First the drinks came out which were nice to enjoy whilst waiting for the food. I had a lavender matcha latte which wasn't too sweet! After a few minutes, the food came out as well! Everything was very delicious. My dish was a bowl with the contents of a burrito without a tortilla and it was sooo good. Luckily they had a small fridge with some bottled sparkling water. Patio seating is your best bet here. Sadly the employee said someone stole their umbrellas and propane tank. So the patio had 1 umbrella which was the only table outside that was occupied so bring a hat! The menu is very limited but they did have one salad, a steak salad. It has more of a restaurant/club vibe than a coffee shop which gives it a special charm. When asked about their chai the friendly barista was happy to share that they don't use dry powder, they use a spicy concentrate. That's one plus!! But, it's not a house brew, it's basic Third Street Chai you buy off the shelf at the local grocer, chef supply, or natural foods store :( To their credit, they heat it up well and top it with a fancy cinnamon design on the milk foam. When asked if there is a local chai, the barista (who is a chai fan) couldn't think of any. This explains why the local reviews were so good for mediocre concentrate. While the chai quest was a miss here in SLO, Kreuzberg is still a pretty cool spot, with a fun, social vibe, friendly, helpful staff, and some tasty looking items on their menu (just not a stop for chai).

Should Have Known Better…read more.... I've been to the Nautical Bean on Los Osos Valley Road a few times since my review in March 2026 and each visit earned 4 or 5 stars. Not bad! But I went back on Monday, June 8th and had a very different experience. I ordered 2 small cups of hot chai with extra foam, extra hot and 1/2 sweet. When they were done, both were "heavy" meaning they felt like there was no foam. I checked and yup...no foam. I mentioned it to the barista who said "no problem. I'll do them over". They were done quickly, but still felt "heavy". I didn't want to go back and figured "it's just me". I got into my car and tried one. It was 90% the same as before. She simply scraped a sliver of the drink off the top and added a touch of foam. Plus...the liquid was "thin" meaning she nearly scalded the drink to get it hot. The 2nd chai was the same way. And the shop wasn't even busy at the time. Everyone at the Nautical Bean is friendly and the vibe is great, but next time I'll take my own advice...even if that means going back to the barista twice to get things right.

There is a private parking lot and there were plenty of spaces during the day. Once we entered, the ambiance and decor were so bright and welcoming. The staff were super friendly and their service was great. Luckily there wasn't anyone else in line so we were able to ask questions about their menu. After they gave their recommendations, we ended up with the bon bon, abuela's, and an americano. All were very good, but abuela's was my favorite! Very flavorful! There were also seating areas inside and out, and some cute merch and other items for purchase. We will definitely be back if in town again!
