The Jackson location does NOT live up to the standards of the Louisiana Dragos. Their draft beer system was not working and my dining companion said it was not working 6 months ago either. The chargrilled oysters were the big disappointment. TINY oysters and not near enough butter and cheese mixture poured on them. They were basically DRY and hardly ANY sauce to dip the bread in. The garlic bread was way too toasted and would not absorb what little butter sauce there was. Entrees always so so at Dragos. This location needs to get up to standard or close. read more

I was in town for a family get together for the 4th and my husband wanted to take me here because he had it in New Orleans. This is definitely not New Orleans. Our waiter was amazing and so was the manager's the appetizers was on point but the food entrees looked better than it tasted. I have eaten at the original Drago's several years ago. We were in Jackson Miss. so we decided to try the local Drago's for dinner. We started with a dozen charbroiled oysters. Unfortunately they were all overcooked. A hardened piece of meat in the center of an oyster shell. About $30. I had the trio. Some type of beef, shrimp and a half lobster grilled. The lobster meat was charred and had the moisture completely cooked out of it, the shrimp were tiny the meat was overdone. My wife had shrimp and grits. The shrimp were small the grits were dry and grainy. The service was excellent, the food was terrible. We spent about $160 with tip. He was joking and talking to a young kid Hanging out at the reception area along with the receptionist. It was good, but nothing exceptional. The shrimp pasta had a great flavor. This place can be a bit expensive, but the drinks and service make up for it. The Worst For Takeout! We just left this location of Drago's hoping to place a to go order. At 4PM, the place is pretty much deserted. We were directed to the bar to place our order. Two bartenders are there, standing around doing nothing. We were totally ignored, but they saw us as there was NO way that they couldn't have. We stood there for 10 minutes just to see if they were going to ask if they could help, but they didn't. We left. As a note, this is the second time this had happened, but I didn't complain. Sorry, but I'm not spending $50+ dollars in your establishment and beg you to take my money. Went to Half Shell Oyster House instead. TOTALLY different experience! We ordered room service delivery from Drago's when we were staying at the Hilton in Jackson, Mississippi on our southern road trip in January 2017. It was convenient that they delivered right to our room and that it was room service style, even though they're a separate restaurant down the street from the hotel. The food was good, but not blow-me-away good. I did like it, but it wasn't exactly the best meal I had on our southern road trip. I ordered the following: -Fried Catfish (this was my first time having catfish and it was tasty, but the fact that I could still see the outline of the fish weirded me out...) -Corn Maque Choux (this was good, though a bit too sweet for my liking) Overall, good food. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Jackson but tonight I was super disappointed. They discontinued a favorite menu item - the eggplant and shrimp stack and when I ordered takeout- the prices overall seem to be higher than my last visit. I know that is true almost every but they charged too much for certain items, like salads. For instance, $15 for a simple wedge salad is a bit absurd. I ordered six of the chargrilled oysters, because they really are some of the best in the South. I ordered the fleur de lis shrimp appetizer and a bread pudding for dessert. The shrimp are probably supposed to be like bang bang shrimp - but were prepared for takeout without the sauce. It just doesn't have the same affect to dip the shrimp and I'm also not exactly crazy about the sauce so I paid $15 for just about 15 fried popcorn shrimp, When I arrived at the restaurant I had to wait almost 10 minutes before anybody even looked my way and that was only because I saw manager come out of the kitchen, and I flagged him down. Whenever I'm in Jackson, MS I have to go to Dragos. They serve cajun cuisine but I always get the same thing whenever I go - a dozen charbroiled oysters and a lemon drop martini. Every time I get them they never disappoint. The oysters always come out hot and sizzling fresh off the grill and my martini is always just right. Charbroiled oysters are a MUST! This is my second time to a Drago's and it was delicious. My husband got the catch of the day which was a stuffed red snapper with crab sitting in a creamy buttery sauce and he absolutely loved it. I got the seafood pasta.
