I had a pretty good experience at La mo overall. The food wasn't the best, but it was good. I love breakfast burritos and honestly this one was just okay. The service was excellent and I did like that their menu had a lot of creative dishes. The restaurant is pretty big and has like 3 different places to sit which is cool. If you go on a Saturday you can go to the farmers market while you wait for your table.
First Time! Really surprised by this place! Always thought it to be a small hole in the wall cafe that was overbooked all the time! It is far from that! The wife has been coming here on a regular with our dog friend Dreem! She raves about it! I'm amazed at the space, speed of service, and the food selections that are delish! Now that I have been pleasantly surprised - I will add it to the list of places to eat in Turlock!
First time in Turlock, had to try out the most popular brunch spot in town. I get why it's busy, but I wouldn't go again unless it was off peak time. Got there at 11am, had to wait about 1.5 hours for a table, even then waited about 30 mins for food. The shrimp quesadilla was good, but felt like an appetizer size. Also, they were out of their pumpkin pancakes (which was the reason we came) The coffee was fantastic though. Food: 4 Service: 3 Ambiance: 3.5 Marcels foodie score: 3.5
Came to La Mo for brunch since the SO and I were running errands in Turlock for the day and I wanted to try somewhere new. I'm really glad we did because I enjoyed our meal. For a Saturday, we waited about 40 minutes for a table. They will text your phone when a table is ready. Their space is an indoor/outdoor courtyard area that I thought was super cute. Except for the flies that were bothersome during our meal. We ordered: Maple pecan latte - this had a nice autumn flavor, but I wished it wasn't so light/had more coffee flavor. Breakfast burrito with machaca - SO loved this and really enjoyed the flavor of the machaca. Also the burrito was hefty, the SO could only finish half. Chicken and waffles - this is only served on Saturdays I believe. Great texture to the cornmeal waffles and the chicken had a good crunchy exterior. I stole the SO's salsa to dip the chicken in. Service was fine - nothing too crazy. The black coffee we ordered had the same taste and consistency of the coffee leftover at the bottom of the carafe after a boring All-Hands meeting... it was definitely strong! Also I wasn't sure on the refill policy on the coffee since the one mug of it cost almost $5. Our total came to about $60, which in this economy is AIGHT I guess. I wouldn't mind coming back to try their other food options.
This is a pretty cool breakfast, brunch, lunch spot. Indoor and outdoor seating. Check this out, in the winter time they have outdoor heaters and blankets to keep you cozy. That was a restaurant 1st for me. The food is good. I recommend the French toast and do not care for the breakfast tacos. The service is fine. The coffee was really good. You should check it out.
Tried this place for breakfast. Ordered the fr n h toast with fresh fruit. Some of the best French toast I have ever had. The service was amazing. They kept coming by asking if we needed more coffee or anything else. We sat outside in the center area. So relaxing and peaceful. The place filled up quickly though.
The ambiance is amazing, but the food is lacking. Came here because of several raving recommendations, they really hyped the spot up so I was excited for the most delicious brunch. The place is PACKED, which is a great sign, we waited maybe 30 minutes or so for a table. There's a ton of seating, multiple seating areas both inside and outside, with the inside areas having wide open doors so it's pretty much like outside minus open air overhead. The crowd is a nice mix of all ages... screaming kids included. The menu is small and it wasn't hard to make a decision- in hindsight we should have looked at the menu first before deciding to eat here. I got the Latin Benedict, fiancee got the chilaquiles and they had the same flavor because they were both over saturated in the same sauce. The regular coffee was pretty standard, the El Chapo coffee was a better choice, but someone's gotta do the driving! I think the experience would have been better if we had gotten some of the pretty and colorful alcoholic drinks, cause all those that had them were having a great time. Glad we tried it, but likely won't be coming here again when there's some much better breakfast choices on the same street.

We have been going to La Mo for years. My wife meets her friends there often. The place is solid for the atmosphere. Very serene setting and the owner takes pride in the restaurant. Clean and comfortable. Turlock needs more places like this. A little pricey but that's our life here in California. The food is usually on point and consistent. I had the Chili Rellenos today and they were good but I like my cheese melted. Beans, tortillas and rice were great. My wife had the shrimp enchiladas and loved them. She usually gets the iced tea but said that their tea is weak so she passed. My coffee was strong but good. Love the coffee cups. Our server, Benny, was fantastic. Gave good advice when we were debating what to get. Kept the coffee and water full. We will continue to go to La Mo and recommend it to friends and family.
This spot came highly recommend by the girl friend as one of the best brunches in Turlock for one thing, and it's the wedding chicken. Anthony Bourdain once said that if there's something on the menu with cream sauce, get it. I saw that quote a couple weeks ago, and realized it's a rule I've been living by for my whole life. Cream sauce is always the way to go, and the wedding chicken lived up to the hype. Creamy, spicy, flavorful, the sauce makes the dish. It came with chicken, fresh tortillas, rice and beans, and I found it to be really filling. We stared with the queso fundido, and I wasn't blown away by it, and would probs not order again, and just stick with the wedding chicken. The margaritas were tasty and was a refreshing beverage to battle the Central Valley heat. It was busy around 12pm but we were able to get a table in 30 minutes. There was a farmers market outside which made the time fly by. Overall, I'd come here again, just for that wedding chicken. Next time I look forward to trying it as a burrito.
This place is so good! I wish I lived closer because they do have limited hours. It's a great place for brunch. The food was perfect and I love that they have Mexican options as well. The restaurant has beautiful indoor and outdoor seating.

Two things I'm always seeking out: dog friendly patios and good chilaquiles. I searched for both this morning and drove 30 miles to find LaMo, and I couldn't have been more pleased! My waitress, Stephanie, was smiling and friendly and attentive. The staff wear the cutest flowered aprons, and it doesn't hurt they all loved my dog. I felt so welcome! The restaurant serves local, organic, sustainable eggs and veggies. All sauces and syrups made in-house. Kudos to supporting our locals. The chilaquiles were delicious. Layered with chips tossed in a creamy red sauce, with sliced onions (kind of odd, I prefer diced for this dish), two eggs MY WAY (yay! Over medium, to slice the yolk and let it run), avocado, and nopales. Drizzled with la crema and sprinkled with cojita. I chose the salad as a side (American breakfast always want to shove potatoes down your throat), thinking Mexican traditional micro greens for breakfast, and to my surprise I got a salad full of dried berries, fresh strawberries, sliced almonds and apples (apples were kind of overkill, so I fed them to the dog). It was too much food, so I'll be full all day or take a siesta to recover. That's not a complaint. It was like $15 for ALL that food! I got a specialty tea from LaMo Cafe, nextdoor, which appears to be a sister location that works hand-in-hand. London Fog. Earl Grey with housemade vanilla simple syrup and local milk. HUGE cup of tea, a tad sweet, so Stephanie gladly brought me another teabag and hot water. Overall, a lovely restaurant. 5 stars on atmosphere, service, menu, food. If you like your specialty cafe drinks on the less sweet side, make note and I'm sure they'll alter their recipes for you. A preference more than a complaint. A gem in Turlock. Don't overlook it. *LaMo gallery open for prayer 9:30-10:30 on Mondays. Even if you don't pray... that's so thoughtful. read more

La Mo is one of those places that makes me want to go through the rest of my four and five-star reviews and mark them down. They just can't compare! The owners of La Mo, a multi-generational restaurant family, have gone out of their way to create something really special. It's obvious that this sweet indoor/outdoor cafe is a work of love and passion. Everything has been meticulously thought of. My boyfriend and I came for lunch and while sipping on the freshly brewed iced tea, admired the cute papier mache flowers on the tables, the artwork, the charming glassware, and the innovative setup of the restaurant that makes the most of a small space. We perused the menu and specials for a while -- everything sounded amazing! Always a good sign. We decided to share two of their daily lunch specials: the spinach and strawberry salad with almonds, avocado and a balsamic vinaigrette, followed by the coconut-crusted mahi mahi tacos with a cup of tortilla soup. The salad was fantastic and a very generous size. The tacos were delicious and didn't break apart in the homemade corn tortillas. Everything here is made from scratch! After lunch, we decided to share a dessert: the chocoflan. A slice of rich chocolate cake topped with a layer of flan and fresh whipped cream. It was a bit big for my taste but it was too good not to finish. We had fresh brewed coffee with it and our bill was only $32. A very good deal for an incredible lunch served by a lovely waitstaff. Almost everything on the menu here has the health conscious person in mind. Instead of refried bean dip, they offer a black bean dip on their menu. Instead of a greasy burrito, they offer a black bean wrap full of spice, avocados, and delicious vegetables. Top off your meal with their Sangria which is probably the best Sangria I've had in our local area. For dessert you absolutely need to try their Tres Leches cake. Served with whipped cream and fresh berries - it's a simple and delicious way to end a meal. We're fans of La Morenita - the authentic Mexican restaurant in Modesto that came first. As fans of the original, we eagerly welcome this healthy, modern take on Mexican food at this adorable cafe with outdoor seating. read more

I'm not sure how to feel about this place, the food is always pretty good. The beans are kinda weird, but let me tell you, the service was very very very mediocre, it could possibly have to do with the fact that their isn't one designated server to the table? Not sure. But the lady who took my order (seemed a bit older than the other servers) I said I wanted the huevos rancheros and she said "would you like tortilla with that? I mean I'm not sure what it even comes with but if it does come with tortillas do you want some?" And I just didn't know what to say so I said no it's fine..? Also had the Pueblo coffee and wish the description warned me about the after taste being spicy, I had to switch to the carmelada I think it was called, and that was kinda bland. My friends had tamarin margaritas that tasted like regular margaritas and my other friend got a mai tai that was really great tasting. Overall I give my experience a 3 stars - because I liked my plate of food and the host was really sweet and pleasant. But the heater near us was broken and it was pretty cold and our service was very slow & mediocre not great. read more

Cute little spot. This place does not take reservations via phone on weekends. While we waited for our table we enjoyed the local farmers market. The Menu had variety of food & it was delicious. Great presentation. If you get the bottomless mimosas it's for 1 1/2 hours. Our waiter was attentive and professional. read more

I love this place! You can't go wrong with anything you order. The food it perfect each time and the flavor are amazing. I also love their coffee house at the enternece of the building. We usually get on the waitlist and have a coffee or chai while we wait which make the wait that much better. Honestly anything you pick is great! read more

Me and a friend had been saying let's go to "La Mo" but we just never did and finally today we went for the first time and oh my!!!!! Seriously I wish we would've went a long time ago!!! The food is seriously AMAZING. It's the type of food that makes your heart and stomach feel love lol. I had got the huevos con chorizo y nopales and it was amazing!!! I seriously can not wait til I go back again. Definitely give this place a 5 stars!!! Well worth it!!! If you haven't gone you owe it to yourself to go!!!!! read more

This is my favorite place for brunch in Turlock. The staff is always super friendly and service is very quick. Sometimes there is a wait but it is so worth it. The blueberry pancakes are my favorite. You can tell that the ingredients they use are fresh. I haven't had anything here that I wouldn't recommend. This is the perfect beginning to a shopping or spa day! read more

Bottom Line- La Mo lives up to the hype. So good. Behind the la mo that just serves coffee and pastries is this delicious restaurant. I came here on as a party of 3 on a Saturday around 9:30ams. The place was packed and there was a 35-45 minute wait. We ended up waited the solid 45 minutes to be seated. We all had an idea of what we wanted so ordering did not take too long. Our server was nice enough and not too in your face since we were chatting away the whole time. I ordered the chilaquiles in red sauce, with scrambled eggs and the side of potatoes. Seriously delicious! I'm used to authentic Mexican chilaquiles and these were not exactly those by any means, but definitely a good version. The potatoes were some of the best I've ever had. So good. My friends got a chorizo burrito and the fruit pancakes. Both were more than satisfied and loved the taste. I liked that the fruit pancakes came with a variety of fruit like peach and pineapple instead of just the usually strawberry or blueberry. The price was fair for the portions and hip vibe. I would come again and recommend to others! read more

A great atmosphere and unique menu items. Fantastic for groups or individuals, linked to the café out front. Come early, it'll fill up fast. I had the Latin Benedict, with a spicy hollandaise and potatoes. One of the poached eggs was over cooked, but it didn't affect anything drastically. Great place for breakfast! read more
