I went to this location about two weeks ago as my mom has been looking for a new mattress. She checked out a few other places and didn't care for what she saw. At this point in her search, I just wanted her to find the right mattress because she was having back issues. We walked into Mattress City and met Paul and he was absolutely what we needed. He is so nice, intelligent, and knowledgable about mattresses. My favorite part - he spoke to my mom like a person and not a dollar. He let us try (pretty much) all the mattresses, was super patient, explained the differences based on her need, and didn't make us feel like something had to be bought right then and there. It was completely different from places like Macy's. I think we were with him for about 45 minutes and after talking with him, my mom got her new mattress. It was delivered, she loves it, and she is sleeping nicely! Paul was wonderful and I was so glad we found him. I'm really thankful that we got to work with him because he gave us a solution that my mom needed and she is thrilled. Had to check this place out after seeing the 5 star help review for 300+ total reviews. My gf and I came in on a Friday evening, there was only another couple being helped in the store and it was pretty empty. I'm glad it was because Daniel was able to focus on helping us to make sure we were well informed before making the purchase. I must say, the hype is real! Daniel helped me out and I really appreciated the knowledgeable and genuine customer service. It was my first time mattress shopping and Daniel was helpful, honest and straight to the point! He gave me insight on how the back should be aligned and recommended a firm type mattress. I told him my budget was in the $400-$450 range m and showed me options between a $900 mattress vs $550 mattress. The best mattress shopping experience ever! We've been looking for a replacement mattress for our guestroom and also for one of us to sleep with our toddler when she gets sick. It's been hard though because every time we go to a furniture or mattress shop, the sales people get very pushy trying to sell only Tempur-Pedic mattresses. So to our surprise when we walked into Mattress City just to pass time, Daniel was the complete opposite and a breath of fresh air. My wife and I stopped by the store on Lake looking for pricing and information on mattresses. I expected a lot of brain damage in the process. Instead, 45 minutes later Daniel had helped us and we were walking out with 3 new mattresses plus all the stuff to go with them (pillows, frames, box springs, covers) and best of all a warm-comfy feeling that we made a good choice that we would be happy with, for a reasonable price. My sister got a mattress here and I went with for moral support (lol). The two guys were really warm and friendly--not creepy or car-salesman-y! I suspect that all of the prices are marked way up so they can "afford" to cut you a deal. That being said, I'm pretty sure all mattress stores use that sales strategy. My sister got a great mattress, slightly firmer than she initially was searching for. This choice was made thanks to Daniel's recommendation for her back pain and HE WAS RIGHT!! Can't say enough things about Daniel, the manager of the store. My husband and I walked in after lunch expecting to buy a mattress some time "in the future". We weren't expecting to buy a mattress THAT DAY so we were hesitant about pushy salespeople trying to close us in a pressure situation. We couldn't have been farther from what actually happened. Daniel had a few customers in the store but was still attentive. He let us browse and try on mattresses without being too pushy. Once he saw we had some questions about a few mattresses, he was able to answer all of them thoroughly. He really knows his mattresses! Long story short (maybe we're already past that point), we were offered a GREAT deal by Daniel and decided to wait no longer. We took an evening to sleep on it (pun intended) and came back the next morning to purchase a Tempur Pedic bed. And Daniel really hooked us up! I was excited to get all the additional freebies that came with the purchase (including a pair of $150+ Tempur Pedic pillows, bed sheets, box spring, bed frame) -- basically EVERYTHING we needed for our first night's sleep except the blanket. This experience was so different from the other 2 times I've had to purchase a mattress and I will definitely be sending more friends his way. I didn't feel pressured at all to make the purchase. TL;DR: Mattress City is great, they take care of you. Even if you think you've got "the one" picked out, check them out and talk to Daniel before you pull the trigger. Ok, straight up, I hate mattress shopping almost as much as I hate car shopping. It's painful because it's rather important to get a good one that fits your needs and it's a fairly big purchase you'll keep for 10-20 years. I bought my last mattress online and it was a big mistake because I couldn't return it easily, it was softer than I wanted it to be, and it was just not for me. However I stuck it out for almost 10 years and decided I couldn't do it anymore. I deserve better than this floppy, heavy mattress that sags. This time, I decided not to make the mistake of "not trying before buying" and went to a few mattress places to test out a bunch of mattresses. Even though it was time consuming, I wanted to make sure I got the right one. I actually went to several different mattress stores I even went all the way to the South Bay from east LA to test out the Casper) for a couple weekends in a row until I went to Mattress City and met Daniel. Granted, everyone at all the other mattress stores were nice and attentive, but Daniel was the only one who made me feel like it was more than a sale; he actually cared I got the right mattress to fit my needs. He showed he was extremely knowledgeable about mattresses, he stayed open late, and he was patient with me going from one mattress to another a hundred times. Boom. Bought the mattress the same day. Done. I'm still waiting out the break in adjustment period, but so far I'm very please with the mattress. Had an amazing experience at this place, especially with Daniel. He was very patient with us as we asked many questions and made sure to answer all of them honestly and thoroughly. He is very experienced at what he does and makes sure to help you with anything he can. What blew us away was the fact that he acknowledged our kids, stopped what he was doing to blow them balloons and showed us his collection of kids art that he's had from the past. My girlfriend and I finally decided to bite the bullet on a Tempurpedic mattress, and we chose to come to Mattress City due to the great yelp reviews and its certification as a Tempurpedic Elite retailer. The reviews do not lie; Eric, the sales associate who helped us today, was incredibly knowledgeable on the entire Tempurpedic lineup of mattresses. We weren't sure which one to choose, but this store had all of the modern Tempurpedic models for us to try out. Eric was also very informative and proactive in helping us choose the right model, asking us questions about our sleeping positions, whether we had any back pain, and explaining the pros, cons, and general differences between each model. He also made sure that we were using the proper bed base to avoid voiding our Tempurpedic warranty (slats are no good!) This SCINTILLATING mattress store was the first place my fiancé and I visited when mattress shopping. We were amazed at how knowledgeable, honest, relatable, and helpful Daniel Ross, the GM, was in selling to us. I am a germaphobe and appreciated the king sized mattress cover they had for us to try out beds in a safe manner. Daniel also explained the science of how our bodies rest best when our backs are supported well. He was helpful in getting us the best deal and explained the Dura pedic to us. Up until recently, I had been (foolishly) sleeping on the same inner-spring mattress for probably over 20 years (yeah, the same one I had since I was a kid). It didn't really occur to my dumb ass that I should probably buy a replacement mattress until the sharp end of a spring coil started tearing through the top of the mattress, incessantly poking me in the back. Although I flipped the mattress and started to sleeping on the other side, I finally took the goddamn hint (waking up with occasional back aches/pains probably also helped power that light bulb that started glowing over my head), and began my quest to find a new mattress. Although I could have ordered a mattress online, I decided it would probably be best to visit a brick-and-mortar mattress store, so I could try out several different options firsthand, and select the best one. I ended up choosing this particular Mattress City as my destination, due to a combination of overwhelmingly positive feedback (thanks Yelp! This is one of those instances where your reviewer aggregate didn't screw me) and relatively short drive. There is a large public parking lot behind the store, and last I checked, the first two hours are free. When I walked in the store, I met the manager/salesman, Michael M., a most professional gentleman, I must say. He was extremely helpful and informative in aiding my selection of the mattress/foundation most appropriate for me. I would like to applaud Michael for his forbearance as well: he was extremely patient with me and my questions, and spent a good hour (or two) educating me on the various nuances of mattresses. Not *once* did I ever feel like he was trying to pressure me into hurrying my ass up and making a purchase. When he asked me what I was looking for in a mattress (e.g. firm/soft), I pointedly told him: "I want the softest goddamn mattress you sell. I want to feel like I'm sleeping on a f****** cloud". He smiled, and without further ado, directed me to the Tempur-pedic Cloud Luxe in the showroom. As soon as I laid on it, I experienced overwhelming feelings of love, comfort, and desire that I have never felt with any other inanimate object (or human being for that matter). By the time Michael demonstrated the vibrating massage and head/foot adjustment abilities of the foundation, I was ready to put a ring on the bed, if only it had fingers. I started lovingly caressing the mattress with my gentle touch, and passionately whispered to it: "Mi amor ... *you* are what has been missing in my life all these years. I am now a complete man. As long as I have *you*, I don't need anything else ... or *anybody* else. I ... love you ..." Although I *knew* that I had found "the one", I nonetheless asked Michael to recommend some alternate mattresses in the showroom for me to try, just so I could compare and contrast my selection with the other options that could also potentially meet my needs and desires. In the end, none were able to rival the Cloud Luxe in comfort (although some did rival or exceed it in price), and my decision was finalized. Michael was even generous enough to throw in a memory foam pillow and mattress protector at no extra charge. ~$5500 and maybe about a week or two later, a delivery truck showed up at my home. Two gentlemen exited, removed my decrepit old mattress and box-spring (and disposed of it for me), and moved in my new mattress and foundation. I can say without hesitation that this bed was the best single financial decision I've ever made in my entire life. Yes, I could have bought a (lesser) queen size mattress and foundation for MUCH less money. Yes, the bed is heavy and nearly impossible to move. Yes, it took an *insanely* long time to finish gassing off (one of the costs of going with memory foam). Yes, the bed sets my back afire on hot nights. *I don't care*. I now sleep more comfortably than I ever have before in my life. Backaches are now a hazy, repressed, distant memory of darker years past, best forgotten. No longer do I wake up feeling like I've been shanked in the small of my back by a death row inmate. The feeling of being like a hobo sleeping on the cold, merciless sidewalk in skid row has vanished into thin air, replaced with feelings of euphoria ... and the giddiness that can only come from anticipation of yet another good night's sleep. People I know often tell me I was crazy to spend so much of my (not-so-hard-earned) money on a bed. Well, to that I invariably reply with the following observations: you spend (more or less) a third of your life in bed. Your health, mood, state of mind, and quality of life are unavoidably affected by how well you sleep. How can ANYONE put a price on those things? Therefore, I concluded that a bed is something that one should NEVER try to cut corners on. As far as I'm concerned, my bed pays for itself every night. I let them give me the sales pitch, but went here AFTER going to Ortho and Sit n' Sleep and so I could really compare it and go in very much knowledgeable on the mattress models and prices. And it's pretty much what I expected. I felt pressured, the sales guy was trying to push me to the more expensive mattresses and when I said I wanted cheaper, he seemed to not have much available, which might be the case. It's a small store, not much selection and they seem to like to cut their listed price and try to give me a deal. They tell me they will undercut competitors, but then that's difficult as a number of their mattress models aren't carried by sit n' sleep.
