Never been a great breakfast, but used to be dependable and affordable. Neither are true any more. Prices have gone up. Price of coffee is $3.00 on its own, more than a plain coffee at a specialty cafe! Food came out, sad looking single piece of sausage. Hashbrowns were soggy. Then I'm told that they ran out of biscuits. I would have ordered something else if I wasn't getting my biscuit. They ask me if I want to substitute toast. 5 minutes later, after food had already gotten cold, two of the saddest looking pieces of burnt white toast came. No where near a biscuit substitute, at an already over priced breakfast. Have not been in a long time, will not return in a long time. read more

It's good food! I like Primo's breakfast, particularly the Sunrise bowl. It is absolutely delicious. Omlette and pancakes are good too. Primo's also has a bakery counter and daily blue plate specials, with plenty of side options. This is definitely a spot for comfort food. read more

Its just very mediocre. The brisket sandwich at lunch was tasty but was mostly fat. Just not worth spending $35-40 dollars for 2 folks at lunch. I don't think the Primos family even owns it anymore and they use to be one of the better restaurants in the Jackson area. Very institutional air about it now. The 2 stars are for this visit only. Went on 6/7/24 and ordered to go a Friday catfish blue plate with fried green tomatoes and green beans. Ask for the fish and tomatoes to be crisp and to be separate for wet food. Received all together and ask to separate. Instead I was given another orders of tomatoes. She put her in gloved hand on the fish. I ask was this a cat fish dinner because it was 4 fish fingers (not a complete piece in the bunch), the green beans were overcooked and very salty uneatable, the tomatoes were all not done. This is the only time time I have received such a meal from this restaurant. My friends and I frequent here living in the neighborhood. Please monitor the preparation of and test the cooking and service. I will try again in hopes of not receive such an unpleasant meal and service. Was super excited to try this place since it's considered best of 2020 for blue plates and lunches. My order came out wrong 3 times, and I was still unsatisfied with my salad because it's not a salad, but rather shredded lettuce and shrimp. The flavor is there and everything is very seasoned. One of my favorite restaurants in the Jackson area for a blue plate special. I love their breakfast (available all day) and their blue plate chicken and dumplings. You really can't go wrong here. I highly recommend getting the biscuit (available all day too) instead of the roll or corn bread. You can also order some of their famous cakes as a dessert or to-go. I'm gonna be honest, I've had better and for $14 could certainly make better at my own home. I had the Early Bird Platter and substituted toast for pancakes (cost extra) but they were the best part of the platter and don't even really come with it, and got fried eggs over medium (they were cooked perfect but not seasoned at all), flavorless grits, and greasy over-cooked bacon. The food is not anything special, but it's not horrible, so if you don't want to make your own breakfast and you don't mind paying for it, then this is the place to be. The service however is great. You order at the counter, then have a seat. I said it was my first time and a server recommended the platter. They were friendly. The food didn't take too long to come out but it didn't come out quickly either (about 10 minutes). The place is clean and people are constantly walking around wiping things down even when they are slow, so I'd have to say it's probably a well managed place. I might try it for lunch and serif something special comes of the food, but for now unless I feel like being lazy I'll save the money and skip the breakfast. read more

When I threw out the question on Facebook asking who had the best sammich in town, the Primos Shrimp Po Boy got a few votes. I rolled in on one today at lunch.....ponied up the extra $1 for the Sweet Potato fry upgrade and sat down with a Splenda Tea all for under $14. The bread is really good. Almost as good as the bread at Soulshine, but not quite. The shrimp were really nice. There were a BUNCH of shrimp (see picture) as well as a nice flaky crust on my bread. It is a damn fine sammich. When I eat poboys andywhere outside of New Orleans, I always rate them the same way. Would I be happy with this poboy if I had ordered it in New Orleans? Yep. It's a fine sammich. Couple that with the great service and atmosphere of Primos and you have yourself a sandwich worth a trip. read more

Ok, we're trying to support our local restaurants but this is nuts. $13.23 for 2 blueberry pancakes and one thin sausage patty??? Not to mention they left out the blueberries. The manager offered to remake the pancakes but I just asked for a refund, got 3 pancakes and sausage at McDonalds for $4.09 which looked just as good. Really, at three times the cost the Primo pancakes should have spilled out of the box instead of barely in sight. read more
