I have to say I never appreciated this place before because I tend to buy everything online. But it turns out that indoor lights really have to be seen in person and it makes a huge difference to see them all in one place. Although most people won't like most of the styles, you just need to find ONE that you like. Being able to see the relative size, the actual light with bulbs in it (versus the perfect product photos online), and the reflection of the materials in person made me change my mind, and I bought something different than I planned to. Pros: 1. Large selection - bigger than I could find online (not just Lamps Plus online, but I mean the entire internet). 2. You really have to see these in person to understand how it will look in your home. I was also able to quickly determine which models had a matching set (e.g. I needed one fixture with 3 light bulbs and another one in the same design that only had 1 light bulb). 3. The staff was friendly, and they did me a huge favor by telling me that the fixture I chose can only accept unusually small light bulbs due to the double glass cylinders. So it's not just the wattage, but the exact size, shape, and bulb type. 4. Returns are much easier in person at a store than trying to ship it back to a central warehouse. 5. Overall I'm happy with my purchases, and the light fixtures I bought are not available anywhere else. Cons: 1. The fixture I bought had some cracked glass (it happens). I took it back and as it was the last one, they ordered a new one that was shipped directly to me. 2. The replacement fixture, and the 2nd fixture which was not in stock to begin with... had a certain ship date, but then it was delayed by an additional ~3-4 weeks. This isn't the fault of THIS store, but was a frustration with the overall purchase from Lamps Plus. read more

When we first entered the store, we approached a female sales associate (pink/purple hair) for assistance on two different light fixtures. I wanted to see them out of the box. I went to the front registers and she said that a box was at the end of the counter and walked away. I was left to open the box (tear it open) and look at the one light fixture; I had asked to see two fixtures. A sales associate, Ryan Nissan, saw that I was left to open and view the light fixture. He was also surprised that the female sales associate just walked away. Thank you to Ryan, as he proceeded to offer his excellent customer service (and also apologized for the uncomfortable situation that I was left with). Because of Ryan's professionalism, genuine concern and assistance; we purchased three pendant lights and two sconces. The Assistant Manager, Manny Rodriguez, assured us that "Ryan would take care of us" and also apologized for the uncomfortable situation that we had experienced when we first walked into the store. Because of the wonderful customer service that we received from Ryan and Manny; we will continue to patronize this Lamps Plus location (Pasadena/Huntington Drive) (even with the 40 mile drive and many Lamps Plus locations in between). read more

After two male installers' corner cutting was exposed and verified by their supervisor, I was promised a DoOver. That was nearly a year ago. My advise is to hire your own installer. Lamps Plus does not follow thru. While my product was a Matthews wall fan, I still wouldn't hire them to install a light bulb. read more

I went in today to see if they carried a special type of vanity mirror bulb that i could not find anywhere in our area. I got a very friendly hello from Jorden behind the counter. she was extremely helpful in trying to match that type of bulb. There wasn't any due to the age of the mirror, but she presented me with a better bulb the fit into the mirror. Great selections of lighting fixtures on display, however not all items are available for immediate pay and go. Must order in advance. Some items can take a couple of months to be delivered. If you are planning a remodel, plan accordingly. Service was ok. The place gets busy. The 1st sales rep was not very warm and appear to be a bid impatient with our multiple questions. We were considering purchasing 6-7 lighting fixtures. She got another sale rep to come hep us. The 2nd rep was more talkative, however made comments that was a bid annoying. Comments like, "You should plan ahead if remolding" which is true. Sometime it is just a spur-of-the-moment decision to replace all the fixtures during a simple interior repaint. The place could use some compassion when speaking to the customers. We ended up going somewhere else for the fixtures. For the cost which is substantially more compared to other retailers, I would have wanted better customer service, but would recommend this place if you are looking for particular style and/or items. read more

My wife dragged us here. But once inside I was happy to have been there. The selection of lamps ranged from tall, short, desktop, floors and chandeliers (I'm surprised I spelled that correctly). There were also random home improvement items such as Buddha statues, mirrors, seats, etc. The prices were not THAT great IMO... Living Spaces, Ikea, and even high-end chains like Pottery Barn and Crate & Barrel hold inventory that is both better looking and more affordable. There is a computer system there that helps you search the entirety of the store at a click of a mouse button, but I swear it's on a 56K connection... it's so slow that you'll lose any impulse to splurge by the time you've pinpointed your item! The sales representatives were attentive to the needs of the customers and the vibe was good... it was a fun time. I just can't shake the fact that there are some lamps that ran over $200 dollars that you can find at a Wal-Mart for less than $50 bucks .. maybe for some people the quality is OBVIOUS, but to me... a normal dude shopping w/ his wife--I just don't get it. read more

Regarding the inventory - in general I prefer to get old, vintage furnishings on Craigslist or at Estate Sales, but after looking and looking for a lamp I finally caved, and came to see what Lamps Plus had. What was the most impressive to me was his patience and customer service. Over the course of probably 45 minutes; I asked about at least 20 different fixtures; he checked stock for me 4 times. Nice to have a retail lighting store with many selections to look at in person. Many lamps stores only sell online now, so it's great to have Lamps Plus which has both. You can feel comfortable buying from their online store since you can return it at the retail store if the item doesn't fit your needs once you receive it. The store has a good collection of chandelier lighting and lamps. There are also mirrors and other home décor. There are always customer service reps there to help, but they are not overbearing and do not follow you around when you just want to browse on your own. read more
