To say this business cares about their community is an understatement. I've been coming here for a while but yesterday they really went above and beyond. I was driving to the store in the afternoon when I heard meowing coming from inside my car. I pulled over to try finding the source of the noise, and sure enough a kitten had crawled up under my car and gotten itself stuck. I went to Lander Auto and Hilda immediately put my car on the lift and began the rescue mission. 45 mins later, she was able to retrieve the kitten unharmed. You could tell she had done this before and cared about the animal getting out safely. Now here is the best part. They refused to take any payment. Hilda said they were just happy to rescue an animals life and it was the right thing to do. We took pictures and she had me out of there with my new kitten in no time. So my wife car had AC issues. Our mechanic couldn't figure it out. The wife started using my truck for work. Unacceptable for sure. Using the power of Yelp, I found lander auto service. I read the reviews and figured to give this place a try. Kind of had no choice because my wife needed AC in this blistering heat. When I arrived, Hilda went to work trying to dissect the problem. The owner then got involved and it was tag team action in full effect. They were able to pinpoint the possible two issues causing the AC not to work. It was either the blower fan or the resistor. They were kind enough to give me a ride home while they waited for parts. Several hours later, Hilda called stating they're having issues finding the right blower motor. Come to find out, my Honda is a four door however the factory installed a 2 door Honda blower motor. This was why they had issues getting the right blower motor. They had their parts depot send them a 2 door blower motor and it worked. The connectors fit. The only discrepancy and maybe it was my own fault was did my car need a blower Motor or the resistor or both? The resistor is not cheap. Either way, problem was solved. Now my wife has cold blowing AC. So cold I need a jacket cold. Haha This business was kind to come pick me up so I could get my car home. Pretty cool in my Book. I would give 0 stars but I can't . So my truck went over to this place the for an electrical issue. They pulled my AFTER MARKET ALARM SYSTEM OUT ! They said it was short circuiting the fuse box . The after market alarm could not have done that cause it on its on relay and has it own 2 inline fuses . Also Did NOT fix the problem on the truck ! Changed the fuse box . Changing the fuse box and taking out the after market alarm I did not get a call before the work was done . Every two weeks I go to Madera and stay to make sure an elderly uncle is doing good. I was on my way back to the bay area and the battery indicator light came on. I pulled over cause the book said do not drive when this light comes on. People are so sweet. This mechanic came to my car checked it out, assured me I was in a good area, he had it towed to his shop, keeping his shop open and had me back on the road less then an hour. 75 for tow and 125 to replace belt. My check engine light came on mid road trip, so I looked up a nearby mechanic just to confirm my car wasn't going to blow up on my drive. These guys got me in immediately, were very swift to check it all out, were very honest about the issues and the repair challenges. I didn't have them service it only because I needed to get to my destination that day, but their help and information about the problem left me with a ton of confidence in them, and even makes me want to figure out how to let them do the repairs despite them not being near any of my road trip destinations! I decided to wait a few months so I could cool down and provide an unbiased review. I was very upset after taking my son's vehicle to this individual (Rabert). I would give negative stars if possible. I took the truck to this so called business, based on the referral of a friend, who later told me that Rabert cheated his son and argued with him. He is a liar everyone knows liars and thieves cannot be trusted. Hilda and he both lied to my face, but at least she looked a little ashamed. Rabert overcharged for doing a poor job fixing the AC, and he had the audacity to claim that the large dent on the passenger side of the truck and the dent on the undercarriage were already there. When I told him I was going to talk to people around the business, because someone had to have seen who put the large dent on the passenger side, with yellow paint. Next he pretended that he was going to look at video then admitted he parked it where it shouldn't have been parked and it was hit. When I told him I wanted him to report it to his insurance and 10% off the overcharged price he began to whine like a little baby. He complained that I was taking advantage of him and crying about paying for insurance, which obviously everyone must pay. He then wanted me to follow his female assistant Hilda to a body shop and I refused. He is very dishonest and cannot be trusted. The truck was running terrible after he and Hilda worked on it. And to add insult to injury, when I picked up the truck from a reputable body shop the owner showed me that whoever worked on the truck left several hoses unconnected, and he had to reconnect them. I was definitely put in a situation yesterday that caused me a lot of stress. Didn't really know what I could do or what was going on with my car. Long story short my car wasn't starting after multiple times of trying. I reached out to this shop and Hilda (My angel) answered. From the beginning I had picked up a really good vibe and quickly decided to continue moving forward with this shop. I arrived at the shop with the tow truck which placed my car there for me. There I met Hilda and Robert. Both of them very friendly, understanding, ready to help, and patient. I was waiting a few and I decided to fidget my car a bit and low and behold it turned on. Which was great because it gave them a better chance to see what might be wrong and they quickly sprung into action! It was a bit difficult to pin point exactly what was going on, but Hilda made a great suggestion (Robert in agreement) which actually turned out to be the problem! Saved me so much money starting from what she thought might be the issue... turned out to be just a bad battery unfortunately/gratefully. I honestly didn't have to pay a dime for anything considering they do a free inspection (unheard of) and it was just a battery switch, so the least I can do was to write a review for them. I found this auto shop on Groupon which had a great deal on an oil change. I didn't know what to expect, as I had always had my maintenance done at price ford (formerly Patchetts). After price ford failed to continue the lifetime oil changes promised by Patchetts, I now look for deals elsewhere. I know a oil change is simple, but the service was fast, and to the point. The waiting area was small but clean. I'm not sure if they do major repairs, as the garage wasn't huge, but I'm not positive. I had a good experience and I'd probably go back. read more

I went about one year ago to get my AC fixed, everything needed to be replaced and they were able to do it fast and for a reasonable price. I had problems with it a few days after and for completely free, because of their warranty, they found out the additional problem and fixed it for me within a day. Since then I have had perfect AC and I am very happy with the service I got. I came to Turlock from North Carolina to visit friends, and while in Turlock, I bought a 22-foot motor home, my first ever. When I got ready to leave Turlock to return to North Carolina, I got less than two blocks from my friends' house before i noticed the Check Engine light on and the engine overheating. My friends are newcomer to Turlock, so they didn't yet have a garage to recommend, so I Googled "Ford truck repair, Turlock." That's how I found Lander Auto Service, and when Robert answered the phone and I told him my troubles, he said, "I will help you." I didn't mean to omit the fact that my 1996 Ford truck was an RV; it's just that I have learned that some people work on the RV part of my motor home and some people work on the truck part, so I thought it didn't matter. Well, to anyone else it might have mattered, yet not to Robert. He did say he didn't normally work on RVs, yet, even so, he would help me. He said he just could not let me get on the road without helping me to have a safe vehicle to drive. He checked the code for the Check Engine light and said he'd need to do some more research, and he pinpointed the overheating problem as a bad thermostat. He checked all my fluids and said they were good; when I asked how much I owed him for that, he waved my offer away, asked only that I return the following morning at 7:30 a.m. for the thermostat replacement. I travel with my kitty, Annabelle, and so she and I hung out at a nearby picnic table, under the shed for shade, next to a food truck, while Robert and Hilda took care of our little home on wheels. Hilda came out a couple of times to apprise me of the progress. I asked her if they could also change the oil if Robert could tell if that was needed. She came back to say that I don't need an oil change now. This speaks so well for the lovely people who run this establishment. We all know of many places that would be only too happy to take in extra money for an unneeded oil change. Not Robert and Hilda. This is the sort of world in which I am accustomed to living. Robert showed me the welded-shut-from-the-heat thermostat that he removed. Thermostats are round valve-like things inside the water hoses of an engine. When they go bad, the valve stops working and they create a block so that no water can flow, which causes the engine to overheat. Robert not only replaced my thermostat, he also went several extra miles, flushing out the radiator and the cooling system and putting in new antifreeze and letting the engine run a bit to make sure that all was well before he let me drive away. The Check Engine light code indicated that a secondary engine air pump is problematic, ant Robert explained that that won't give me trouble as I drive back to North Carolina, until I get to a RV dealer to repair or replace it, although it may reduce my gas mileage Robert asked me to drive the RV around for 20 minutes or so to make sure everything is ok and that I don't get some miles down the road and have trouble, and he asked me to call him to let him know that all is well when I'm leaving. I did exactly that. During the time that Robert and Hilda took care of my little home on wheels, we all had several conversations, and my kitty Annabelle charmed everyone. I didn't just get excellent service for my RV; I made two new friends, the kind of friends I want in my life: honest, kind, compassionate, considerate, hard-working, always striving to do their best and to learn more. (You should see the dozens of certificates for advanced certifications for both Hilda and Robert in all facets of automotive service!) There aren't enough words in the English language to convey the esteem in which I hold these people and how pleased and humbled and impressed I am by all that they did for me. Everyone in Turlock, and the surrounding area, should make Lander Auto Service their single go-to place for any and all automotive services. And price? The charge for all of this was considerably less than half what I thought it would be. In fact, one of my friends guessed that the charge would have been, in her town, 10 times what I paid for all of this service. One of our company trucks broke down in the Turlock area. Based on Yelp reviews we had the truck towed to Lander. We felt very comfortable leaving the truck with the shop. The Mechanic that helped us was friendly and came across as a honest hard worker. The problem was the transmission which we expected. Since we have several of the same type of truck, and have replaced several transmission I expected the estimate to be +/-$3500. I was very surprised when the estimate came in at $7300. To be fair maybe the shop doesn't do transmission work often so they are not able to buy the transmission at a lower price. It was less expensive for us to rent a car trailer to bring the truck back to our regular mechanic. I hope the reason for the higher estimate was due to their inability to buy the transmission at a lower cost. I would hate to think they would try to take advantage of a business from out of the area. read more

Called last Wednesday about a noise in my Chevy Silverado. He said swing by and he'd take a look. Went down and he popped underneath and diagnosed the problem. Made a couple suggestions of some seals that should be replaced since we'd have everything opened up. I agreed and asked for a quote. He said he would call me Thursday, as he was real busy at the time. Thursday came and went so Friday I emailed and left a phone message. This week I took truck to another shop and had the same flexplate and seals done. Unfortunately that wasn't the problem but never did hear back from Lander Auto. read more
