Need to get an MRI from them, want the 3T. Only other office with 3T machine is in Oakland. They have the worst reviews about the doctors misreading the MRIs. I hear a a lot of complaints about the staff in WK. I can deal with that. How are the docs?

My answer is probably too late for you, but...had breast MRI at NorCal WC yesterday, experience was good, was actually almost comfortable in that machine lol staff was nice and friendly, had a little trouble starting contrast IV, but that can happen… Read more

That being said, I have to give 5 stars based on the level of care received, wait times aside. I'm pregnant with our third baby now, and I was worried over a scan yesterday. Alex is a lovely technician and I hope I see her again. Dr Won continues to be a ray of light and such a kind, supportive presence. I just adore her. She's an incredible doctor. She spent a lot of time with me yesterday going over what my scan meant. However, I went home and did what you shouldn't: started internet researching what a certain measurement could mean. Today I spoke with Dr Kellert about my concerns and I'm not even sure I have the words to express my gratitude. He took the time to go over each of the measurements, and each of my specific concerns, and gave me his evidence-based reasoning on why he didn't share the concerns. He was realistic about what might still be part of the journey ahead, but he was so warm, reassuring, and validating. Dr Kellert, you meant the world to me today. I hope you know what an excellent doctor you are. Both Dr Won and Dr Kellert make a true difference in life and I appreciate them so much.

While it is rather shocking the amount of appointments we need to make here despite a healthy and thus far smooth pregnancy, this is also our first child so we really don't know any better if the number of scans DVP schedules for us is overkill. What is NOT pleasant about coming to DVP is that despite having an appointment, the typical wait time after arriving on time to be seen is anywhere from 30mins-1hr+! It's absurd that they cram so many people into each time slot and then force everyone to backlog and wait in the waiting room to be called. Additionally, there are NO water stations available and ZERO Wi-Fi to even be able to get some work done while waiting. If you're going to waste people's time in the middle of a workday, at least make the wait more pleasant. Especially for the pregnant ladies! Additionally, we found it strange that they have signs up prohibiting people from taking pictures of THEIR OWN babies on the monitor.

But everyone here is just great, they're friendly, professional and courteous, both at the front desk and the staff in back. They have gone out of their way to make the process smooth for me, making me feel as comfortable as possible. Their work is top-notch and have provided my doctors with exactly what they are looking for. Just a quick note... Don't forget to ask for a copy of your imaging on CD before you leave. I had previously made an appointment at a different imaging center and quickly cancelled due to my fear of feeling claustrophobic. I researched open MRI machines and found Medical Insights Diagnostics (Inview Imaging). I scheduled my appointment for a few weeks out and had it today. My appointment was at 10am and I showed up a few minutes prior. I filled out three quick forms and was taken into a changing room where I was able to store my phone, keys, wallet, etc. I was taken into the MRI room and was immediately put at ease with how roomy the open MRI is. I did not have to change into a gown for my scan and I even got to keep my shoes on. I laid down on the table and was given a cushion to go under my legs and two smaller cushions to go next to my head. I was also given ear plugs. I inquired about headphones to listen to music, but because of the scan I was having I was not able to listen to music. Since I was having a brain scan I had to wear a coil over my head, which was comparable to a football helmet. I was handed a "panic ball" that I could squeeze if I needed to be pulled out of the machine and they sent me inside. My scan lasted 20 minutes, but felt much faster. I was able to remain calm the entire time and even opened my eyes a few times. I cannot describe the relief I felt upon finishing my scan and exiting the machine. I grabbed my things, paid, and within 5 minutes I had the CD of the scan. If you have anxiety or claustrophobia I highly recommend coming here for your MRI. The open MRI is spacious and the MRI techs made me feel comfortable. I will be coming back here for any future MRIs.

Online, I filled out all my info and had hoped I could get the scan in South San Francisco. I hit submit, and got a strange website error. Instead, I sent the same info in an email. On Monday morning, I got a response that the South San Francisco closed during the pandemic. So, only Walnut Creek was available. They had several opening before, but I opted for a few days later when it would be more convenient for me to go to Walnut Creek. The location is a little off the freeway, and an older medical office building. Inside, it's simple but clean. I met the very nice lady that I had been emailing with, waited a few mins, and was seen by the tech for my scan. Easy-peasy. I laid down, and just my head and midway thru my torso into the machine. They took 2 different images, and it took a total of 5 mins (or less). In about a week, I had my results (mailed), and my doc also got them. Amazing technology and report: images, calcium volume score, and really telling and informative stats on your arteries (left main, LAD, LCX, RCA, and other) showing number of lesions, a [Agatson] Calcium score, and a Calcium Volume score. Also, very helpful comments and written analysis. Very good, and helpful, for sure. Insurance doesn't cover this, so it could be $495 out of pocket. My doc gave me a $100 coupon, so that was good. #Recommended

Dr. Asandra is the most caring Doctor I have come across. My 82 year old father was scheduled for a…read morekidney biopsy with Dr. Asandra and she called me that morning after reviewing his records and re-scheduled the biopsy for a time when she could biopsy and treat the tumor at the same time. So essentially, the biopsy was safer because she froze the needle tract and tumor at the same time, so there was less chance of the tumor spreading from the hole created by the biopsy. It saved my dad an open surgery where they would cut out half of his kidney. It was the more minimally invasive way to do it. Not all doctors know about this new treatment that requires only a few 5 mm incisions rather than a big open surgery. That could be why it wasn't recommended to begin with. It's more commonly done at academic centers where they are very current with medical advances. It's very common where Dr. Asandra trained at Stanford and still teaches occasionally. This type of treatment may require more than one freeze (kind of like a wart may require more than one freeze). But it's better than a big open surgery! I can't thank her enough because the other way could have made the cancer spread. She thoroughly explained everything, gave me her email address, and made herself available to me in case I had questions or concerns and always replied right away. My father has had a follow up CT scan and everything looks good. She is amazing, well educated, and has high grades on healthgrades.com. I just wish she could be my father's Primary Care Doctor. She is an angel. Healthgrades.com lists her locations as does the johnmuirhealth.com website. With a little searching, you can find her. TWO YEAR FOLLOW UP: My dads tumor appears to be dead. He gets an ultrasound or CT every six months and it has not changed. Dr. Asandra takes the time to go there and review the reports even though she isn't his doctor, then she emails me. Who does that? As I said, she's an angel!

LABCORP * 1 star. PATRICE ***** 5 stars…read more I wish there were a separate page on which to give a review for a staff person. My two stars are just two of the five and more stars deserved by the hard working, patient staff members working this last Saturday, March 14 morning at this way understaffed location. They deserve five stars for their courage and courtesy. The gentleman at the front desk was, you could sense, way overworked, but holding up well despite all that, and maintaining his courteous, patient self. Thank you, sir! I want to ESPECIALLY commend PATRICE, my technician (I so hope I remembered her name correctly), for her professionalism and her caring interest in her patients. While drawing my blood, Patrice inquired about my amount of daily water intake, I think because my veins are small and difficult to see well. And she proceeded to discuss with me ways to get enough water each day. She was kind, cheerful and interested in me as her patient. This kind of caring is rare. Her draw was also painless. Now back to Labcorp issues. My husband and I have been using this lab for a long time, starting with its location within the hospital building. We have watched it fall off a cliff as the corporation has become way understaffed. Last year, with an appointment, I waited forty five minutes on a Saturday morning for my fasting labs. Yesterday I had a 9:30 a.m. appointment. I got there at 9:15, did my sign in from the car by their new texting sign in system, and got texted right away to come up to the desk inside . My heart rose! The lab lobby was just jammed with patients. My heart sank. But I got called for desk sign in immediately! My heart rose! I did about five more minutes of sign in at the desk, and then got called for my draws within only about five minutes (interestingly, along with several other patients.) My heart sang! I was hopeful! BUT THEN, I waited for a full half hour in the blood draw room. My heart and my hopes for a Labcorp revival plummeted! My husband had a 9:35 a.m. appointment, and waited in total, about 40 minutes to get tested. It would appear that Labcorp is trying to streamline patient processing time by putting in new, automated patient sign in methods, and perhaps changing their patient call in process (8 patients called in at once?) But without enough staff it's pretty useless, besides adding to our overly robotic life experience. There have been many signs of employee burnout over the past year or two at the desk, as well. I truly feel for anyone trying to work for Labcorp these days. One would think that somehow Labcorp could lower their profit goals just enough to provide the kind of quality service that people need. John Muir, WHERE ARE YOU in this matter that is affecting so many lives? We at least need other lab company options. Has Labcorp become a monopoly? We are genuinely puzzled. But again, PATRICE, YOU ARE AN ANGEL! YOU ARE THE ORIGINAL REASON FOR MY WANTING TO WRITE A REVIEW! I hope you can see it through to where Labcorp and John Muir get their act together and can once again provide good service and a really good work experience to worthy employees like you! Thank you for being there!

Whenever she is the one helping me, the experience is always a positive one. Whether she is drawing my blood or handling my paperwork, she is consistently kind, patient, professional, and excellent at what she does. She always handles everything with so much care and understanding, and it truly makes a difference.
