I've purchased a few things over the last few years such as a media stand, book shelves and dining chairs and I've been really pleased with them. I love mid century design and Scandinavian offers really beautiful options at fair prices. They are a much better option than another big name store on Colorado that also offers a lot of MCM furniture. Customer service has always been good and they are pretty quick to rectify any issues. I have been waiting about 9 months for an item that should have been delivered in 4-6 months. The store is unresponsive and does not follow up. They claim they will call back with updates and they do not. I am starting to believe the item was never originally ordered. The item was paid in full. The furniture is beautiful and well constructed. We love our sofa and chair. Will probably return for a desk. Delivery was not easy. We have steep stairs and fencing that needed to be manipulated before the delivery. Everything turned out ok, fortunately. I recently visited the Scandinavian Designs store in Pasadena with the intention of purchasing a couch. While the furniture selection was impressive, my experience with their financing options left me frustrated and concerned. When I expressed interest in financing the purchase of the couch, I was informed by the store representative that there was a 12-month, 0% interest financing option available--similar to the service offered by Affirm on Scandinavian Design's website. This seemed like a great deal, so I proceeded to fill out the necessary information. However, I soon discovered that I had unknowingly applied for a credit card. At no point during the conversation did the store representative mention that this financing option was, in fact, a credit card. The result was a hard inquiry on my credit report, which could negatively impact my credit score. This was particularly frustrating because their other financing option through Affirm, only results in a "soft inquiry", which would not have negatively affected my credit. What's alarming is the apparent lack of knowledge among the store employees regarding what they are offering to customers. When I later spoke with a Scandinavian Designs customer service representative, she was the only one who seemed to understand that the service I had signed up for was indeed a credit card. She even had to argue with the store representative over this fact when she called them to retrieve contact information for Wells Fargo. This level of confusion among staff is unacceptable. I subsequently called Wells Fargo to cancel this so-called "financing option," only to be told again that it was not a credit card, supposedly because it could "only be used at Scandinavian Designs." This explanation was unconvincing, especially given that I was to receive a physical card in the mail and had already experienced a hard inquiry on my credit--something that would not happen with the financing option offered through Affirm. How can Wells Fargo and Scandinavian Designs employees claim that I was not signed up for a credit card when the Scandinavian Designs website clearly states: "The Wells Fargo Home Furnishings CREDIT CARD is issued by Wells Fargo Bank, N.A."? While Scandinavian Designs offers quality furniture, this experience has left me deeply dissatisfied. The lack of transparency and misinformation provided by the store's employees is concerning. It feels as though customers are being misled into signing up for credit cards under the guise of a simple financing plan. Whether this is due to negligence or a deliberate strategy, it reflects poorly on Scandinavian Designs and their commitment to customer service. This kind of practice erodes trust and leaves customers feeling deceived. read more

This review is pretty much a summation of experience. I have been in search of a couch for a while and sadly with the pandemic hitting us last year, availability was limited with other places. We looked and compared and delayed to the best that we could until it was time to get a new couch. We found what we needed online but was apprehensive about visiting stores and showrooms because of the pandemic. We decided to go on a weekday, first thing once they opened. Found the couch we saw online - we confirmed it was available to see prior to coming in just to keep our visit brief. Found a few other things and options we loved but stuck with the Dalea Sectional. We were greeted upon entry and asked what we needed, pointed to the direction of where items were and then left to explore on our own but were checked on from time to time. We were assisted by Clay who was informative, precise, offered additional stuff as necessary etc. overall, customer service was great. Purchased and delivered and after about 2 months, I noticed that the fabric was already piling and the cushion and fabric seemed to start to loosen. I emailed and phoned and got a response accordingly. The resolution was to replace the couch to exchange what seemed like the beginning of a damaged product. The exchange was fast (within a week of confirming as the emails and calls were a back and forth given that emails are sent to a general email where if you're trying to address it to the associate that assisted you, might be lost in the numerous emails received). I want to commend that once Clay found out that our situation was not attended to immediately, he made it a point to follow up. So now we have a new couch after having it for 3 months only and hopefully, the fabric remains tucked, tufted and would not pile easily. I know there is no control over the production of the items so it truly wouldn't be fair to judge service received. They have definitely made us feel important and that our situation mattered. I feel everyone in the guest service industry should know that situations cannot be controlled but reactions and outlook and response can truly show character. I love the chair, it's comfortable, reclines and supports my back, which was the primary requirement I had when trying to find the perfect chair. They offered a number of colors and sizes. My parents used to shop here when it was called Plummers in the 80s so I thought I would go here for a new dining set. Found what I needed and gave them close to $5k for a Sundby Extension Dining table and a king bed frame. Paid the delivery/set up fee of $99 to have them build it. Besides being charged the wrong bed they did a poor installation of the dining table that took repeat calls for over 2 months to get Anthony to come out to fix it. Like my furniture but had no helpful customer service after they took my money. They never seem to return my calls and I had to call my credit card company to stop payment for the manager Marissa to call me back on fixing the issue. Steve is always on vacation when I call and when another staff picks up they say they'll have Steve call me back which he never does. Beware. It's a chain so if you want to buy their stuff just go to another location and good luck. read more

We spent about $12k and as one piece was missing (waiting from Italy) they put off delivery until they got it all. I'd emptied our living room of furniture so we were using a patio chair. It was a 3 week delay and we got caught up in the container cargo ships awaiting delivery to Long Beach. After about 3 months I insisted in delivering the 95% they had and they pay for the second delivery. Clay was great to work with and it all worked out. We purchased a 9 piece leather sectional from SD. The sectional was delivered in late Nov. I noticed few of the recliners were not working properly. I contacted the store and spoke with Clay. I am writing to express my disappointment with my recent experience at this store. Yesterday , my husband and I arrived at this store around 5pm to purchase two stressless recliners. When we first walked in, there were two employees who did not even look at us. No one asked if we need help! We felt uncomfortable, but we continued shopping. We eventually asked for help from a female employee. She seemed uncomfortable from the start we talking to her and answered our questions with a dismissive attitude. We decided to buy two recliners, but the sales process was very slow and unpleasant. The saleswoman, seemed to have no knowledge about the products in the store and was clearly annoyed by having to explain them to us. When we changed our mind about the color of the second recliner, she shook her head and frowned, clearly annoyed. We felt very uncomfortable during our entire shopping experience. We were so disappointed with our experience that we decided to cancel our order, even though we had already made a deposit. We were immediately refunded our money. I am a business owner myself, and I am genuinely curious whether this store treats Asian customers differently. I am also curious whether they treat all customers this way, or if it is because we were purchasing a $6,000 recliner that they thought we were unimportant. I am truly curious if the owner of this business encourages their sales staff to be rude to customers like this. I have never had such an unpleasant experience before. read more

After looking at a bunch of different furniture stores (Crate & Barrel, Cost Plus World Market, Ikea, The Sofa Company, Pier 1 Imports, and Pottery Barn), we decided to check out Plummers. I found them on, of all places, YELP. I wasn't expecting much since their location in Pasadena is in a plain building, but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm not much of a furniture shopper, but Plummers has some excellent modern furniture with good quality and good prices. I liked the styles they had in their well organized showroom. The salespeople are helpful, friendly and not pushy. I dislike pushy salespeople. I ended up buying a couch at Plummers. It was $595, which is one of the least expensive, but most stylish couches I saw in all the stores I visited. If you have the couch delivered, it will cost you $100. There's a review here of someone who had a bad experience with the delivery people, so I decided to pick it up myself. After paying for the couch, it took about 2 weeks for Plummers to get it in stock. My salesman called me and let me know the couch was in and wanted to know when I might be able to pick it up from the warehouse. If you pick up your item, make sure to check the warehouse hours since they are different than the showroom hours. I rented a budget truck, grabbed a friend and picked up my couch. Disappoinited. Their furniture doesn't last more than a year and a half. My wife and I bought a set of four dining table chairs. All four began breaking at the same time, about a year and a half later. When I inquired with social media, they informed me they SELL replacement bottoms for those chairs. So they're basically admitting that these chairs break and then trying to sell me more of the chair that I thought I already paid in full. I expect my furniture to last longer than this. Not acceptable. Was excited about getting more furniture here as they have some cool designs. But unless they reach out to actually help me, I'm done with this place. Not cool. read more

This is a difficult review. We've bought products from this store for years (since they were Plummers) and always had great success. With our most recent purchase we were not so lucky. We purchased a coffee table, end tables, and C tables for our living room - Massimo brand. It is a smoked oak high gloss finish. Given the finish, we knew we were going to need to be very careful with what was placed on the top of the furniture. The problem is that within a month we started seeing scuffed spots where the TV remote had been placed, etc. When we inquired as to how to remedy/combat this issue there was no assistance and no way to contact the manufacturer for help. I'm posting this as a buyer-be-ware so that no one else finds themselves in the same situation (money spent, can't return, can't be repaired, etc.). read more

One word -- Clay! My husband and I were perusing around Scandinavia about two weekends ago and although another rep offered us a catalogue, it was Clay who approached us to offer assistance. After a little bit of chatting, we left with 3 items -- two leaning bookcases and one leaning bookcase desk. Unfortunately, the leaning bookcase desk didn't quite fit properly on our weirdly designed wall, so today I found myself returning it. And although I soon discovered the "return" center was closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Clay (yes, he was working today too) accepted the return without any type of penalization. When SCANDINAVIAN DESIGNS says they guarantee your satisfaction, it is a fact, not a gimmick. My wife and I are in our late 70's and have health issues that are not detectable by casual observation. Our old couch had served us well, and looked like new. However, my wife was having more and more difficulty getting up from sitting on the couch. We needed a couch, with the seating area higher than 18 above the floor. When we entered the store for the first time, we were met by Steven, who was most helpful in showing us the variety of couches that met our height requirements. This was our first day shopping for a new couch, so we thanked Steven, and continued our search at several other furniture stores. None came close to the Quality & Style that we had discovered at Scandinavian Designs. We returned to Steven at Scandinavian Designs and placed the order for our new couch. At the appointed time, our new couch arrived and was placed in our Family Room. The delivery men handled the couch with the care and attention as if it was a piece of Scientific or Medical Instrumentation. We were impressed. After the delivery people had left, we both sat on our new couch. My wife was happy. We were on the couch for just over 15 minutes, when my wife complained of pain in one leg. When she got up, she experienced difficulty in walking. After an hour, everything returned to normal. The next time she sat on the new couch, the same sequences of events occurred. She brought in a kitchen chair to watch TV, with none of the symptoms she experienced on the new couch. After looking more closely at our new couch, we noted that our Old Couch, like the kitchen chair, the seat(s) were Flat. On our new couch, the front of the seat, which met our height requirement, was perfect, but as the seat ran towards the back of the couch, it Sloped Down by several inches. It looked lovely to the eye, but triggered unwanted health issues for my wife. The couch, which we spent less than two minutes sitting on at the store, would not satisfy our needs at home. The couch had to be returned. This is where the Five Stars comes in. We had never returned a large, expensive piece of furniture, so had no idea what to expect. When I contacted Steven to explain our dilemma, without argument or hesitation, he started gaining the necessary information to have the couch picked up and returned to the store. There was the expected fee to pick-up the couch, plus the restocking fee. Both fees were quite reasonable, and the entire process was as smooth as the original purchase. Hopefully you will not need to return your purchases to Scandinavian Designs, but rest assured you will be Satisfied One way or another. This is an Amazing Furniture Store. Happy Shopping!!! read more
