A couple folks had eaten here previous, but for the rest of us this was our first time. You're primarily looking at a seafood centric restaurant. I guess that's pretty obvious by the name. We kicked off the meal with.fried crab claws. Not wanting fried we went with broiled. We did end up getting fried in one of the meals and having tried both definitely go with the broiled. A few slices of toasted bread also joined this appetizer. Perfect dip the Orleans sauce into. Tasty, meaty fairly good size, and soaking in their famous Orleans sauce was an absolute appetizer kickoff. This is gulf blue crab and gulf shrimp residing in their Orleans sauce. I think you could eat just these and be perfectly fine. A little bit of a kick of spice but not overpowering just flat out spot on. One entrée that came highly recommended was the red fish Orleans. Outstanding! Blackened red fish topped with Orleans sauce and shrimp. Only got four shrimp but collectively the meal was outstandingly fresh and filling. Not sure this is the place for me! Actually, just kidding, I'm sure that it isn't. I'll just leave this here in case any versions of future Adam decide to get daring and eat here again. I have been to the one in Gulfport and found it lackluster. I thought maybe it was a one off fluke, as everyone pumped it up so much, I was unimpressed completely. Tried this one in Flowood, and I was even less impressed. I had some kind of sampler with chargrilled oysters, shrimp, crab cakes, and some other fried foods. The oysters were full of shell bits and one was so big I didn't even try to eat it. Factory fries, factory Hushpuppies, along with some foreign fried ball that I thought was a Hushpuppy. Eww. What was that?!?!? Just no! Not sure what it is about Madison County and bad restaurants. I feel sorry for the residents here. Poor things, bless their little hearts. There are only three places I have eaten in KidRockVille that are worth even eating. Elvie's, Walker's Drive In, and Pulito Osteria. That's it.... I'll take all other suggestions please! I love oysters and went to Half Shell hoping to have a great meal and experience but I veas very disappointed. First the wait was longer than the 15-20 minutes they said it would be. Then we had my 84 year old MIL with us and they sat us at a tall table. We requested a shorter table so that she could be able to get in the chair and they refused even though there were plenty of tables all around us. They said they would have to put us back on wait list so we had to help my MIL up to her chair. Then the server left all the plates at our table. Didn't remove some of the dish on our table. Over all terrible service and food is over priced. The oysters were the only good thing. Everything else was dissent but over priced. The atmosphere was ok. I would not recommend this place. My review is unfortunately not based on the food, but based on the service. I opted to order to go through the toast tab app for a friend who is home sick. I placed the order at 11:30 but the only option for pick up under ASAP showed it would be ready in 45 minutes. I called the restaurant and got AI who agreed that 45 minutes was a long way for a bowl of gumbo and a side salad and said they would connect me to a staff member but instead disconnected me. When I arrived at the restaurant at a quarter of noon, the young lady told me there was no to go order for me so I showed her my to go order on my phone and she said oh well it won't be ready until 1215 to which I replied there is no one in this restaurant and it is a bowl of gumbo and a side salad. While we were talking, the order printed out at 10 minutes till noon. I received the order at noon. 30 minutes is unacceptable to receive it to go order when there is no one in the restaurant. Sidenote, the restaurant feels a lot like New Orleans, right down to the smell of a lot of the hole in the wall restaurants in New Orleans so if you want that kind of vibe by all means visit this location Also, I spent $24 on gumbo and a salad, yes, I did add 20% gratuity, and received not one single pack of crackers in the bag. Ordered 2 shrimp poboys one with fries and one with okra to go. Terrible. The bread was too hard to eat like a poboy. The fries were stale. The okra was hot and good. The shrimp had an old taste. We were greeted immediately when we arrived, and seated promptly. The waitress greeted us and made sure we had everything we wanted. The food is excellent in preparation, presentation and taste. The atmosphere is family friendly and the decor is reminiscent of New Orleans. I would highly recommend for lunch, dinner with your family, or a date night. read more

The atmosphere here is nice. Open kitchen and bar with upscale fish house vibes. Our server was nice but the service was a bit slow. We love the seafood pasta and the sweet potato brûlée. Very good food, atmosphere and service. For me, "out of sight, out of mind" applies here. They are a little further past the other restaurants on Hwy 98 W, so I often forget about them. But when we remember them when making our dinner plans, we always leave with a happy face and a happy belly. And they certainly draw a crowd. read more

Service was absolutely abysmal - server was MIA, everything came out slow, Manager was clueless on how to run the floor. We didn't even get waters for crying out loud. My boyfriend and I go here all the time. Whether we sit at the bar or at a table, the service is always great. When we go, we always have to get a half dozen Oysters Rockefeller. We normally get a glass or a whole bottle of Riesling and we share the Ribeye with fries and add a side of the cheese grits, they are delicious and the steak is always amazing. If we're in the mood for more seafood than just the oysters, we'll get the Shrimp & Grits instead and it is phenomenal as well. One of the best staff members they have is Nikki & she is just wonderful, very attentive & extremely good at what she does. The food is always great here. I ordered the oyster sampler and seafood gumbo. My wife ordered the Redfish Orleans and daughter ordered the fired catfish with fried okra. It all was amazing except for our order of crab cakes and fired green tomatoes as our appetizer. The fried green tomatoes were fried too long. The waitress was very sweet but was extremely busy. Poor quality!!! I went in and sat at the bar to grab a quick bite while I was out shopping. The server was friendly and attentive, but busy (you could tell she was swamped). I ordered 1/2 dozen raw oysters and a shrimp po' boy and a to go order to take home to hubby. It took a little bit to get the oysters out and although they tasted fresh, you could tell that they had been sitting in the chiller long enough to start drying on top. They still tasted good, but didn't have much liquid. The sandwich came out and looked pretty good, lots of shrimp and a side of fries. There were only about a dozen fries, guess they wanted the sandwich to be the star instead of a pile of fries on the plate, although there were pretty tasty. The shrimp was fried hard and they were dry. Way way over cooked or they had been cooked earlier and they just have them a second frying to heat them up, either way it was bad. My to go order came out with my food, that was a good thing, I was starving so I thought I would just eat some of it. I'm glad I did eat party of it, if I would have taken it home to my husband he would have been more disappointed than me. It was the stuffed portobello mushrooms with a side of broccoli. The stuffing was smashed flat and fried hard, there wasn't any flavor left to the shrimp or crab in the stuffing. The broccoli was overcooked and mushy. I went ahead and paid for the mess. The bartender asked if I wanted to talk to the manager, in didn't want to cause a scene, but probably should have. The iced tea was the best part of the meal. I will never go back.
