My girlfriend and I needed help getting our bike tires to the appropriate pressure. They were glad to help us and were very quick and friendly. We will be back in the future. read more

I recently got into cycling and the whole staff, especially Dylan, has been so helpful! Every time I go into the store I learn so much. All of the Landis employees are super knowledgeable and go out of their way to help me to make the most out of my new hobby - they really care about the products they sell. Dylan has also showed me various routes and rides to take around the Phoenix area. I highly recommend! read more

Best shop in town. These guys rock. Always super nice and always have what I need. All of the guys ride which is a big plus.

Last year, after having a less than stellar experience with another downtown bike shop, I brought a friends bike into the Landis bike shop on Indian School and 7th Ave. The bike had a bent part that did not seem repairable and even the guys at Landis were not sure they could fix it without it breaking, however they decided they would try and see what they could do. Not only did they fix it but they cleaned up the gears and when filling the tire (which were pretty worn) the tire burst so they gave me a new tube and tire and charged only $10 for the repair. Even thought I was 100% sure the burst tire was because it was old and brittle they would not let me pay anything toward the replacement. The way I see it they may have lost a few bucks on that transaction, but they have gained me as a customer for life. Howie M. read more

Excellent Service. They've done several service repairs for me without charging. It's definitely a great place to buy a bike knowing you'll have service behind the bike after you purchase. read more

I stopped by Landis today looking for a bike part for one bike, and to have them adjust the rear derailleur on an old road bike for me. The guys at Landis didn't have the required part but contacted the manufacturer by telephone. Based on the manufacture's recommendation, Landis provided me the necessary information to contact the manufacturer's customer service department to obtain the parts. (they could have ordered the parts and charge me a mark up) The guys also offered to perform and "safety check" on the road bike while I waited. They aired up the tires and made some adjustments to the bike. When they were done they wouldn't take any money for the work when offered. About two months ago I stopped by Landis for some bike tools and some grease. They were out of the small tubes of grease. They asked me what I needed the grease for (install a rebuild kit on my pedals). One the guys went to the back of the shop and got me more than enough grease to rebuild both pedals and put it in a small zip lock bag for me. This saved me a return trip to Landis, or stopping by another shop, in order to complete the service on my bike. This is typical of my experience when dealing with the folks at Landis on West Indian School RD. Many thanks to the Landis crew. read more

Such a phenomenal place! First time I've invested into a bike...just a little commuter but the staff was so helpful. Got me the exact bike I wanted...which I get compliments on it all the time. I told them what I was going to use it for, told them what I was looking for and my budget. The woman helping me wondered around for a couple of minutes and came back with my dream bike. Nailed it the first time and was right in my budget! I've been riding it almost everyday now to work and on the weekends. Need to get it in for a tune up (which is free in the first 90 days). Wether you're looking for a new bike or just general biking gear, I highly recommend this place! Definitely the best bike store in central phoenix!!! read more

I've been going to Landis for over 15 years. Always great service and speedy, thanks for keeping my tires rolling guys!

This store will be my go to for bike repairs from now on. The employees are friendly and helpful, repairs are fast, and it's very affordable. I'll be back for any repairs in the future. Highly recommend! read more

I shipped my bike out to Phoenix and took it to Landis to have them reassemble it. The handlebars and pedals had been removed so it would fit in the box - this was a standard reassemble-after-shipping. I had to schedule an appointment a week in advance. I asked for the standard reassemble, which was $35. When I called they said this would not include a tune-up but would assemble the bike in basic working condition. When I got there, the barrel adjuster for the left brake was missing and the left brake did not work at all. The right brake was sticking. It was not safe to ride - hardly what I would call "basic working condition." I asked about the barrel adjuster and was told that that was how it was when it came out of the box, and the tech had checked the box and it wasn't in the box. Then I was told, It must have been that way and you just didn't notice. That was the first insult - I mean really, I had ridden my bike to the shop to get it packed in the box. It was impossible that I wouldn't have noticed. I was trying to figure out how it might have come off, and all I could get from the guy who was "helping" me was "I don't know, I didn't put it in the box." Yes, well, how would a barrel adjuster come off, it's a closed loop? Obviously you didn't put it in the box, but how could that have happened? "I don't know, I didn't put it in the box. They must have lost it when they packed your bike." Yes, maybe, and maybe not. I wanted to know how it might have happened but all I got was attitude. Well, either way the bike wasn't safe to ride, so I said, well, I thought it would be in rideable condition. I was told, well, to fix that would be a tune-up which is an additional $20. By then I had decided that with so many bike shops to choose from in the Valley, Landis clearly had enough customers that they could afford to cop an attitude with a new customer and they didn't need my business. I know this shop has gotten great reviews, and one crabby employee who just wanted to lock up and get out of there doesn't speak for all. but for whatever it's worth, the asshole with the big holes in his ears lost them this customer, and not only the additional $20 but the extra $70 I was prepared to spend on a new lock and other accessories, not to mention the road bikes I was eyeing as well. read more

Tim was excellent. Very nice, helpful, and professional. There was a manufacturer's defect in the headlight I purchased and Landis sent it back and got it fixed free of charge. When I got it again I came back in and said it was still broken. Tim asked if I knew about the sleep mode. I did not. I admitted to being embarrassed but Tim made me feel better. He also took a moment to show me how it worked. In a situation like that, where I as a customer come in claiming something they sold me doesn't work when in fact the problem is in my own ignorance, I feel there is ample opportunity to be less-than-understanding on their part. But Tim was totally awesome about the whole thing even given the circumstances. Would definitely recommend this store to anyone who has bicycling needs! read more

Totally upset with my experience here, it was the same last year when I asked for a tune up. I went in today and they basically flat out refused to help me check my right brake when I asked them to check into it, words like "it's physics" and other things as stupid as "plastic bends" were used same with "see how short this cord is?" I don't need to hear that! I've been riding bicycles my whole life till recently and even with the right sprocket adjustment I could tell something inside the brake handle was stripped and it would go loose again thus causing the huge slip....What the hell is wrong with these people?? Don't they want to make money? If I go into a tire shop and say, "I want these tires changed" they don't say, "oh your tires are still fine for another year" No they are all to ready to milk you for every dollar you got. What do these people think I am? A pauper?? Had the same experience last year , just awful...wasn't like this 12 years ago when I first had my bike serviced there....These people need to wake up!! read more

I was having a hard time getting my tubeless tire to seat. with time being at a premium I decided that I would run to Landis to see if they had better luck. When I got to the shop the mechanic took the wheel and tried to inflate the tire but said that the tape was bad. Told me they could replace they the tape and that would solve the problem. I agreed, they did, I paid them and took the wheel home. Fast forward 1 week. I go to get my bike ready for a ride, and again I can't get the tire to stay inflated. I take the wheel back to Landis and another mechanic tries to inflate the tire, with the same result as before, air leaking from the spokes. The original mechanic comes over says something to the extent of, "I taped that wheel he must have messed with it and that's why it is not holding air". I said that I did nothing more than try and inflate the tire. Response, " you definitely did something to it" turned and walked away. The new mechanic took the wheel apart and the original mechanic re-taped the wheel. Again the air was leaking out of the spokes. His reasoning it must be the wheel not his tape job. They sad they would research it and get a solution to me. It has been 4 days and I have not heard from them yet. I have never been to a shop where the client was blamed for the inabilities of their staff. This is the second time I have left this shop feeling like they would rather put down customers then help them. I will never return to this shop. read more

I went into this place yesterday. I walked in and the guy at the counter couldn't even bother to lift up his head, then he mumbles "what can I do for you". I tell him I was looking to get my handlebars raised as they aren't comfortable. He says nothing. I then ask if that's possible and he looks and says "nope, you'll need a whole new stem". I ask him if he thought it was worth it and he says "it's up to you". Nothing else. No advice, no close look and no explanation. I ask him what it would cost. This guy looked so hassled. After getting up and looking at the bike he then explains why the one I have can't be extended. He then goes to the back and comes back with two parts, an extender and a stem. He puts some info in the computer and says it would be about $60 + some labor. I asked if I had any other options, if there were any other stems he knew of that could help that may be more affordable and all got was a "nope". I sat there considering for a moment and asked when it could be done. He says not until next Tuesday. I made an appointment but decided to look around a bit more at some other shops. I took my bike to the Slippery Pig on central. Talk about a different world all together. Much more laid back and friendly. I was welcomed as I walked in and directed to the back of the store. I was told I would likely have to order a new stem but it was fairly inexpensive. I was told to go to the counter and I would be helped as I approached the guy from the back ran back up front and said they do in fact haf the stem in stock. Cost $19.99. Labor $12. Less than half price! The guy at Landis couldn't even offer me any alternatives or suggestions. I'm new to riding and using my bike to commute to work so I imagine i'll be using the Slippery PIg quite a bit. Think about that.....HALF THE PRICE. read more

I understand that because of the current state of affairs, Landis does not allow anyone to shop in the store. No problem, their website can take orders for curbside pickup. So I ordered a bunch of needed accessories, ONLY choosing options that were listed as "in-stock" and available for pickup. Simple stuff, like extra tubes, a couple of bike tools, etc. Waited almost 2 hours after ordering to call in and check on the status, was put on hold indefinitely and finally hung up after about 20 minutes. Another 20 minutes go by and they called me back to tell me that none of the items were in stock and that it would take a week to 10 days to ship. Again, I understand that this stupid virus is affecting businesses, but c'mon ... this is basic inventory control for basic, everyday items. Cancelled the order, I'll just deal with Amazon Prime from now on. Would have preferred to support my local store. Sorry guys, if you don't have simple things like tubes in stock, I don't see any reason to shop with you. read more

After having a horrible experience at The Bike Barn I was on yelp searching for a new place for my bike restoration needs. I'm new to the bicycling community and bike building. Just had my bike tuned up, paid $45, and the tires are almost flat. Seems like they should check the tires for a tune up, its not like they have to change the spark plugs. Don't go here! read more

I was packing for a camping trip on Thursday night and my mountain bike had a flat. I found Landis online and saw that they opened at 9 am. I had also been looking for a bike rack for my cars hitch and coincidently Landis was a Thule dealer. I showed up Friday morning 10 min early, they opened 5 min early and let me in. I spoke to Rob and showed him my rear flat, inquired about a bike rack and explained that I was wanting to get on the road to go camping ASAP. He handed my bike off to another guy who immediately began working on it and then Rob began showing me the racks, and the one they had on the floor was the upgraded model of the one I had wanted to get. I told him I would take it and asked if they offered assembly, he said they did but that I could have the floor model (obviously preassembled). I paid while he was taking it off the display rack then he took it out to my car, put it on and then demonstrated how it worked and explained all its features while he was putting my bike, with the fixed tire, on the back. I pulled out of the driveway and I remembered looking at the clock which said 9:10 that whole encounter took 15 min (they let me in 5 min early). I got everything I wanted. Thanks! read more

They helped me with a special order of Shimano cycling shoes that I was unable to find at other local stores. (I have small feet.) Plus the salesperson installed my SPD clips for me! Generally friendly service and I would recommend this shop to others. Parking is easier behind the store. read more

I have purchased three bicycles from Landis over the years and most recently purchased some fenders for the the most recent one (a Trek FX). Within a week of purchase I returned them because they would not bolt up to the fork of the Trek due to a short mounting bracket on the fender (would not reach the threaded hole for mounting) and they refused to return them for the $70.58 cash that I paid, even with a receipt! I cannot in good conscience do business with Landis Cyclery even if they are family owned and have been in business for 105 years. I need someone who will treat me fairly. Loyalty to the local bike shop is something that I truly believe in, but not this one. Farewell Landis Cyclery! read more

We have had nothing but good experiences at this shop. On our last visit, we stopped in because my son's bike tire was flat and we were trying to change it ourselves but really didn't know how. A very helpful employee showed us what we needed and then gave my 12-year-old a tire-changing lesson until he had the task mastered. I was so pleasantly surprised and very grateful. read more

Bought my new road bike here a couple of years ago. I need a 58cm bike, and they brought in the bikes that I had interest in for test rides. I now have 9000 miles on the bike, but stopped driving the 50 miles to the Landis Scottsdale shop for personal convenience. But, the condition of the bike kept eroding despite authorized service at other shops. So, back to Landis Scottsdale. Picked up he bike sooner than promised, fully serviced. Upon arriving home I went out for a quick ride and my bike is like new. Smooth, quiet, easy shifting, and quick. Best help in buying a bike, and best mech's in the valley. These folks treat your bike like their own, and the drive is definitely merited. read more
