Bread bike Bakery has a large variety of pastries, breads(hence the name), and even pies. All the wheat that they use is ground at the shop, so you know it's good. They have oldie but goodies which, again, hence the name, are still good. They have cool people who work at the front and are happy to be there, and have obviously been hired because of their passion for baking, bread, and all goodies of the sort. Inside you are able to see the mill where they ground their wheat. And it is very plush with mostly white decor. Super urban but thrifty but farmstyle vibe inside. Super quality ingredients. I would most recommend one of their fruit scones, absolutely impeccable. Come here if you are a bread or pastry lover looking for healthy down to earth food that is not only healthy but scrumptious as well. Bread Bike has amazing, fresh sourdough loaves and an abundance of pastries available to buy! They also have a full coffee menu, and other gift and apparel options. You can pre order bread, pies, cookies and other items for the holidays, and pick them up the week of, which is super convenient! Pastries, pies, and cookies are somewhat pricey so be prepared to spend a bit, but it's worth in my opinion for the quality of ingredients. Service is always superb. I have had many of Bread Bikes' items. I enjoy their sourdough bread, chocolate croissant, and especially their pretzel. The pretzel is my favorite. For a while now, I have wanted to try their pizza on Wednesday nights. I ordered online and went in to pick it up. I tried to ask a staff member, but she just walked past me multiple times. No one asked me if I needed help or anything. When my pizza was ready, they didn't even call my name. I had to go up and look for my name. Unfortunately, I found the staff very off-putting and rude. I understand that it's busy, but the woman at the cashier had an attitude when I asked her a question. I got my pizza on time and even got a thick slice of pizza to try. I did not like the pizza at all. Chocolate chip cookie - 5 stars. Bought two, and they were both delicious. Nice crust on the edge and soft in the middle. Sea salt on top, with the right amount of chocolate - wish I had another one right now. Country loaf - 4 stars. It's good, but, I think it's all preference. I wish it was just a simple sourdough. Maybe it's the proving that makes it a bit doughy, not sure. It did have a nice crust ok it. But, overall, not a bad loaf, just not my favorite. read more

The fluffiest, softest, most pillowy focaccia I've ever had. I've never been a huge focaccia person, and I realize it's probably because I haven't had good ones. I reached for a sample not expecting much, but was blown away by their olive oil and salt one. It's so simple but so so well done! Crispy outer edge meets soft, supple, pillowy dough. It had the perfect amount of salt where the natural flavors were enhanced. I got the balsamic glaze with herbs focaccia and it was so good! It could use a bit more glaze, but for a big square around $7, it doesn't get better than that. You gotta try this spot! Definitely recommending to friends and coming back again!! read more

I was just traveling through SLO as I make my way up to the Redwoods & Oregon, and WOWWWWW this place is making me wanna camp an extra day by here. Being a SoCal resident I have gone to a multitude of unique bakeries, but this one really sticks out. For starters stellar graphic design l. The stickers and posters throughout the store add so much color & life (especially that mermaid cowgirl lol). And I applaud the use of organic ingredients + straus milk (best milk). The crossaint ham & cheese having dijon mustard was a subtle but nice touch too, def added way more flavor vs the standard. Our favorite local bakery here in SLO! The kindest staff with the homiest location tucked away a bit on Parker Street. We absolutely love their variety of fresh breads that we take home for sandwiches most weeks. Special shout out to their chai spiced morning bun, their pull apart monkey bread (back in the day), Thanksgiving and Holiday seasonal specials (incredible handmade pecan pies and soft dinner rolls!!), their smattering of rotating scones, and the local Cacti Coffee (drip/bags to go) they also carry in their store. Tons of other great items offered that I did not list as well! We especially love visiting for their Pizza Wednesday's over the Summer which feature live music and is a great scene for locals and their families! Tons of fun to hang at and equally amazing to take home for takeout as well. Sam and Matt and their entire team at Bread Bike have worked tirelessly to create a gem of a bakery here in SLO that we and many Slocals are so fortunate to have in our daily lives! Delicious!! I like to get their sourdough loaves at the Farmer's Market. They sell a couple goodies there & you are even able to buy with EBT tokens during Farmers. Not so sure about in store. I didn't visit the shop itself until recently and I had an overall good experience. It is very cute spot, but little seating indoors. There is some outdoor seating. My experience with the employees in shop have been great. The pastries are a little expensive, but it is all freshly made and are absolutely delicious. Wish I visited this place sooner since I am no longer living in SLO!! Was craving this place after I moved and of course had to get it when I visited again. read more

I discovered Bread Bike at the farmers market in San Luis on Saturday a few years ago. So now I go to their store downtown and purchase the everything Bread. I just love it. I also have it sliced. When I'm there if they have scones with any kind of berry, I always get one. Their cookies are pretty good also. Service is good, prices are higher than most bread, like house of bread. I always do take out. Parking is sometimes difficult, if you are in front of the store, you have to back out. read more

What a delightful place!! When you walk in, you can smell the fresh baked goods. I had a fabulous double baked chocolate croissant and the BEST chai ever. And they sell the chai mix there. The service is great. Ask a question? They happily answer and make excellent recommendations. The shop is warm and inviting. We bought a couple of scones to go, and they were delicious today. The kimchi savory scone was definitely the family favorite. The chocolate croissant was a little bit of a dissapointment. It didn't have much chocolate inside and it just didn't hit the spot. Maybe it could have been better warmed but they didn't give us the option so we just assumed we couldn't. The tofu bánh mì was bland and the bread was hard. We asked for some sauce to add in it but I personally didn't really like the addition of it. Overall, I'm glad we tried it but I think there are better bakeries in town. read more

Do yourself a favor and COME HERE FOR WEDNESDAY PIZZA!! It's some of the best pizza I've had in SLO (I prefer this over flour house) and you can tell they use quality ingredients. The ranch and chimichuri-esque sauces the give on the side elevate the whole experience too. For sides, their salads are yummy, and ice cream sandwiches are superb. Wednesday evenings they shut down part of the parking lot and put up tables and chairs for you to have an outdoor dining experience. There isn't much service but the employees are nice! read more

Absolutely delicious and I normally don't like bread but I LOVE this bread! I also hate Danish pantries but the Danish here is amazing. Bread Bike has changed my attitude towards bread. It's so moist and clean tasting. Maybe it's because they mill their own organic flour on the premises. We came back on Saturday, and Tiny Cafe was in the parking lot. I had a Rosemary Maple Latte. I had no idea that a Latte could be so good! I'm from Oregon where we put pine tree rainwater in our ice cream. This Rosemary Maple Latte is a close second. My first loaf of Bike Bread was from the free food table at the Cayucos Senior Center. Even though it was a couple days old, it was excellent! So I visited their bakery in SLO-Town. I applaud anyone that makes their product with a PASSION, and that's definitely the case here. Goodness, they even grind their own organic flour on the premises, and only use sourdough starter, not yeast! Goodness, indeed!! Really excellent bread. They have a pizza night on Wednesday which I'd like to try. And they also sell their breads at the big SLO Thursday Farmer's Market, which is where I took my photos. read more

I have only tried one item at this bakery, the kimchi savory scone, which must have just come out of the oven, because it was tender and melted in my mouth. I went back the following week, but it was afternoon and I got the kimchi scone, it was cold and wasn't as good as the warm one the week earlier, but it was still yummy. A bit pricey, $6 for a scone, but it's ok to get a treat once in a while :) read more

Bread Bike's seeded bread is fantastic--especially toasted with a good layer of butter. The texture and flavor are just perfect. But their cinnamon rolls? Not great. I really hope they tweak the recipe (they could learn a thing or two from Grand Central Bakery in Portland--those cinnamon rolls are amazing). Also, everything's pretty overpriced. read more

Never mind that it was half off at a market in Cambria (unsure of when it was baked). The seeded rye is some of the best bread I have ever had. The crispiness and thickness of the crust, combined with the density, texture, and chew of the inside, and complement of numerous whole grains and seeds, is deeply satisfying. The flavor is mellow and can be paired with sweet or savory flavors. I love that a loaf probably weighs a solid kilogram or more. I love that it takes work to slice. This is substantial, hearty, beautifully rustic bread. Even after moving it to the refrigerator and toasting slices of it ad hoc over a few days, it kept well and continued to deliver. Bread bike was my go-to source of bread for years while I was back in college. The bread is all great but I'll save that for another review. This review is about their cheese pretzels. I love how malty their pretzels taste and how glassy the outside is from the lye bath. Then they add on some cheese which melts and crisps up like the best cheese bagels. These are always fresh and delicious, and I always try to make a point to stop by when passing through town! Would totally recommend if you are near high street! read more
