Great flavor and appropriately thick. Gumbo was ehh. A little thin for my taste, but great flavor. Wife had the mahi and raved about it. Stole a bite of the mushroom spinach mix and it was amazing. It is RARE I give less than 3 stars but let me tell you why. Due to employment Hubby has been in this area for the last year & this is my 3rd visit. We had heard of Georgia Blue & staying in the hotel across the street was thee perfect excuse. Husband ordered the Seafood Linguine & I had the Pot Roast Poboy. Although the crawfish tasted like the ocean air on a blustery day - the meal itself, he devoured. Let's talk Pot Roast. The picture literally made my mouth water. I have a dental issues so I ordered the Onions, Mushrooms & Gravy OTS. (My side was Mac&Cheese.) Well, I had to call the store bc neither the gravy OR the Mac&cheese made it to our hotel. Of course I sent hubby back for the gravy but by the time I realized the Mac&cheese was missing, hubby was already eating. I opted to just call to make them aware of the missing order items. According to the manager in the phone Mac&Cheese wasn't even on the ticket yet it's printed AND CHARGED on our receipt. I decided to just try & enjoy the meal. 4 bites. FOUR. The roast was SOOOOO salty. I thought it was the gravy so I kept the sandwich for later and tried to eat it NOT THE GRAVY. It wasn't the gravy at all. I had hubby try it and he spit out the 1st bite. After hearing rave reviews from my office colleagues, I decided to give this restaurant a try. I was promptly seated and started with the turnip green bites. Went back today to try a different Blue Plate special. We tried the fried catfish. We unfortunately and for the first time disappointed. We both had the bloodline prominent in almost every piece leading to a strong fishy taste, to the point of being a real turn off. The fry was fine ( crispy ) and well portioned but the taste in the bloodline pieces was almost overwhelming. This is a rookie chef (line cook) mistake. The sides were very good, as usual, and we've tried the other blue plate main dishes and found them very good. We'll be back and this is very fixable. The restaurant is clean and roomy, attractive. Menu is really good and waitstaff outstanding. Still recommend Georgia Blue/Madison. Give them a try. I'm betting management gets this one issue resolved quickly ! read more

I've been to this restaurant a few times while visiting MS. This last time was a little weird. Upon entering I inquiried if happy hour was at the bar only or available at the table as well. I was told it was available in both locations. After sitting at a table I was then informed it was only at the bar. I asked the waiter a few times to see the bar menu to determine if I wanted to move and it was like pulling teeth to see the menu. Lastly, the restaurant was freezing. Hostess and wait staff were terrific, welcoming and very friendly. Paid attention to the customers, not their phones! I looked at the menu in advance and had the Duck and Sausage Gumbo (over potato salad) on my mind. Something different to try. But the waiter talked me out of it (said the mix of hot gumbo and cold potato salad made no sense). I went to the Mardi Gras: Cajun grilled mahi with garlic mashed potatoes, sautéed spinach, topped with crawfish Mardi Gras Sauce. Fish was fresh and flaky, cooked well. Hubs and I had a quick meeting lunch today at Georgia Blue in Madison. We rarely get to go in the day time to see our favorite bartender Angie. As always she was fantastic. We shared the Mahi Tacos and the Shrimp Tacos.. after all, it's Taco Tuesday! Both were delicious but we both agreed the Mahi Taco were and still are our favorite. They have Pork Tacos too but we only have 4 hands between us. We don't complain. So this is really not a complaint but one of our plates had mostly crumbs on it when it came to chips. The gyro was okay; a bit dry for the lack of Tzatziki Sauce. The sauce was very barely visible and took away from the taste. However, the Greek Fries were absolutely fantastic, hot, delicious and seasoned to perfection. The service was timely. I called in the order and it was ready shortly after my arrival. Let me start with my order. We travel and every time we are in Madison on Sunday we come to get the Hamburger Steak because it's very good. It seems to be very popular. It was 1:15 pm when we ordered only to be told they were out of hamburger steaks. If you've been serving a dish that popular on Sunday why wouldn't Management know by now how much to have on hand. Me and my family went to this establishment at 7:35and we were greeted at the table and got our drinks pretty quick. But after 15 minutes we still had not had our order taken. Well a couple more minutes went by and we finally got to order. Then after 30 minutes our food was still not out and we asked to speak to a manager and she came over after about 10 minutes and asked what the problem was. We explained to her that is had been approx 30 to 45 minutes and we still didn't have our salad or our entree nor did we have any refills. The. I was initially hesitant about ordering it only because it has okra, but true to my server's word, I could not even taste it in the dish.
