about six months ago, my bike got stolen. I brought it to Landis and they worked with me these last six months rebuilding my bike that was stolen. I told him I was in a little bit of a financial situation and they were totally cool with helping me out. They let me do payments and they really did a great job on the rebuild of my bike. Great experience and the best deal for a tune-up! I brought my Trek bike here for a basic tune-up since it was the cheapest option in the area at $79.99. There was nothing wrong with my bike, just needed routine maintenance. I dropped it off at 10 a.m., and they said it would be ready by the next day, but it ended up being done the same day, which was a nice surprise! My bike has been working fantastic since the tune-up. I purchased a Trek Dual sport 2 back in 2021 and thought I'd left a review but I guess I forgot at the time. Lovin my bike still running great but I did take it in within 90 days for the free tune up they provide after purchase and they tweaked a few things. Also had the unfortunate luck to have 2 flats a couple times and they showed me how to fix it in the future after fixing it while I watched, very helpful! I was used to fixing flats on my road bike but this was a first on the hybrid so being a visual person seeing it was very helpful. I recall visiting this shop a few times before finally deciding on the Trek dual and each time the staff was always available to answer any questions I had about any of the bikes in stock. Do yourself a favor and go to another bike shop, maybe a smaller non-chain store. I brought my bike assuming they would be able to handle the issue but it almost felt like I was dealing with children. Yelp reviews made me feel confident, but then I realized that most reviews were based on tire changes. The people I dealt with were just cold, almost no attention to customer service. A friend warned me after the fact that he had similar situation, just picked up his bike and took it to another shop. Come here to maybe buy a bike shop or get a tire change. Bike fixes, look for a more knowledgeable, reputable bike shop. read more

We purchased two bikes online yesterday, that showed as being available in the store. When I called today to find out when I might be able to pick them up, the "customer service" person, Dave I think was his name, was extremely gruff and unhelpful. He wasn't forthcoming and I had to pull to find out any info. And then he called me a "dickhead" as he was hanging up the phone, only to act like he didn't know what I was talking about when I called right back to call him out on it. Good luck and hope that you don't have to deal with their gruff and unhelpful customer service. If there is a problem with your bike, it is not going to be fun to deal with this kind of attitude. I went to Landis for the first time over the weekend to finally address a persistent flat tire (which was caused by a punctured inner tube). The folks there were SUPER nice, knowledgeable, and helpful--and they replaced my inner tube for free since it was a manufacturer's defect! I love that I was able to come in with my cheap little beach cruiser and not be made to feel like I wasn't deserving of being at a cycle shop; the people at Landis are instead humble and kind, and I would 100% return again. read more

My husband and I had a really great experience purchasing Trek bikes from Perry. We arrived thinking we wanted Specialized, but they didn't have the Rockhopper model we were looking for in stock. Although the store itself was closed for us to enter due to COVID-19, Perry was very accommodating and brought out numerous bikes for us to try in the back. He was very thorough and was sure to answer all of our questions. We ended up deciding on matching Trek Marlin 5 mountain bikes, but one needed to be built and the other was at a different location. Perry made sure to call the other store and have it ready for us to pickup that day. He also apologized for not having it in stock, which was nice. By the time we had picked up the bike from Tempe, we were able to return and get other the newly built bike. Perry even threw in some extra gear since we had to drive across town and then come back to get the other bike. His kindness and professionalism were really refreshing. Due to the Pandemic, Landis is only taking "order online and pickup at store orders. No problem. I go to their website, pick a bike, pay for it, then drive an hour (One way) to pick it up. Website says it's "In stock" so one would think it would be ready for me to take home by the time I arrive. Boy was I WRONG! An employee greets me at the door (Public is not allowed in the building due to aforementioned Pandemic). I give the guy my info, he goes inside comes back out a few minutes later and says the bike isn't assembled and I would have to come back around 5pm. I let him know I drove an HOUR one way and nowhere on the website does it say the bike isn't assembled yet and I would have to wait. I asked him to check one of the other local Landis stores to see if they have an assembled one and the guy wouldn't do it until I asked for a refund. He went inside and 15 minutes later comes back out and says the other stores don't have it assembled either and that they will issue me a refund if I want. I was pretty surprised that he didn't even offer to get a manager, considering I spent $600 on a bicycle. No one else has the bike in stock, so I reluctantly didn't push for the refund. Now I'll have to drive an hour home, an hour back, and an hour home again. This bike is for my 11 year old son and needless to say he was pretty disappointed. Bottom line, I bought the bike from Landis because they were the only shop that had it. But I promise I will spend exactly ZERO dollars in the place ever again. I also promise that I will tell EVERYONE I know not to shop there. You gained a lost a customer in a matter of an hour. Your customer service is CRAP! EPIC FAIL Landis Cyclery. read more

Thanks for the quick and efficient service, most shops were quoting 35 dollars and up to get the flat fixed on my son's bike. I pulled up to Landis on 7th Ave and was in and out with the bike quickly, around 15 minutes, for less than 20 dollars. The gentleman who helped me, long hair with glasses, didn't catch his name forgive me, was very polite and helpful. Would recommend anyone come here for bike service and repair. Had not been to a bike shop in quite a long time and this is the first time at Landis Cyclery since moving to Arizona so I wasn't sure what to expect. The service is phenomenal! I thought I needed a tune-up but they confirmed that I'd had a tune-up before putting my bike in storage. They still did a little fine tuning and inflated the tires. Its nice to have good experiences during these times, even small gestures of kindness and somehow great customer service at a time that most rules and policies have changed, customers are anxious, and health safety has us all a little unstable. Gage was one of those positive experiences with his service, his commitment to care and safety, and above and beyond delivery of not only the last minute service I needed on my bike but taking a few extra minutes to provide suggestions on how to provide some bike maintenance myself. At a time when many of us have lost our incomes, the latter was absolutely amazing to me, where other places would be more concerned about their cash register. Gyms having been closed, I bought a bike (never cared for it before), so that I can relieve my anxieties and maintain decent cardio fitness. Since then I've been back for additional service and have two friends also go there as we all got into biking suddenly. Gage, thank you man. The rudest, most arrogant, most condescending bike shop in all of Phoenix. I took my granddaughter into the shop as we are going around looking for a decent bicycle for her. I consider us to be working class people, but solid working class who are not afraid to make a decent purchase when required and if needed. However, the rather overweight older white man in the shop basically told me in front of my granddaughter that we were too downmarket for the shop, the shop was too upmarket for us and perhaps we might consider a bicycle from Good Will or something like that. I was furious, just furious, and wanted to give him a tongue lashing but held my comments in front of the little one. We were very properly dressed, we are not white trash, like many, yes the budget is limited but if she had found something that she wanted we would have bought it. I have never, ever seen so much white male entitlement in one shop and in one place in Phoenix. It was revolting. So my advice to you if you are a woman ... do not even bother to go in unless you like being trashed, looked down upon, condescended to and generally treated poorly. I've been to the 7th Ave & Indian School twice in the last couple weeks with both my Specialized road bike for a tuneup and my Electra Straight 8 to have a twisted chain fixed. The team there is fantastic. They greet you quickly, they are learned and most importantly, honest. I've been to a lot of bike shops, and the team here is at the top. Fairly priced, and they only do what is necessary for your bike. I thought my Specialized needed a tuneup, and got a call telling me everything was in great shape, and the only recommendation would be to replace the grip tape. It is an amazing thing when a company over delivers: locally owned and in business since 1912 for a reason! read more

I walked into Landis yesterday knowing I wanted a new road bike, but with very little experience in buying a good bike. I've had a mountain bike the last 20 years, but had no idea what innovations had occurred in road bikes. Wayne at Landis was the perfect informative guide to choosing my new bike. He completely respected my budget, spoke to me like an intelligent human being and answered every question. He searched high and low for a bike just my size that also met my needs. Then he customized the bike I got to fit me specifically! Fantastic! I had already been to another bike store in the morning where the staff was not interested in helping me. The staff is very good about conforming to COVID standards to keep everyone safe. They are very professional about selling bikes and have a good selection and good prices. The shop is a little different story, if you want to bring a bike in for service, there is no where to bring your bicycle into the store an get checked in. They are adamant that the shop is 3 weeks out and tell you at every turn that it will be 3 weeks, and start to get a little snarky about it. I would come back to buy another bike, but for accessories or service I will find another source. If the 4 guys sitting around the shop would work on bikes, they may not be 3 weeks behind all the time. read more

I went to this place a couple days ago to have my kids flats fix. The guy at the front seemed nice and professional (at the beginning) one I approach him with my request, he stopped me and ask me "did you put fix-a-flat in the tires". I explain to him that my kids had in fact added some into the tires for a quick fix. He then said, "get these things out of here!!! I will not touch them or let any of my staff work on your bikes" I asked him why. He said that "fix-a-flat" was EXTREMELY toxic and will burn trough his clothes and his hands if he was to touch it. After a few more minutes of trying to understand the bull shit this guy was telling me, he grabbed one of the bikes and took it outside him self. We are really lucky to live so close to this place. These guys are great. Very friendly, very knowledgeable, and their prices are fair. We went in shortly after moving into the neighborhood, we have two fairly new beach cruisers, my back tire was a little wobbly, and my husband needed a light. They looked over both of our bikes and let us know what they needed, aired up the tires, and set up an appointment to true up my back tire, it was done on time and for a good price. They also upgraded my husbands bike light for a better one, really nice of them. read more

I am a little disappointed. I came in for a repair on my creaky cranks, and they were very accommodating. The repair didn't work and they said it my be a warranty, and would reach out to the MFR. The first time a checked in on the status, they were a little short with me and said they would give me a status in a couple of days. That was a week ago, so I stopped in today and the mechanic was just a plain jerk. I paid for a repair that didn't work, I would happily pay for the warranty, but I won't be going back. I spend a lot of money on bikes, and this just tells me to shop on line. A rider on the trail recommended Crank Monkey. I will try them next. read more
