I really appreciate family owned businesses, and try to frequent non-"box" stores whenever possible. My day started off quite difficult, I had gone to three other mattress stores in old town, and none of them could work with my $1,100 budget. I know that things are expensive these days, but it seemed to me that my budget was substantial. Not only this, but these other stores couldnt get me a mattress in under six weeks, which seemed just as bananas. I was about to give up when I decided to stop by the Mattress Store on Lake Ave. When I walked in, I was greeted by the incredible Joshua, and he turned my day around immediately. After explaining my situation, he assured me that he had multiple options for me, and the mattress could be delivered in a matter of days, not weeks. I breathed my first deep breath in hours. Thank you, Joshua! He helped me decide on a new mattress in my budget, and he was truly knowledgeable about each product. I have family who works in the furniture industry, so when I asked about the quality of the mattress in those industry terms, he was able to respond to my questions knowledgably and with the professionalism I did not find at those other stores. When my mattress was delivered a few days later, the team brought it in my new apartment and set it down right where it needed to be. This team was also kind and professional. The way he spoke to us, how patient, kind, and genuinely helpful he was, made us leave the other store and come straight to him. That alone says everything about his level of customer service. In person, he was even better. He took the time to really understand what we were looking for without ever making us feel rushed or pressured. He explained everything in such a clear and informative way, breaking down the differences between mattresses, bases, and features so we could actually make a confident decision. You can tell he truly knows his stuff and cares about helping people, not just making a sale. Joshua was incredibly kind, professional, and attentive the entire time. He made the whole process feel effortless, which is rare when making a big purchase like a mattress. We walked out feeling happy, confident, and honestly grateful that we ended up working with him. If you're thinking about buying a mattress, I highly recommend coming here and asking for Joshua. He made our experience unforgettable, and I wouldn't go to anyone else. At the time of purchase, we were told that if we were not comfortable, we could switch the mattress within four months with no issue. After about a month, I realized the mattress simply was not the right fit for me. The bed itself isn't necessarily bad -- it's just not comfortable for my needs, and I wanted to take advantage of the switch program as promised. Unfortunately, this is where the experience became extremely frustrating. We were informed that a switch fee must be processed through Synchrony Bank, and we have been completely unable to access our account due to "verification" requirements. We have submitted all requested documentation, yet it has now been over three weeks with no resolution. During this time, we have called daily, only to be told repeatedly to "wait another week." Mattress Firm employees have been polite, but they have not been able to assist, leaving us stuck in the middle with no clear answers. At this point, what was supposed to be a straightforward comfort guarantee has turned into a stressful and exhausting experience. We are concerned that this delay may push us beyond the four-month window, which feels unfair and unsettling. We have been patient and respectful throughout this process, but the lack of communication and progress has been extremely disappointing. We do want to escalate the situation at this point. Waiting almost over two months is a bit ridiculous. A big thanks to Michael who helped my wife and me out big time to find a great mattress when the mattress we bought online did not end up working out. We decided to see what was available locally and saw this location on our way to Sprouts. There's a large selection of mattresses, and we were greeted by Michael. We explained our situation to him, and he was sympathetic and explained what was likely going wrong with our online mattress. We tried a few mattresses, and really liked the luxury firm Euro-top Durapedic mattress. Michael checked our spinal alignment to make sure it would be a good fit for us. We were extremely fortunate that the store had a floor model from the previous year that was in really good shape and happened to be in the size that we were looking for. Michael gave us a really great deal, and we were so grateful that he was so knowledgable, helpful, and really made us feel that we could trust him. The delivery was smooth, and we have been sleeping on our mattress for the past month and have found it very comfortable and supportive. We would recommend Michael and Mattress City to everyone who's looking for a quality mattress from a trustworthy company. read more

My husband and I have been looking for a mattress for months, going to big stores waiting to see what type of deals will pop up but unfortunately the deals/mattress would not be good enough. I had heard about Mattress City from Winston and I checked yelp saw a lot of great reviews so I decided to try it out. Mike was the manager on site at the time and he was very helpful. He was very kind and knowledgeable and was able to help my husband and I find the right type of bed we were looking for and needed and it seemed as though we went at a perfect time since they were having a blow out sale and Mike was able to provide us with a great price. So all in all, our experience was perfect. I never felt as though the manager was trying to push a sale but was really trying to help and we found the perfect mattress with a great price! When I purchased the mattress from the Casper, I thought going into a shop is an old trend. After using trendy mattress over a month, I realized that my back problem was getting worse so that I went to Mattress city to try the mattresses out. Michael gave me a really detailed explanation one by one and helped a lot to choose the right mattress for me. For most of the people, the trendy mattress will work. My daughter is using another Casper mattress and she is fine with it, but people who have back problem or having issues with sleeping, I strongly recommend to go to this store, look for Michael, and test the mattresses out. I am the person who never writes a review but after the in-store experience, I felt that it was really helpful and made a right choice. Once again, thank you Mattress city! read more

Mike was super helpful the first time we came in. He suggested we try a new frame instead of selling us a bed we didn't need. He naturally earned out business when, just a few months later, we decided we needed a new mattress as well. Mike has great knowledge of how the mattresses support different body types and directed us towards multiple options that would work. He never pushed any based on price and made concessions based on being repeat customers. On top of it all, Mike juggled 3 different customers at the same time while maintaining his calm while delivering great service to all of us. We were able to pick up 2 mattresses and will be back soon to replace 3 more. Thanks Mike!! read more

I walked in genuinely excited to learn more about Sleep Number mattresses -- after all, I've heard nothing but great things about the brand, especially when it comes to improving sleep quality. I was greeted by a sales associate named Calvin, and things quickly went downhill from there. I told Calvin I was interested in a queen-size mattress. Instead of asking follow-up questions about my sleep habits, comfort preferences, or even showing me a single product, Calvin hit me with exactly one question: "Do you fall asleep fast?" I replied that yes, I tend to fall asleep quickly -- but I'm not getting quality sleep, which is why I was interested in Sleep Number in the first place. Calvin's response? "My recommendation is going to IKEA." I'm not joking. That was his actual response. IKEA. As in, "you're in the wrong store, go to a furniture warehouse with meatballs and hope for the best." This wasn't a lighthearted joke, this was Calvin's actual, dismissive "professional recommendation" for someone actively looking to buy a premium mattress. Needless to say, I walked right out. I'm not sure what business Calvin thinks he's in, but clearly it's not helping people sleep better or, you know, sell mattresses. To be clear: I won't be going to IKEA, and I sure as hell won't be returning to this Sleep Number location either. Unbelievable.

Instead he tried to convince us to purchase a size way bigger than what we had told him we were looking for. Then when he discovered we weren't in a rush to buy a mattress (basically not a quick sale) he immediately dismissed us and went to happily greet the next group who just walked in. So unbelievably rude. Ended up trashing the business card we were given because I don't plan on ever coming back here in the future to even look.
