Came across this place since my friends and I were in the mood for Italian food and this location had the best reviews in the Rockville center area. The restaurant itself has a very cozy ambiance to it with the brick oven out in the open. The server was super friendly and gave us good recommendations from the menu and for drinks. I decided on an espresso martini and chicken parm. The martini was prepared to perfection. My friend was in the mood to have her dessert before her meal so she ordered a tiramisu to share with the table. It was not very sweet but a nice treat. The chicken was absolutely delicious with just the right amount of sauce and cheese. It came with a side of spaghetti in marinera sauce. The pasta was a little harder than I wanted but still very good. The portion size was generous so I did have leftovers to take home. The prices were a bit elevated but fair. I would love to come back with my family to enjoy other times on their menu.

    Not a $28.00 salad

So dropped in on a whim for take out lunch. Hostess very nice. Ordered the Mediterranean salad with shrimp to go. It's ok, but $28 for this off the lunch menu is crazy. Tomatoes, cucumbers red onions feta and 5 shrimp. Looked nice in side and only got this salad so not commenting on food, other than this was not worth it. 10 places within walking distance I would go to next time. You can see by my many reviews I am not a harsh critic.

My old next door neighbor & I want to get together before Christmas. She suggested dinner and I should pick the place. Her husband likes a nice, cozy spot with a well stocked bar. My search brought me to Mangia Bene in Rockville Center. Walking in, I see my neighbor and her husband. Guy back slaps happen, we all hug and order drinks. I see all of the familiar Scotches, so I order a Basil Hayden neat. We're started talking about the typical things going on in our lives, now our table is ready. My wife, I can see her wheels turning but she's sitting far away from me so the no sharing rule is in effect. Mangia Bene was voted one of the best Long Island pizza for 2023. Mangia Bene is not a pizza place, its a full sit down restaurant with a huge pizza oven that is in the dining room. Rock on MB! We all agree on the pizza special with truffle oil as well as a calamari starter. The pizza? I don't want to hear about black spots and bubbles on pizza. Those "blisters" represent a well quality pizza. The first bite had me swooning! Sooo good and I love the Truffle flavor at the end. The pasta? Award winning! Homemade, I ordered the Strozzapreti Pesto, freshly made strozzapreti pasta tossed in a basil pesto sauce, pine nuts and string beans. Sounds a little krazy but I like krazy! It was a lot of pasta, I needed my wife next to me to share some of this pasta. haha My friends husband ordered an after dinner latte, I ordered a single espresso and somehow Tiramisu appeared at the table? Perfecto! Great food in a nice atmosphere, Mangia Bene is a five star experience.

Came in here for just dessert. WOW! They have an amazing selection here. We sat at the bar and asked the super sweet and knowledgeable bartender, Amanda, what she suggested and let me tell you I'm so glad I did because it was the best dessert torta Al Burro. Drinks were really good too! Ambiance is super chill & laid back yet classy if that makes sense. Lol

This restaurant has a great environment with wonderful live music. It is also very conveniently located with plenty of parking! The drinks and the apps were delicious as well. The pasta we ordered was ok, I'd love to come back and try more!

Went to Mangia Bene in Valentine's Day for an early dinner & loved the ambience & service that we experienced. Nicoletta our waitress was soft spoken, knowledgeable & patient with our ordering. We ordered the chicken parmigiana, casarroce di bosco, meatballs, eggplant rollatinis, roasted chicken wings & for desert torta burro. We enjoyed everything including the bar & wine selections. I had a gulietta & Lambrusco.

Good food and atmosphere. Had the Chicken Parmesan and I liked it. The restaurant is normally crowded on weekends

Cute and comfortable village restaurant with authentic Italian cuisine. The bread (crusty on the outside and soft on the inside) is served with ricotta and herbs. The chicken parm was a very generous size with lots of melted cheese on top. We also shared the pasta carbonara, which was creamy with just the right amount of pancetta. Our friends enjoyed the white clam pizza and the Sunday sauce special (marinara with a meatball, short rib and an Italian sausage link). It was all fantastic!

A friend had told us about Plancha and never got around it until recently. It's a small place but a solid menu and lots of wine. They were also able to accommodate us with our stroller. Food we got the pan con jamon, garlic shrimp, patatas bravas, shisito peppers and the plancha burger. The sangria was very good. Juicy, not overloaded with BS fruit and just very flavorful. The bread is like a toasted baguette cut into 4 triangles topped with piquillo salsa, arugula and jamon. Pretty good, I was surpised there wasn't pan con tomato but it was still enjoyable. This is a bit more on the acidic side so if you don't like things too tangy - might not be for you. Patatas bravas, classic with aioli and bravas sauce. Shisito peppers blistered, a bit of finishing salt and lemon. Garlic shrimp was cooked well, personally I'd like a bit more garlic in mine and some bread to mop would be nice but still tasty. Plancha burger was definitely our favorite. It's a blend of wagyu sirloin and chorizo, so it's very juicy with a nice smokiness. Very pleasantly surprised and definitely will be back to try some other things.

Tucked into a chic Garden City corner with floor to ceiling windows that flood the room with golden hour glow, this gem radiates modern romance, white marble tables gleaming under crystal chandeliers, olive branches bursting from sleek vases, and a living green wall that climbs the back bar like an edible vineyard. The ambience is pure upscale elegance with a heartbeat, soft jazz piano drifting over the clink of Negroni glasses, exposed wine cellars glowing with Super Tuscans, and velvet banquettes the color of eggplant parm that hug you like Nonna at Sunday supper. Candles flicker in mercury glass, the open kitchen fires pizzas in a blazing copper dome that sends waves of basil and San Marzano perfume, and the marble topped raw bar glistens with crudo towers that look too pretty to eat, until you do. It is lively yet intimate, perfect for power lunches or proposal dinners, the kind of place where solo diners feel like VIPs and groups feel like they own the room. The cuisine is a symphony of seasonal Italian genius that had my fork dancing the tarantella from the first bite to the final limoncello drop. We launched with the burrata special, a creamy orb split tableside over heirloom tomatoes so juicy they burst like summer fireworks, draped in 25 year balsamic and peppery arugula that sang harmony. The octopus carpaccio arrived shaved paper thin, citrus kissed and tender as a first kiss, dotted with Calabrian chile oil that added just enough heat to wake the palate. For pasta, the cacio e pepe was wheeled out on a cheese cart, tossed in a hollowed Pecorino wheel until the strands glistened like silk, pepper popping like tiny firecrackers. My branzino was filleted tableside, skin crisped to bronze perfection, lounging over lemony caponata and roasted fingering potatoes that soaked up every drop of Ligurian olive oil. The veal Milanese towered like a golden cathedral, pounded thin and fried to shattering crunch, perched atop a rocket salad that cut the richness like a sports car on a coastal road. Pizza from the dome? The tartufata arrived blistered and leopard spotted, blanketed in fontina, wild mushrooms, and shaved black truffle that perfumed the air like a Tuscan forest after rain. Desserts sealed the romance, the tiramisu deconstructed in a martini glass with espresso soaked ladyfingers, mascarpone clouds, and cocoa dust that melted into pure joy, while the bomboloni trio arrived hot and sugared, oozing Nutella, pistachio, and passionfruit like edible lava lamps. Portions are generous yet refined, prices feel like a Roman holiday steal ($28 to $52 entrees), and the wine list is a 300 bottle love letter to Italy with a Barolo vertical that paired like destiny. Service was the Michelin worthy encore, a masterclass in hospitality that turned strangers into insiders before the bread basket hit the table. Our server Luca greeted us with a megawatt smile and a complimentary prosecco toast "because beautiful nights deserve beautiful beginnings," then guided us through the menu like a Roman tour guide, suggesting the perfect Vermentino to slice through the octopus acidity. He timed courses with Ferrari precision, bread refilled warm and rosemary flecked before we noticed it empty, and when I mentioned a dairy sensitivity he orchestrated cashew based tiramisu without missing a beat. The sommelier swooped in with a Super Tuscan flight decanted tableside with theatrical flair, while the chef patron emerged to present the truffle pizza shaved live like black diamond snow. Water glasses stayed topped like the Trevi Fountain, plates cleared ninja style, and the manager glided by in a tailored suit to gift us housemade limoncello shots "for the stroll home, or the Uber, we celebrate both." Every staff member radiated genuine warmth, remembering our names, celebrating an engagement with a sparkler topped affogato, and turning dinner into a memory we will replay like a favorite Fellini film. Novita is a five star sanctuary where Italian soul, sensational flavors, and service that spoils you silly collide in a burst of pure delight. Whether you are toasting a milestone, wooing a foodie, or simply treating yourself to la dolce vita, book a table by the window, bring your stretchy pants, and prepare to fall head over heels. I left with a belly fuller than a Roman emperor, a pocket of grissini crumbs, and a calendar already marked for my next visit, this place doesnt just serve dinner, it serves happiness on a hand painted plate. Grazie mille, Novita, you have officially ruined all other Italians for me forever!

We waited 40 minutes for a table (yes even with a reservation), and had to go up to the hostess stand multiple times to get any sort of update. Understandable it's busy on New Year's Day, but we've never had this issue before and 40 minutes feels really long, we could have had our entire meal and left by that point. On top of that we were jammed packed in with multiple other families who were also waiting for a table and it was very uncomfortable. We decided to wait it out because typically we really love this place, and we have been coming here every New Year's Eve for four years straight. Obviously this restaurant has gone downhill severely. To top it off the manager was telling people how on Mother's Day they had 100 no shows, implying they over booked and let their customers pay the price. Which fine, it's a restaurant thing to overbook just in case, but to inconvenience your customers this way is not okay. When we finally got the table and wanted to sit down we were scolded by the busboy for attempting to sit when we were told by the manager we could, even though it wasn't fully ready yet. So we then saw the table next to it was nearly fully prepared and asked if we could just sit down there. The assistant manager was annoyed by us and asked for us to wait for silverware, but after 40 minutes we were desperate to sit, so we said we didn't mind if they prepped around us and politely begged to just sit down since we had been waiting so long. Finally he just gave us an exasperated "Fine!" and we sat despite the horrific attitude of the staff. We really weren't trying to be difficult, there was barely any room in the waiting area and we were just hoping to get out of the way after waiting so long and two of our family members needing to stand that entire time. The food wasn't great this time around, very unseasoned. It seemed rushed, without thought, and it took forever to come out. Service was incredibly slow, but due to no fault of our server. They had left their staff to pick up the pieces as they were obviously overwhelmed and it took a long time to get any service. It was such a disappointment as it is usually a favorite spot to go with prompt service. In the end the manager did nothing. We thought for sure he would comp something because he knew we had to wait very long, especially when we had other plans New Year's Eve, but he didn't even come up to us and apologize. He also knows we have been coming here for years, we told him that it's a tradition, so the way we were treated was so upsetting. Our waiter instead had to apologize even though it wasn't his fault at all, and nothing was comped from our meal. I would have appreciated if the manager apologized and did something to make up for the horrible experience on a major holiday. I wouldn't have written this review if he did the right thing and apologized, but he couldn't even do that. After many years of coming here I can't recommend it anymore. The management obviously has no care for their loyal customers and the food has only gotten worse over the years. Avoid it.

I ordered salmon and sweet potato fries, which you can skip, the salmon was a little over cooked and nothing to write home about. The boyfriend loved his burger, I think it came with caramelized onions and maybe blue or goat cheese. The apple pie with ice cream was on point. But forget all that. The thing that I still think about, the thing I tell people in the city about, is the epic, gigantic, fried appetizer sampler platter. You know when you see something that was just meant for you? Like someone made this with me in mind. I was so happy. You get like 6 mozzarella sticks, fried onion rings, fried zucchini sticks, and fried calamari. It comes with a white sauce I completely ignored- our waitress was extremely patient as I ordered not one, or two, but three sides of marinara, the third they finally brought out in a gravy boat like I had tried to convince them to do in the first place :P It's just so big and happy! The platter can easily fill three hungry people with large appetites, especially if you're also getting full entrees. I'm just a sucker for these samplers when they're done well, and this was excellent. Nicely seasoned batter that always adhered to the food it encased, the insides were not lava, they did not fall apart. The oil they used was fresh, the calamari tender. Is there a food challenge where I can try to eat one of these solo in a certain amount of time? If not there should be!
