    Grilled Oysters

Hands down the grilled oysters are top tier. Dined at the New Orleans location and had to visit the Jackson spot. if you like buttery, cheesy, juicy, meaty. smoky flavor oyster---nobody does it better than Dragos. Order a dozen!! A 1/2 dozen is just a tease

I've onlu had Dragos once before and it was in NOLA. There we had the charbroiled oysters and I've never been able to find a place that compares. I was super excited when my husband told me that there was a dragos in Jackson. We stopped here before we went to the hotel. I got a dozen of the charbroiled oysters and they gave us 15! The favor was just like I remembered. The pasta looked amazing . I wasn't even hungry when I came, so after the oysters I bowed out. My husband did get the grilled shrimp pasta with some spicy (at the recommendation of the waitress) and it was just as good as it looked. Stop by and try the oysters, you won't be disappointed

The food, the atmosphere, the price point, and the service are all on point! I am so glad we decided to stop in at Drago's during our visit to Jackson. When we arrived we were quickly seated and served. I ordered the Boudin Stuffed Shrimp Jumbo Gulf shrimp baked with a spicy Cajun sausage, served with corn maque choux. The stuffing was so delicious. It has a brown gravy base that is served with meat and rice. The corn has a lot of spice to it, giving a kick to it. I also had the Sautéed Fresh Spinach. It was good. For key drink, I had the liquid marajuna for the first time and it was really good. Great place. When I am in a city that has one, I will be sure to pop in!

I had passed this restaurant so often I finally decided to stop and go in. It was very early. They had just opened. I ordered a shrimp and Grits. I also tasted one charbroiled oyster. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. They were hot, expertly seasoned, and the ingredients were fresh. The shrimp and Grits was very filling. The tomatoes on the plate were super fresh. I absolutely loved that. I hate soggy tomatoes. The shrimp was also very fresh. The chatbroiled oyster was cooked in butter, seasoning and it had cheese mixed in with it. I put it on the bread. It was very flavorful. Although a tiny tad bit salty and I believe they use a lot of salt to preserve the oysters so that's understandable. The restaurant staff was attentive and very friendly. The restaurant was also very clean and upscale looking. My meal was to go and I ordered at the bar and I noticed there was an ample selection of spirits. Although I don't drink I decided to throw that in there for those who do drink. I was happy with my order. The food and environment were both wins. I will be returning.

I saw this last year when we first moved here but the hubs said "it's not gone taste like New Orleans" (hell Nola ain't tasting like Nola these days) I finally convinced him into going last week but found they're not open on Sunday/Monday. But we made it last night, what I will say is this location gives more of a sports bar vibe as opposed to the Nola location which is upscale. And the food matches the vibe to a T. We started with the alligator bites. When I saw them all the air was deflated from my balloon. They looked like the scraps from a basket of chicken tenders. Not the thick chunks you get from Pappadeaux, but hey I'm learning (at my financial my expense though) they were bland, I mean no flavor at all in the flour or on the gator itself but once I dipped them in the sauce it made a huge difference. We also got a dozen oysters NOW THEY WERE THE STAR OF THE SHOW and I should've just gotten them as my entree as well. The guy back there grilling them needs to be honored. They were the perfect size and seasoned to perfection. My mouth is watering thinking about them now. I got a seafood pasta which I'm still disappointed about, it had that thick gravy Nola is known for and me being from Chicago was expecting a white wine cream sauce. How the heck does one think to slather that over those thin angel hair noodles is beyond me. That heavy flour gravy needs to be over mashed potatoes not pasta. But it's cool, I'll never ever never order that again. The hubs got a dish which had a filet, half of a small maine lobster, lobster mac n cheese and broccoli. I tasted the mac n cheese and wasn't impressed. But hey he'll eat almost anything and be content so there's that. I waited for the server to ask if I wanted dessert (which is one of my rules), that's a markup for restaurants and they should be pushing it how they push those drinks to bring the tab and the tip up. She didn't (no surprise there, after she stopped while holding our food to reprimand other guest for seating in the bar area without be escorted there I was turned off, why not drop our food off we were one table over instead of talking over it?) but I wanted to taste the bread pudding. The joke was on me, she knew what I didn't. I told her to bring it to go since she had already printed the bill. Once she got it to me and I opened it and saw how pretty it was I was happy. She said to warm up the sauce and pour it over when I was ready to eat it. What she should've said was remove the banana slices because by the time you get home they'll be brown and the hard sliced strawberry before warming up the hard ball of bread because if you don't warm it up it's going to be too hard to eat. I found that out on my own also. And the thin watery sauce has this really strong liquor taste that wasn't rum but more whiskey than anything. Would I come back? For those oysters, ABSOLUTELY! If they'll allow me to get a bed of angel hair pasta with the seasoned butter they use for the oysters and a dozen of them as my dish and I'll be a weekly customer.

I wanted to try Drago's again after my last attempt was mediocre at best. The option around the Hilton are very limited so I was rooting for them out of hope and necessity. I ordered Shrimp 'n Grits, Spring Salad and a side of Red Beans and Rice. Whew!! Drago's improved greatly from last time. The Shrimp 'n Grits were flavorful, spicy and enjoyable. The salad was as good as a salad can be and the red beans and rice had a good amount of spice as well. I can relax a little the next time I go for the rubber match.

First timer. Was supposed to have dinner there but plans fell through. So I grabbed lunch to go the next day. The menu online is not the same as in the restaurant, glad we didn't link up because I had my mouth set on some crème brûlée. They don't have it. Online ordering was not activated and I wasn't able to call in due to the listed number being unavailable. Minus a star for the inconvenience. The charbroiled oysters are good and I was full off just 5, definitely didn't need a dozen. Very tasty however. They provide pieces of french bread but good thing I asked for more. 5 pieces of mini slices for a dozen oysters wasn't enough. I also doctored them up by adding butter and toasting them at home. Much better. My son had the shrimp platter, which was shrimp, fries and 2 onion rings. The container was empty, sans the onion rings, so I'm going to say it was good. But for the price I could have gone to Phat's, Jamie's or Froghead Grille and saved 12 bucks for the same portion size. Minus a star. We also tried the gator tacos. When I picked a piece to taste it was hella chewy. I know gator can be chewy but I can't recall it being so at Pappadeaux's. However, when I assembled the taco and added the delicious aioli sauce it was quite tasty. Overall...I've seen what I needed to see. I get that things are higher these days and if a dish tastes really good I don't mind paying. However comma...I don't feel this meal was anything special. Especially to justify the cost.

This is one of my favorite Jackson-area restaurants. All three times, I've had the charbroiled oysters and the lobster mac & cheese. I only wish there were a Drago's closer to where I live in northeast Alabama.

    Receipt

Husband ordered Steak (medium), got well done. I ordered Baked salmon, was very dry and very salty, cannot eat it. Didn't finish my food, only ate a little. Overall, the price we paid was not worth it. Told the server about the food experience but didn't do anything. Went home still hungry. Chef needs to get a different job.

There is no pink in this steak at all. That is NOT medium rare.

I have eaten at the location in New Orleans and everything about the experience was fantastic. I was excited when I saw this location in Jackson, MS. Unfortunately, this experience was nothing like the NOLA experience. I ordered the filet (Med Rare) with lobster. The filet came out extra well done and the lobster was so overcooked it was tough and rubbery. I also believe the menu said it would be served with sauteed spinach but it was served with steamed broccoli instead. My wife ordered the baked salmon and it was also overcooked, dry and WAY overseasoned. Neither of us finished our meals. Our server, Cassandra (Cassie), was pleasant and the service was good, but the food was unacceptable. We won't be returning to this location.

My first trip to Drago's after multiple times of driving by it in different cities. We were seated immediately upon arrival. Our waiter was very nice and checked on us multiple times throughout our meal. For an appetizer we went with the lobster Mac and cheese as well as a half dozen of their chargrilled oysters. The oysters were fantastic and may have been the best that I have ever had. They gave me French bread instead of crackers for it. The lobster Mac and cheese was amazing! Great flavor and nice portion. The pasta had a very generous portion of lobster in it. We got the short rib and shrimp and grits for our entrees. The rib was very tender and well flavored. The shrimp and grits had an nice cajun flavor and was full of shrimp. We had so much food that we had to bring half of the home. I'll definitely be back at Drago's when I'm near one in the future

The ambiance of an Applebees, the prices of CAET, and...the best oysters around. Actually flame grilled, perfectly seasoned. If only they'd serve with toasted, warm buttered bread. Restaurant feels like a different dimension in a weird way. A vibe

The shrimp and crab ceviche was probably a 8/10 ( could've been a 9/10 but it had cucumbers in it). It had a tad bit too much lime juice or lime taste. The shrimp and crab dip was delicious! 9/10. Fresh chips as well. I really enjoyed the pickled red onion addition was really good. Overall Saltine has a great menu selection, warm and welcoming vibe.

That was delicious. Also got the lobster and crawfish dip ok and one can never go wrong with calamari which was also good. For dinner, I had the salmon and grits and kale. It was ok because not quite what I was expecting - I was expecting spicy and it was too sweet for me but might be my fault for not fully reading the description and being focused on the Cajun seared aspect of it. It was still good though. Nothing superb but filling and loved the crunchy kale on top. Really liked that they were open on a Monday and they were fast. At one point, too fast because one of my co- diner's dinner came too soon while still eating their salad. For dessert, we got the cinnamon roll cheesecake and shared it. I only had one bite because it was too rich for me but it was very tasty and good. Unfortunately, we didn't get the oysters which is THE item to get here but it was otherwise a good visit.
