I went to Lauren for a few years when she first started doing hair, and I loved it then. No only will she be your best hype woman she is a total pro. Now after returning to the state after an 11 year hiatus I booked an appointment first thing. Color: she flawlessly matched my last color and updated it just the way I asked. She took into consideration time between appointments as well. She put purple in my hair and the color is still going strong weeks later. Plus it's so shiny. Cut: I've always loved her cuts, and as I often change my length and style she has always impressed me vs. others who seem stuck to one style. Also my hair went from stick straight wavy after pregnancy, and I always walk out with plenty of bounce. Makeup: She did on site makeup for me at my wedding years ago, she met my concept needs and was a dream to have there on that day. Also, upon return from island life I needed a day to day makeup refresh for my mature skin. She went above and beyond helping me to select new product and did a full personalized application/tutorial. I will def use this service again for other looks or events. I booked an appointment online several days ago for a haircut today at 11am ; I got a confirmation of my appointment as well as several reminders, including a reminder by text 1hr before my appointment. When I got there, the door was closed ; waited 15 minutes, trying to call the owner, but no one ever showed up or picked up the phone. So far no one has contacted me. Disappointing! read more

I'm a bit particular about my hair. Vacillating constantly between cutting it a tiny bit, shaving my head, adding some color or straightening it. That, and the fact that I have incredibly curly half-African American, half-Cuban hair... makes getting any service in Seattle a bit challenging. Needless to say, I arrived at Lalascuts a bit indecisive. Lauren was so patient as I tried to describe the exact shade of eggplant I wanted my highlights to be. She explained the benefits of applying a dye that would lift the hair first - instead of going directly to the bleach. The color turned out spectacularly. I mean really fabulous! I don't even live in Seattle, and I think Lauren will be my go-to colorist from now on. Aside from her amazing skills, Lauren is a fantastic person. She's funny and kind and talks just the right amount (about just the right hilarious subjects). In other words, you don't feel trapped while waiting for your service to be completed. Lala's was exactly what I needed at this point in my life. Her studio is open, natural, elevated, clean and aesthetically pleasing. I made an appointment online (super easy) and showed her a few pictures of what I wanted. She is skilled at her trade, walks you through the process, and is efficient with your time. If I could give this 0 stars I would. I went through Lala's cuts for my wedding and was extremely disappointed. For starters, I was charged $150 for my "consultation" which did not even include any styling- I ended up asking for a refund on this. My hair on my wedding day looked nothing like what I asked for and then on top of that I was charged way over what we had previously discussed. I hired Shane Martos, a makeup artist who is a friend of Lauren's, do to my bridesmaids' makeup. Although he did a fine job, it was not the look I asked for. He also way over charged based on our previous discussion and is now refusing to give me a breakdown of the charges. I have asked twice now, very politely, and was told to "leave me alone and get a hobby." Absolutely unprofessional. I would not recommend LaLa's Cuts to anyone. read more

After listening carefully and sympathetically to my 'tale of woe' and hearing what it was I really wanted, she described her plan of action and executed it perfectly. She took what initially can only be described as 'middle-aged bob' and gave me the more edgy look I was hoping for. She also took the time to show me how to style it myself going forward. Lauren is my favorite hairstylist in town, hands down. She's taken my grown-out balyage blonde to a rich, natural-looking light brown in the winter and, recently, to the perfect shade of bright blonde for the spring/summer. Well, apart from having friends of mine insist I book her for an appointment, she's been unbelievably patient in working with me to ensure the color I get is both flattering and what I want. I recently had my hair bleached and toned by another stylist and fully panicked when, a few days later, my hair was a gross yellow. I got in touch with Lauren and she was incredibly kind, taking a ton of time to explain what I needed to do to fix my hair at a moment when I was afraid to be seen in public (mind you, this wasn't even during an appointment - I just called her up and she helped me). A few days later, I had an appointment where Lauren worked with me forever to make sure the color I was getting was the color I wanted (she also didn't skip over the important home-care instructions that are no joke for platinum hair). I left with hair that I'm psyched about, and even though I know I'll get sick of the maintenance this color requires in a few months, I also know I can go back to Lauren to scale back to something more natural that I'll also love. Wanted to give Lauren a great review and am glad to see she has lots of others as she deserves it! She really takes her time with your hair and concerns and makes it right. Too many stylists just want to style you and move on but Lauren listens to your questions and helps you look your best. She is also just such a lovely person, so kind and easygoing. Most hairstylists I've gone to I feel so uncomfortable with (I am not a fashiony, heavy makeup type person) but Lauren is like a cousin or friend you just can relax with. But don't get me wrong, if you did like more high fashion she is in tune to that too. I just appreciate her casual side to make me feel comfortable. Her home salon is really pretty and nicely set up. I've seen her several years now from when she was at Intermezzo and all my cuts from her also grow out perfect as well if I can't get back for a cut for a while (which happens for me in the summer as I am out of town then). She also cut my son's longer hair for his first professional cut and did a great job on that. My hair is not complicated and I don't do color but I have a stubborn cowlick and some wave that is different on each side of my head (plus less volume of hair than I had in my 20s and 30s) and she can work around your individual hair texture and problems to get the right cut.
