La Morena in Ridgeland is an absolute gem if you're craving authentic Mexican food done right. I went with the tacos and a horchata, and everything was fresh, flavorful, and hit the spot. I also tried the chilaquiles, which were perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sauce and comfort-food vibes. You can tell they put care into the food here--simple, authentic, and satisfying. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to.

I recently visited Broken Egg and specifically ordered "3 single Eggs Benedict" -- I made it clear…read moreI wanted three individual Benedicts (totaling three eggs), not three full separate orders. The waitress misunderstood and brought out three complete plates. These are not cheap items, so it was a significant mix-up on their end. When I politely pointed out the error and asked if they could adjust the bill by removing the extra orders, the operational manager was brought over. Instead of trying to make it right, he knelt down to speak to me in a very condescending tone, explained restaurant policy, and only offered a 25% discount. He refused to compromise or remove any of the mistaken items, even though the kitchen error created the waste. I felt like I was being talked down to and treated like a child, which led me to ask if this was how they handled similar situations with adults. He immediately accused me of being insulting and emphasized his position. At that point, I chose not to escalate further to avoid causing a scene. I paid the bill (thankfully a friend helped cover it), but the whole interaction left a bad taste. The food itself looked fine from what I saw, but the combination of the order mistake and the dismissive, ego-driven response from management made the visit really frustrating. It felt like they were more interested in protecting policy than taking care of a customer after their own error. I understand mistakes happen in busy restaurants, and not everything can be fully comped once plated. However, a more empathetic and professional approach from the manager would have gone a long way. I'll think twice before returning.

They came up on multiple recommendation lists as a place for great food in a cute restaurant atmosphere. We were so pleased to enjoy brunch here. First off, our server was such a gem. He was incredibly kind and provided standout service. Upon his recommendation, we ordered the duck fat hashbrown. It was a rich and decadent dish with crispy potatoes, eggs, bacon and covered in sauce! I was able to get my eggs scrambled although they usually come sunny side up. It was incredible delicious! This is an excellent spot to enjoy a meal in Jackson!

Overall Rating: (4.5/5)So close to perfection. As someone who's constantly recommending Elvie's to everyone, here's my one small critique: If the Duck Fat Fries aren't available as the side with the Steak Frites, I'd love the option to substitute them--or, at the very least, not be charged extra for a side of garlic aioli to enjoy with the fries. For an entrée that's already on the pricier side ($$$$), that little touch would go a long way. That said, thank you for now accepting brunch reservations, keeping Happy Hour alive, and consistently delivering exceptional service and outstanding food. Those are the reasons Elvie's remains one of my favorite restaurants in the city. We'll definitely be back!

With vintage stools, cozy booths, and music from the 1940s and 1950s playing in the background, it truly feels like stepping back in time. You can order burgers, fries, custom sodas, and milkshakes, but honestly the milkshakes alone are worth the visit. We went specifically for shakes and ended up adding a basket of fries, which we absolutely demolished. The service was excellent -- our milkshake and fries arrived within just a few minutes of ordering. The fries were seasoned really well, though I'm pretty sure the secret is a slightly sweet sugar blend mixed into the seasoning. Either way, they were addictive. The milkshake we tried was the Ginger Finger -- a vanilla shake blended with Butterfinger candy and a hint of ginger that gives it a subtle bite. It was unique and delicious. There's plenty of seating for everyone, whether you're dining solo, as a couple, or with a large group. The walls are lined with interesting photos that add to the charm, and parking is plentiful. Overall, it's just a neat, memorable experience that blends good food with a slice of history. A solid stop if you're in the area.

We walked in…read morearound 9am on a Sunday morning and, after confirming they had pork-alternatives on the menu, waited to be seated. The place was not crowded but was doing a decent business and we only waited about a minute before being escorted to our table. The space is slightly cramped, as you have to walk single file down the aisles, especially if there are customers at the tables. Regardless, the decor is nicely done with cool copper looking A/C ductwork exposed among the black painted rafters and beams in the ceiling. I was immediately arrested by the Apple Fritter French Toast, French toast style fritters with fried apples, rum butter sauce, blueberries and powdered sugar! Both the description and the pictures on the menu were mouth-watering! But I was also torn between that and the Bourbon Street Pancakes, three house-recipe cakes topped bananas, pecans, rum butter sauce drizzle and whipped cream. Yeah, I was thinking exactly what you are thinking right now! After much indecision, I opted for the French Toast, with a side of eggs and chicken sausage. My mom ordered the Pumplin Crunch Waffle, a pumpkin infused graham cracker crunch Belgian waffle, spiced pumpkin cheesecake butter, maple pumpkin syrup and powdered sugar. I also opted to try one of their Cranberry Pomegranate Fizz Mocktail, which was iced tea, cranberry and pomegranate syrups, lime and ginger beer, with rosemary and orange peel! We were taking no calories prisoner today! After a short wait, my mocktail was brought out. It was just okay. First, the glass was completely full of ice so there was barely any drink. The syrups were a little too sweet and the ginger beer was not very prominent. As I was tasting it, our server came back to inform me that they were out of apples for my French Toast. Maybe its just me, but 9am seems kind of early to be running out of ingredients for your featured dish at a breakfast/brunch restaurant... Anyway, that dilemna settled, I reverted to my other choice and got the Bourbon Pancakes. I also asked the server to remake my mocktail with less ice, which he obliged very quickly. Our food arrived shortly thereafter and the pancakes were really good! Just the right amount of flavor and syrup. My mom's belgian waffle was also pretty good, although she wished it had been larger. The eggs and sausage were decent, but not especially memorable. Overall, it was a really enjoyable first meal back in Jackson. I would not hesitate to come again!
