The apps included: chickpea fries, Caesar salad, spicy tuna crispy rice, French onion soup, and jumbo shrimp cocktail. Entrees included: tavern burger, Monterey chicken club, cobb salad, fish & chips, roasted cauliflower 'steak', and lobster roll (either cold or warm). I went with the chickpea fries, which were very crispy on the outside and extremely creamy on the inside. It is coated in a layer of chickpea powder and then fried. It was very interesting and i'd order this again. It paired well with the harissa aioli. For my entrée, I got the beer-battered fish and chips. My fries were much thicker than everyone else's, and they also came with potato chips that tasted oily. I didn't love the fish and chips and wouldn't order this again, but my friends enjoyed their burgers, shrimp cocktail, French onion soup, and roasted cauliflower steak. Service was good. The wait staff checked on us many times to make sure everyone got their food and that our water cups were full. The outside of Mirabelle is beautiful, and we saw it being set up for a baby shower. Near the bar, there is a sticker machine that takes quarters and offers stickers featuring the Inn, espresso martinis, dirty martinis, and a burger.

Upon first sight, you'd think it's a hole in the wall as it's a building in the middle of a big parking lot. But don't let that fool you. As soon as you walk through the front double doors, it's beautiful with dark woods, lots of tables with a long bar, reminiscentof a Steakhouse. A fireplace and art line the walls. It's really beautiful. The menu isn't huge, but everything sounds delectable. I had escargot with bread to sop up the delicious liquid. I also had the za'atar asparagus. I could have eaten multiple plates of it. I wasn't into eating a heavy meal, but everything looked good. I really wanted the wedge salad, but due to recalls, i didn't feel right having lettuce that i didn't grow myself. One friend got the beef burgignon which she loved. My other friend got the croque monsieur. For dessert, we split a chocolate mousse. All delightful. Our waiter, Anakin, yes, Anakin, was really sweet. We were checked on multiple times, but not too much to be annoying. As this was a special night as 3 college friends with birthdays in the same week get together every year, they did not rush us at all. We were there for almost 4 hours without a problem. Everything was great. Pricey, but if you don't treat yourself well, who will?

My biggest issue was the $33 Moules Au Pernod. The shells were normal size, but the mussels inside were tiny. For a restaurant at this price point, I would expect much better quality. It seemed like the restaurant either received a poor-quality batch or chose to serve undersized mussels that should have been noticed before reaching customers. The food was enjoyable, but the portion sizes and quality of the mussels didn't justify the premium prices. With better value and more attention to ingredient quality, my rating would have been higher.

Oh, plenty. Their Mussels Provençale, swimming in a garlic-infused basil and tomato broth. And then there's the classic Salade Frisée aux Lardons, crispy chunks of bacon, topped with a soft-boiled egg. An upscale French restaurant that apparently doesn't know its own wine? We went to Voila in St…read more James looking for a special-occasion dinner and never got far enough to try the food. Voila needs to do much better for my business. First, the wine list. Most of the wines available by the glass that I checked were inexpensive, poorly rated bottles. They were the sort of wines I would never expect to see featured at an upscale French restaurant, and being offered at prices I thought were wildly disproportionate to what was being poured. I finally found a rosé that I couldn't find much information about, so I asked our server a very basic question: "Who is the producer?" His first response was that the wine didn't have a vintage. Okay. That wasn't what I asked. I asked again: Who makes the wine? His next response was that it was French. Yes. I understood that. Who makes it? What is the vineyard or producer? After this increasingly bizarre exchange, he became visibly annoyed with me and told me. He took on an attitude suggesting I was somehow out of line for continuing to ask, and answered that it was from Provence. "I KNOW IT'S FROM PROVENCE," I responded. I wasn't asking for its country. I wasn't asking for its region. I wasn't asking for its vintage. I was asking a very simple question for an upscale French restaurant: Who produced the wine? This time he shot back, "I don't know," in a tone that suggested the problem was not his inability to answer the question, but my having the audacity to ask it. And here's the thing: not knowing would have been completely fine. I was there for a nice dinner, not an argument with a server. He could simply have said: "I'm not sure who the producer is. Let me find out for you." End of story. Completely acceptable. What isn't acceptable is an experienced server in an upscale French restaurant becoming irritated with a customer for asking a perfectly ordinary question about the wine being served. At that point, I was done. We stood up and left. I have no idea whether Voila's food is good. But after looking at the wine list and having this exchange, I had very little confidence that spending considerable money there was going to produce the kind of special evening we were looking for. If the restaurant knows as little about food as it does about the wine, I would not anticipate a good experience. So congratulations to Voila of St. James, recipient of my August 2026 Vin Ignoramus of the Month Award for exceptional achievement in answering the question "Who makes this wine?" with everything except the name of the person who makes the wine. My recommendation: Avoid this place.
