We cannot talking about & recommending our bed, which we've only had for about 2 weeks! Wandered in after checking out a few other places/types of mattresses, and learned quite a bit about mattresses (in addition to having done our own research) from longtime owner, James. I really appreciate family owned businesses, and try to frequent non-"box" stores whenever possible. I felt the customer service was genuine & superior to other stores, which matters when you are spending a lot of money on an item that will not only be part of your everyday life, but may essentially improve it! This is also important if you might need to return or exchange an item, which is a pain, of course, & something ppl sometimes don't think about w/an essential... James also gave us thorough, patient advice on how to care for our mattress, and Felipe, who assisted with scheduling the delivery and a last minute purchase of a frame was so kind and professional! Thank you both! And now, this review is getting crazy long, and if you've read this far, you already know that you will sleep better if you check out this place! read more

Felipe didn't rush me at all, gave me all the info and laying down I needed to make an informed decision. I would have bought online like i do for everything, but what if it doesn't work out when you sleep on it? Returning it would be a nightmare. They have basically everything from $600 foam to nicer mattresses. He gave me a good deal on the delivery and threw in a mattress protector and some sheets too. read more

Received a temporary mattress as we wait for our mattress. I'm rewriting and updating it to give them a 5 for fixing and taking responsibility for the original service issues. I never give 1 stars and if I have, it's very seldom because business deserve second chances. Anthony and Paul definitely handled my problem with great professionalism and of course If the bed we receive is good to go I'll keep this at a 5. They took their time to leave the store and deliver the temporary mattress themselves, which is above and beyond. Businesses that take ownership of their mess ups, even if it's a couple times, is really important to me. I appreciate the effort because as a business owner myself, I would do the same. Thank you. read more

We were looking for a king mattress for our new place and Paul went above and beyond educating us and guiding us through testing multiple difference mattresses until we found the one that best suited our needs and budget! He was helpful and informational without being pushy, and made us feel like we made the right decision with his expert guidance. We came in with a rough idea of what we wanted, and ended up finding something different than what we originally thought, which was really interesting! We learned about different brands, different firmness and softness and which one would work best with our sleep type and body weight. He told us pros and cons of each one we were trying out, which really helped us land on our final choice. He was great to work with and I'd highly recommend coming by to get your mattress here! read more

The team here is incredible. I came in to purchase a mattress, and I was educated and informed about the selection available. I had lots of questions and they were answered with patience and thoroughness. I left the same day with a box spring and mattress scheduled to arrive a few days later! I'm super happy with my purchase. Thank you! read more

Thank you Paul for helping my grandma find the perfect mattress! He was very informative and helped me avoid driving to multiple stores to meet her needs. It was so nice to meet a sales person who genuinely cares about his customer. You don't see that much and I know this for sure since I work in customer service myself. If I need a mattress in the future, I'll go back most definitely and recommend my family! read more

Mattress City - Mattresses Near Me - Pasadena, California

I went to this location about two weeks ago as my mom has been looking for a new mattress. She checked out a few other places and didn't care for what she saw. At this point in her search, I just wanted her to find the right mattress because she was having back issues. We walked into Mattress City and met Paul and he was absolutely what we needed. He is so nice, intelligent, and knowledgable about mattresses. My favorite part - he spoke to my mom like a person and not a dollar. He let us try (pretty much) all the mattresses, was super patient, explained the differences based on her need, and didn't make us feel like something had to be bought right then and there. It was completely different from places like Macy's. I think we were with him for about 45 minutes and after talking with him, my mom got her new mattress. It was delivered, she loves it, and she is sleeping nicely! Paul was wonderful and I was so glad we found him. I'm really thankful that we got to work with him because he gave us a solution that my mom needed and she is thrilled. I don't need a mattress now, but whenever I do I will 10000000% be going to Paul. Paul, if you're reading this, thank you over and over again for helping my mom. I appreciate you so much! read more

Paul was the BEST! Very knowledgeable, he asked us all the right questions to help us figure out what type of mattress we needed. Amazing, James was very kind and helpful. Helped me find what I needed in price range. Highly Recommend.

Paul, the manager, went above and beyond to rectify the disappointing experience we had. He was on vacation when he called to explain what happened while also understanding that it didn't change the circumstance. As soon as it was possible he and Felipe (I believe is his name) came to our house themselves with the mattress. They set up the bed and hauled away the old one. They were in and out in about 20 minutes. Although the initial delivery process wasn't seamless I appreciate and respect that they took responsibility and rectified the problem. I felt they took our concerns seriously and genuinely wanted to make sure we were satisfied customers, which now we are. Thank you. read more

We needed a new mattress with ours being at least 10 years old, and needed something durable, long lasting and firm. We came here expecting to get one of those trendy "mattress in a box" ones -- but Paul convincingly sold us on the Tempurpedic. Sure, it's more expensive, but wow, the sleep we've had on it is great. I've been waking up much earlier than usual, and feel totally rested and wide awake when I get up. Also, we had to exchange the box springs -- the whole set up ended up being to high for my 5'0"-- and Paul made it super easy to do. Paul's a great guy, and I highly recommend this place. read more

Initially, my girlfriend and I had the unpleasant experience of our mattress not being delivered on the promised delivery day. The managers Paul & Felipe acknowledged their mistake and the major inconvenience it caused us. They made sure to rectify the situation personally, and went above and beyond in doing so by delivering our mattress and setting everything up as soon as possible Mistakes will understandably be made, and it was a very nice gesture for the managers to not only address the situation and admit fault, but to personally make it right for the customer. read more

In 2019, we bought an extra-firm queen mattress with box springs from Paul at Mattress City. We were so satisfied with the purchase, we brought a relative to Mattress City to replace their mattress. Fortunately, Paul was there that day. Purchasing the mattress was a breeze. Paul was very attentive to our relative's needs, and did not try to upsell. He was very knowledgeable about the products. He not only explained the key differences between the products, he even demonstrated how the springs work. The prices were already very competitive, and on top of that, delivery, set up, and haul away were included. Paul assured us that even though the product we had selected would be manually assembled, it should be ready in about 1-2 weeks. Exactly 6 days later, we received a call from the delivery company. The delivery team arrived on time, and set up / haul away took less than 10 minutes. Our relative complimented on the quality of the mattress. For a first time in a long time, they did not wake up in the middle of the night due to poor mattress support. Thank you, Paul! We will definitely return to Mattress City for future mattress needs. read more

Paul provided professional, pressure-free, hassle-free, and unhurried service, making the shopping experience pleasant and informative. Paul made it easy for me to select the best mattress for my particular circumstances. The delivery of the new bed and adjustable base was quick and efficient, too. I am very happy with the shopping experience, the delivery, and, most important of all, with the new bed. As to the price? Well, you get what you pay for, folks, and a good mattress is not something you should be stingy about because it affects the quality of your sleep and your overall health. A good mattress is always an excellent investment. So go see Paul and invest in yourself! read more

My boyfriend and I stepped into this store in hopes of finding a queen mattress that met our needs for both support and comfort. Based on the great reviews on Yelp, we expected to be met with a corresponding level of care, thoughtfulness and respect, and were extremely disappointed in the end, and left quickly when it became apparent that the store manager who was helping us, Daniel Ross, was not interested in anything we had to say. We felt completely unheard, and felt as though his approach to making a sale was unnecessarily aggressive and extremely condescending. Had I not felt so shut down and disrespected so soon, I would have wanted to stay and possibly explore even higher priced mattresses than we initially intended to buy. We ended up going to Mattress Firm around the corner, and had a much better experience with a more professional and pleasant store associate who was just as knowledgeable, but also respectful in listening to what we were comfortable with purchasing. Some advice to Daniel -- try actually listening to your clients' needs and guiding them to the right fit based on a combination of knowledge and basic respectfulness for other human beings. It'll take you far. read more
