I liked Strawberry Cafe! Food - Spinach and artichoke dip was really good. I also enjoyed the Shrimp Etouffe. It was full of flavor - as it should be. A friend ordered the Train Car. It was a cross between a Philly cheesesteak and a shrimp Po'Boy. It wasn't bad, but it had a lot going on. I don't know that the fried shrimp and beef mesh well or the shrimp with all that cheese. The sandwich comes with a spicy spread and that made it better! Drinks were good! My friend had a Moscow mule. I had a strawberry mimosa, made with strawberry puree. I'd definitely get this again. Went there today with a party of six. The server was great but the kitchen must have been very behind. The plate presentation was poor. Everything was brown. Even a few sprinkles of parsley would help. Most of us got the fish of the day. It was dry and overcooked. To remedy that we ordered the cream sauce with crab for an additional $10.49 each. It never arrived before we were tired of waiting (at least 15 minutes just for sauce,)Then we ordered after lunch drinks and they were out of what we ordered. We go out a lot and always to locally owned establishments but we will not return to this one. read more

Again, a great experience! Some friends and I celebrated "Galentine's" on February 7. I'll admit we originally tried to get a table calling THREE weeks in advance to another restaurant who was willing to accommodate our party of 10 at 4:30 in the afternoon! We had an excellent meal with friendly service and perfect weather on the patio the Strawberry Cafe. We started with the Fried Green Tomatoes with the lemon crab sauce which were perfect. I had the Train Car which was tasted like what you would get if a Philly Cheesesteak and a fried Shrimp Poor Boy had a beautiful baby. Doesn't sound like it would work - but it really does. Strawberry Cafe was the highest rated option, so we decided to give it a try. We were looking for a local restaurant, offering top-notch food. That is exactly what we found! We started with an appetizer: The Pita Melt - very tasty. Then I had a cup of the Cream of Crab Soup - it was delicious! For our entrees my wife enjoyed the Strawberry Fields Salad and I had the Pasta Creole which was excellent! Service was very friendly and very good. Prices are in-line with what you get. First time eating here after hearing about it from friends. We enjoyed our dinner. We had soup of the day for appetizer, which was excellent andouille. She had the creole pasta, which had shrimp that had not been deveined, which was kind of disgusting. It wasn't very creole-y; needed more spice. He had general TSO's chicken, which was good, solid portion and spicy. Dessert was madison mud and caramel pie. The caramel pie was excellent. The madison mud was good, but not as rich as we'd like. We will likely return, however will skip the creole pasta/shrimp. read more

Sometimes when I allow myself to get too hungry, I drive around aimlessly looking for places to eat. I stopped at Hamil's but the line was too long and they had a medical emergency going on in the parking lot. So I kept driving around. Ended up eating lunch yesterday at Strawberry Cafe. It was a good choice, as I've only done weekend brunch there. Wasn't busy so I was happy about that. I was seated promptly with my drink order taken before I could put my purse down. I loved the biscuit with cinnamon butter they bring to every table. Hate I only had one though. I went with the shrimp poor boy (menu spelling) and onion rings. The bread was toasted but was still soft and wasn't drenched in remoulade sauce. The shrimp were plentiful and seasoned well. The onion rings lacked flavor to me. They are homemade but there was no seasoning in the batter. That was a total let down for me. Service was good. Can't complain about it at all. Quaint and delicious! A great different type of menu. Great if you are with a few folks and everyone wants something g different. I had a fabulous sandwich with sliced prime rib, grilled peppers, cheese, breaded fried shrimps all in a soft hero bread; it comes with a choice of sides so I took the onion rings. My sister had the shrimp and grits which was wonderful also...and of course there was dessert. We had the bread pudding which was warm and tasty. Just driving through town on my way to New Orleans. Hard to find anything wrong with this place. Everything is scratch made, served in a delightful room and with a great staff. I went with the Shrimp and Grits which was served in some kind of cajun gravy. More sweet than spicy but mostly just savory. They did the grits just the way I like them...not to soupy like some places do. Generous portion of shrimp and that hot gravy hit the spot on a cold day. We selected this restaurant off a whim. A few friend viewed the menu to ensure there were vegan friendly options. Due to numerous events in the area, a reservation was required. The wait time wasn't long. We were seated on the patio which was great as the temperature was nice today. The water was not good at all. However, my pasta and bread were very much delicious.
