I had a CT scan scheduled with BASS Imaging for over a week. When I called, I spoke with a representative named Tanya, and the experience was extremely upsetting. She was impatient, dismissive, and spoke to me with very little patience. Several times while I was trying to explain my situation, she muted me while I was still talking. I have never experienced anything like that before. It made me feel ignored, disrespected, and honestly humiliated. What made the situation even worse was the confusion regarding my insurance. Tanya told me my insurance had not approved the CT scan and that my only options were to cancel my appointment or pay about $1,200 out of pocket. I contacted my insurance company, and they explained that they do work with BASS Imaging. The issue was that they had repeatedly asked BASS for the exact amount needed to approve the scan, but they were unable to get it. When I called BASS again later, another representative gave me completely different information. At that point, I no longer knew who was telling me the truth. I wasn't asking for anything special. I was simply trying to understand the situation and find a solution so I could get an important medical test done. Instead, I felt like I was treated as if I was a burden and that they just wanted to get me off the phone. I truly hope BASS Imaging takes this feedback seriously. Medical situations are stressful enough, and patients deserve to be treated with respect, patience, and compassion. I wouldn't want anyone else to go through the experience I had. Update: Thank you for your response. I would like to clarify one important point. During my call, I asked to speak with a manager because I felt the conversation was going nowhere. Tanya told me there was no manager available and that she was the highest-ranking person there. My concern was never just the insurance issue. It was the way I was treated. If Tanya is indeed the highest-ranking person available to speak with patients, that is even more concerning because someone in that position should set the standard for professionalism, communication, and compassion. It has now been almost a week since this happened, and despite your response here, no manager has contacted me to discuss my experience. You mentioned that I should contact the imaging center and ask to speak with a manager. I already tried to do exactly that during my original phone call, but I was told there was no manager available. I truly hope you review the recorded phone calls. They will clearly show how the conversation was handled. My goal is not to get anyone in trouble. I simply don't want another patient to go through the same experience I had.

But everyone here is just great, they're friendly, professional and courteous, both at the front desk and the staff in back. They have gone out of their way to make the process smooth for me, making me feel as comfortable as possible. Their work is top-notch and have provided my doctors with exactly what they are looking for. Just a quick note... Don't forget to ask for a copy of your imaging on CD before you leave. I had previously made an appointment at a different imaging center and quickly cancelled due to my fear of feeling claustrophobic. I researched open MRI machines and found Medical Insights Diagnostics (Inview Imaging). I scheduled my appointment for a few weeks out and had it today. My appointment was at 10am and I showed up a few minutes prior. I filled out three quick forms and was taken into a changing room where I was able to store my phone, keys, wallet, etc. I was taken into the MRI room and was immediately put at ease with how roomy the open MRI is. I did not have to change into a gown for my scan and I even got to keep my shoes on. I laid down on the table and was given a cushion to go under my legs and two smaller cushions to go next to my head. I was also given ear plugs. I inquired about headphones to listen to music, but because of the scan I was having I was not able to listen to music. Since I was having a brain scan I had to wear a coil over my head, which was comparable to a football helmet. I was handed a "panic ball" that I could squeeze if I needed to be pulled out of the machine and they sent me inside. My scan lasted 20 minutes, but felt much faster. I was able to remain calm the entire time and even opened my eyes a few times. I cannot describe the relief I felt upon finishing my scan and exiting the machine. I grabbed my things, paid, and within 5 minutes I had the CD of the scan. If you have anxiety or claustrophobia I highly recommend coming here for your MRI. The open MRI is spacious and the MRI techs made me feel comfortable. I will be coming back here for any future MRIs.

My arrival time was 8:07am my appointment was 8:10 am . After filling out the paperwork the receptionist informed me that they are running a little behind so I will be waiting like 10 min . I value my time so I set a timer for 15 min thinking I will be called . No call at all after the timer was up I asked the receptionist when will I be called because I have waiting for 15 min . She informed me that she will co tact the doctor. I now have to wait another 10 min . She offered to reschedule me however I am already here. So I am waiting. Still haven't been seen. I have now waited 30 minutes. 8:50 am. 8:54am my husband asked if I was going to be called soon because she we have been waiting for a little over half an hour. I was now called 8:55 am. 8:57 am in changing room. Receptionist name is Britney . Her customer service is great . I AM UPSET ABOUT THE WAIT. 9 am getting prepared. Shivaji. Is the imaging tech. The reason that they were so behind is because they need people to usually come 30 minutes early and I guess that didn't happen so there was a triple effect. This is a great place to come to for imaging great staff so that's a little better. Please come to this place, but make sure you have patience because life happens.

The ultrasound technician was really nice and walked through everything. Once we were done I asked about my results and she said she's not allowed to discuss that which is understandable. Dr. Asandra is the most caring Doctor I have come across. My 82 year old father was scheduled for a…read morekidney biopsy with Dr. Asandra and she called me that morning after reviewing his records and re-scheduled the biopsy for a time when she could biopsy and treat the tumor at the same time. So essentially, the biopsy was safer because she froze the needle tract and tumor at the same time, so there was less chance of the tumor spreading from the hole created by the biopsy. It saved my dad an open surgery where they would cut out half of his kidney. It was the more minimally invasive way to do it. Not all doctors know about this new treatment that requires only a few 5 mm incisions rather than a big open surgery. That could be why it wasn't recommended to begin with. It's more commonly done at academic centers where they are very current with medical advances. It's very common where Dr. Asandra trained at Stanford and still teaches occasionally. This type of treatment may require more than one freeze (kind of like a wart may require more than one freeze). But it's better than a big open surgery! I can't thank her enough because the other way could have made the cancer spread. She thoroughly explained everything, gave me her email address, and made herself available to me in case I had questions or concerns and always replied right away. My father has had a follow up CT scan and everything looks good. She is amazing, well educated, and has high grades on healthgrades.com. I just wish she could be my father's Primary Care Doctor. She is an angel. Healthgrades.com lists her locations as does the johnmuirhealth.com website. With a little searching, you can find her. TWO YEAR FOLLOW UP: My dads tumor appears to be dead. He gets an ultrasound or CT every six months and it has not changed. Dr. Asandra takes the time to go there and review the reports even though she isn't his doctor, then she emails me. Who does that? The person who received my call was very pleasant and nice. I was able to schedule an appointment at my home for the blood draw the following morning. The person who I spoke with, Bernadeth, explained the blood draw procedure and told me she would be at my house at 8 AM the following day The following day I received a text from Bernadeth telling me that she was on her way. Bernadeth arrived at my house a little early and messaged me if it was OK to do the blood draw now. I told her it was fine. I opened the door and was met by Bernadeth who was dressed appropriately and in fresh scrubs. Bernadeth presented me with her business card and politely asked if she could come in. She entered my house and asked me if there was a place I felt comfortable for the blood draw. I directed her to my kitchen. Bernadeth was very professional, put on rubber gloves, laid out a sterile pad on my kitchen table, and explained the procedure to me. Bernadeth found a vein she liked and carefully cleansed the area where the needle was to enter my vein. Bernadeth's skill in placement of the needle was fantastic and I didn't even feel the poke nor any pain at all! After the draw, Bernadeth placed the needle in a sharps container, gathered all the equipment she had used for the blood draw, and put them into a plastic bag. Bernadeth explained the procedure for the results, thanked me, and left my house. I would like to pass on that the level of professionalism, communication, attention to detail, and sanitation and safety practices were greater than I expected. The in-home service was so convenient for me and the cost was extremely fair compared to if I had to travel to a clinic for a blood draw. Nevertheless, I highly recommend Lay Lab for any blood draw procedures you may need!
