On a cold day, this place is better than chestnuts roasting on an open fire. As you can tell, it's Christmas time. The soup dishes here are wonderful. My personal favorites are the beef and tendon and the won ton. The beef is tender and flavorful and the won tons are super good--tasty and stay together when you bite them. The broth is almost clear, but nicely seasoned so don't think it's just some warm hose water. I don't eat tendon, so I usually visit this place with a companion that enjoys the fibrous connective tissue. Great prices and good for takeout. For takeout, the soup is in a separate container so your noodles don't get soggy. Like most downtown businesses, parking can be tough, but I've just stopped right out front and had a runner go get the grub. I usually order the Beef Flank and Tendon Look Fun in soup with a side of Chinese Doughnut Stick. Beef Flank and Tendon Look Fun: The beef and the tendon were soft, however it's a little bland. The broth is alright, there is some taste, but not enough for of a memorable impact. This dish is still tasty and soothing to eat especially on a cold rainy day. I also tried this dish with saimin noodles instead of look fun and it was also good. An issue is that the saimin noodles portion were less than the look fun so it was not very filling. Chinese doughnut stick: A perfect side dish with any soup dish. The sticks are hot and crunchy and goes well with the broth. Overall, a good place to go to for a quick early lunch. Around the peak hours for lunch, they do tend to get quite busy so the foods can take a little longer than usual. read more

Beef sauce is very flavorful and the noodles/ hor fun soaked up all the sauce. Top if off with choy sum and green onions to balance the flavors so it doesn't taste too greasy. Jook with look fun is also a good combination. I could tell their jook is freshly made instead of using powder like some restaurants do. The jook is so soft and smooth. Great choice for breakfast. The look fun comes with just sesame seeds on top. They have self-serve sauces on the table: sesame sauce, hoi sin sauce, soy sauce. So you can add whatever sauce you want on the look funs. Yum yum . A lot of people just buy their look funs to go seems like a very popular item there. This restaurant is small and can be crowded especially now with the limited capacity. With COVID-19 in 2020, I can't even remember when was the last time I've been to certain restaurants. All I know is: it's been a long time! So far, the restaurants I've been back to has remained the same, good and bad, and Lam's Kitchen remains exceptionally good! Take out is recommended, but you can dine in. The tables are limited to just five that are against the wall that can hold between 1-4 customers. Even though, you're sitting at a comfortable distance from other tables, this place is so busy with many customers in and out, and waiting in line to order. They should consider limited capacity or putting up dividers shielding the tables. All the food is now served in take out containers with foam plates and bowls. We started with the Boiled Wonton. This was something I wanted to try since the last time I was here, and it did not disappoint at all. You get TWELVE pieces of huge, tasty and delicious wontons with tender and well seasoned pork with fresh and large pieces of shrimp that are prepared and cooked very well. The wrapper is thin and perfect. The Preserved Egg and Pork Rice Soup was delicious and warming. It was so well made. The rice was smooth and creamy with the right amount of seasoning. The preserved egg and pork were delicious. The only issue was the pork might've been too tender. You don't even need to bite it! The Chinese Cruller goes so well with rice soup! Perfect combination! The Duck Look Funn was very good. The broth was delicious. Savory, clean, and tasty.
