I stopped by Eats to pick up a vegan hash brown. No eggs or meat. No cheese. Just hashbrowns with bell pepper, onion and jalapeno. I was informed they don't have bell peppers. Ok. I opted for just onions and jalapeno. When I picked up the order the bag literally felt empty. Like nothing was in the container. It weighed nothing. I had to double check to make sure I was given a double portion. To my surprise they used the hash browns that are cut very fine. I was hoping eats would have served cubed hashbrowns. The hashbrowns had no crisp to them. No salt or any type of seasoning. They were essentially flavorless. And the portion size was super small. The image doesn't show the true size of the portion. These folk gave a teeny tiny portion of hashbrowns and dared to charge almost $5 dollars for what should have been a $3.00 (if that) portion. I was so upset at this. I understand food prices have gone up but potatoes are suppose to be a fairly cheap food. I'm noticing a lot of the restaurants are gouging on usually cheaper items. I believe they are doing this to make up for the cost of other items that are becoming more expensive. Also, Mississippi restaurants charge more for items that are cheaper in other states. As a frequent traveler I will stop by a restaurant out of state and buy a product for one price and when I come into Mississippi the next day I can order the same sandwich from the same restaurant and the price is more expensive. I have never understood why this is. Never again. Do better E.A.T.S. I overpaid for some soggy saltless hashbrowns and that shouldn't be. read more

Typical Diner style restaurant, we visited for lunch, I got one of their breakfast (breakfast is served all day) platters, my wife got the chicken fried steak, my eggs-bacon-toast-grits-pancake were good, no butter for toast or pancake was a drawback, food was hot and pretty well prepared ( eggs were slightly overcooked but not terrible),fried steak was really good ( good portion size) Cole slaw was really good, turnip greens were pretty flavorless. All of our food took quite a while to come out, service was really spotty ( not very attentive ) . Overall a decent diner experience but they have plenty of room for improvement. read more

Came here for quick breakfast before the Super Bowl. Line was out the door so we sat at the bar. Customer service did not lack sitting at the bar. I had the biscuits and gravy the breakfast sando and mimosa. Every thing I got was hella good and would get again. Ambiance gave that home feeling. Very clean and everyone was attentive and nice. I am really not one to leave bad reviews... I feel like I'm pretty honest when it comes to food at restaurants, but this was by far one of the worst meals I have ever eaten. First of all, there was no gravy on the mashed potatoes. I had to ask for it. Then, the mashed potatoes were lumpy, which I understand because they're mashed not creamed, but the potatoes that were in there, were basically raw. They were inedible the food was not hot. I am so glad we came across this cute little diner while in Jackson! They have a good and open space and they even have homemade ice cream! YUMMY. For breakfast, I ordered the Big Breakfast. It comes with two eggs, choice of hash browns or grits, toast or biscuit, and choice of two meats (bacon, sausage patty, smoked sausage link or breakfast ham). Everything was so good. It tasted like a home cooked meal. It was seasoned to perfection. Before leaving, I had a single scoop of birthday cake ice cream and it was really good. When I came here from my last visit a couple years ago, I was expecting it to be very good. I like to be supportive of small businesses. The salad, okra, and beignets were good. I was under the impression I was getting the blue plate special price at supper for $12, which was entree and two sides. After eating my lasagna that was cold in the middle, I was trying to be positive. But, when I received my check for over $30, I knew something wasn't right. The two waitresses decided to inform me after the fact the blue plate was only for lunch. I would not think I would have to read in between the lines on a menu. Friendly atmosphere, but make sure you ask questions and read carefully or you will be deceived when receiving the check. It was sad they didn't even offer to compensate just a little bit or any adjustment or have a manager come talk to me. I paid in cash to get the cheaper price, since this meal was outside of my budget range I had in mind tonight. For current economic conditions, not for people barely making ends meet. Had to come to Ridgeland for some errands and remembered a post about EATS Diner a friend made last year. Let me start with service. Everyone working as servers/hostesses is young and these are some of the hardest working young people I've seen in a restaurant setting in a while. My drink order was taken as soon as I was seated and my food order taken once I put the menu down. Food came out hot off the grill and I was checked on for refills at a good pace. I ordered the two pancakes breakfast with bacon and added one scrambled eggs. One reason I like to eat local for breakfast is you get real eggs and not powdered or liquid eggs. The pancakes were very fluffy and the bacon was the thick-cut variety. Everything, including my coffee was really, really good. My husband and I had a great dining experience here. We were driving through on a weekday morning and stopped in. The hostess was friendly, we got seated right away, and table service was also expedient. Despite managing 4 other tables, she was able get us everything we needed for a complete and satisfying breakfast. We enjoyed the food and drinks. This morning we waited 15 minutes for a table after being told it would be about a 5 minute wait. That's not what bothered me though. After finally sitting us they gave us menus and never returned. Another family was seated next to us after us and the waitress took their order and eventually brought out their food. After 30 minutes of sitting at the table waiting for any type of service we decided to leave. No one had even taken our drink order. I told the host on the way out that we were leaving because no one had taken our order, asked us for our drinks, or even acknowledged our presence. The host looked at me and said ok. I usually tip well even when I have bad service but this crossed the line. I've been here twice. Once for breakfast and once for ice cream. The breakfast is pretty good; I had the hash bowl with a side of a biscuit and a pancake. I would order all of it again. Only downside was the chocolate milk; it is white milk with a hint of Hershey syrup. 4.5 of 5 stars for breakfast. The ice cream is great. Not homemade but good flavors. They do have adult shakes with alcohol infused but nothing in line with a Blizzard or Sonic shake. You can create your own. 4 of 5 stars for ice cream. The servers were all friendly, but they seem very inexperienced. Orders were mostly accurate. One time a friend had their waiter literally leave the restaurant and never return. 3 of 5 stars for service. Plenty of tables inside, and they have a bar for ordering beer. Came here for breakfast and the food was overcooked. Gummy grits, dried out bacon, overbaked biscuits. Eggs were luke warm at best. The coffee was terrible and not hot. A diner should have great coffee and theirs was disappointing. But the weirdest thing about the meal was when you ask for cream for the coffee, they bring the creamer out in little black plastic takeout dip cups. They need to invest in ceramic or metal creamer pitchers. Also, there's no sweetner on the table and when you ask for some, they bring you out 3 packets.
