepresents what it is they have and what it is they stand for. They got two stars back because every other time I've been in they've had what I've needed when it comes to tubes, small parts, socks, etc. The staff is helpful and for the most part very cheery. They would have garnered four or five stars even if not for the lack of women's rides. read more

It is not often that I give a place a second chance, but it does happen and I am glad that it happened with Landis. After my rather scathing review I received a message from them, the contents of which shall remain between me and them. I thought it was so above and beyond to personally respond to my review that with a little nervous trepidation I took a bike I needed the bottom bracket removed from in. Well they just lived up to every positive review on here about them. The mechanics were friendly to me, pulled the bottom bracket and hooked me up with a bike box that I needed to ship a frame. It was a great experience and they can definitely expect me in there again and soon. read more

I researched cycle shops online. I found Landis and it looked like their selection and pricing was fair so I stopped to check out their selection. Upon arriving I was met by Wayne. We discussed my desire to get into mountain riding and eventually road riding. My goal was to learn more and start with a mountain bike package. Customer Service: Wayne was excellent. He was knowledgeable and took all the time we needed to pull bikes of racks, fit various Trek models (road and mountain) and discuss the various differences in bike technology. I was originally looking at the entry level 29er based on recommendations from a friend. Wayne was a real help with the selection. After purchasing my bike I was told it would be built and ready to deliver in 2 hours. Sure enough, Wayne called in about 2 hours and I picked up my working mountain bike. This was a fast turn around and delivery. I also watch multiple customers being serviced including off the street customers looking for quick fixes to their biking issues. The shop staff was more than willing to assist and help everyone. Selection: Per Wayne, this location only carries the Trek models for mens mountain and road biking. If you want to see other models he indicated the Scottsdale location would be a good choice. This wasn't an issue for me as I wanted a Trek model. I chose a 29er Trek Mamba ($899.00). Again, I was considering the Wahoo ($549.00) and looked at the upgrade to the Marlin ($699.00). In the end, a further upgrade to the Mamba made total sense (better front suspension with lock out and adjustable rebound, better wheels, etc) for the money. It will also allow me to get back into biking on a unit that will grow with me a bit. So far, I love the bike. I only have 20 miles on in in 2 days. I'm still getting used to it. I'll add a bike review on landiscyclery.com later. Shop Layout. For a relatively small shop there is a good selection with separate mens, womens, and kids areas including their own bikes. The womens and kids areas are dressed up a bit better than the utilitarian mens area. There is a large service area in the middle of the store. You can watch your bike being worked on for quick items. There is a good sized accessories area with modern equipment. It's a nice shop. Bike Test: The store has a large parking lot out back where you can test ride any bike. Overall, I had a very positive experience for my first time at this shop. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is due to it being my only experience to this point. I'll be back in a couple of weeks for a bike service and update my review. Feel free to use this shop with confidence based on my experience to date. read more

Absolutely the best service I've ever had at a bike shop. My husband purchased a bike for me for Christmas from them and we needed the bike rack for the baby bike seat installed. So we went back with the bike rack that I purchased somewhere else and they were more than willing to install it for us for only $15. Even though they sell bike racks there, they did not pressure me to purchase one from them. They made the appt for us and let us leave the bike there till it was ready the following week. The day they promised it would be ready was the day they called us to pick it up. I went with the baby seat to make sure that the rack would fit and the gentleman at the register was very helpful and installed the seat at no extra cost. I'm so happy that my baby can ride with me and confident that he's going to be safe in the seat. The nice man also helped me put the bike in the truck for me. All around I would highly recommend this place. read more

There's a reason Landis has been in business since 1912: amazing customer service, friendly & knowledgeable staff, first rate service and quality products. I'm a big fan of the service and I did get myself a really nice Trek, she's sexy. Thank you Landis for all your help.

After all the positive reviews of this place, plus my partner recommending it, I thought I would stop in at 2:15p on a Tuesday. 20 minutes or so later nobody has so much as asked me what I needed. I guess I'll just take my money and business somewhere else to buy myself a new bike. It's a shame; I saw some floor models I liked too. read more

On July 26 2014 I went into landis cycle for the first time to purchase a bike. I had not been b on a bike since I was a child. Mr Rob Holden assisted me by asking a few questions about what type of bike I was v interested in and my price range. We both decided on the Trek 7.5. Great commuter bike for riding around town. Mr Rob Holden then measured me for the correct size bike was even given a class on changing gears which I didn't think even important in bike riding. The new bike was ordered and I picked it up a few days later. Landis cycle has your old grandfather's garage feel about it as you walk in. Very reminiscent of child hood days of bike riding. Since purchasing my bike Yes I have had the dreaded flat tires. On different occasions I took my bike in the same day and the repairs were done right away with hardly any wait time. I love this place and highly recommend this place of you want a great new bike of you liking along with fast and efficient service. Tim Ferguson repaired my second flat in no time. I was in and out in a jiffy. I also want to thank Mr. Wayne Ashley for making me laugh everytime I visit. To all the crew at Landis Cyclery/ 712 W. Indian school Road in Phoenix AZIZ. Thanks a lot. I have been using Landis as my LBS for the past few years and have always great service. These guys are always friendly and very helpful. They really go the extra mile. I live in the central Phoenix area so there are certainly a lot of options when it comes to bike and bike accessory related shops but because of my experience at Landis they've always been my number 1 choice. I recently purchased a Trek Emonda from them and couldn't have been happier with the service I received from start to finish. Thanks guys!! read more

Short and to the point. Justin and Jeff go out of their way keep me rolling. Best crew in town.

Our son recommended this place to us. So today we took our bikes in to leave them for tuneups. To our amazement we got to take our bikes back home with us. They did some minor adjustments and sent us on our way for $8, when they could have kept our bikes and charged us for the tuneups when we came back. They are very efficient, friendly and honest. They took care of us right away. We will recommend this place to all our family and friends. read more

This is the BEST bike shop in the greater phoenix area, they are always very friendly and helpful. They have a great selection of cruisers and road bikes to check out in the shop, along with all of the gear you could ask for. I think the shop is more geared towards serious cyclers who want to go fast - way more racing and cycling gear than fixie/cruiser stuff. We ended up getting a big purchase - a new water bottle holder for my husbands bike. Ha! But, they were incredibly helpful and great to visit with, very positive associates and overall a good trip. read more

This place and these people are AWESOME!!! I dropped in last Saturday hoping they could help me find a way to raise my handlebars to make my bike more comfortable. Even though they were quite busy, I was greeted immediately and asked what I needed. I explained the issue with my bike and friendly/efficient dude #1 went to work on a solution. He explained what he was doing as he went (and also explained that he was aiming for the least expensive solution). During the process, he had me take my bike outside 3 times to make sure it was set up perfectly. He also fixed my squeaky brake pads. All in all, he probably spent 45 minutes on it, and I was out the door, parts and all, for $26. I couldn't have dreamt up a better experience than what I got that day. Thank you! read more

They not only helped me figure out what I needed for my bike, but then changed out all the parts for me too. He also suggested and made an adjustment to make it more comfortable for me.
