I highly recommend Lafayette Physical Therapy. From initial contact through receiving services - everyone I've dealt with has been professional, friendly and helpful. It's a convenient location with ample off street parking. The facilities are clean, well lit and comfortable. I have worked with Shawn - who is fantastic. I also had Brenda for a session - also fantastic. Both - really listen and hear what's going on and give great advice. I am a recent cancer survivor trying to deal with major changes to my body after undergoing chemo, radiation and surgery that impacted my pelvis, hips, periformis. On top of this I already had lower back issues and was developing shoulder problems as well. I could not walk 10 minutes on a treadmill without pain. Over the course of the past few months I went from not being able to walk more than 10 minutes at a slow pace on the treadmill without pain to walking 3 miles in a little over an hour without pain. Shawn has helped with my neck issues and my lower back issues by looking at my body as a whole. With some massage, stretching and prescribing exercises he has helped me rebuild strength and balance. read more

This company will not answer their phone. After multiple attempts at trying to make an appointment, I had to physically drive there. When I first had to cancel, they did not explain you had to text. I wasted time trying to call, then I had to drive there again and was late by 15 mins and they charged me $90. They continuously overcharged me for appts and I had to get my insurance company involved to fix it. They are a nightmare with billing. I'm supposedly slated for a refund, will see. Treatment was done over a month ago, so I had to call to see about my credit back for all the overcharged. Makes me wonder if they were just going to keep the money if I hadn't called. I will update once I get my money refunded. Although they are still planning on keeping the late cancellation fee even though they don't answer their phone and don't clearly explain it has to be done via text. read more

She is very focused on you, is knowledgeable, tells you exactly what's she is doing/recommending and why. She helps you understand PT is not a quick process. My therapist is fantastic, but that's as far as it goes. Management is rude, unapproachable, and uncaring. They will not talk to you on the phone. Even for a first appointment you have to communicate only through texts and they make you jump through all kinds of hoops just to get a first appointment. I tried to cancel an appointment well before the 24 hr deadline that I now know they will not bend at all .They informed me that I had to pay $50 because I sent my text to the wrong number. (They have two different numbers). It feels like a mill there with ads all over for extra treatments that are all very expensive. read more

He is absolutely incredible. Things to be aware of...it takes time to get in to see a therapist so be patient. Also, the front desk is extremely busy. I recommend making your appointments while you're there rather than calling later. This place is awful. They billed me (fradulently) an $85 co-pay and my insurance just told me that is ILLEGAL and the max they can charge me according to my plan is $50. They are so greedy! This is for about 15 minutes of actual treament. They should just say they don't take my insurance if they are that tight. Also, you have to be treated in a room full of other people so I was lying on a table on my back while the patient next to me stared at my breasts. I feel totally violated by this place. Treatment was also sub-par. I wouldn't go back if you paid me. read more

Gary and intern Kat were great. Their team concept in assigning challenging exercises was consistent and complemented one another. They helped steer me in the direction of a successful recovery from my hip operation and I felt I made great progress over the course of my 4 week of PT. They were both attentive and before starting each session they wanted to hear how I was doing and whether I had any concerns/comments. I was pleasantly surprised that the facility has electric stimulation machines that can be applied to the scar site for relief post session. All 3 technicians that assisted me with the machines were personable and supportive. Lastly, I would also state that Lauren did a great job following up via email and the gal at the front desk was responsive and helpful in scheduling my appointments and providing emailed billing. I had rotator cuff pain which had significantly limited my activities for months. Physical Therapist Gary Corso took the time and had the expertise to carefully assess the problem and to devise a program which was both effective and realistic for my to execute at home between visits. Manipulations during visits also added significantly to my range of motion. Gary listened carefully to my concerns and was supportive of my efforts. I have nothing but praise for this PT group. I arrived with shoulder problems and left four months later with strengthened, stretched and fully working shoulders. (And I now have a roster of exercises to keep me in shape!) The staff were all extremely competent, knowledgeable and personable. Appointments were made quickly and efficiently, any insurance issues were dealt with by the office staff and there was always plenty of parking! I attended PT during the worst of Covid and the protocols in place at LPT were both sensible and reassuring. First...what I liked about the place is that I worked with the same therapist the entire time. I have had numerous PT sessions at other places and a lot of experiences since I've had two knee surgeries, cervical spine fusion, and two rotator cuff surgeries...along with some lower back PT sessions at various places. Often time I have been in situations where I was handed off to another therapist...or an intern or the like "watching" me do my exercises etc. Julie was my therapist and she was professional, knowledgeable, and most importantly, helped me following knee surgery. I felt she was very in tune to where my recovery was at...pushed me just enough each time that I reached a progressive level with minimal pain. Every person I came in contact with there seemed engaged and caring. Oh...and my surgery was March 22nd...and today I was able to do 95% of my cardio and weight training...without any knee pain...and I workout hard! Highly recommend them for care! read more

I had fantastic care years ago when recovering from rotator cuff surgery. This time my experience was quite negative. Beware their billing practices. They were not up-front with what the fees were going to be and ended up accruing a huge balance due, then blamed my insurance company. In fact, they lied on my first visit, telling me my co-pay would be $25, then the next time I went it was now $85. Despite paying the $85 each time, the accrual grew without my knowledge. They never shared that what they were actually submitting to my insurance was much, much greater. I spoke w/ my insurance company and learned that what they did was very misleading, bordering on fraudulent. They have not been willing to admit to their error in how they handled communication, nor are they willing to settle for my proposed solution of paying as a non-insurance patient. The balance due remains. I'm quite concerned that my credit rating will be impacted. In addition, be sure to ask for your therapist's qualifications. I was assigned to a student intern without my knowledge. Nothing against her but I should have been told and given the opportunity to request a licensed, more experienced therapist. Note that the fees they charged me were the same once the intern left and I was then assigned to an experienced therapist -- in other words, no discount for seeing the intern. I'm sure they weren't paying her as much. I'm quite disappointed in the whole experience because I remember how great this practice was when it was smaller. I will never go back and will spread the word. P.S. On a positive note, the PT assistants were awesome!! read more

I had a partial tear in a rotator cuff tendon - the supraspinatus, if you're curious, and yes I had to look that up. I had been to a sports doctor who planned, and later did, give me an injection to speed up healing. In the workup to the injection and after, he gave me a prescription for physical therapy. Well, let me tell you, it's tough to get scheduled at a physical therapist nowadays. Many people put off elective medical procedures due to Covid, and it seemed like every one of them decided at the same time that now was a great time to revisit all those problems. So it seemed like it took me forever to get an appointment - in fact it was about four weeks. So I finally was able to get in, and was assigned a physical therapist named Gary Corso. In a word, he was FANTASTIC. I really didn't know what to expect, as I'd never had physical therapy before, and I am no spring chicken. Expect to work hard if you get Gary, but you'll be thankful for it. Gary started by redefining the word 'pain' for me. He said what I thought was pain was actually 'discomfort.' You know when they ask how bad the pain is on a scale of one to ten? Well, Gary let me know that until you hit five or six, you're not 'really' feeling pain - it's just discomfort. So needless to say, I had a lot of discomfort at the start, haha. Gary took me along at a pretty good pace, giving me an ever-increasing series of exercises and weight work to rehab my shoulder. I had my first session with him on June 14, and my last will be on August 16. It was Gary's suggestion to end my rehab - there was no trying to keep me hanging on past when he thought he'd done all he can do for me now. I also want to give kudos to two techs who gave me electric stimulation and ice at the end of each session: Dalia and Alessa. After the pain, er, I mean, discomfort of the sessions, they really helped the recovery, and were really fun to talk with. Great gals! Alessa also told me that 'PT' stands for "Pain and Torture!" Ha! Everyone at Lafayette PT was great. They were patient but demanding, pushing me to do what I could to regain function in my arm and shoulder. If you go there, and are lucky enough to get Gary, rest assured that he'll do his best to get you back in shape. He is an excellent PT, and I owe him a lot. The only thing negative about LPT is the accounting group. I'm on Medicare and Blue Cross, and before we pay a bill, we want to see an invoice showing what insurance has paid and how much is still owed, so we can cross-check it with our insurance records. Even though we made that clear, the receptionist (not her fault) asked me to pay an outstanding balance for which we were never billed. Coming in for a session is not the time to do that, particularly when you have never received a bill. Aside from that, though, the service was great. And I am thankful I got Gary - he really helped me when I needed it. read more

the rating is for a management decicion when a mistake was made at the appointment desk which they called a misunderstanding but made me pay for it. when i talked with the receptionists i told them that my insurance will be in effect next week i asked them if i could start a week earlier and pay out of my pocked for the first 2 regular sessions if they would charge the insurance the first session which cost $195 instead of $140 thereafter and i was told it would not be a problem for them to bill the insurance. well never the less i got charged for the $ 195 session and when i told it to the manager owner she said there must have been a misunderstanding but she cannot change anything and i would have to pay because we dont do that and there must have been a misunderstanding and pla pla pla . i said then it was made by the receptionist otherwise i would have waited a week until my insurance would have paid it anyway. well this is not the end of it with your bad customer service that i as a customer whos insurance pays for your service maybe in the thousands of $ will pay for your employees mistake ! how greedy can people get ! which means we can tell the judge to make an unbiased decision who will pay for the " misunderstanding," your greedy company in the wrong or i. i still have some more sessions reserved and will finish them, ernie read more

I worked with Gary for some chronic back pain. It wasn't severe but I have had it since bearing children. I have been to chiropractors, physical therapists, doctors, and so on, with no success. With Gary, he was a pro. He immediately found the area of pain and he helped me manage with strengthening, mobility and stability. I still have a quirky back but I now know what I need to do. When I do my exercises, the pain just about goes away. He's fun to chat with and he knows his stuff. He was never late and he always wanted to help. I had been suffering with vertigo for over seven years. It is difficult to find someone who understands the vestibular system, how to test, and how to rehabilitate. Lauren was amazing. Over a year ago I hurt my left shoulder, my doctor recommended surgery if I did not get better with 6 weeks of therapy. I went to a physical therapist in Walnut Creek, unfortunately no improvements. At the mean time I hurt my right shoulder as well last March. I found me a new doctor, I could not do Surgery do you COVID-19, my life became very difficult. I found Lafayette Physical Thearapy online, I started thearapy with Gary Corso as soon as they opens up again. I am about 70 percent better and no need for surgery thanks to Mr. Corso. They actually get to know the individual and value you as a person and not just a customer. My physical therapists name is Amy. Amy is a rockstar in every sense of the word. She is kind, sincere, warm, funny, helpful, caring, just a wonderful person to have as a physical therapist. She knows her craft well. She has increased the mobility in my arm, after a traumatic bus accident. She has helped me through listening to my pain issues and working to strengthen my muscles. I attended Lafayette Physical Therapy related to lower back pain associated with too much sitting while WFH. My first call to book an appointment for a consultation was an excellent experience. The staff were very knowledgeable about the Insurance coverage for my specific insurance and could tell me exactly what I would have to do-pay. My first consultation with Meghan was also excellent. She was extremely thorough in her tests and all of her questions. By the end of that session she was able to recommend a course of treatment which I embarked on. I visited 2x per week and after the first few weeks noticed an improvement. Meghan was very knowledgeable, would answer any questions I had on the exercises I was assigned, and was careful to make sure I was not overdoing it. All exercises were made available as printouts or online which included little videos of what to do. The facility is well run and the staff is very friendly and polite. They have excellent COVID protocols and I did not feel at risk at any point in time. I am happy to report that I no longer have any lower back discomfort. I should have known when I stepped in and the appointment desk had three people working on setting up appointments that this place was more of a factory treating people as widgets than a place that cared about patients. It became quite apparent to me during my visit, all of maybe 20 minutes spent with a therapist, then off to get my back iced. And the cost was well over $$$ to my health insurance carrier. The therapist was not warm or cordial, treated me she was operating a machine with no personal touch or recommendations. Therapy offered was basic-you can do better on the web. They make you feel better - Gary has expertise and technique in spades and in a couple of visits (and following his instructions for home exercises) I already felt my body improving. 2. I was worry about not being able to walk for my trip at end of August, so I started my physical therapy with Gary in Mid July. It is not easy to walk on cobble stone in Europe but my walking counter told me I was able to walk more then 10,000 steps everyday for two weeks.First I have thank Gary 's two pages home work and mostly he pinpointed my problem.I also had Julie's help while Gary was away.
