My husband and I have eaten the breakfast from Twisted a few times. He's always enjoyed his chicken and waffles and I the Breakfast bowl. We went there last night for dinner for the first time. We're both army vets (just to put that into perspective) and have stomachs that are pretty robust. The shrimp and grits were inedible. The texture of the "sauce" was so thick I couldn't distinguish it from the grits. In this case it being cheesy didn't make it go down easy. Today we tried to eat Sunday brunch which has a limited menu of only seven items. We ordered and waited over 50 minutes, asked about our food multiple times, and ultimately asked the manager to cancel our order. We got a refund, but never got an apology, any type of situation to make it better, or any attempt to resolve it. They just wasted our time completely. I would not recommend this location. We have been to Twisted Turnip multiple times before this visit, and have always enjoyed it. The atmosphere is clean and inviting, and there's a nice outdoor patio to sit on. The last two times we've gone in May, though, there has been a kitchen issue. The Sunday before Mother's Day (May 5th), we got there at noon and they had a sign on the counter that said "not taking anymore orders". The lady at the front said it would be 1:00 before they could take any orders. My husband and I waited until 12:30, and when the lady started telling people they now couldn't take orders until 2, we decided to leave. Maybe the kitchen was understaffed, but there's got to be a better way to do this. I've never been to a restaurant where they just stop serving people walking in. We decided to give it another try the next Sunday, May 12th (Mother's Day). We joined the "waitlist" and waited over an hour to be seated. After waiting for a table, and waiting for the food, we ended up being there over 2 hours. The food was delicious, but we're hesitant to go back now after having such a long wait 2 weekends in a row. Maybe the newness of the brunch menu will wear off eventually, and it'll go back to normal. We live less than a mile from the restaurant, and would love to be regulars if things would improve. read more

Was very short and discourteous so that soured or impression of the place. Not friendly or welcoming at all, and couldn't provide new customers advice on any of the menu selections. DON'T GO TO TWISTED TURNIP! I called to confirm the restaurant allowed dogs on the patio, which I was excited to find another place to take the pups and enjoy a beer/food, despite the new management. I moved from another city with lots of dog friendly restaurants/patios. When I showed up to Twisted Turnip a worker came out on the patio and commented on how beautiful my dogs were and asking questions about them. Meanwhile, my 6 y.o. female golden retriever's leash came loose and she walked over to the employee, to say hi. The worker FREAKED out, yelling, cursing, and causing a scene because she "is scared to death of dogs", but she came out on the patio specifically to talk to me and my goldens(she wasn't my server, and I hadn't ordered yet). I apologized for my dog casually walking over to her after coming off the leash and scaring her, but I was then asked to leave the establishment by the new manager, because my "dog approached an employee". I got kicked out because of an employee's irrational fear for, checks notes, a GOLDEN RETRIEVER. My dogs are duck dogs and have obedience training, hunt training, and are not aggressive in any form. This would have never happened under previous management. I've enjoyed many evenings on the patio prior and, unfortunately, won't again. I will not be going back to Twisted Turnip and I advise anyone thinking about it not to. Things have gone downhill with the new management, this issue not included.
