I love Lamps Plus. However l've never had a good in store experience. Today was the same when dealing with Juan the store manager. I asked him a question and then told him I had a return and he was quick to pawn me off on William M. William saved the day he as very helpful and I left happy. Two days ago I went into the store and found a lovely acrylic coffee table. It didn't have a price on it, so we got help. We were pretty happy when the guy told us that it was $349, marked down from $750 because it was on "closeout". He told us we'd better act fast because there were "only 10 left in the warehouse." There was a receipt attached to the floor model because apparently the one in the store was sold (for $349). We got the measurements to verify that it would fit in our space. Today we went back to the store (in 100 degree heat) to order one of the tables before they sold out. When we told him we wanted to get it before they sold out he said, "we have plenty in the warehouse; looks like we have 15 of them." Odd, but whatever. Then he rang up the order, looked at me and said "The total comes to $635." Obviously I was confused. I told him that it was on sale for $349. He said, oh well that "closeout sale"was a while ago, maybe a month or so ago. I told him that I had been in two days ago and was quoted $349. He looked puzzled, went into the back, and told me the best he could do was 10% off of the $599 price. I'm not sure what Lamps Plus is thinking. The term "closeout" means that the item is being discontinued and they won't be carrying the item anymore. It doesn't mean the price goes up and down....that's a "sale" not a "closeout." Second, it appears as if the first guy was making up stock numbers to create urgency. It also appears as if he was just making up a price. The whole thing felt a wee bit dishonest and scammy, like I was dealing with some sort of used car dealership who would say or do anything to make a sale, whether it is the truth or not. Not only did i not buy the table, but we are redoing a condo out in the desert and I had planned on buying all of our fixtures from lamps plus (2 chandeliers, 3 bathroom vanity lights, 8 sconces, and 4 ceiling flush mount fixtures). I can't say that I won't buy them from Lamps Plus, but I probably won't go back to this location because I can't trust them.... and now because I'm annoyed I'll probably shop around and see if I can find the same fixtures elsewhere. If I do go with Lamps Plus I'll go to the Rancho Mirage location. read more

Very pleasant experience at this location. I called to see if they could fix my lamp and Rich was very friendly over the phone and even more helpful upon arrival. DO NOT SHOP HERE!! Terrible customer service. They sold me a defective produce then refused to replace it because I purchased it on sale. I had to reach out to the manufacturer, who replaced it gladly. But the worst part was that at first they told me they would replace it and then decided not to but never bothered calling me to tell me. It wasn't until I called them to find out where the replacement was that they told me they were going to replace it. Again terrible terrible service. read more

We are in the process of rewiring our entire home and swapping out every light fixture. The entire staff at Lamps Plus in Pasadena has made an otherwise overwhelming project so easy. They have all been incredibly kind, patient and helpful, from their lighting designer Melanie (who will come to your home and help you make design choices) to the store managers and everyone in between. Terrible customer service!!!!!! I am so glad we didn't buy the lights yet! We were told we could get a free consultation with an electrician just to make sure the light fixtures would work, so we said sure. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! (aka nothing!) I told them the ONLY time I am NOT available is Saturday 10am-1pm we have tickets. Yes fine fine we understand. ANY ANY ANY other day or time would work. I waited an ENTIRE week just for them to call me right now and say "Your appointment slot is 11am-3pm tomorrow (Sat)". Here's the 4-11 (old people like me you know what that means) 1) Dude seriously a 4 hour window? Fine I can hang, I need my old lady naps anyways, right. 2) They could have told me a week ago!! I would have made other arrangements! You don't want to provide a service FINE just tell me don't make me waste an entire week I could have been working on this! 3) The lady said "that's the only slot we have for you" (really snotty). What? You have no other days of the week or time in a 365 day calendar? 4) We didn't even ask for this THEY OFFERED IT just to do this? What was this entire exercise for?? Seriously, if you're looking for lamps and want just courteous customer service take your business elsewhere. I'm not asking for Tom Cruise level, just Tom Seleck level (another one for the old-timers). If this is their customer service for someone who was going to spend A LOT (Re-doing entire house fixtures) I cannot imagine how they treat people buying a few lights. I purchased a ceiling fan and professional installation from Lamps Plus rather than buying from a big box store because I figured having access to the knowledgeable guidance and expertise of a trained sales person was worth a few extra bucks. Turns out I should've saved the money. I would up purchasing a Minke Aire model that included a pricey LED lamp option that just went dark after I'd had the fan for only three years. When I called the store to ask about buying a replacement bulb, I was told that the LED lamp can't be replaced or easily repaired, and I'd basically have to buy a new fan. Obviously, I'm very disappointed that my salesperson didn't alert me to that information before I purchased the fan, and I must confess to feeling a little foolish thinking I was getting a higher level of customer care from Lamps Plus. I certainly never thought I'd spend all that money on a fan that would need to be replaced after only three years of use. read more

Lamp Plus has a great variety of lights that made it even harder to decide what we were looking for. But agent Lourdes made it seem so easy. Lamps Plus has absolutely horrible customer service. Their customer service support is condescending and rude. If you try to make a return they basically interrogate you. I'd suggest finding the same product for sale on Houz, Wayfair, Overstock, or Amazon. Often you can find the exact same product on these other sites (but just sold under a different brand name) for much cheaper. Avoid Lamps Plus! read more

We purchased a cool 1940s style ceiling fan and light kit. The floor model was the upgrade and included Edison nostalgic led bulbs. The salesperson told up the bulbs came with the light kit. At home we found CFL bulbs in the box. We trekked bake over to the store in poring rain tonight, so we could have the cool fan/light up and working in all its glory for Christmas . I explained our plight. The salesperson on duty spoke with the manager on our behalf, and presto change O!!! We wales out of the store with three amber Edison Nostalgic LEDs and the CFLs. I want to post this review for the great service I received today. The store manager Juan was so very helpful and attentive. I came in for a light for my bedroom and although what I wanted was not in stock, Juan ordered it for me for a same day pick up at another store. I also bought two additional lights to match the larger over head light. Juan was so nice and made the shopping experience very quick and easy. I do a lot of online shopping because I feel like it's easier but for things like light fixtures I find that seeing the item in person is better and it's easier to choose than using pictures. I looked at every website, I went to Home Depot and Lowe's; but I didn't find anything that I liked. I like Lamps Plus but I find that they're pretty expensive. I like to save money buying online. But I have to say that when you go into a store and they help you make your purchase; it's worth paying more. Juan was great, the other employee there wasn't as pleasant and willing to help. I'm happy Juan helped me. So I would recommend that if you go to this location; have Juan help you. Thanks Juan! read more

Lamps Plus gets an A+ in my book. I went to the store today for a light bulb replacement for a ceiling fan light and Manny promptly helped me. Since he was so helpful, I asked him about another lamp I bought previously that wasn't working correctly, and he told me to bring it back for him to help. I brought it back that day and his colleague Albert helped me. Within seconds, my light was working again and it was user error all along. Bought a Chandelier and a vanity light as we are remodeling our home wife did not like vanity light as it was not bright enough we're told come on in And we will exchange it we were in the process of purchasing about 10 more lamps for our remodel. So we decided to go back to Lamps Plus return the vanity light and pick out the rest of our lamps however when we got there the sales associate first told us we could not return the lamp then after consulting with another associate I don't know you can return the lamp but there is a $54 fee not even opening up the box tried everything she could to get us to keep the vanity lamp not at all concerned of our needs or the fact that we needed about 10 more lamps and that was the real reason we were there long story short I ended up paying this store $54 to never shop there again went to their competitor and purchased the rest of my lamps they have friendly associates concerned Our needs will never shop at Lamps Plus again read more

Sure Lamps Plus has lots and lots of lamps, but when it comes to customer service they are lacking. I brought in a lamp that I had purchased a while back and had an issue with replacing the glass once the bulb is installed. I knew exactly what the problem was but needed to know if it was worth it to try and fix it or just replace the lamp itself. The cashier who was friendly certainly did his best but when he didn't know how to help, he called Linda over. She immediately corrected me instead of listening and told me that all of their lamps are the same and the screw and small device belong on the outside of the fixture. Given that I just took this apart, I'm well aware of how it is put together. She simply argued with me and rolled her eyes, and was done with helping me. Wow. After looking at the exact fixture that is on the wall and still for sale, I was able to identify that indeed, I was correct and Linda doesn't really know her merchandise, nor does she know how to treat a consumer. Kevin Lopez, an associate at Lamps Plus, did an excellent recovery to her horrible service. He knew exactly what was wrong with the lamp, got a screw driver, readjusted the screws and the small pieces that hold the glass in place, and put in my new lightbulb. Kevin made my experience well worth my time and drive to Lamps Plus. They do have a good selection and it's nice to be able to see what you are considering purchasing on line. Staff is usually very helpful and attentive. The 3 star rating is for my overall experience today however, Kevin gets 5 stars. Thank you Kevin for your attentiveness and respectfulness. Thank you Juan Rios for helping me and my family out in buying all the lighting in our new home. It can be intimidating to walk in and not have much of an idea of what we wanted and sizes. He was very patient and explained everything in detail to us. Because of his excellent customer service we have since been back 3 times for more lights for the outdoors.I had an issue with some warranties and he said he would call the head office to find out what the problem was. We count on Lamps Plus for all of our lightings and light installation. These are our second purchases and we are very pleased every time. Richard is hands down the best personnel that always very professional, thoughtful and courteous. He helped us from picking up the right lighting to making sure we have everything we needed for the pre and after installation. Tigren and crew are very meticulous and always making sure that our lightings are working perfectly like it should. They wrapped the furniture and made sure there won't be any dings. I can guarantee you that I will never step foot into this store again. The customer service left me offended and disgruntled. My first trip to the store-I say first, as I had to make three of them-was pretty uneventful. Actually it was exactly "uneventful", seeing how I waited 30 minutes for service. Finally, a young girl came to help me out. I left the store with the boxes and went home to set up the lamps. Upon completion, I couldn't help but notice a glaringly obvious mistake. You see, the lampshades didn't match. One was bigger and darker in color than the other. I was a little annoyed, but mistakes like this do happen. I drove back to the store, lampshades in tow, and asked for the right one. If it wasn't in stock, I was more than happy to pay the difference. The person I was speaking to happened to be the manager, and this is where my complaints begin. He told me that they didn't have the lampshade in stock, so I had to return the entire set. His tone was very rude and insincere, as if the entire ordeal was my fault. I didn't have the energy to put up a fight over his tone, so I returned in half in hour with the repackaged lamps. I entered the store, and waited around 10 minutes. I was on a short fuse since all the moving around in such hot weather was tiring. Those entire ten minutes, nobody came to get me. So, I waved down the manager and asked for help. He sent an employee to help me out with the heavy boxes. The wait really lit that short fuse. I offhandedly remarked something along the lines of, "The girl who helped me didn't really seem like she knew what she was doing, maybe you should train your employees more thoroughly." He gave me a scathing look, as if I was the source of the problem, but didn't say anything. He replied, "We can't just go and open every single box." He followed up with, "I can order it online for you." I replied with, "No thank you, my shopping mood has already been ruined by this entire situation." He threw me a dirty look, and went, "Oh, just for that? This is the first time this has happened to us. You're being too hard on us." He came off as if he was blaming me, and this was the final straw. Up to that point, the way he had handled the situation had to be the most unprofessional and uncaring customer service I had ever encountered. I've been in a manager position myself, and this is entirely the wrong way to handle a customer. The most I wanted out of him was an apologetic, "I'm sorry for the incident, perhaps I can help you pick something else." I didn't even get the apology. Instead, I got smack talk and accusatory stares. I was upset, and just dismissed the problem at his look at disbelief. I left with a single rant, "The way you have treated me so far leads me to believe that the time and gas money I have spent during my visits to your store mean nothing. It was not my fault that the lampshades didn't match, and you shouldn't give me so much lip about it. Go back and take a management course so you can learn how to communicate with your clientele." read more

Shopping for your lighting anywhere other than Lamps Plus isn't very bright. The company has been a fixture in SoCal for decades for good reason. Their expert staff can help illuminate the possibilities for your domicile and tell you watts new ..... ah screw it. No more pun attempts. We spent a big chunk of our tax refund here and here's why... Service: Everyone here is remarkably friendly and knowledgable. They can help you navigate the initially overwhelming selection and prepare a custom lighting solution for the room you're upgrading. They offer in-home consultation and can even install the lighting themselves. I didn't know that they offered installation services and was surprised at how affordable their electrical services are. Any electrical work they do also comes with a two year warranty. It's a no brainer. If you buy something and change your mind or don't like how it looks in your home, the 60 day return policy is one of the most liberal around. The prices are fair, but you can negotiate on most items if you care to. Bottom line: Redoing the lighting in your house is never a cheap endeavor. It costs as much in labor to do it right as it does to botch it up. Don't try to tackle this one yourself or trust a joe blow electrician to tell you what you should do. Have a lighting pro give you some ideas before you put holes in your ceilings and walls. And don't go cheap on this one. If you're like me and work during daylight hours, most of the time you spend at home is after sunset. A well lit home feels like a haven. The end. read more

4.5 / 5 . This place is surprisingly PACKED on a Saturday. Who would have thought sooo many people were interested in lamps, lamps shades and whatever else lamp related? Why am I here on a Saturday? Well, I'm not interested in lamps and lamp shades and whatever else lamp related, I will tell you that. What I AM interested in, are bulbs. R20 bulbs to be precise. And these bulbs aren't for lamps. They are for the lowell lighting kit from my school. And this kit is used to light for my architecture class. And THAT, is the only reason why I am here. And as I am here, the employees who help me are running around trying to help everyone else, yet are still polite enough to make sure I'm doing alright. The service here is pretty great for how busy they are. They won't hold your hand and make sure that you are pampered at your visit at Lamps Plus-- but no place will do that. But they will politely help you out and try to help out the other people in an orderly fashion. They don't have enough time nor staff to play the "OMG~ You like lamps?? WELL I LOVE LAMPS TOO~ Let's chat about lamps together :D :D :D " kind of bullcrap filler stuff. But they do manage their time well enough to handle ever single customer and will get to you-- and they will tell you politely that they are sorry for the wait as they are running around. Especially since I've worked retail before, I know how it feels to be in a position where the customers over whelm the employees in a mid-afternoon rush, and these employees did a fantastic job handling everyone. The main guy that helped me, Rich, was extremely helpful and though he was running around helping everyone else, he always checked back to make sure my bulbs were the correct ones (which they were, Thanks Rich!). The other staff, a lady and another man also made sure I got the right items and were also just as helpful to me, and the long line that followed. Overall, this place is great--- these people get swamped though, so just be patient. Great store & I will be coming back for more bulbs if I ever need to! read more

We love Lamps Plus for the huge variety, the personal service, the quality, the ability to see displays in person, and the easy return policy in case we changed our minds. We remodeled our home and did almost all of our lighting purchases from the Lamps Plus Pasadena location. Manny Hernandez and Leeza Barbosa, the store manager, were super friendly and easy to work with. Considering we purchased more than 10 different fixtures for the house, we were really happy to get things done so quickly and efficiently. Thanks for the great service !!! Customer Service was so hot/cold I'm giving LP a 3. Rich is awesome. We were shopping for our remodel and needed a number of things, Rich was incredibly patient about showing us the options, pricing things, and not pressuring us. My parents had purchased a light fixture previously from LP, and changing out the light bulbs was impossible. When I spoke to Rich about it, he was helpful and understanding, he recalled the fixture we were talking about (which was discontinued because everyone else had this problem), found the weird shaped tool needed to do it, and when I still couldn't do it (no light bulb jokes please), he was willing to have his tech look at it and help me out if I brought the fixture in. The other sales agent who was there the day I picked up was not so helpful. In fact he was a little pushy about whether or not I was going to actually make a purchase. I had come in planning on making a purchase and had been looking around, but his attitude just rubbed me the wrong way, and I told him that I was coming in just for the light. Despite the fact that Rich, the tech, and the note on the light all said the same thing about my charges, this guy decided to upcharge me. LP sold my parents a light that takes the tech an hour to unscrew to change the bulbs, they were turned away twice before by sales associates who pretended they didn't know what my parents were talking about, I actually had to unhook this entire fixture out of the wall- and you're going to suddenly upcharge me? When I became unhappy about this, he very grudgingly decreased the service fee by 50%. I paid it and left. Surprisingly, at the end of the evening, he actually called back and left a message saying that he would reverse the charges. I think it's quite likely that when Rich came on shift, he heard how things went down, and told this guy to make things right. So, props to him for owning up to upcharging me and reversing the fees. But to be honest, if I'm buying a lot of stuff and dealing with possible returns, restocking fees, or fixtures that don't work, while I'd trust Rich in a heartbeat to always do the right thing, I can't say that for his coworker. And when remodeling, I just don't need that kind of headache. In the end, he did own up to the mistake and fix it, and for that, LP's back up to a 3, and I'm not naming the guy so he can save some face. read more

I like this place... always lit and full of lamps. My first time here and immediately noticed the large variety of working lamps on display as well as the neatly organized aisles for browsing. The staff here are attentive and are always working on changing the atmosphere and promoting the latest and greatest lighting fixtures. My friend chose Lamps Plus for his LED bathroom lightning needs because of their competitive rates, availability and attentive staff. Special thanks to Juan the store manager and 2 other employees for spending the time to explain the highlights of their products and providing an exact date for pickup.... which was a breeze, I will note that some of the staff should be more versed on using a computer to look up inventory that way it saves both parties time. Other than that I would definitely prefer Lamps Plus for all my lighting needs. read more

After looking at many, many jewelry cabinets, I found the one I wanted at Lamps Plus. Unfortunately the one in the store was damaged so I decided to order a new one and wait. I picked up the unit and brought it home only to discover, upon opening the package, that the unit was damaged. I called the store and Mo was very helpful. I sent him a couple of pictures of the damage and he offered a nice credit if I agreed to keep the unit, which I did. It's not ideal but the damage is on the back of the unit and can't easily be seen. I was not looking forward to lugging the thing back to the store. This is not my first shopping experience at Lamps Plus in Pasadena and it most likely won't be my last. Satisfied customer. read more
