Food was very good and service was great. Restaurant is small but very clean. Parking was okay, allowed to park in open motel stalls.

Love this place. Can't say enough good things about it. The staff is friendly and they always greet us with a smile. The food is always good. The Ginger Chicken on Rice is great. It has a good mix of chicken and veggies. They are quick, you can easily place a phone order. The only bad thing about this is the parking. It's trash. Go with a friend in case you need to drive around and need to pick up your food. The food more than makes up for this minor inconvenience. Everyone has childhood cuisine memories and this place conjures those thoughts with their Chinese dishes and plate lunches. Their sizes for their dishes overall are generous. On Tuesday 3/17, although it was St. Paddy's Day, we celebrated a belated CNY since Paul C. was out of town and I was in Japan for a week during the Lunar Celebration. No excuse needed for a party. Paul did the ordering and the food was great, as usual. And to top it off, Paul C. paid for dinner. Then on Saturday 3/21, Chun M. from New York was in town and we again had dinner at Magoon Chinese. Paul C. again ordered and Daniel C. provided the restaurant with a large fish to cook for our dinner. All the food was great, and chun M. served the fish to us in superb style. Delicious hidden Chinese spot! Busy with lots of takeout at lunch, but food came out decently speedy and very fresh for those dining in. Parking directly for the restaurant is minimal, but they allow for parking in the attached hotel spots. So it becomes even more easily accessible! Chow Funn is one of the best on this island that I have had so far. Fried rice is a bit flavorless, alike to unseasoned white rice. A tried and true lunch option you can never go wrong with when you're craving quick Chinese food. So much so, that this place is in my colleague's rotation of suggestions whenever we want take out. I usually go with their lunch combos, but I decided to try something new this year and get their roast chicken over cake noodle. I was not disappointed! For less than $20, I got two meals out of this because there was so much! The chicken was moist but had a flavorful and crispy skin. My only tip would be to order the sauce/veggies they top the cake noodles with on the side so your noodles don't get too soggy. To reheat, pop it in the air fryer and you're good to go!! I've only ever ordered take out from Lagoon, but at some point, I'd like to dine in. On another foodie adventure with Yelp Elite All Star buddy Donna O. I was introduced for my first time to Lagoon Chinese Restaurant. Mind you, I just enjoyed a full nine course plus Chinese dinner the night before at Yi Xin Cafe, in the Market City Shopping Center. Sadly, I was not hungry for Chinese food, and Donna assured me that the restaurant had many other choices. There is free parking available here in a small lot. Otherwise, you will need to find street parking. Restrooms are available outside the restaurant and you will need to request the key for entry into the bathroom. Minus one star for MSG used here. It's just not my favorite seasoning. I know it adds flavor! But I'm sensitive to MSG. I ended up ordering a hamburger with crinkle cut fries. Donna ordered Minute Chicken with cake noodles, and stir fried green beans with pork (not on menu). Donna let me try both dishes. Both were very tasty! My hamburger and fries were good. OMG, my friend casually mentioned the Lagoon restaurant was owned by Lam's. OF COURSE when I was at Lam's, I asked if Lagoon had Look Fun with beef tendon in soup. They said YES!!!!! What???? This could elevate Salt Lake dining alone. Man this area looks so sketchy with rail above and it's connected to a motel? I mean, it's a weird location and BTW you do not enter to the right of the restaurant- it's ONE WAY out. You go in on the next entrance and go around the entire motel and almost exit and you will see the parking on the left. What can I say about the interior? Well, Lam's looks full on upscale now. Lagoon looks like a tiny hole in the wall in a weird location with a motel attached. I saw some people eating - looks like they came from the motel. BUT THE SOUP! I specifically asked if it was the SAME look fun in soup from Lam's and they said YES. I ordered take out and it was heavy - another plus. They asked me if I wanted hot mustard or hot sauce - which confused me, I took the hot sauce. I took it home and it was nice and hot and everything that Lam's is known for. To be honest I like to drive to China Town and eat at Lam's but this was exactly the same. Same amount - which is a perfect amount. Fills you up and leaves you totally satisfied. Let me put it this way, this is easily one of the best noodle soups on the island if not anywhere in Hawaii. It's perfection in soup and there is no other place that I know of that makes this soup this good. To me, it's better than so many other ramen places in terms of perfection and making you feel satisfied and good. Again, it does have anise and Chinese slant (of course) so if you don't like Chinese herbs etc.... you may not like it. But for me, it is one of the best and is perfection in a soup. I think I will still drive to Lam's but when I need this soup, it's a quick drive to Lagoon Chinese restaurant. I am full and satisfied while typing this review. Brother-in-law took me and wifey to Lagoon Chinese Restaurant. for lunch. We ordered Beef Chow Funn Cold Ginger Chicken and Ham Ha Ong Choy. The first two dishes were on spot. It's the Ham Ha Ong Choy that brought back memories of my grand fathers cooking. That pungent smell of the Ham Ha sauce and the stir fried ong choy. After many visits with friends and with my mom, I would now rate it a 5 stars for the yummy food, great service, and good prices! Lagoon Chinese restaurant is a hidden gem off of Lagoon Drive on Waiwai loop. Who would have thought there was a Chinese Restaurant here until I saw the check ins from Elite Yelpers Jo Y, Paul C and Heidi H! Not only serving Chinese food but they are opened for breakfast with breakfast and local barbecue dishes. They catered to the Pacific Marina Inn guests on property too. Not only was the food delicious here, it was pretty reasonable compared to other Chinese Restaurants' prices. The restaurant was casual and clean. The one unisex restroom was outside and shared by others but needed a key. Service was good and hot tea is complimentary. The restaurant was popular among locals and they are really busy with take outs orders! Abundance of parking near by on the street and parking in the lot to the right near the restaurant. I was told you can park any where on the property! My friend who always preferred to eat anywhere but Chinese food for years, enjoyed the food here! My mom and I dined here twice and ate the same two of my favorite dishes again. My mom enjoyed it so much, and told the lady worker that everything was so good and it was her first time here! Wondering what it was? The minute chicken cake noodles and string beans with minced pork (not listed on the menu) were really tasty here! Great chef skills! With so many Chinese restaurants closing especially the old school chop suey places, I'm so glad we still have a few good restaurants left! Lagoon Chinese Restaurant is located inside/right next to Pacific Marina Inn Hotel. My boyfriend was staying at that hotel when he came to visit and I heard good things about the restaurant. We weren't really hungry but still wanted to fill our stomachs with food, so we went kind of late... about an hour before closing. Since we weren't hungry, I didn't get to order anything my friends recommended (bad mistake). We decided to share the Combo C plate which comes with fried rice, sweet sour spareribs, roast pork, beef broccoli, and 2 pieces of crispy won ton. Okay, I'm not gonna lie... it was okay. It wasn't the best and it wasn't that terrible. BUT the crispy gau gee was the most terrible part. The filling was so so tiny that we didn't eat it. It's been a long time since I came to this restaurant, I'm so happy with all the Rail being built, the Inn and Restaurant is still standing strong, went there during lunch time and I was so happy to see a lot of people, construction workers and the elderly dining in. You can tell they've been loyal to this restaurant employees treat them like family. I got my order to go and I was so pleased with the to go containers and how it was them paper plate to go plate lunch but it was them leak proof plastic containers..my beef broccoli has sauce and no leak. Everything I ordered was amazing. I also ordered their oyster sauce cake noodles , didn't get a pic but flavor was there.. the restaurant was super clean, no dirtiness on the tables or trash on the floor. I ordered Catering for another Office Lunch goodbye party - I needed to feed 11 people - all women. I went in and paid for the order in person a week before the luncheon. The cashier was really friendly and patient with me as she explained what size pans would be enough to feed the group. This place was still busy with takeout calls at 4pm! I ordered: 2 pounds of Roast Pork Small tray of Beef Broccoli Small tray of Crispy Chicken on Cake Noodle (sauce on side) 15pc Rice cakes for dessert I wanted to pickup the order at 10am (they open at 930am) but was told that the roast pork will not be ready till 1030a. My coworker and I arrived there at 10am for pickup and we were prepared to wait till 1030 but it was ready by 10:15am. Not sure if they felt pressured to hurry because we arrive early....but I appreciated their effort to finish earlier. The only criticism was that the Beef Broccoli was on cake noodle. We already had a cake noodle dish, so I wanted just Beef Broccoli but somehow ended up with 2 cake noodles dishes. The roast pork was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. PERFECT. Best to visit during non-peak hours. Come as you are. There are a few round tables in the middle including rectangular tables to the left and right. Beef Broccoli: Sliced beef tasted very tender. Thinly sliced carrots tasted yummy. Broccoli was slightly crunchier. Sauce was light tasting and complemented the beef. Sweet and Sour Pork: Loved how the acidity of the pineapple chunks balanced well with the red and green bell peppers, onions, plus the sauce. Pork tasted tender and moist on the inside. Crispy coating was a match made in heaven with the sauce oozing over the plate. Cold Ginger Chicken: Liked how two containers with the lids of ginger sauce arrived next to the chicken. Ideal for pouring when ready to eat. Generous amounts of ginger sauce was the perfect ratio to pour and coat over the cold, cooked chicken. Delicious! Crispy Chicken Cake Noodles: Chicken tasted very moist and complemented the crispy skin. Light sauce added a nice touch to the chicken and cake noodles. Server provided impeccable customer service along with complimentary hot tea. Our Server communicated in Cantonese to workers and in English to customers. Lagoon Chinese restaurant is located by Lagos drive. If you go there now, it is right by the new rail station and you will not miss. They have parking around the building. There are signs on the fence saying parking for register guest only, but when I ask the worker in the area where I can park, they said all the stores. Lagoon Chinese is owned my Lam's Kitchen, same owner but difference menu. But they do have some very similar items. The price is affordable. I ordered the beef look fun soup style. We went to lagoon Chinese restaurant for an early lunch get together and it was a good thing, because after that the restaurant was packed with all the tables full and customers waiting outside. They have a shared parking with the hotel which they are connected to on the ground floor. We all had a great time and the food choices were very good and tasty. We had chicken cake noodles which was great that they brought the sauce separately to not over soaking the cake noodles, the only thing the cake noodles came out over cooked an extra crispy which the sauce could soak into the noodles. The ground pork and string beans were very good not over cooked which gave the green beans a good texture. The crispy Gau gee was good and crispy and tasty. The steamed fish and vegetables was good but it had so much vegetables and hardly any fish and what worst we ordered a plate of mixed vegetables which was too much vegetables dish left over. Reasonable prices, generous portions, friendly polite service, with a menu that includes most of your local Cantonese favorites. Food is fresh and clean tasting without an MSG taste and it came out right away! Normally I star the items I enjoyed over the others to remember what to order next time. What a great neighborhood Chinese restaurant I happened upon! Hidden in one of the streets in the Ke'ehi Lagoon area, this Chinese restaurant will definitely be one of my "go-to's." The prices are reasonable and the food delicious. We ordered a combo plate that included sweet sour spareribs, beef broccoli , fried rice, roast pork, and crispy won ton and a ginger chicken/charsiu rice plate. To keep this post from going long, just know that everything on both plates were tasty and tender. I would forgo the crispy wonton because it was cold and the hot tea-- not sure what that was. One of my favorite Chinese Restaurant, always a bonus when I get to dine at Lagoon, due to location, timing, & the business hours. I wish they close later for dinner and sometimes out of the the way for us depending on the situation. Another bonus is Lagoon Chinese Restaurant is part of the Lam's Kitchen family, so if you want Lam's and don't want to deal with driving to Chinatown, this is win win and can go to Lagoon instead. The service is great as well, I would like to share my most recent experience, my daughter was here for a long layover and she requested for Chinese food, since Lagoon is near the airport and we only had 45 mins to dine. I called in my order ahead and when we arrived we got our food, we were able to eat, pay, pack up & leave within time frame. The waitress was nice & helpful with all our request ( tea, water, bowls, plates, extra chopstick, spoons, & order of 2 rice cake to go) For this visit we got the beef brisket look fun noods, crispy gau gee cake noodle, & the Thursday special of roast duck. We all enjoyed it and so yummy, my daughter sure miss look fun, cake noodle & roast duck. I created my own combo and ate the duck with look fun soup & cake noodle. The duck was crispy and love that they separated gau gee so it won't get soggy, wow, I think this is the first time trying the gau gee and I loved it! Tasty! They do a LOT of takeouts but have tables and chairs for people who prefer to dine in. We were fortunate to find one of the few parking spaces dedicated to the restaurant. My brother loves this place for takeout, especially when he's feeding a large group and wants leftovers. Lesson #1: If my friend/neighbor @Paul C posts repeated visits to a place, and likes it, GO eat there! I think I may have mentioned something to the same effect in the past. Lagoon Chinese Restaurant is located in the airport area, and unfortunately is currently situated in a high construction area. This may or may not be to their benefit--I bet the construction crews have figured out how good their food is, and have given them good business. But it might not be as good for others trying to avoid the headaches. I've only been there a couple of times, but I feel like it's worth it. Located at the front of a small motel or apartment building (I'm not really sure which), Lagoon has a pretty unassuming front, but as soon as you go inside, you'll see that it's a bustling Chinese restaurant. Both times I've been there, they seem to do a much higher takeout business than eat-in, but they do have a clean, brightly lit dining room, too. There are high ceilings and the white walls and ceiling make it feel very cheery. Most importantly, service is efficient, friendly, and the food is tasty and portions are generous. The menu is extensive and you can get all of the regular local Chinese favorites, including a mixed plate. But you can also get less Chinese local favorites such as hamburger steak, hamburgers, bbq chicken burger, and breakfast all day including our favorite Spam! Our last visit took place after we caught an island-hopper plane into HNL, so it was nice to have a convenient place to grab some good dinner, but if you're in the area for whatever reason, I recommend trying Lagoon Chinese Restaurant out. Even if you're not in the area, make a special trip. There is street parking as well as a few spots in the lot. I think the construction has slowed down in that area, as well. read more

Sign says wait to be seated, but they ignore you until you finally have to ask if it's ok to take a table. Take the rail if you can since parking is limited. read more
