Great home cooking and nice to your wallet. Open for lunch. Be sure to try their banana pudding.

Urban Foxes is a true gem in Belhaven Heights. Yes, the coffee is great--but this spot is much more…read morethan a coffee shop. The pastry case is stacked: a wide range of sweet and savory options, all baked in-house, plus a small rotating menu of heartier plates that make it easy to do either a light bite or a full breakfast/lunch. Bonus points for the strong vegetarian lineup and frequent vegan options--my go-tos are the black bean roll and the tomato pie. The baristas are friendly, service is quick and efficient, and the space itself is incredibly comfortable. Set in an old house with thoughtful decor, it has classic coffeehouse vibes (no cold, industrial feel here), making it equally good for meeting friends or settling in to get work done. There's also plenty of outdoor seating and a great backyard. On top of all that, Urban Foxes serves a solid selection of local craft beers and hard seltzers and really leans into community--regular pop-ups, art markets, and music shows ranging from punk to hip hop. Pro tip: grab a free zine on your way in. This place does a lot, and it does it well.

I also saw covered outdoor seating. In fact, there were multiple options for seating. I especially admired the design-flow which allowed the customer line to be separated from the seating areas so that the customers don't have to be in the way of those that are seated. The shop is bright and bright the element of outdoors into the interior in a subtle way with its plants and large windows. I'm such a sucker for pleasant greetings and warm hospitality! "You had me at 'Hello! How are you?'" The world could certainly use more kindness and genuine southern hospitality. Now, here's what really wowed the coffee enthusiast/hobbyist in me! Espresso shots were being pulled meticulously with attention to detail, including the use of a scale, which provides for consistency! The flavorings/syrups were not pumped haphazardly from the familiar brand-name syrup bottles. Rather, for my latte, an in-house syrup was carefully measured for the perfect taste! My delicious, honey-cinnamon latte was made with care, attention to detail, quality ingredients, and finesse! Loved it! If I'm ever in Jackson, this will definitely be my go-to spot!

So many choices - Biscuits & gravy, omlettes, low carb bowls with plenty of protein and veggies, avocado toast, breakfast burrito, etc. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong. Atmosphere - It's chill depending on when you come. Just know the weekends are super busy, so make sure you get there early. You can post inside the cafe, on the patio, or in tables throughout Banner Hall which houses Lumeria book store and some other boutique shops. Prices on food are reasonable. One slice of cheesecake is a little pricey, but it's a large slice and honestly worth it. Overall, this is my favorite place to get breakfast in Jackson!

It was after 1 PM on a Sunday afternoon in late April 2025. I was hungry and didn't want to find anything that was open on a Sunday. It was best that picking up something fresh here seem to be the only course of action without having to traverse all over town for a bite to eat. There was two tables that were placed outside the hallway where the Nissan cafe was. The experience here was very quick casual. I probably took about 10 minutes from looking at the menu above the counter and decide to have some New Orleans cooking. The jambalaya featured that day was really good and delicious. I also had the brisket wrap, which was also delicious and a compliment to the jambalaya. I ended up ordering from the counter and paid for my meal, like a general fast food encounter would be. I told them I'll be outside at the tables. After 15 minutes, they brought it out to me, and I went to town with it. For the most part, though, I was thankful that this place was here and also was open on a Sunday afternoon too. It's for everybody and anyone who is here visiting the museums and wanted a bite to eat or have a have a drink while exploring the magnificent exhibits that these two museums have to offer. The Nissan cafe is a small little café that serves up delicious food for everyone who wants. The menu was simple and very limited though. Just a choice of a few items that you could order and it would be the highlight of your day here in Jackson, Mississippi. The overall experience here at the Nissan Cafe by Nick Wallace was good and definitely worth coming here especially when you don't need to be anywhere else but a museum in Jackson on a weekend. The service here was good, fast, and casual. While the simple set up was just that, it was definitely nice to have Cajun Creole food at your fingertips without having to scour the sea looking for it. If future travels permit me to do so, I will come back and try out more of what I missed the first time. The prices is here are not bad, plus you're supporting a small business inside a public museum. It's all good. I don't mind spending extra for a good meal that's benefiting the cafe as well as the museum. It was nice to dine here and I hope to come back here soon. As far as staff goes, you have to clean up after you are done, but they bring you your food after you purchase it. There is no servers, just a simple cafe that brings you genuine Cajun / creole cuisine here in Jackson, Mississippi. Aspect is to come here to enjoy the two museums here and have lunch. That is the best combination you could have on a weekend afternoon. Dress casually during the summer and dress warmly in the winter. The Nissan Cafe by Mike Wallace is located inside the dual museums - Mississippi Civil Rights & Museum of Mississippi History. It's physically located at 222 North Street in beautiful Jackson, Mississippi. The museums charge admission fees daily but also have days where admission is free. They accept major credit cards as well as cash. As far as parking goes, you might want to see if there is private parking for the museums first. I happen to use uber for my travel needs. And as needed, you can find street parking where you can find it. If you prefer Jackson's public transportation, consider the routes that's right for you and get here for the day. Explore the museums at your leisure and have lunch at the Nissan Cafe by Mike Wallace while you are here. And as always, uber and Lyft are always at your disposal whenever you need it. The only regret that I didn't do was grabbing dinner just before leaving the area here. That way I had something for that evening. Oh well. If you visit the museum, you should consider dining here and having a bite to eat. Definitely a good place for y'all while supporting the museum and the cafe. Recommended if you are in the area and love Cajun and creole cuisine like me. 5.0 stars for the overall experience. Support local! A+

Make sure to look for the Char restaurant as a reference. The bagel bakery is housed with other shopping, restaurants and businesses. I parked near Whole Foods which is the back part of the shopping center. Ambiance: 3 Stars As you walk in the bakery, the decor is modern with various paintings and artworks. There is plenty of tables, chairs and 3 large booths. At full capacity, the noise level will increase. The display of the bagel section is great however, it is hard to read the menu board due to the narrow ordering area. There are menus available if you can't read the menu display. Service:3 stars You are greeted by the staff and the ordering starts at the deli section. The ordering process is somewhat chaotic. It wasn't busy, but it seems the staff helping at the counter were scrambling more than they should have. They were pleasant and professional but somewhat slow when ordering a few items. Everything is freshly prepared and you are eating in line to pickup your order. This delays the line to move. Food: 3.5 Stars The freshness of the bagels, the various salads (chicken, tuna, or veggies) and condiments were crispy, moist and or succulent. I ordered the Egg, Meat and Cheese on an Everything Bagel 3.5 Stars. The patty sausage, cheese and egg were ok. The bagel was the STAR of the show. Slightly salty to balance the various seeds and onion. It was light, crunchy on the outside and soft and chewy inside. I added a few dashes of Louisiana Hot Sauce to enhance the flavor of the sandwich. Because of the freshness and the taste of the Everything bagel, I ordered the Baker's Dozen to bring home. I will update the review with comments from the family on the various bagels I bought Enjoy!
