I had one of the most baffling and disappointing customer service experiences of my life at the Sleep Number store in Arcadia (Santa Anita Mall) on June 6, 2025. I walked in genuinely excited to learn more about Sleep Number mattresses -- after all, I've heard nothing but great things about the brand, especially when it comes to improving sleep quality. I was greeted by a sales associate named Calvin, and things quickly went downhill from there. I told Calvin I was interested in a queen-size mattress. Instead of asking follow-up questions about my sleep habits, comfort preferences, or even showing me a single product, Calvin hit me with exactly one question: "Do you fall asleep fast?" I replied that yes, I tend to fall asleep quickly -- but I'm not getting quality sleep, which is why I was interested in Sleep Number in the first place. Calvin's response? "My recommendation is going to IKEA." I'm not joking. That was his actual response. IKEA. As in, "you're in the wrong store, go to a furniture warehouse with meatballs and hope for the best." This wasn't a lighthearted joke, this was Calvin's actual, dismissive "professional recommendation" for someone actively looking to buy a premium mattress. Needless to say, I walked right out. I'm not sure what business Calvin thinks he's in, but clearly it's not helping people sleep better or, you know, sell mattresses. To be clear: I won't be going to IKEA, and I sure as hell won't be returning to this Sleep Number location either. Unbelievable. read more

March 2023 - TLDR: Service 0 stars. Located in Arcadia mall. Noone greeted us when we walked in. After walking almost fully into the store, a gray haired salesman with glasses popped up. We asked what the difference was between the models and he didn't bother explaining and didn't show us the sample in the corner (which we later found ourselves). Instead he tried to convince us to purchase a size way bigger than what we had told him we were looking for. Then when he discovered we weren't in a rush to buy a mattress (basically not a quick sale) he immediately dismissed us and went to happily greet the next group who just walked in. So unbelievably rude. Ended up trashing the business card we were given because I don't plan on ever coming back here in the future to even look. I get salesman need to sell but at least try to be personable and sincere. At the very least have some tact. Pricing - Also it's honestly very expensive for a mattress but the service made me want to buy even less. The mattress employee at Macy's was so much nicer and way more informative. read more

I remember being asked if I had ever seen a commercial for Sleep Number, and he still manages to provide no information on the brand's concept. I decided to write for this place because I received amazing customer service from Calvin and learned how amazing these beds are. Walking in, you see a sleeping haven with so many different bed types and pillows. We have been struggling with sleep and was recommended by a friend who loves their sleep number. Calvin walked through trying out different beds and we really loved the p5 mattress with an adjustable base. The prices were much more expensive than we expected, but I can see why these beds are top of the game. Highly suggest working Calvin because he has tons of patience and is logical in helping the best bed for your needs. read more

Do not order from here. I went in requesting a second mattress order, and the sales rep was distracted the entire time. Instead of paying attention to what we required, he kept asking questions about my home, job, etc. Fast forward to 30 days later - and the wrong mattress is delivered! It specifically does not do what we needed it to do. They make you keep the mattress for a minimum of 30 days (MAJOR INCONVENIENCE) and the customer service is just as terrible as the in store team. They will refund the mattress but will not refund $498 dollars of it for delivery and pick up regardless of the reason for return. Just know that if you decide to buy - you're on the hook for $500. Gatekeeping salesman with poor judgement and careless strategy. He immediately asked us what kind of house we live in and who is the bed for and what our current mattress is. Dismissive and wouldn't demonstrate or let my partner try the mattress when he judged we may be too poor to afford their product. It wasn't until we were on our way out and my partner mentioned we live in Glendale his attitude changed completely, I was so disgusted by the sudden change in behavior. You can just tell they are low class by the way they judge and treat potential customers. Srsly this location is prob losing business because of this unprofessional behavior. My husband and I came into the store today to inquire about the different variations of mattresses sleep numbers has to offer and the holiday sale. Elliott approached us while he had another customer. He was very polite, professional and great at bouncing between us and his initial customers without any lack of attention. He started with a demonstration for us to show us exactly how the bed works along with all its features. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and personable. Elliott was very patient when my husband were undecided and had so many questions despite it being very close to the store closing. We thought the extended holiday hours were in effect. We never felt rushed or forced to make any purchases or decisions we didn't want to. He never tried to upsell and offer what he thought was truly right for us. After printing out several different quotes on various options we considered, Elliott was still very patient and took his time. At the end, we decided on the iLE King and left at 10PM. My only reason for the 4 stars? Despite the sale of 50% off, it still came out to about $3200. This was just for the mattress +taxes and no extras. (Delivery was free) A bed for over $6,000 is very steep. Just bare bones mattress. This is absolute no fault of Elliott's. I just hope the mattress lives up to its reputation. Then it will be well worth the money spent. Thank goodness for the 100 day trial period. We are looking forward to how it will do for us. Sleep number is very lucky to have Elliott and they should definitely know this! He is passionate about the product. As a customer, he can relate, as an associate, he represents it exceptionally! Sleep Number is a great mattress! I have owned it for over 4-5 years now and no problems yet. I had gone thru 2-4 mattresses in 2 years before I found Sleep Number! I saved so much money. He provided no information regarding the bed I was asking about and then just played with the settings. Something I could have done on my own. He left me for 10 minutes unattended and then came back asking "you ready to buy now"? Thought it was a joke. Stay away from any sleep number. I bought pillows online and they cannot be returned. I took their pillow quiz and bought the recommended pillows. Since the quality was very poor and not firm at all, I tried to exchange them. You can only do one-time exchange within 30 days but the shipping took 1 week. The store nearby is closed (due to covid) so I was not able to drive 15-20 miles for exchange. Now they wont let me exchange so I just wasted $200 and end up with the trash. My husband and I had been considering a sleep number bed after hearing so many good reviews. We took my son to Dave and busters and while browsing through the mall we stopped in with no real intention of getting the bed. Well, we left with one and my husband And I love our bed!! I don't wake up sore and I love that my hubby and I can sleep on our preferred firmness since we don't agree on that. The customer service was excellent! We were able to try all the beds and pillows and were a little indecisive but the rep was patient and was so informative. Calvin has great customer service! When there was an issue with my retainer bar he took it upon himself to go the extra mile and call with me in a 3-way call. He makes himself available and calls back when he says he is. I feel comfortable knowing that if I need anything Calvin is available and happy to help. One thing is the customer service on the phone, I had a rep give me wrong information and was on the phone for over one hour only to have the rep say she gave me the wrong information. She asked me if I wanted to get my $75 in pints pack and the parts sent out for the inconvenience and then came back and said she came back and said neither was possible. Ended the call frustrated. If I can rate separately zero star for the rep and the supervisor who gave her wrong information. Came at a pretty dead time but after a few seconds of coming in Elliot noticed me and asked if I had any questions. He was extremely knowledgeable about the products and did not make me feel any pressure about buying products. In fact, he happened to offer to show me how it works which led to pressure being relieved in my back. Outstanding performance from Elliot in my one visit will bring me back when my current mattress needs to retire. ******NOT WORTH THE MONEY, TIME OR YOUR ENERGY****** NO DISCLOSURE THAT ONCE THE ADJUSTABLE BASE IS DELIVERED IT IS NON-REFUNDABLE. My husband and I bought the i8 queen size bed with the adjustable base less than six months ago and so far it has been the worst sleeping experience we have ever had and waste of money. The bed we tried at the store is nothing like the bed we received. We were sold on the bed because we were told that when one person is moving around on their side the person on the other side does not feel it, which is far from the truth, when my husband gets on the bed I feel every motion, it feels almost as bad as a deflated airbed. Our bed is lopsided and it feels like we are going to fall off the bed. Also, the bed we purchased was supposed to help with body temperature control and the bed causes for us to feel too warm. I have never perspired so much in my life. When I called customer service to complain about the bed they informed us that they were going to replace the bladders so that we would not feel the motion as much but that there was still going to be motion felt with the new bladders and that they were not going to charge us for the bladders or having the technicians come out to fix the bed. ??? They were going to charge us to fix this lemon? They asked for me to check if the material was torn between the base and the bed cover which at that time it didn't seem to be but apparently it was we just didn't know where to check. As for the temperature we purchased the mattress protection cover which is what they said is causing the heat but if we take it off the warranty will be nulled, however, they tried to sell me sheets that were supposed cool the bed down. I informed them I will not be purchasing anything else from them. The technicians came to change the bladders but did not fix the issue with lopsidedness. The bed felt somewhat better but within two weeks the bed is lopsided again and even worse this time. I called customer service yet again only to find that the bed cover between the base is actually torn so here we go again. Now this time we are being sent another bed cover that my husband and I have to replace because if we want for it to be replaced by sleep number it will cost us $160+, which is ridiculous. I asked to speak with a supervisor and I needed to call back because the customer service person hung up on me. I had to call back to get a supervisor, Vick, who was not worth speaking to. I attempted to purchase an i8 split king with base for seven thousand the salesman was very professional but as soon as I brought up the warranty that is supposed to cover the bed 100% the fist year then prorated after that. But it is not!! If a technician has to be dispatched there is a $180.00 charge. They want you to call with your problem and Sleep Number will walk YOU through trying to fix the bed yourself!!! That to me is not a fully warranted item. They don't offer an extended warranty for any amount of years. So in my humble opinion and what I've researched on line and what I've gotten in information from Sleep Number employees you will pay for any issues with the bed system.... My parents needed a new mattress and decided they wanted to check out the sleep number beds. I called the Arcadia Mall store for their hours and Elliot answered and said that he would be more than happy to demonstrate how the beds worked as soon as we came in. When we arrived he greeted us right away and showed us all the different features and options. He spent about 2 hours with us. What I really liked is that he would step away to give us our space to discuss what we wanted to do. He would check in to let us know that he was available for questions. Don't listen to their REFERRAL REWARDS. It's crap. I'll get into that in a bit. The beds are great! I have a C-2 and if you want to save yourself about $400 here is my advice. If you don't care that you can't actually see what your SLEEP NUMBER IS then you can go with the C-2. The difference between the C-2 and the C-3 is the remote control and the foam they stuff the bed with. For me personally, once you figure out if you're comfortable in bed or not, you won't have to actually adjust the bed anymore (or at least, you shouldn't have to). So, seeing the number on the remote is not that important. After all are you comfortable or are you not? If you're not than make it firmer or softer. If you are then you didn't need to see a number! What does make a huge difference is a small amount of foam that they place in the beds. You can literally unzip a C-3 bed and you'll see the only difference is this tiny foam padding. Guess what!? You can buy it target for $20! So you guessed it, that's exactly what I did! By the way, the reason why I know this is because I bought a C-2 and a month later I referred my mom who bought a C-3. As for the referral program, if your referral lives in the same house as you, it doesn't count as a referral. My sales rep forgot to inform me of those facts so when I was sitting around waiting for my $50 gift certificate, their customer service department happily told me that I had to read the rules and see that because my mom lived in the same house as me, we did not qualify as a referral. When I asked them to explain the logic, no one could explain it to me. I literally had to open a twitter account and spam their wall saying that they ripped me. After about 10 different people kept responding to me that the rules said I didn't qualify for a referral regardless of what my sales rep said, I threatened them with taking it corporate. That's when they finally had someone call me and fix the situation. It's sad! A company that you spend over $3000 in their products won't even give you a $50 gift certificate to their stores because apparently one house is equal to one person. Other than that, I highly recommend the beds! Just go for a C-2 if you don't really need to see the NUMBER. It's a convenience but not a necessity! read more

I would give this company zero stars if I could. The sales associates will lie just to get a sale. I was referred by a friend and was given a referral coupon but instead of putting that coupon towards my purchase the sales associate used it towards another sale. He used my friends name as the owner of my bed and when I asked why my friends name was on my paperwork he says thats how the referral program works. Later when the bed was delivered the delivery guy verified who the bed was being delivered to which is supposed to be my friend who referred me since his name was on the paperwork. The delivery guy explains since my name is not on the paperwork I am technically not the owner which voids any warranty. I went to the store to have the names changed, and even called corporate and no one could help me. Apparently changing the name on an account is impossible even though I was the one who paid for it. So corporate finally let us return it and we would have to repurchase the bed again in our name and corporate would help us with the transaction. Our bed was picked up and you would think after a $3000 purchase corporate would follow up. No they did not. We never received one call or even a letter to apologize. So while we waited for corporate to reply we had no bed to sleep on. I would rather sleep on the floor then a sleep number bed. This company is crap. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. My significant other and I came in hoping to buy a mattress. We were extremely excited when we walked into the store. We came in on a Thursday evening and there was only one worker there. She was helping out another customer when we walked in, so we were patient and walked around the store trying out the beds on our own. We tried out almost every single bed in the store and kept waiting to be helped. Eventually, after waiting around, we decided to walk out. Here's why we walked out: -Never once were we greeted -Never once were we even ACKNOWLEDGED for being there -While we were walking around, we even crossed paths with the worker (she was about 2 feet in front of us) but didn't even look at us -We understood that you were helping out another consumer. At least say hi and that you'll be with us later. Do not completely ignore us. -We overheard her tone of voice when she was helping out the customer and she was extremely unenthused and seemed like she hated her job -We all know sales people have it tough but if you're going to have that type of attitude why are you in sales in the first place? -Needless to say, we didn't want to put up with such terrible service and walked out Sleep Number, the terrible service alone was enough to lose our business. Hire better workers to represent your brand. We'll be going elsewhere. read more

The guy NEVER returns, they had to do all paper work BY HAND! which was a waste of OUR TIME. They told us that we were able to schedule our own delivery date. Got our number and information. NEVER HEARD BACK! Did a follow up, GUESS WHAT? They had to push back the date because "WE miss the delivery date" Even despite that, we waited till the day they gave us. NEVER SHOWED UP! We called, we were told "OUR FAULT AGAIN" because they didn't have OUR UPDATED NUMBERS! are you serious???? WE had given them the full information 3. DIDN'T EVEN WANT TO TRY TO APOLOGIZE! Just purchased another sleep number bed today after enjoying the last one for many years. I was surprised to see how the technology and options have gotten even better since my previous purchase. If you are looking to buy a mattess, do your homework and first get a demonstration at the conventional spring mattress and memory foam stores, and then come to the sleep number store. Ask for Elliot. He is very knowledgeable and helpful. He showed me by way of something that looked like thermal imaging, where the pressure points (shown in red) are on my body when I lay down. Then he adjusted the air setting in the mattress to where there was no tension or pressure on any part of my body (shown in green). He found the ideal personal sleep number setting for me, which is 40. As far as I'm aware, no other type of mattress can tailor to your body's needs as accurately as a sleep number bed can, not even memory foam. And as far as comfort goes, just try laying on the "i8 360 Smart Bed." It is pure heaven!!! Yes these beds are expensive, but they have a warranty of 25 years and should be viewed as an investment in your health because you will get the best nights sleep you've ever had. I had a Select Comfort bed bought from this location. Once in 1999 and 2006. Although my review is not based on this store, it's about the quality and comfort of the bed. The beds were purchased at this store in Arcadia. The bed was comfortable at first...the first 3 months. The older bed was a basic model. The air chamber leaked out twice. The 20 year warranty does not cover that in full. The newer bed was the adjustable head type. That had issues with unevenness and the air chamber leaked twice. They don't let you transfer the warranty the bed even though my mom gave it to me. She was irritated that the bed was so uncomfortable and customer service couldn't help her fix that issue. So they wanted me to pay $181+ for the air chamber. I wouldn't recommend these beds because the air chamber leaks easily (we are not overweight people), the beds are expensive, the warranty does not cover in full, comfortability does not last. I'm sure the 20 year warranty was a gimmick that's not fully disclosed of its limitations at the time of sale. read more

this company is a scam. i bought a 5000 cal king mattress a few years ago "so i thought." now i found out it was the wrong bed. it was my first cal king mattress so i didn't realized it was the wrong bed until i bought new furniture. my old furniture did not have a base where the mattress should be so i didn't notice it was the wrong size. i purchased a cal king bed set and found out my bed didn't fit. the delivery man thought i was insane because i showed him my select comfort receipt that states my bed is suppose to be a cal king. i called customer service and spoke to a supervisor named andy b. he told me i should have measured my bed and that there's nothing he could do because its past the return period. i asked him if he normally measured his mattress and he stated he did. what an a$$. he was condescending and rude. if i never owned a cal king mattress, how can i tell the difference by looking at it. he insisted that i should have known and that it didn't matter if i had invoices that showed i purchased a cal king mattress. this company is a joke. i didn't want them to replace my bed or anything but it would have been nice if they offered to pay for the delivery and restocking fee since i had to exchange the furniture. overall the bed is ok but the service is horrible. every year there is a slight problem. one of the chambers keeps deflating and the foam becomes distorted. read more

I like my sleep number bed, I however do not like all the problems that comes with an air mattress that is also with an adjustable base. i got mine bed in 2007 or so and I was told that a replacement remote would cost $20 and that I could get it from a store. well, my remote broke so I called a store. the guy I spoke to told me to call Corporate. I .had no choice but to replace my remote . I called hoping that someone would help me right away smh. I was on hold for 30 mins or so . I feel like I could get a live person from the DMV even faster. I used to work in retail so I already know this technic. put them on hold so the customer thinks that the product is so amazing that we must get this product . anyways, my replacement remote costed in total of $54. the person I spoke to sound drunk and I wasn't sure I would even get my remote but I did a week later. my replacement remote had no instructions so I called corporate again. I was on hold for 45 mins at 9am wtf. when I finally got a live person but her computer wasn't even working. omg she kept asking me to look under my bed for the serial number. I couldn't find it . I was then told that I would be transfer to another department . the next guy I spoke to ask again for the serial number which I just could find. after trying for 15mins he said oh I don't need it anymore after all that wasted time he helped me reprogram my remote in 2 mins. I do not recommend a sleep number bed. it's too stressful to take care of a mattress. btw, the website is no help just like each customer service phone line. I rambled like an idiots and I know there are bad grammar and punctuation but I'm so pissed off at sleep number . my bed cost over $5000 and I get BS from these assholes . read more
