First off the restaurant was pretty busy for a wednesday night! We had a few starters which I enjoyed the barbacoa tacos, chopped chicken salad, corn, sushi hand rolls, hummus all excellent. Wow! I was here for a work dinner and was in love from the start. We started with some appetizers. My favorite was the special Mexican spicy tuna avo rolls. I could've eaten that the rest of the night. The short ribs were incredibly tasty. Our waiters were wonderful! Very attentive and gave some good recommendations. The restaurant itself is very dark. The waiter was kind enough to bring over an extra table light. My petit filet was so savory. The layered potatoes were a nice side. I just wish there were more. Pricey food and bad service. Skip it. This place used to have great service, but apparently not anymore. My steak was OK, and cooked properly. They forgot the bread order, and when they brought it (when we were almost done eating), they neglected to bring utensils for the spreads. Also they got the wine order wrong. Really low bar they didn't clear. There are better Kosher restaurants for less money in Manhattan. I'm just embarrassed that I recommended this to the Gentile person who was hosting us. We went for my wife's 50th birthday. It's a rare occurrence to go to a kosher steak house because they are so expensive but this was a special occasion and was well worth the price. We started with some cocktails that were delicious. We shared an order of 6 Barbacoa Beef Tacos. They were perfectly seasoned, tender and delicious. My wife and I shared a chopped salad with a great dressing and the Tomahawk Steak for 2. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare, which isn't always the case in a kosher steak house. We used to love this spot, last time we went it was very disappointing, for the $$$$$ you stay away, choose other options, only thing that was edible was the sushi, but for this price find another kosher sushi spot. $50 burger so not worth it, steak was very mediocre too. This place is amazing. Very upscale food and the prices definitely matches that. I would make this restaurant a special occasion destination just because they are a little pricey, but worth it. I had the Teriyaki grilled salmon medium well and it was superb. We got the spicy grill salmon rolls as a starter which is their only cooked sushi. I could eat that all day. Definitely one of the best sushi rolls I've ever had. We also had complementary bread for the table with garlic butter. Bae had the sea bass which he loved and said the middle even had a chocolate flavor which was very unique. For drinks, I love spice so had my fill with the spicy margarita (even though I think it's called something different on the menu). Came to Doma Land + Sea since one of my friends keeps Kosher. I wasn't really sure what to expect, i heard a lot of Kosher friends raving about it but never actually tried it myself. The menu looked solid and had a variety of different food to order. Inside, the restaurant was spotless and clean, the tables were kept at a safe distance, and i felt comfortable dining inside. All the tables were sanitized - both upon sitting down and leaving, which i appreciated. For drinks, I got the "Big Poppa" which had smokey whiskey, which i swapped for Mezcal, (which is also smokey), sour citrus, and blueberry. It was great - strong, not watered down at all, and definitely a drink worth getting if you like a smokey taste! For an appetizer, i just got a spicy salmon roll, which was just OK, it was good but nothing to rave about. Next time i'll definitely get a special roll since those also looked pretty appealing. The entrees are really where Doma shines. I got the "Big Eye Tuna" (cooked medium rare) which had a sesame crust, cucumber, smashed avocado, breakfast radish, and soy ginger sauce. I feel like tuna, like salmon, is really easy to make, but also easy to mess up. Doma did a phenomenal job with the tuna! The soy ginger sauce, along with the avocado really complemented the dish perfectly. My friend got the Grilled Veal Chop which had broccolini, patatas bravas, king trumpet mushroom, and wine reduction. It was absolutely delicious! I took a few bites from my friend and was so impressed with the dish. I'm normally not a veal fan, i prefer lamb or beef, but wow. This was amazing. For dessert, my friend just got the Doma donuts, which came with 2 chocolate sauces. I'm not really a dessert fan, so i didn't try any of Doma's desserts, but my friend did like the doughnuts. I've heard all about Doma for months so I was very excited to go there on my birthday, but I felt a bit let down. My group arrived late and the staff wouldnt let us sit until they all got here. They made me feel bad about the empty table and said they couldnt promise it to us even if the whole group arrived because we were late. Well we finally got there and half of the back room was empty so I dont understand why they made me feel so guilty. Once we were seated, it took 20 minutes of us flagging down every waiter in sight before we even got menus. Didnt get water or drinks for another 30 minutes. Didn't get bread until we were halfway through with our entrees. ... I understand that it was Sunday night and they were busy, but this was totally unacceptable. No one seemed to be in charge or managing the waiters. 0 stars for service. The food was phenomenal. The burger was juicy and flavorful and the bread didnt get soggy. The doma roll was delicious and fresh (not sure if it justifies $25 for 8 pieces), but they didnt bring sauces or ginger with it and we ate it by the time the waiters came back. The fish poppers were delicious goodness- I'm not a fan of fish and I loved them! The salmon was also good and you can choose a selection of sides to come with it. Dessert was the true star. The donuts are warm and springy, coated with just the right amount of cinnamon sugar and had the best dipping sauces. This is one of the best kosher steakhouses I've ever been to. The steaks are amazing and the sushi is top notch. The service is usually impeccable, but it has been extremely slow past few weeks . The baby I got thyme was robust, def included with a kick, and a juxtaposition between sweet and bitter. Now we move on to the table. It was quite a few of us there as it was a birthday celebration. The orders were taken immediately as we sat down. Food was prepared very quickly. Our appetizers came out and everyone's mouth started to water. (We had pescatarians, vegetarians, and meat eaters at the table). There was something for everyone. The sushi was so good. Probably the best I've ever had. The Tomahawk lives up to its name and is so succulent. The tacos (fish, steak) was so deliciously seasoned. At the end they brought out doughnuts beautifully stacked for the birthday girl. Those doughnuts were so fluffy. They were perfect as it wasn't too sweet. Just perfect! Overall, this place is easily 5 stars. A great place to celebrate a birthday. Great tasting food. I came here a Sunday evening with my husband and my daughter and I had a wonderful time. I didn't have any of their cocktails but my husband did and he seemed to have enjoyed it. What I can say, although it is a bit pricey, the food is delicious. So as far as taste wise, you wouldn't be disappointed. Now for the price point, I expected a little more in the area of ambiance and decor. I also wasn't too fond on the way the food was brought out. AWFUL. I made a reservation well in advance for a group of us to take our friend out before she gets married the next day. The only reason I'm giving a star is because 0 isn't allowed-and the inside is pretty. The rest deserves far from a zero. First of all, I drove 4hrs to get there and was pretty excited and hungry! But I should've stopped along the way. The acoustics are awful and the 5 of us couldn't hear what anyone was saying. Next, the waiter came over within the first 5 min about 10x asking if we were ready to order. Finally we did, and then we waited so freaking long!! Waiter brought bread 10min later, after asking 3-4x for it, the "duck" salad was literally iceberg lettuce with a piece or two of pineapple, some shreds of cabbage, and a few shreds of duck that were the size of the top of the fork. Waiter also forgot to bring our short ribs(which when we tried to get his attention he just was too busy talking to a table of regulars and laughing and barely acknowledged us) when they came out they tasted like the kind you get the worst cheap Chinese restaurant..cut those in half, poured cheaper "bbq style sauce" and then served it to us. Tacos were greasy and had more creme type stuff than actual meat, my friend got the chicken and it was raw inside-we couldn't get the attention of the waiter at all so that was helpful. As the meal wrapped, I was expecting a dessert to come out w a candle and writing-since I called before to request and confirmed . 1: the guy on the phone asked me how to spell mazel tov( I asked if this indeed was a kosher place...even non Jews know how to spell this!!). 2. While the Kallah was in the bathroom I confirmed with the waiter we are getting the dessert as planned. He had NO idea what I was talking about, so we ordered dessert. He recommended the chocolate mousse cake , claiming the most popular. Clearly that isn't the case-it tasted like that nasty pareve creme inside desserts, on a cold cake (that was suppose to not be cold) and a side of HOT CHOCOLATE sauce..that was still frozen. 3. They didn't even spell my friends name right..which is pathetic. 4. When a "manager" came over (some Cuban guy) he literally kept interrupting me like a cheap car sales guy and was too busy flirting with another table, stopped talking and walked to them. 5. Did I forget the part where my friend ordered food, had it wrapped up and they threw it out?! 6. The bill was suppose to be $220, they took off the dessert, it was $170-not awful but if the food was good or even edible it'd be worth it! 7. At the end we tried to at least take a picture of the group and the manager kept shoving us in front of the raw meat display case saying everyone loves taking pics with that and forced us to stand there by saying if you're going to take a picture in my restaurant you're going to advertise it. Love the art and lighting and decor very well done. As for the food we started with painters plate which was nice but can't share it with more then 2 people. Next we tried the sushi. The Doma roll was fantastic. The rainbow roll was pretty but not worth the price. The flavors were standard. Next we had the chop chop salad with chicken on the side. Just don't. Horrendous service, nothing special about the food, overpriced, and unclean. Was just there Monday evening, and no they were not crazy busy. Drinks come out and were delicious. Then out of nowhere, a server slides a steak in front of us, and leaves. Very odd considering we didn't even get our bread or appetizers yet. We ask our waiter if this is our steak? She looks confused, goes over to the computer, comes back, apologizes and removes it. She takes it over to the computer, back to the kitchen, (who knows how many other people it got passed onto), until the same dish later appears at the table next to us. Anyway we are sitting there with just the drinks, starving, wondering why at least they didn't bring out the bread. Finally we get our appetizer (fyi the spicy tuna nachos were really tuna tartare and the chicken tacos were.. they just list things by names that have nothing to do with the dish). So we get this tuna tartare dish but still no bread. Food (steak) and dessert (donuts) were ok. Waiter never brought me my tea. Even when we mentioned it when she brought the check, would have been a nice gesture to at least offer to bring it on the house. Nope. She just apologized. It was my birthday and our waiter knew and yet we ended up with such horrendous service. My friend went there several months ago and they mixed up their steak orders. Also, if you are a germy this isn't the place for you. I found it odd that they placed the utensils on the bare table and not on the napkin, but figured they wipe down the table. When the table next to us left, I saw them use a raggedy grey rag to clean the table and practically threw up. Overall, just don't bother. There are a ton of restaurants in that area you can get the same quality food, better service, cleaner, and not overpriced. They get one star because the drinks were good. read more
