I haven't been in this business for years. They were rude and overbearing. There goal was to sell you something that was more than what you needed. My feeling was if they didn't think you were going to do that, they'd go to someone else who might. Today, against my better judgment, I stopped at Sun Cyclery. I didn't take my bike in because it would give them a chance to over sell me. I was in no mood for that. I was amazed by how helpful Troy was when I walked in the door. He was very willing to help me find really what I wanted and suggested ordering the bicycle seat that I needed. I had checked prices on line before going in so was pleasantly surprised to find the price would be about what I would have paid online. I also found other accessories I've needed. I feel good about my experience. One thing too. Troy was more than willing to take the time to discuss my needs. When I left, I asked what time they closed. Turns out they had closed fifteen minutes earlier. I never would have known. That is great service. I asked and found out Sun has had new owners for about four years. How nice! They did take it back immediately and correct the problem without any issues! We bought a used Catrike Expedition from Josh. He talked up how he had replaced this and that and how it had been given thorough inspection and tune up. Turns out, he was a ultimate in dishonest. The rear derailleur hanger was severly bent. The shifting had been adjusted to compensate for the bent derailleur. Spent 20 minutes trying to correct. The rear derailleur, shifters and brake levers were replaced with cheap Chinese knock offs. The SRAM parts were completely gone. This bike was covered in grease. Once the grease was cleaned, it was covered in dings and scratches. This only matters because we were told it has been cleaned and polished. I get "buyer beware", and some of this is my own fault for not doing a careful inspection before purchase. However, I trusted Sun's reputation and that proved disappointing at best. I will never shop there again. read more

Awesome friendly service here anytime I drop in. The guys here care, and do everything they can to get you back on your bike and safe!!! Do yourself and your bike a favor and come to Sun Cyclery. The guys here are also super knowledgeable on bike repair and maintenance, especially with tandems or complex bicycles. On top of their bike skills, they are cool, caring, and give great customer service. Having an old tandem from the 70's is no issue for Sun Cyclery! If you have a vintage bike, custom bike, tandem bike, unicycle, or trike, they will get it done! I only trust Sun Cyclery with my tandem, Ol' Blue. Last time I stopped by, they were nice enough to lube up my chain and get me going at no charge. By far the best bike shop I've found in the area. If shopping for a new bike, they've got a large selection of bikes and accessories as well. Take your bike here and let the pros take care of it! read more

I had a great experience!! I have driven by Sun Cyclery for years and years and have only visited for odds and ends here and there. I recently started riding a bike to work and have had a learning curve during these past few months. Josh (I believe) was extremely helpful. Gave me much needed advice. I just picked my bike up from being serviced, nothing major, just regular maintenance (new chain, new tires and tubes) and I couldn't be happier. From the first visit to drop off the bike, the staff was very friendly and helpful. They told me it would be ready in 3 to 5 days, but in the third day, I got a text saying it was ready. Not only did they do these repairs, but they also cleaned up the bike and tightened all the bolts etc. For me, biking is a casual way to get around the neighborhood, and I am very to have such a good shop so close by! read more

I recently purchased a Benno bike. After riding for the 3rd time, I noticed a clicking noise which appeared to be coming from the chain guard area. During my ride, I suddenly felt my chain dismantle, which caused me to abruptly fall to the pavement. The bike was scratched and I noticed the chain was not properly adjusted.(causing the clicking noise)I went back to Sun Cyclery to have the chain adjusted and paint retouched. Staff was so rude and dismissive towards my issue/incident . I explained my concern and told an employee that I fell from the bike and his response was, "You should have bought a tricycle. Was very disappointed in the customer service. My husband and I went in to purchase one bike and one adult trike. They showed us one trike on the floor but it was already sold so couldn't try it out. The salesman then walked away. Never offered or discussed ordering, never asked if my husband wanted to look at any of the bikes. We stood there waiting for the salesperson to come back but he never did. We then saw him helping out a person that just walked in. I love love love Sun Cyclery! Absolute best bike shop in all of Phoenix. I bought my last two bikes from Sun. Larry, Joe, Adam, Allen, they're all great. They always help me find what I need. They have the best customer service in the world. I'm sure of it. Sometimes I visit them just to hang out and see what's new. That's how cool they are. I was in yesterday having my hub flipped from a single speed to a fixed gear. (Yes they teased me, yes it was playful and welcomed, haha!) We live in the neighborhood and the guys are always happy to air up our tires and oil our chains. Plans in the works to get the boy a bigger bike for his birthday. They do layaway here so that's awesome. They buy and sell used bikes too! When you buy a bike from Sun they ask you to bring back your bike in a month or so, for your first (and complimentary) tune up (about a $40 value). The shop has recently been renovated and looks beautiful with the wood paneling on the walls and the extra space. Huge selection of bikes in the shop and out back. Tell the guys what you're looking for and they'll be happy to make some suggestions, pull out bikes for you to try, and get you on the road with a beautiful new ride! If you are in the market for a bike, or need your current bike fixed up, look no further. I've been coming to Sun Cyclery for about 11 years, and the products, service, and support are really unmatched. Three weeks ago I bought a brand new Electra beach cruiser, which I am in love with. Someday man will be able to marry a bike, and then I can marry my bike, it's really that great. What I love about Sun Cyclery, is the people there. They eat, sleep, and breathe bikes, and if they don't know about it, it probably doesn't matter. When I first started researching beach cruisers, Electra quickly rose to the top. I visited Sun, and was helped by Adam, who was great. I discussed what I wanted, and he helped steer me in the right direction. Another sign of a great place, when they don't automatically steer you towards the most expensive item, or recommend you buy things you don't need. Moving on, after weeks of thinking, I picked up a sweet blue Electra cruiser, and what's great about Sun, is they have SOOOO many great accessories, you can totally trick out your bike, and make it yours. Best of all, you can personalize your bike, and not break the bank. For example, a bike I really wanted was around $600, and rather then buy that, I purchased a $230 bike, and just added on the coolest and best extras, which really made my bike mine. Btw, my tip to the bold, rather than buy a bike bell, pick up a cool horn, Sun has sumu wrestlers, sharks, pigs, etc. You name it, they have it. When I went to purchase my bike, Joe had some awesome recommendations, I added on a white tires, and a white bike chain. I would have never thought of that, but once on the bike, it looked amazing! Did you know for around $15 you can buy a colored bike chain which totally accents your bike? They have every color, and they showed me this super cool neon green, which would look great too. In closing, you will not go wrong at Sun. Places like this are truly a lost art. They really love bikes, and value customers. This is the rare place that you can go to and just ask questions, and learn about bikes. Don't just take my word for it, go see for yourself, and have a great time. read more

These guys are hacks. They sent me home with over $4000 worth of trike and accessories. Two of the accessories were either incomplete or incorrect for the trike. The trike derailleur did not go through the gears correctly. They refused to come pick the trike up and make it right (I'm 70, two back surgeries, and can't be hauling stuff around). Returned all of it for a refund, and they didn't even ask me why! There are lots of places to buy riding equipment - choose someplace other than Sun. read more
