When I first tried this place 4 years ago, I wasn't impressed enough to re-order from them.
Today however I was in mood for biryani and both deliveroo and uber eats had a place named Lahore Biryani which seemed to have an authentic Lahori menu. I couldn't find anything online for 'Lahore Biryani London' - google only threw up the uber and deliveroo links.
So I decided to try my luck, if it was terrible biryani I could throw it away and return to my no-carb diet, an eevening early.
I ordered the lamb biryani and the mixed biryani (1/2 lamb - 1/2 chicken) I cannot tell you how wonderful the mutton was (lets face it - lamb on an Indian or Pakistani menu, normally implies mutton) This meat was meltingly soft and gorgeously cooked in a wonderful melange of spices. I have not had better mutton in London. And the rice was completely non oily, just fragranced. A beautiful Lahori style biryani which I enjoy - except for the sliced green peppers / capsicums, I'd prefer chopped fresh green chillies.
The chicken too was good, but that mutton, I tell you.... absolutely drool worthy.
The chicken tikka karahi was unusual, the meat again was fantastic, but the masala was just ok for me.
The samosas too were very good.
At the end of the meal, I decided that I had to create the page for Lahore Biryani on Yelp.
So I looked up the address on the bill and decided to google the associated post code. That's when it threw up Lahore Grill. I checked the website on yelp and the menu now shows the same menu as that on Deliveroo and uber for Lahore Biryani.
The menu is different from the old Lahore Grill. They no longer have chapli kebab and the biryani is very different from what I tasted all those years ago. So I'm not sure whether it is under new management or they have got better cooks, but I'm very happy to finally find an excellent biryani that can be delivered home. read more
