Leon was great! He quickly and expertly installed a new inner tube, new pedals and gave me a bike map. I will definitely return and recommend his shop! He was very friendly and welcoming. read more

C needed a new bike as he had outgrown his old one. Looked bike shops up on Yelp and found this gem. Great little bike shop that's in central Phoenix. Owner is really nice and friendly. Lots of new and used bikes from which to choose. C picked out a used kids bike and the owner made sure it fit C before we bought it. We ended up turning a few weeks later so dad could get a new bike! read more

Was able to do a difficult repair and a very nice gentleman. Have a few more lined up to bring in! read more

This bike shop has been around since 1958. My parents bought my first bike from here. I recently needed new tires on my bike that is about 20 years old and took it here. Leon the owner of Try Me Bike Shop, came out, unloaded my bike for me, gave me a quote and said it'd be ready by 3 pm, the same day. I went to pick it up, paid the bill and Leon loaded the bike in my vehicle and then told me he checked the gears out, the ones on the right were good, the ones on the left were sticky and didn't work well, so he cleaned them up. He also oiled the chain too, all extra at no charge. This is a long time local shop in Central Phoenix. If you need biking stuff, you won't be sorry to give him your business. read more

Great bike shop! They have a decent selection of used bikes (even vintage), accessories and even unicycles. Leon was super helpful and nice. Would def go back and tell anyone that's looking for repairs or a new bike, go check it out and support small business! read more

I've been looking into buying a new bike for a few months now and after dealing with very unhelpful people at big retailers I decided to try out an actual bicycle shop. I found Try Me here on yelp and decided to stop in and check out their beach cruisers. Leon was there and he was very helpful and kind with answering all my questions and providing honest recommendations. I love that you are able to try out the bikes in the parking lot , it really helped me make my decision. Overall I had a wonderful experience here and I LOVE my new bike! I will definitely come back here again for repairs/bike purchases! read more

Try Me Bicycle Shop - So happy with my new bike! - Bike Rentals Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

I came in here for a bike lock all was good and even got a map of all the trails in Phoenix. Later on in the week I called, left a voicemail of how I would need to take apart my bike for an airplane ride. No call back. Cool. So I called the next day and they said sure come in- now in no where did the dude explain to me it would be a day of service because he is booked up. Even tho I mentioned on the phone I would arrive in on Saturday because I would be flying out on Monday morning. I get there Saturday, but it was a no, I can't really help you. It's a one man show so I can't blame him for not remembering and being extremely tied up. read more

I went in two weeks ago to look at new bikes. Leon helped me look at the selections and answered all the questions I had. He even helped me solve a problem with my bike rack. A week later I popped my tire on a nail. Leon replaced my tube and got my bike up and running in no time! This is a great little bike shop and I will definitely recommend it to my friends. read more

In town for a convention for the week. Three guys wanted to go Mountain biking. We were told the best place to go would be Try Me on Hatcher Rd. We went and met Jeff and he showed us three bikes. We agreed on a deal. We came back the next day. Jeff had the bikes and safety equipment ready to go. We left his place and rode the bikes around the corner about a 1/4 mile to the mountain trails and had a great time. Returned the bikes a couple hours later and Jeff gave us some great advice on where to eat and drink. He was dead on. Loved the Spoke & Wheel. Great happy hour at the bar. $5 for a pitcher of craft beer. Anyway, Jeff's bikes were excellent and we had a great time. We will be back next time we are in Phx. This is the place to go if you want to rent a mountain bike and go for a ride in the mountains. It was awesome. Loved it. And the Price was fantastic. read more

Try Me Bicycle Shop - Mountain Biking in Phoenix on a TRY ME Bike Shop Rental - Bike Rentals Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

Avoid this place like the plague! Clearly a "right-winger" and expresses his disdain for those that aren't of the "Caucasian Persuasion"! Went in to buy a couple of inner tubes and the guy made like he only served white people! While in the process of paying, he moved on, (before the transaction completed), to the white guy behind me in a way that even made his customer look at him stupid. After bringing his attention back to the customer he had in front of him, I took my purchase and left. I would highly recommend that if your a person of color, particularly a BLACK PERSON, take your business elsewhere! read more

I can't say enough nice things about this shop. I was super lucky that a cute cruiser bike was being dropped off. I was in the right place at right time. The person just bought a nice new bike from the shop and I got their old bike. They were kind enough to replace several parts and pieces to the old bike in order that I would have a nice ride. It was more than I would have expected from any business owner. They could've sold the old bike for a lot more. And, didn't even have to do all of the upgrades before I became the new owner. It is new to me. I am super thankful! read more

Hell Leon I have to tell every body about how nice it was finding this bike shop in the area that I was in. part of Phoenix. I am From Quartzsite Az. 150miles away looking for used rims for my artist type work I make Ferris Wheel Bird Feeders. the owner was so nice to me, gave me a great deal on Five Front Bike Rims. I will be sure to come back to his shop again in September... Great person to talk too and he under standing of what I was looking for David B, Quartzsite Az. read more

I'm ashamed to share that my 10-year old bike still has the hair on the tires, AND the tires were flat from having been in my storage shed for 6 years. Figured it was a good idea to get a tune up (and a helmet) before trying to ride again! The shop owner was so nice! $40 for the tune up and even though it was going to be ready later that day, he advised I leave it a bit to make sure the tires didn't need a new tube (they didn't). He patiently showed me how to put the bike rack on my car - even though I didn't buy it from him, I just brought it from home. He didn't try to sell me the most expensive option of the accessories and in the end, I got a tune up, a helmet, a bike lock and a headlight for $128 (including tax). He taught me about the gears on my bike and gave me a map of all the bike paths in Phoenix! All the while, charming banter. I feel like I've made a new friend! Not only can you buy bicycles and any accessory you may need for your bike at this little shop on Hatcher Road, I understand you can rent bikes here too; and, the shop is right by the canal so if you don't already own a bike but feel like riding, this would be a great launching point. Of course, I SAY that... let's see if I actually get on mine now... read more

Tucked on the western edge of the Foothill Acres neighborhood in North Phoenix or what I would call "The Slope", Try Me Bicycle Shop has been in business for nearly 40 years and has been collecting the odd part for every type of bike over that time. The showroom is filled with cruisers and comfort bikes, new and used. No high end bikes here but they do have an inventory of old and hard-to-find parts, good service and free air that makes this place. read more

After reading the Yelp reviews I decided to give Try Me a try for my bicycle tune up. They were not great and I wouldn't recommend them to others. I called on Saturday to ask how long a tune up took and they told me it could be same day if I dropped it off in the morning. I came in Sunday morning and was then told it wouldn't be ready until Tuesday, not a big deal, but also not what I was told on the phone. The gentleman that took my bike in wasn't the friendliest; he seemed really busy and a little impatient. When I picked the bike up on Tuesday I took it for a spin and it was running great. My main complaint is that it was returned to me filthy, dusty and full of grease, they didn't wipe it down at all. The second complaint is that I had put on decorative air plugs on the tires and they were not put back on. Unfortunately I didn't notice this until I got home. Should I need a tune up in the future I would take my bike to a place who puts a bit more care in to their services. read more

This is a GREAT bike shop. My son has decided he loves to bike and so we went to 3 bike shops before finding this gem. Nice prices for an entry level biker (or a bike collector, great vitage bikes, or a serious biker might find something, but since we are new at this, well...that's all I can review). The guy that worked there (not the owner) was sooo nice! He worked with my son on how to change gears and he hooked us up with a new seat. After a weekend of more biking than I have done in 10 years, I am going to head back and get my son's bike fixed (he crashed), look into a bike helmut and a new bike for the hubby! :-) I really liked this place! read more

A local small business to support. A great place for quick and easy bike repairs. Great pricing on tune ups.

The owner is a great guy, very friendly, takes time to explain things, and gives you what you need! I bought a bike for my younger brother, which he rode around a bit, and decided he wanted something a little more rugged -- we brought it back (with a flat tire and slightly bent rim - whoops!) and the owner offered to swap it out for a comparable bike, helped my brother pick one, and adjusted the seat --- DID I MENTION THIS WAS ALL WITHIN 3 MINUTES OF CLOSING TIME!? He stayed a little late to help us and then even recommended a restaurant close by (Wagon Wheel - figures, right?) This area is shady, but the owner and the store is not! 5/5 all the way! :) read more

Great place we found an stopped the sad day I had to drop a goo d friend off at the human society across the street. My wife was looking for a Pink Beach Cruiser an they ha the perfect bike. Like them so well I sold 10 year old Trek 720 Hybrid to a friend an found a nice gun metal mens beach cruiser for me. Was a bit more than I wanted to spend at the time, but they are worth every penny Great Honest guys, that even buy older bikes read more

I am on vacation and the tire to my BOB stroller got a flat. I called Try Me and they were so friendly and told me to come right in, no appointment needed! That was a relief on a busy memorial day weekend! My dad brought the tire in and they were done in 10 minutes! Highly recommend! read more

My boys needed new bikes, so we headed to Try Me Bicycle Shop today just to browse. They both ended up finding bikes that they loved, one new & one used. Leon, the owner, gave us his time and attention as we browsed the shop, and he answered all our questions. Once the bikes were selected, he adjusted the seats to fit my boys & let them ride them around to try them out...just to be sure they were the right bikes for them. My kids enjoyed the fun atmosphere of the shop...lots of cool little personal touches everywhere you look. I enjoyed pleasant conversation with the owner as my kids tried out their bikes. This is a great bike shop. read more

We have bought four bikes plus several accessories from this place and have had a bunch of repairs done. It has been the same gentleman (Leon) there almost every time. I believe he is the owner but can't be sure. He is the nicest guy ever and super knowledgeable about his craft. These are the small businesses you love to see succeed in this country. This neighborhood has its struggles I'm sure but the shop is clean, the prices are reasonable and the service is excellent. read more

Loved the selection, prices, and friendly service. Happy to support this excellent local business.

Try Me is a great shop. Leon is awesome, friendly and as helpful as it gets. Try Me is the poster child for small business. Unlike others, I did not find the owner friendly. I found him to be a bag of douche of galactic proportions. I suppose this place is OK for average bikes needing average repairs, but when I brought in my road bike for a repair of moderate difficulty for any competent bike shop, because the owner was incapable of doing the repair he chose to insult me by telling me I should sell my bike and get something more appropriate for someone of my physique. At the moment I'm a little overweight, but here's the facts: every summer I road bike in Italy. I have summited Mt. Terminillo. I have gone up and down the hills of Umbria as a member of a local riding club. I have ridden legs of various stages where the Giro d'Italia is run. I am capable of riding as much as 200 miles/week. I can summit South Mountain 3x in a go. I have ridden literally thousands of miles on this very bicycle, which -while carbon fiber - is FAR from a pro racing model. But this nitwit thinks I should sell my road bike because it's "too advanced for me". Oh and I'm a fat motherhumper too, thanks and come back again soon! "Try me"? I did. You and your sad little bike shop in the ghetto failed. --- Edited to add: since my encounter with this obnoxious tool, I found a friendly bike shop which had no interest in fat-shaming me. I told the story about this dickwad and all of the employees were aghast. They fixed my bike wheel so that I could ride again. I'm doing 200 miles a week (yes really) and have dropped 7 lbs in 3 weeks. By August I should be under 200 lbs, and when I go to Italy to ride up Mt. Terminillo again I will take a selfie. read more

I swung by after the recent YVE b/c I haven't been here for a few years - amazing how things look the same after all this time. The reason I did an update is because I wanted to note that this place has a pretty wide selection of new bikes - not a ton of high-end new stuff, although he can special order something in if you want to support your local small business. He does have quite a variety of sizes and models of, shall we say, more accessible mountain bikes, cruisers, crossover bikes which are like mountain bikes but more for on-road riding, and so on. read more

Growing up in Phoenix it was known that Try Me Bikes N' Trikes was a place where you could find a great deal on a used bike, a bitchen new bike or get parts for what a ever old bike you had and needed to piece together. The place was full of bikes of all sizes, shapes and colors. Some of the nicer bikes in the store and a big old lit of used and parts bikes. In a funky little are of Sunnyslope down the street from the Humane Society the exterior looks unimpressive. In a rather dusty industrial area on a non-through street. The prices on the bike parts in town - so much less than Sun or Landis. Also, no snobby clerks to look down their noses at those of us who opt for inexpensive bikes and opt to fix them ourselves. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly and helpful. read more

I had a flat this morning, and this shop is close to work...did not even know it! Awesome, friendly staff, quick and expert repair, checked out other loose and squeaky things to ensure bike safety, and an assortment of stocking stuffers and Santa-caliber stuff, too, in case your cycling pals need some Ho Ho Ho. Thank you! I will be back. Hopefully next time for fun and not a repair! read more

These guys were super friendly and honest and they didn't charge me an arm and a leg. I'm definitely going back.
