I wrote a 5-star review after a few weeks of PT at Pacer Physical Therapy, and now I am writing one after "graduation" (i.e., following 3+ months of Pacer PT). I am now 5 months post-full knee replacement. This review will be as superlative as the first one! My therapist was Danny, the owner; he was very disciplined about making sure that I could reach full extension and flexion and emphasized the need to continue to work on this even after achieving the goals in this arena. This was only one aspect of his work. I am very comfortable with a full range of activities at this stage, and continue to be grateful for the work of Danny and his assistants. Thank you very much to Pacer PT, and also for the friendly and efficient work of the administrative staff! read more

I wish I could give 10 stars. The staff of Pacer Physical Therapy is excellent. Everyone I dealt with was kind and helpful. Austin (PT) and his assistants were fantastic. His in depth knowledge and physical therapy treatments have been a great help to me, and he's a real nice person as well. I definitely recommend Pacer Physical Therapy. read more

Great staff all the way around very grateful to go there and work on my shoulder. Kudos to the staff.

Pacer Physical Therapy is the best place ever if you need PT services! Everyone is so friendly from all of the support staff and Physical Therapists! I had an Achilles Tear and they got me up and running in record time. I am a Crossfitter so getting my strength and flexibility back was crucial for me to competing again. I would not be where I was at without their help. Big thanks to Allison Snyder for being the best PT ever! I will surely miss her!! I cannot recommend this place any higher! They were truly awesome!! read more

Pacer Physical Therapy - Physical Therapy Near Me - Walnut Creek, California

I came to Pacer 3 months after a Spinal Decompression and Lumbar Fusion. Danny and his team are very knowledgeable. In just a few weeks I have had great improvement in strength. I feel like I'm able to resume activities I did before my injury, I never thought I would be able to return to an active life again but with such great care and treatment I feel like I've gotten my life back Thank you, The office staff are amazing as well!!!! read more

Have nothing but good things to say about Pacer PT. They were responsive, flexible with scheduling, and helpful in explaining the trauma you've experienced as well as the healing process. The only senior therapist I've experienced there has been Austin, who is an all around great guy who knows his subject matter. He always has a story to tell you, or a willing ear to listen to your complaints about whatever. Honestly, the most important thing has been telling me despite the pain, the up days & down days routine, I'm still on tract with noticeable improvement over time. That is something that can be hard see when it's your injury. read more

I just completed two months of physical therapy required by a hip-replacement surgery. Fortunately, I scheduled my rehab at Pacer PT in Walnut Creek. Luckily, my small team of therapists was headed by Austin and two of his assistants Mark and Kat. The most refreshing aspects of my rehabilitation was the positive, attentive and patient attitudes these three professionals bring to their chosen career every day. They treated me with the knowledge of their skills in what quickly developed into a very friendly atmosphere. The one on one experiences kept me motivated to complete Austin's specified regimen. I entered the facility shakily with a cane and left with approximately 90% mobility towards my expected 100% recovery over the next few months. Mark R. read more

Thank you, Austin, Lorenzo and Kat! I came to Pacer Physical Therapy after rupturing my left Achilles tendon. I'm a Jiu-Jitsu / Muay Thai athlete and I truly thought my career was done. I was extremely upset and down in the dumps upon arriving at Pacer PT. Austin and his team quickly changed my attitude with their positivity, patience, and expertise. I could tell Austin and the team truly cared about my injury and my goals to return to sport. I had surgery on June 8th for my ruptured Achilles and began working with Austin in early July. Austin and his team's progressive overload workouts had me getting gradually stronger which was very exciting to see. Austin gave me access to a user-friendly app that allowed me to access the workouts and train at home. By September, I was strong enough to hit pads and start boxing again. By November, Austin cleared me to begin a running program. At this point, I felt like I was close to 80%. The mental barrier of rupturing my Achilles had gone at this point. I think a large part of that was due to completing Austin's workouts which gave me total confidence in my strength and ability. By January (8 months post-surgery), I was kicking the pads and returning to sparring. At this point, I felt about 90% and had very little limitation while training. I saw Austin and team each week for approximately 24 appointments. The front desk was very helpful in helping me schedule/cancel appointments throughout the 8 months I was there. My sincerest gratitude for everyone's time and knowledge. It was truly a pleasure to work with you all! Best, Jesse read more

Second time working with them (and I've been to a lot of PT places). Each person here customizes your routine, not just to your injury or surgery, but to your personal needs. I wanted to go back to doing Jazzercise after a total knee - they got me there with a customized program that included a lot of things I had never experienced - fun and challenging. They are very caring, listen carefully to you and support you throughout your healing. I had Kelly this time and she was amazing. It made it much more fun (and anyone going through this knows that much of it is not fun). The assistants really step up and you can opt for STEM and ice after, which leaves you ready to go. I highly recommend this facility. read more

Pacer physical therapy is what I would imagine to be the utmost, the top of the line for rehabilitation. I went in after a hip replacement and a negative experience at another "mill"-type clinic. I was quickly welcomed, expertly assessed, and started on a highly individualized program which exactly addressed my deficits and concerns. After only a week, I was seeing serious improvement in my strength, flexibility, and pain scores. I am now completely recovered, and I owe a great deal of this to pacer physical therapy. I found that everyone I worked with there had the same degree of knowledge and professionalism that you would hope for when you're seeing someone for the care of your body. I highly recommend pacer without any reservations whatsoever. Go to see them first, and avoid the injury that brought me to them. The best of luck to all. read more

It's my first review of the journey I had after my stress fracture in the right knee back in 2020. I thought it would be the minimum thing to write an honest review for Danny and the center and his team (at walnut creek). I worked with him for more than a year. He is sharp, attentive, kind, knowledgable and very passionate. I think anyone after a visit would see that in him. He cares about every details of your movement while doing the exercises. He personalizes every exercise for you, sets your exceptions and compares YOUR achievements with yourself. He is super positive and always makes you feel better. During my injury, there were many times I felt frustrated with my healing, but he, with his positivity, motivated me to take another step and move forward. He is fully prepared at each appointment. I think a caring PT should be like this. The wide range of exercises and practices that I have is all because of his many years of experience. Each of these exercises could have 3-4 similar options in case you need more, or in case you don't feel like to do one of them. I absolutely recommend him to anyone. In fact I did recommend him to my husband and he is a big fan of him too. The staff are very nice and considerate about finances, insurance and any other issues you could potentially have. They check your network, they manage the extra sessions to be authorized with my insurance, to make sure I don't pay more than necessary. If I could give them more stars, I would; simply they are the best in the city and I highly recommend them. read more

If you've had the unfortunate reason to need physical therapy, I cannot recommend Pacer Physical Therapy enough. All four members in my family, including me twice have needed physical therapy and I find them absolutely amazing. They are patient and really listen to your needs. The facility is clean and they are on top of cleaning after every use and their transition is top notch! Kudos to all from the front staff, aides to Tania and Danny. If possible, I'd give them a higher star rating - they are that good! read more

Kellie is wonderful and she helped my knees so much. There was a lot of communication and she answered all my questions. My knees feel so much better. It was easy to make appointments and the staff were so helpful when I called. read more

My TKR recovery was excellent as a result of the expert and knowledgeable staff at Pacer in Walnut Creek. Austen Kramer and the supporting staff created an environment where I could reach attainable goals. Their friendly and professional attitude created a place that was welcoming rather than intimidating. The facility was kept spotlessly clean at all times. After using other similar facilities in the area I can thoroughly recommend Pacer as being the best in class. read more

I was referred to Pacer by my surgeon after a torn meniscus procedure. From the moment I called, to my final visit 8 weeks later, everything was absolutely outstanding! They were very helpful in scheduling and getting me in within a week. I worked with Tania, Kelly, and Lorenzo. All three are amazing. I have been to other PT places and would never go anywhere again but Pacer. Friendly, professional, and gets results. I'm back to my normal 5 day a week routine at the gym thanks to them! + read more

Austin, Kelly, and the team helped me a lot in rehabbing a torn hip labrum. They are very professional, knowledgeable, and personable. I can't recommend them highly enough! read more

I have just completed my office PT sessions with Pacer, and I was VERY satisfied with the treatment I received from Austin, and the office's other PT associates for my total knee replacement (TKA). I had previously used Pacer for PT for my shoulder surgery the prior year, and found that they were more attentive to my PT exercises than another physical therapy office in the Walnut Creek area that I used prior, in my effort to avoid inevitable shoulder surgery. After my shoulder surgery I switched to Pacer PT for therapy and I had an excellent outcome. Austin was very attentive to my progress after the knee surgery, and provided printed exercises to perform at home to accelerate my progress. I also appreciated Austin's positive energy and encouragement, which was helpful when I was getting discouraged. (Both Austin and my surgeon's office advised me that I was actually making good progress, and that full recovery for TKA takes time, much more than shoulder surgery. Pacer PT is a smaller office than my other prior PT, and I found that I got more individualized attention from their staff, especially Austin. read more

What can I say ! Tania is the best !!! I've been going to her for almost 4 years and she always make the unpleasant experience of physical therapy so much fun. Going to pacer has been a life saver for me Thank you Tania and all the staff ! read more

Cancelled my appointment as I stood there in person, had me go home, in pain, then had the nerve to charge me for an appointment. (Over a hundred dollars!) I don't respect places that value money over my physical well being. Do not support this business. read more

I was referred here from Dr Shah upstairs and overall was impressed by the level of care. I've done other PT in the past and often it feels just like going through the motions. Not at Pacer. The library of exercises is just a starting point. Austin and the team took my feedback about things I was experiencing during the course of therapy and were able to make adjustments to more directly target sources of the issues I was experiencing. Big improvements in a short amount of time. Would recommend to others. read more

PACER Walnut Creek is wonderful! Everyone from the front desk to therapists to owners are welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable, professional and on time. Austin (awesome therapist) introduced me to many exercises new to me that have already improved my strength and balance after only a short series of visits. Thank you Austin and PACER Walnut Creek. read more

I have been working with Austin on rehabbing a couple injuries this year. Both he and the PT assistants have been great. The assessment is spot on and the exercises are tailored to improving function and lowering pain. Highly recommend. read more

I have been to Pacer for multiple injuries...knee & back... and found EXCELLENT care. I have worked with several PT's there and Danny has also helped me. The environment is professional yet personal. They are extremely knowledgeable. Now my 17 year old daughter needs PT and I am going to take her to Pacer because I know she'll get the treatment she needs! read more

Very organized and clean place . This place is always busy and packed but they transitions their patients well. Downside is that the physical therapists only work on you for a certain amount of time ( very short , 10-15 mins? Tops I forgot ) . Wished they gave more hands on therapy and pt-patient time . I had Dru as my physical therapist. She was super nice and friendly . I came in for post op meniscus repair to strengthen everything . She always told me it's always the quads for strength and balance when it comes to strengthening the knee / legs so we did a lot of quad work outs like squats . I learned a lot of exercises from her. Like I mentioned, this place only allowed certain amount of PT- patient time so she worked on me for a short amount of time only . The program itself was 4 stars . You start off with the PT working on you . Then after 10-15 mins you spend the rest of 30-40 mins exercising with the assistant's guidance and help. Of course the assistant is knowledgeable because they are trained by the PT but still! My assistant was hella cool and super nice :) read more

I used Pacer after surgery to repair my peroneal tendon (ankle). I worked primarily with Austin who was incredible - super knowledgeable and friendly, and gave me new and challenging ways to strengthen and improve balance. I also worked with Lorenzo who was equally awesome. All the staff were very friendly , accommodating and encouraging! The facility is very well equipped and modern - I would definitely go back! read more

I am grateful to be writing this review having successfully recovered from a sesamoid fracture / sesamoiditis injury. I worked with Kellie who struck me as a really sharp therapist - so knowledgeable and keen on her subject. She immediately made it clear she considers the body as a whole, rather than just the body part that happens to be injured. She engages with each patient with curiosity and a passion to get you back on your feet as soon as possible. She gave me a few key exercises to practice at home and I rapidly improved. I was walking normally again in 5 weeks, as predicted! The staff was aware and considerate about finances. They asked me twice if I was aware they were out of my network, so I wouldn't pay more than necessary. And they let me know when I was ready to graduate, so I did not go to any more sessions than necessary. It felt miraculous to see so much healing in such a short period of time. They are an all-star, honest and competent practice. I highly recommend them! read more

I received excellent physical therapy at Pacer. After a thorough assessment, Austin not only walked me through and demonstrated each exercise; he also explained how each exercise would help me reach my goals. The entire staff is very supportive and encouraging. They have a terrific welcoming culture that inspires outstanding results! I actually reached me goals two session earlier than planned. I am so happy to have full function of my foot and leg back. Thank you Austin, Masood and Team Pacer! read more

Full knee replacement, 79 years old, and so happy I can't even begin to tell you! My therapist Austin directed a marvelous 3 month return to complete normalcy. His ability to communicate instructions in a compassionate manner, to read the extents of my personal limits, and ultimately send me on to a life with a new knee are to be commended. He pushed when necessary but in way that made me want to raise my game. not discourage and very much inspired me to try harder. The facility is squeaky clean and being constantly wiped down for germs, etc.. They all remembered my name from day one, were comfortable with seniors, had a great sense of humor, and were always punctual. I cannot speak too highly of this fine establishment. read more

I've had a super positive experience at Pacer, I went for support healing after a back injury. This is the third PT I tried and the intimate setting was a huge improvement compared to other big facilities, where I felt like the staff was inattentive and didn't take time to understand my unique pain / healing needs. Would recommend. (Danny at Pacer is the best!) read more

Austin did a terrific job with my knee and shoulder! In addition to addressing my immediate knee and shoulder issues, he also provided many helpful suggestions on alleviating nerve and back pains, as well as walking tips to eliminate my limping. I greatly appreciate my time with Austin and am very happy to know where to go for future help! read more

I have been a patient of Pacer PT off on and off for several years at either their Walnut Creek or San Ramon locations. I have recently had to start back up due to some knee issues and they're still amazing as ever. From the owners to the therapists and aides to the front and back office staff. Everyone is so nice and helpful. The owners and therapists are highly educated and talented. If I could give 10 stars I would! read more

Fantastic place for physical therapy! Austin was extremely knowledgeable and got me back to high-impact skiing. I have torn my ACL, meniscus, and had cervical surgery in the past. I have been to five different physical therapists in the bay area and highly recommend Pacer Physical Therapy. Individualized sessions with great adjustments along the way. I am a physician at a local hospital and will be happily sending my referrals to Pacer moving forward. read more

Following lumbar surgery four years earlier, nerve damaged caused severe muscle atrophy in my right calf. Complications from recent revision surgery resulted in an extended hospital stay and on discharge, my right leg was very weak. Several falls later (with one fractured my wrist!), I began my physical therapy at Pacer Physical Therapy in Walnut Creek, which I just completed! I can't thank Tanya and her team enough for my substantial mobility improvement. Beginning with core strengthening, my program continued to progress to leg muscle development, balance, and ultimately upper body strength. Tanya was my cheerleader, gently pushing and encouraging me along the way. Having had physical therapy in the past, I haven't been this strong in four years. I highly recommend them! read more

Nothing but positive things to say about the staff and assistants @ Pacer. Had a chance to work with Austin for the last several months to address a persistent knee problem. He ensured I was progressing based on my knee's response and kept things challenging, which should position me well to get back to running again without pain. read more

My 13 year old son was recovering from a tibial tubercle fracture and doing basic physical therapy elsewhere following surgery. However, he needed something more intense in order to get back to basketball pain-free. That's when we switched to Pacer, and he began seeing Kellie twice a week. The results were amazing. She pushed him to his limit each week with strength training, flexibility, and even plyometrics. About two months later, he was back on the basketball court, feeling stronger than he had before his injury. In addition to the excellent training provided by Kellie, the office staff was always pleasant and accommodating. I highly recommend Pacer! read more

wow the receptionist who answer the phone was clearly not happy to help. she acted like these place is a 5 start Hilton rehab place and so snobby when i told her i have 2 insurance. she was not helpful with my questions and was in a hurry. i never reviewed a place based on the receptionist but this lady was beyond rude. i found better reviewed and recommended therapy place. best of luck to this company. read more

I have gone to Pacer for two separate issues, the first addressing the neck and the second addressing the lower spine. Both series solved the problems. Austin is great and I particularly like the fact that Pacer uses the Med-Bridge Exercise App. which makes it a lot easier to keep up with the daily routine. read more

A plus experience at Pacer Physical Therapy in Walnut Creek! Austin Kramer, DPT was my physical therapist. He spent time with me at every session, unlike other places where the PT meets you only on the first and last day of treatment, and an assistant runs the sessions. Results tell the story, and I am more than 90percent better. The facility is very clean and they take steps to sanitize between patients. The receptionist is always friendly, efficient, and greeted me by name. Gus usually assisted Austin, and did a great job. The space is light and bright with large windows all along one wall, making for a pleasant environment. The vibe is very positive, and there is even a whiteboard with an inspirational saying of the day. Thanks for fixing me! read more

Pros: Generally, the experience is decent. The facilities are organized and clean, and the staff is generally friendly. However, in terms of actual treatment, staff competency, and value, Pacer physical therapy leaves a lot to be desired. In my experience the PT team constantly misses the mark when it comes to diagnosing injury, and the prescribed treatments have been disappointingly ineffective. After a few sessions my therapist eventually gave up on one approach we were trying and gave me a new diagnosis: when I told my orthopedist about this, he literally responded by laughing and telling me to "hold off on going back to Pacer". Also, perhaps because they are understaffed, therapists tends to be neglectful as well; patients are often left alone for stretches at a time during appointments instead of working closely and interacting, as one would hope from someone in charge of your recovery and well-being. Given how expensive these treatments are, I would honestly recommend a separate clinic for physical therapy if you want results unless you have no other options. read more
