We were looking to see if there were any sandwich places in Morro Bay that we hadn't tried yet and this came up. Despite working here and walking/running past here a couple times a week had never stopped in. The immediate impression walking in is that damn, the breakfast pastries look good. Nice seating area, friendly staff and then the menu behind the cashier. We wanted lunch so asked the cashier her preference on non breakfast sandwich. She recommended the hot pastrami, which sounded pretty tasty, so we ordered it. The food came out pretty quick. We walked across the street to enjoy the bay and upon opening the package I was a bit disappointed. The sandwich looked like it only had 2 slices of meat in it. Smelled good though, so figured maybe their pastrami was really rich. Huge let down. This sandwich was overwhelmed by mustard, the lettuce was mostly the thick root end, and the bread was not fresh. Chewy/reheated bread plus very little filling was a terrible deal for $9. Staff is super friendly, nice looking pastries, but definitely avoid the hot sandwiches at the very least. I'll go back to try breakfast and/or cold lunch sandwiches but that was a terrible impression. read more

We loved this place so much that when we decided it was the beach for our wedding, we made sure all of our guests from Arizona enjoyed La Parisienne too! Found my new favorite breakfast spot. If you're looking for a quick bite for breakfast, this is the spot! Went here on a Saturday at about 9:30am (day after Valentine's Day) and it was fairly busy. With that being said, we placed our order and got our food within 10-15 min. The girl at the counter was very friendly and patient (being how busy it was) and the lady who brought our food (I assume was the owner) was friendly as well. Now the food! WOW!! Just WOW! So fresh and extremely delicious. The croissant on these two were light, buttery and had a perfect crisp to it! Both my husband and I ate every bite and were completely satisfied. They also had a great variety of pastries and desserts but we went mainly for the breakfast croissants. We've been coming to Morro Bay for years and never knew about this place until I found it on Yelp, and I'm so glad we did! Definitely recommend and will DEFINITELY be coming back. read more

Everything was good. The only miss for us were the merengue balls (merengue coated in buttercream). The merengue tasted great, but the buttercream was a bit too much! Five stars everything. We have been coming here every time we are in Morro Bay for breakfast everyday. We also tried lunch. We also tried tarts and cakes including for birthdays. Food quality is excellent and you get very friendly service. Coffee drinks are tasty and strong, the way we like it. For breakfast and lunch try their sandwiches and quiches. Personally we like the breakfast egg sandwich, pastrami and smoked salmon....they are great. No negatives, it tends to get busy after 0830, and sometimes they run out of the popular stuff, try to go early or call in your orders. Very scenic location too. If you are craving a sandwich, this is not the place to go. This came up as #10 on Yelp under sandwiches in Morro Bay so we decided to check it out. There are several beautiful cakes, pastries, and cookies in the display case and then a large white board menu if sandwiches and other lunch items. We asked for a recommendation between both cold and hot sandwiches and the employee recommended a hot pastrami. The sandwich was mostly bread that tasted day old, slathered in mustard, limp and old tasting lettuce, with a few slices of meat. Left a bad taste and actually made me wish I had gotten a premade $3 sandwich from a gas station you can throw in the microwave. Ambiance and experience: friendly cashier greeted us when we arrived, plenty of seating inside and outside, and only 5-10 minutes wait after we ordered. I've been here before. Never when it opened. Today, I waited outside with others, until they opened, a few minutes late. Upon entry I saw the first display case still had yesterdays baked goods. The 2nd case was empty and I heard a staff member say that the pastries were coming out. The third display case was full of yesterdays pies/tarts all of which had potions removed the day before. I turned and left. Having cut my teeth opening a retail outlet that served fresh perishables, it is ingrained in me that the doors open on time and that the first custome experiences a clean well stocked establishment ready for business. Day old pastry is not what I expect from a Parisienne Pastry Shop. Not being ready to open is not what I expect. Not having your best foot forward when the customer arrives is not what I expect. Yesterdays leftovers should have been pulled the night before by the closer. The display cases should have been filled with fresh product and the coffee fresh, hot , and ready to pour prior to opening time. Possibly the owner can respond with his expectations. read more

By far the best bakery in the whole area. I regularly drive from San Luis Obispo to buy one of their tarts when I have people over. Real French tarts, beautiful and delicious! (the chef is French). The food here is good, but is it worth catching Coronavirus? Nearly a year into Covid, they still don't abide to many basic health rules. Number one, this is a popular spot for tourists, so you'll often see large groups in line with no social distancing. We walked up recently and there were no less than ten people in line. In contrast, Buttercup Bakery is one customer at a time and you wait for your food outsude. Secondly, on at least three occasions, we've seen maskless people behind the counter. It looks like the guy might be the owner, but he's been maskless more than once-- one time he was on the phone next to customers. Like I said, the food is good, no place is worth catching a potentially deadly virus. Skip this place if you value your health. read more

Met up with friends to specifically try their fruit tart. It was probably one of the best fruit tarts I've ever had (though I don't have too many usually). The tart had a good level of sweetness and a thick crust that held shape when serving. The fruit went well with the sizable custard layer. We also ate lunch and sat inside, which feels a little old and run down but simple and sufficient. They had a good selection of pastries and quiches. I am looking forward to going back to try more of them. I ordered the French onion soup and breakfast sandwich with brie, eggs, tomato, and avocado. Unfortunately they didn't have all the soups available that were on their menu board. The French onion soup was very flavorful. The thing that stood out about the sandwich was the baguette (you can choose croissant instead). It was light and had a nice crisp.
