How do I go about scheduling an appt. for a mammogram?

I had previously made an appointment at a different imaging center and quickly cancelled due to my fear of feeling claustrophobic. I researched open MRI machines and found Medical Insights Diagnostics (Inview Imaging). I scheduled my appointment for a few weeks out and had it today. My appointment was at 10am and I showed up a few minutes prior. I filled out three quick forms and was taken into a changing room where I was able to store my phone, keys, wallet, etc. I was taken into the MRI room and was immediately put at ease with how roomy the open MRI is. I did not have to change into a gown for my scan and I even got to keep my shoes on. I laid down on the table and was given a cushion to go under my legs and two smaller cushions to go next to my head. I was also given ear plugs. I inquired about headphones to listen to music, but because of the scan I was having I was not able to listen to music. Since I was having a brain scan I had to wear a coil over my head, which was comparable to a football helmet. I was handed a "panic ball" that I could squeeze if I needed to be pulled out of the machine and they sent me inside. My scan lasted 20 minutes, but felt much faster. I was able to remain calm the entire time and even opened my eyes a few times. I cannot describe the relief I felt upon finishing my scan and exiting the machine. I grabbed my things, paid, and within 5 minutes I had the CD of the scan. If you have anxiety or claustrophobia I highly recommend coming here for your MRI. The open MRI is spacious and the MRI techs made me feel comfortable. I will be coming back here for any future MRIs.

I had a positive experience in June, which is why I asked my PCP to place the order there when BASS Imaging told me they don't do MRAs. I didn't have to wait long for my MRI and the tech (sorry, I don't remember her name but it was Indian) was friendly. When I called to schedule last Wednesday, I was able to get an appointment in five days. This morning, I woke up to a voice message from Bayside Imaging saying that they need to cancel my appointment because they don't do MRAs. WHAT? They should have told me when I called to schedule the exam that they don't do it, not AFTER they scheduled! It's the scheduler's responsibility to know what exams they do and don't do. If she wasn't sure, she should have said, "I'm not sure we do MRAs, let me find out and call you back". Appointments shouldn't be cancelled by a practice other than unforeseen circumstances. The scheduling staff needs better training so they don't schedule patients they have to cancel later. Scheduling errors on the part of the practice is NOT an "unforeseen circumstance" per the quotation below. "Poor planning on your part doesn't constitute as an emergency on my part". When I spoke to the receptionist, she was apologetic and tried to see if any other Bayside locations do MRAs. She said they don't so I told her the website needs to be updated. Their website said they do MRAs, which is one reason I asked my doctor to place the order after BASS said they don't do them. It's bad business practice for a company to say they offer services that they actually don't. As others stated, I sometimes had to leave voice messages DURING BUSINESS HOURS that weren't returned. Though I was able to reach someone when I called after leaving messages, there's no reason I shouldn't be able to speak to someone or not get my call retuned during business hours. Bayside needs to hire more people because they are clearly understaffed if messages aren't returned in a timely manner. This review should be 2-2.5 stars but I'm rounding up because of the friendly staff and ability to get sooner appointments compared to John Muir. Next time I need an imaging test, I would call Bayside Imaging BEFORE asking my doctor to place the order to avoid the above situation from happening. I want to give them another chance but I don't want to delay care due to scheduling errors that are the fault of the practice.

So essentially, the biopsy was safer because she froze the needle tract and tumor at the same time, so there was less chance of the tumor spreading from the hole created by the biopsy. It saved my dad an open surgery where they would cut out half of his kidney. It was the more minimally invasive way to do it. Not all doctors know about this new treatment that requires only a few 5 mm incisions rather than a big open surgery. That could be why it wasn't recommended to begin with. It's more commonly done at academic centers where they are very current with medical advances. It's very common where Dr. Asandra trained at Stanford and still teaches occasionally. This type of treatment may require more than one freeze (kind of like a wart may require more than one freeze). But it's better than a big open surgery! I can't thank her enough because the other way could have made the cancer spread. She thoroughly explained everything, gave me her email address, and made herself available to me in case I had questions or concerns and always replied right away. My father has had a follow up CT scan and everything looks good. She is amazing, well educated, and has high grades on healthgrades.com. I just wish she could be my father's Primary Care Doctor. She is an angel. Healthgrades.com lists her locations as does the johnmuirhealth.com website. With a little searching, you can find her. TWO YEAR FOLLOW UP: My dads tumor appears to be dead. He gets an ultrasound or CT every six months and it has not changed. Dr. Asandra takes the time to go there and review the reports even though she isn't his doctor, then she emails me. Who does that? As I said, she's an angel!

Yes, the wait times can sometimes be long but that's because this is a high-volume unit that cares for patients with a wide variety of needs and complications. Despite how busy they are, every single staff member is kind, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring. They never make you feel rushed, and the doctors in particular go above and beyond. When they come in, they take the time to answer every question and make sure you feel heard and supported. For those leaving negative reviews about ultrasound pictures, it's important to remember that these are screening appointments, and the main goal is to ensure the health and development of your baby, not to capture the perfect photo. If you want keepsake images and a more "experience-based" session, there are many elective ultrasound studios you can visit. For example, I went to Sweet 3D Baby, spent under $100, and came away with over 20 pictures and videos. This team works incredibly hard under challenging circumstances and still provides exceptional care. In my opinion, they deserve nothing less than 5 stars.

While it is rather shocking the amount of appointments we need to make here despite a healthy and thus far smooth pregnancy, this is also our first child so we really don't know any better if the number of scans DVP schedules for us is overkill. What is NOT pleasant about coming to DVP is that despite having an appointment, the typical wait time after arriving on time to be seen is anywhere from 30mins-1hr+! It's absurd that they cram so many people into each time slot and then force everyone to backlog and wait in the waiting room to be called. Additionally, there are NO water stations available and ZERO Wi-Fi to even be able to get some work done while waiting. If you're going to waste people's time in the middle of a workday, at least make the wait more pleasant. Especially for the pregnant ladies! Additionally, we found it strange that they have signs up prohibiting people from taking pictures of THEIR OWN babies on the monitor.
