They get their extra stars from me for SERVICE. I imagine that working in a storage and moving center could turn someone into a sarcastic and snappy jerk, BUT NO! The staff here are consistently cheerful, helpful, eager and responsive. If they don't really care with sincerity, then they are amazing actors. It sure seems sincere. Really nice crew! (Cherie C's example of getting called about her CDs is very typical of how this group rolls.) They are also surprisingly flexible, trying to work with customers who have special storage or moving needs. (almost said "customers with special needs" but that has a completely different meaning!) As an example, they will discount the cost to rent the Penske trucks for people who rent storage units. They will extend their hours under special circumstances. Joanna C knocked off a point because she can't get to her stuff in the middle of the night. BRAVO LoDo self-storage!! If YOU can get into the place at night when they are closed, then SO CAN THE THIEVES! That's the main problem with 24hour access storage facilities! If you open up your unit, and it's empty or rummaged-through, it likely happened AT NIGHT when there was no one working. So, I wish I could give an EXTRA star for that, Joanna.

Less than 2 months after I began renting I was informed that the price would be raised to $138/month, an increase of 40%. I asked them what could've possibly changed in 6.5 weeks to justify an increase of 40% and they couldn't said that every now a d then they perform a "unit audit" and determined that this is just the price now. Makes me think that $99/month was just a teaser rate to win my business before they jack the price to what they actually want to charge, because how on earth could a $99 rate be fair 2 months ago, but suddenly be so out-of-line that they need a 40% increase. I asked for it to be lowered cause it was in bad taste to refuse to honor their quote in such a short time period. They refused. I left a review here to inform others and suddenly they realized that maybe they shouldn't jack their prices by that much so quickly and returned my rate to $99/month. They asked me to "help them out with some reviews left online." Since they returned my rate I agreed and deleted the review. It's now 5 weeks later and they have once again jacked my rate, this time by a smaller amount, only to $109 (10% increase). A 10% increase is still pretty unreasonable seeing as it's only been just over 3 months since I first became a customer. Given the context they gave me with the "unit audit" to justify their rate increase, the fact that this increase is significantly lower tells me that this time around it wasn't some BS methodology, but a conscious decision to push the price the price closer to what they really want but in a manner someone will grudgingly allow. In other words, their methodology for determining the rate increase isn't actually from a unit audit, but rather is just "whatever this customer will let slide." Poor business practices. Honor your quoted prices. If you want to charge more, quote more. And if you need to increase the rate, think about how reasonable the increase is given the amount of time that has passed.

From September 2015 until June 2019 Jane and Larry ran this storage unit. I have no problem with either of these individuals, however in June of 2019 the storage facility was sold. Larry called me on June 28 2019 to inform me of the sale and when I asked Larry when and if the rates would change he assured me that "they wouldn't change right away". On July 7,2019 I received a letter dated June 30, 2019 that this was my 30 day notice that on August 1, 2019 my rent charge would increase from $130.00 to $150.00. I paid the August rent of $150.00 to give me time to secure another unit. I realized the new owners would have to increase the rent however I felt 15% was more than I thought the unit was worth. Considering the location and overall condition of the facility I knew I could do better. I found another more modern and convenient storage facility for less $$ and informed Larry I wouldn't be renewing for September and mentioned I would move out during the month and would like to keep access to the unit until the end of August to clean it out properly. I moved my property out on August 11, 2019 assuming I could return to sweep out the unit the following Sunday. As an afterthought I should have kept a lock on it. When I returned on August 18, 2019 I was allowed access to the property however my unit was double locked so I had no access to it. Larry was cutting the lawn so I approached him and asked why if I was paying for the month I couldn't get access to my unit to clean it out. It only need the dust swept out. He informed me he swept it out during the week and I shouldn't worry about it. When I inquired about the security deposit he told me I would receive it in about 60 days, as it states in the contract. It was $40.00. I said ok and left the premise. On Monday morning August 19,2019, I received a call from Larry stating I would lose my $40.00 security deposit because they considered me vacating the unit my final day. Larry told me "they are following the letter of the contract" I have a copy of the contract however I didn't read where it said that. I paid $150.00 for 11 days and lost a $40.00 security deposit for having dust on the floor of the unit that would have taken me 15 minutes tops to clean out. So for the money you milked me out of, you should use it wisely. Expect me to tell everyone who askes and all of my friends family and associates about how you thought more of a few dollars than a reputation. I know a lot about business, which is why I didn't squabble about the increase in the rent. I didn't see the value and decided to move on. My right to do so. Your inability to see the value in a phone call to me to clarify my intentions to clean it up will cost much more in PR than $40.00. I did occupy the space for almost 4 complete years. I did pay for the month of August in full and I thought it would be proper protocol to give 30 days notice instead of the 5 days required so you would have time to rent it for September 2019. My U-haul was towed by U-haul when it was under contract, paid in full and parked legally in a private parking lot. A random employee of a neighboring business called and said "The Uhaul seemed sketchy, abandoned and was blocking their entrance" None of this was accurate and the u-haul was towed w/o contacting me or the land ownership. The shopping center was aware that I was using the truck for equipment/signage storage while we were doing some light remodeling. The truck was NOT PACKED for travel and several items were broken and smashed when it got towed. I let the local office know I needed to file a damage claim and am super upset that I spent almost an entire day dealing with this situation and even was charged for the lost day. Some random person should never have the power to call uhaul and have a truck towed w/o contacting the customer first!! Craziest deal ever. Will never recommend or use uhaul again... Now for the good-The employee at storage perfect did his best to talk me off the ledge when i realized uhaul towed my truck and damaged my equipment The GM of the 75th & York location (where the uhaul was towed) was awesome and really helpful in trying to do what he could about the mistake made.
