Have been to this place a few times and I really like it! The steak tartare is absolutely amazing, and so are their fries! Other items in the menu I have liked- oysters, mini croque madames, white whine mussels and filet of sole. The seafood salad and scallops were good, but nothing to write home about. Searched specifically for a French restaurant per my daughter's request for her birthday. LB Bistro popped up and seemed promising. Her absolute favorite food is duck and when we called, they said they'd be able to accommodate her food allergies. Not knowing the area, parking was abundant for our 5:30 pm Saturday reservation. There are some lots in the median of the street as well as street parking. The restaurant dining area itself is small and reminds me of a place we'd eat in Paris size wise. Plus it was decorated so well. First impressions were great. We were seated quickly. Tempo of service was on point and our server was so friendly. I'm sorry I didn't catch her name. They were very gracious with my daughter's allergies and confident in handling them. My daughter didn't have a single issue with her modified duck dish and I noticed they had the sauces on the side like we'd requested (many restaurants ignore this request even though they say they will do it). Cocktails were good. My little one didn't complain about his lemonade so it must've been sweet enough. My daughter loved her Shirley temples. My son was iffy about his NY strip steak. I think he likes a more butter forward flavor whereas his steak had a smoky one. My husband and I opted to order several small dishes. We had the clams, foie gras, scallops appetizer, steak tartare, bone marrow, and macaroni au gratin. I just remembered we also ordered the crab beignets but it didn't come out and we completely forgot about it. Oh well. Food was great. I love steak tartare, I ate my weight in it when we were in Paris, so I was happy to see it on the menu. It came with the airiest potato crisps that gave it the perfect crunch. My absolute favorite was the foie gras. I thought it was a generous piece for $26 and it was cooked perfectly with the cherries, pistachio cream, and puff pastry. Clams were cold and fresh. Scallops were good, just a touch too salty for me. Husband loved the macaroni. We were both underwhelmed with the beef marrow. We don't have it often so maybe we're just not beef marrow people. It tasted fine; it just didn't excite us. Husband inhaled his banana pudding. My crème brûlée was nice - nothing new or different. We asked if there was any chance that they had sorbet even though it wasn't on the menu. Our server was kind enough to check and it so happened they had raspberry and lemon. My daughter ordered raspberry and it was brought out with a lit birthday candle. Such a thoughtful touch. I'd go back in a heartbeat! Tasted as good as some of our favorite restaurants in Paris. When we left, the front area with the high tops and bar was packed. I'm not sure if everyone was waiting for a table or just mingling at the bar. New since May and what a wonderful addition to Long Beach. LB Bistro is the French sister restaurant of LB Social which we love. We called around 6:30pm for a reservation and luckily they were able to fit us in for a 8pm. It was full and you can tell that the restaurant is very popular as soon as you walk in. The staff was really nice and all working very hard-no downtime at all as they are always ready to ask us if we need anything or to take away any empty plates. The interior of the restaurant is very bistro-esque. Warm and cozy. We ordered the escargot for appetizers. So tasty and great for dipping your toasted bread. For entrees we have ordered the special scallops with gnocchi. The dish was so tasty. Loved the corn. The gnocchi was a little too soft for my preference. Didn't have the texture that I normally love in gnocchi. Almost too mushy. We also offered the fluke with asparagus. For dessert, creme brûlée was a winner. This restaurant is definitely a winner and can't wait to come back. read more

We were both very pleased with our meal which compared favorably with top bistros we've eaten at over the years in the city (including Anthony Bourdain's Les Halles). I had the Beef Bourguignon and my wife had French Onion Stuffed Chicken. Both were excellent. The Mussels Mariniere were very good as well. Portions were very generous. The wine list, while not extensive, was more than adequate, with some decent French selections. We went with the Beaujolais. The dessert selection is classic bistro fare. Service was okay as was the ambiance, but it's the food that's the star here. read more

The beef Bourguignon was excellent, with tender beef and rich layered flavors! My friend had the monkfish -which was also excellent and another had the LB Bistro Burger which also did not disappoint! We started with a dozen briny oysters, and the delicious beet salad-both fresh and not to be missed! The French Kiss cocktail was perfectly balanced and they offered a nice selection of wine. Went for dinner on a Thursday. The food and drinks were great! We had the French onion stuffed chicken and we will definitely be coming back for it! The croque monsieur was delicious. Very nice renovation and ambiance but we hate the noise level. Service was excellent. The food overall was excellent except for the overly sweet sauces. The foie gras would have been out of this world if it hadn't been drowned in an overly sweet sauce. Likewise the duck was excellent, cooked to perfection with delicious au gratin potatoes. Once again it was served with an overly sweet sauce which it didn't need. Finally the glass of wine was the Smallest portion I have ever been served. We wish them luck. I usually don't give 5 stars out but LB Bistro makes me feel like 6 stars would be proper. As so many French Restaurants from NYC as well as Long Island have disappeared. Manhattan had loads of great French Restaurants and Bistro while Long Island had a larger than today, and a few good ones all gone Some call themselves French but they aren't really, LB is one of the few who deliver the goods. The new Decor is tastefully done, tables spaced apart comfortable (not like a Bistro usually does) Lets get to the Food DELICIOUS !! We had two of the most Traditional Bistro Entres and they where better than the old French Quarter theater districts numerous Bistro's of the 30's 40's 50's and 60's. ' Actually the quality match's the great French Restaurants of that same Era but of course not the type of service and ambiance but then LB modestly calls them self a Bistro.. The staff were all very friendly and efficient, our waitress Luren was so genuine.so helpful with a big smile, I would say she is the best fan of the restaurant and its Chef's. We were there last night with friends and I can't say enough good things about LB Bistro. Matt owner/chef opened this restaurant about three months ago after having great success in his other restaurant LB Social, which is equally as amazing. While dining there last night, I saw him several times, checking the floor making sure everything was being attended to properly. The ambiance is cozy and comfortable. You don't feel like you are sitting on top of each other. There is a separate bar area and they have an interesting drink menu as well as drink specials. The staff is amazing. Besides being friendly and helpful, they are genuinely excited about the menu and eager to give you suggestions. The menu! It's been a long time since I've been somewhere that I had so many choices and was so excited about what to order. I had the Foie Gras which melted in my mouth. The table had clams on the half shell and shrimp which were huge. I had the duck breast which was cooked to perfection. Everybody was happy with their meals. Chicken dish and a blackened salmon. The portions were plentiful. The desert options were equally as good but we had to force ourselves because we were so full. So we split the most delicious crème brûlée and chocolate mousse! I can't remember the last time I wrote a review about restaurant, that's how good it was and they have only been opened for 3 months. They seem to be working like a fine oiled machine.
